  8. I just realized I barely watched any movies in the last 12 months.

  9. I'll be rooting for Wild Tales and Dragons 2!!!! :D

  10. That's already in the post.

  11. Same. I think I've only watched GotG and HTTYD 2.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sad Angelina Jolie wasn´t nominated for best actress for Maleficent, she did an amazing show, as she usually does in all her movies :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ok, I just refresh the page, thanks

  14. I watched those two as well. I usually add most Oscar-nominated movies to my Movie-Watchlist and watch them over the year but I'm not sure why I never got around to watching them this time. Lincoln is still on my list and that one is from 2013, lol.

  18. Happy that J. K. Simmons, Steve Carrell and Benedict Cumberbatch got nominated even though I didn't watch their films :D I liked Birdman but Emma Stone nomination was suprising:O I like that there are nominations for GotG too! I hope Guardians or X-Men wins the visual effects, those films looked awesome!

  19. Bradley Cooper and Steve Carrell in there instead of Miles Teller (Whiplash) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) is disappointing to me, also feel Rene Russo was robbed for Supporting Actress (Nightcrawler). Meryl's always great, but Into The Woods didn't deserve any nominations.

    ReplyDelete
  20. is Robert Downey Jr not nominated? oh no why

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh look there are actual movies I've seen in this category, Best Achievement in Visual Effects,

    ReplyDelete
  22. It seems Selma was starting to fizzle out. Besides best picture, it only got one other nomination for best song. Usually if a picture doesn't have any technical nominations or any nods for acting, it isn't consider for Best Picture. I think they just put it in there for Oprah this year since The Butler wasn't nominated last year. Foxcatcher was nominated for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Writing, Best Makeup, yet it didn't get a Best Picture nod.

    ReplyDelete
  23. And that's bs.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I edited it to reflect that. When I replied I was thinking he got the nomination... Had to double check. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have and both were not as good as Gyllenhaal and Oweloyo. I still debate if Carell was even the best actor period in Foxcatcher. Also I'm glad Foxcatcher was not nominated for Best Picture. Great acting, but the script was not up to par. Movie was very hollow.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Also I think it's rare for a movie to have a Best Director nomination, but not get nominated for Best Picture like Foxcatcher this year.

Personally I thought Selma was overrated.
Powerful, timely and relevant historic material, but only mediocre writing and directing.
Or maybe the Academy members are all LBJ fans! XD

    ReplyDelete
  27. I felt the movie lacked soul too.
Maybe I just did not connect with the style, but it left me wanting at times.

That said, I thought Carell was amazing as Dupont. For me he was one of the few absolute locks for Best Actor along with Keaton and Redmayne.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I totally agree. Selma may be timely and is a poignant part of American History but that does not equate to a good movie. Into the Woods is doing well at the box office. I know it won't win but I was surprise that it wasn't even consider amongst the top.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am a bit surprised too...
Personally, I'm not a fan of musicals and did not love Into the Woods, but the Oscars can fall for certain musicals. I thought Into the Woods would get more Oscar love than it did.
    *Shrug*

  30. There are two movies that seem to never get any traction. I guess they just came out too late. I knew they weren't consider for Golden Globes but I thought voters would give them more consideration when it came to Oscar. The two movies are Inherent Vice

    ReplyDelete
  31. Lastly, I was surprised that at least one of the Hunger Game songs that hit the top 40 of the Billboard Charts was not nominated. And Lana Del Rey missed out for her song in Big Eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  32. YOU KIDDING ME? no The Book of Life in Best Animated Movie?.. what a joke. Sad not to see Jennifer Aniston there.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yesssssss!!! Wild Tales is nominated!!! Loved it!!! Amazing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Happy for Cumberbatch.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I've never once doubted Carrel can act.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I can't believe it either!! What an excellent movie! I get that you are Argentinian like me? Maybe? :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Rosamund Pike for the win!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Obviooooo!!!! Jajajaja

    ReplyDelete
  39. I want to see American Sniper before the Oscars air. And i think Captain America should win for best visual effects. B/c WOW! I love that they made the set.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I really don't get why Cotillard is nominated, that nom came out of nowhere. Not to mention that the film is really not worth spending money for a ticket on.
I'm disappointed Jack O'Connell is not nominated for Unbroken even though I was expecting it since he wasn't nominated in any other ceremony but he was amazing in this movie. I saw him in Skins and in Starred Up and he took my breath away. We're gonna see him in plenty of other films hopefully.
I'm happy for X-Men, it's rare for this kind of film to be nominated in anything. Not much love for the Hobbit despite the legions of fans but hey, what can you do?
I'm more surprised by the lack of acting nominations for Interstellar maybe the voters didn't understand the movie...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yes, it'd be nice for Guardians or X-Men to get some love, they usually don't even get nominated.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think this Best Actor category is the best in years. Steve Carrell in Foxcatcher? You would never have known him. I won't be disappointed with any of them winning. They're that good.
The best actress OTOH, I want it to go to Reese Witherspoon.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Totally agree on Into the Woods, that one looks like a huge mess. And do they really have to nominate Meryl Streep every year? Give it a rest already, we know she's a great actress.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Carrell was great in Foxcatcher but I also loved Tatum, he's a great actor and he hasn't got much recognition for that so far. In Magic Mike for instance - despite its ridiculous title - he was amazing and I'm not talking about the dancing, though that was great too.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I was a lot more touched by 12 Years a Slave than I was by Selma which felt too much like a history lesson.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Pretty much all of my snubs in a nutshell. I can live with Carell getting the nod, but Cooper over Gyllenhaal and Oweloyo? How on earth did that happen? I mean, I know in the end Keaton, Redmayne or Cumberbatch is walking away with the trophy regardless, but still. And Lego Movie got robbed of it's Golden Globe - I love HTTYD and everything, but it was either Lego or possibly Big Hero, that was ridiculous - and it's insane it didn't get an Oscar nomination. If you make a legitimately fantastic movie from the basic premise of "make a movie about legos," you deserve all the awards. And I want Selma for Best Directing over Imitation Game, because Ava DuVernay deserved at least the nomination.

The thing about "snubs" is that sometimes it's about a category just being overcrowded rather than people not deserving nominations, and people are just complaining about those that don't make the cut - that form of listing out snubs bugs the crap out of me. But this year, there are just simply people and movies that shouldn't be in a category ("Boxtrolls," anyone?), instead of the ones that should. To me, that's what a snub is, and it's happened in abundance this year.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Nothing interesting, still can't believe they didn't nominate Tom hanks last year for Captain Phillips

    ReplyDelete
  48. They snubbed Gone Girl...It should have got the nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay..

    ReplyDelete
  49. The Lego movie won many "Best Animated Movie" Awards and it was snubbed here. Same goes for Gone Girl. It won many "Best Adapted Screenplay" Awards.
Selma only got 2 nominations, Nightcrawler only got 1, etc... I expected more.
All I see is Snub...Snub... Snub... Snub... Snub... Snub... Snub... Snub...
    Snub

    Snub

    ReplyDelete
  50. The Boxtrolls was really really bad. Haven't even seen The Lego Movie, but it should be there instead!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh yeah NIghtcrawler was crazy amazing!! So so clever. Don't think Best PIcture so much, screenplay is a better category for it. But Jake Gyllenhaal should have got a nomination for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Vamos carajo!!! xD Q bueno encontrar Argentinos x acá!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Come on... it was a 90 minute infomercial.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Joan Rivers was not mentioned in the memoriam
