Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, the beloved elder statesmen of the movie series, won’t be returning for the forthcoming X-Men film. The question has lingered over whether the older incarnations of Professor X (Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen) would be coming back for the sequel, but when asked the actor point-blank whether he’d be in Apocalypse, Stewart responded, “No. Nor Sir Ian McKellen, either.

  1. Sad face! But I hope they will conclude the trilogy with a great episode! Loved the last movie.

  3. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
don't say that...this is something that I really didn't want to hear... talk about bad and sad news....but I'd be ok if they went on with movies with actors playing younger versions of them all.. because they are some of my fav movies.. right down to the cartoons ...

  4. SO don't get why you are upset? About Patrick and Ian or this being the last movie in the trilogy!
X-men were one of my top 3 cartoons growing up so I can't wait for this and the X-force movie, can't wait for fresh blood.

  5. The end of Days Of Future Past was effectively a goodbye to the old crew anyway (apart from the ageless Wolverine). I wasn't expecting them to return.

  6. I want to cry a little.

  7. Me neither and honestly, as much as i like them, i think it's the right choice.

  8. That sucks

  9. F**K

so I guess that means we'll be stuck with the new cast exclusively -,-
yay another theatre visit overrun with crazed JLaw fans telling every other audience member how awesome she is and going completely mad if you say "Actually she's pretty mediocore, always delivers the exact same performance". You should've seen that gals face...she almost slapped me...then again she was probably to exhausted from blabbering the whole time

  10. Well that doesn't mean we won't see them again. At least were are getiting Deadpool, Xmen Apocalypse, and Gambit in 2016 and a sequel to The Wolverine in 2017. There's also that unnamed 2018 movie that could be an Original cast film or X-force movie

  11. Yeah especially as this one is supposed to be in the 80s I believe, so we've got to focus on the younger X + Magneto having to team up to beat our big bad.

  12. Is Gambit a part of the present day X-Men or the first class? I want more of the current/future team. Especially Blink! With a present day Gambit, we may finally see the REAL "supergirl" Rouge.

  13. Sadly I don't know. I was also hoping we could see see those two to together since their was a revised timeline after days of future past but idk

  14. Since they're going with the young and hip cast now I guess that Gambit will be part of the past-cast

  15. Don't worry, with FOXs fantastic track record we'll have Justin Bieber as Wolverine and Benedict Cumberbatch as Pyro in no time. Fangirls will forget who Patrick Steward or Ian McKellan even are

  16. That'd be awesome, for me the future scenes were way better than the past.

  17. Fingers crossed for Gambit and super-Rogue. Great memories of those two from the 90s animated series.

  18. You and me both dude, I'm absolutely NOT a fan of the new castings....at all. I can live with Fassbender and McAvoy. However I CAN'T deal with Peters, Lawrence and Hoult any longer. Lawrence is such a notorious overactor that literally always plays her roles in the exact effing same style (and even with the same mannerisms, one would expect an oscar winner to craft and work on your role but noooooo...."best actress of our generation" my a**)

And let's not forget about Channing Tatum as Gambit...

    gah, this franchise

  19. Lol, colorful opinions as always!
If DOFP showed me anything, is that they're many awesome X-Men to build films with. Way too much Wolverine and Magneto over the years imo. Wouldn't mind some new blood. Maybe Gambit will be the start of it . Even though he's played by the guy from Step-Up:)

  20. Never had that experience.

  21. I dont think Jen gives the exact same performance in every movie she clearly plays different people , but she uses the same voice.
Her voice sounds exactly the same in every movie , shes no Meryl streep in that regard but l definitely dont see Mystique , Katniss or even Selma as the same people.
She can act but even then l would not call her mediocre because Hollywood has worse actors who are a 100 percent worse than she is ,watch B movies .
Her technique keeps her from looking like shes pretending , which makes her more believable and is responsible for her success.Thats why people like her and of course her adorable personality , shes a girl who would make a great friend if you knew her .
    Thats the mystery of JenLaw

  22. Well, wasn't Gambit already in X-Men origins: Wolverine? I believe that movie took place in the 80s, so I'm pretty sure the Gambit movie will be set in the past.

  23. I'm upset because I love them both...Patrick S. ever since star trek gen.. and Ian M. ever since the lord of the rings movies... which are also some of my most fav. movies... and I would love for them both to keep going and going and going and going.. even as i know that's not realistic... a person can't help but want and hope for it... but as I love them and they are the heart of the movies.. I've loved all things xmen ever since I was a kid.. so even as I am sad to see them go I still want to movies to go on... and I know what you mean by those cartoons.. when I was a kid.. way way back.... lol.. I never missed one...

  24. I get you! Patrick and Ian really gave those character souls, and even though I like Michael and James, those first 2 really left an impact.
I look forward to the new movies and some small cameos along the way.

  25. :( :( :( Does that mean that we won't see the "new future-timeline" with Jean, Scott, old Professor X and old Magneto?!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Damn, forgot about that. I do remember reading somewhere that do to the alternate timeline some X-Men would've been born at different times. Could be why Gambit looks like Channing Tatum instead of Taylor Kitsch:)
Well I hope it's present day. I want Gambit to be the start of the new X-Men films. Getting tired of the past...

    ReplyDelete
  27. That's all I want! The end of X-Men DOFP has me begging for a present day x-movie.

  28. I feel your pain...

  29. I'm not surprised to be honest.

  30. I do watch a LOT of bad movies and trust me on one thing: I've seen performances so bad they exceed your expectations. I have to lead you to this little gem from Mortal Kombat: Annihilation:

however Lawrence is up there, she has a certain lack of versitility.

And that's EXACTLY why I barely watch actors away from their work, getting personally attatched to that person like you and others seem to have been influences ones view on their work.

There's a thing when you get to play a character that has been previously portrayed by a different actress: bring your own thing but stay loyal to the core performance. Rebecca Romjin did a good (not perfect but good) job at creating a mysterious and creepy character. However Lawrence absolutely abandoned that aspect and turned her into another CW leading lady. Performance wise she's is rather bland and I constantly have to scratch my head in confusio whenever I hear people praise her as "the best actress of our generation"

Is she bad? Certainly not. Is she the best Hollywood has to offer? By far not.

What is she (in my opinion): a mediocore actress that rather relies on her personality instead of her performance to create a fandom, I genuinely think that a E! reality show following her each day would work better for her than doing movies.
She's relatable to young audiences wich is fine by me. However some people react incredibly grumpy to any criticizm thrown in her way. And I think I know why, people are attatched to her as a person and easily feel this "she's my friend" vibe and let that cloud their judgement.

However: I'm usually a VERY judgy guy and while I can enjoy bad performances (and I truly do) Lawrence hits all the wrong notes with me. She's not completely hammy (like John Barrowman) or completely cold (like Kristen Stewart). She's like canned soup: you know the soup isn't warm enough yet and tastes kind of bland but you'll go along with it because you really don't have anything better to eat
