  1. these Four are kids though that's surprising, it actually looks pretty awesome

  2. Well this completely different from the original i don't know if i have to be impressed or not.

    Yeah...... no. Thanks. Pass.

  4. No no no! I dunno how to explain it but sure the 3d looks good and all but its not fantastic four seeing miles teller just made me think it was like a divergent sequel but with superpowers
The essence of fantastic four is just gone and its sad

  5. Not bad. I like it

Idk i think the effects look good but cast not sure everyone looks to young and they dont seem to fit together i think i ll stick with the old movies

    ReplyDelete
  7. Looks EPIC. I think it will be better than the original movies from 2005 and 2007.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Looks pretty good, it kinda looks more serious (which i hear by comic readers is not right).

Hopefully the film turns out great! Could be the surprise of the summer/winter (for those on the other side of the world).

    ReplyDelete
  9. ok, not racist but no one anywhere is bringing up the fact that Johnny Storm is African-American

    ReplyDelete
  10. Minus 10 points for use of "Fant4stic".

    ReplyDelete
  11. That's because that unnecessary squabble already took place when Michael B. Jordan was cast.

    ReplyDelete
  12. ah so are they going to adopted siblings?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Looks horrible as expected.

    ReplyDelete
  14. They used Broadchurch's soundtrack!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Another giant blue beam shooting up into the sky?

    ReplyDelete
  16. see?, just wait. It's gonna be good

    ReplyDelete
  17. That still bothers me.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Fant4stic? Bitch, please.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes, I hate that.

    ReplyDelete
  20. They could be half siblings. That way the two are still biologically related but it does explain the pigmentation difference. Although honestly I think they're not going to explain it and nobody will ask in universe.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yet another origin story? Really? Come on people give us something original. It's not like Marvel doesn't have writers employed who are used to writing stories in a visual medium.

    ReplyDelete
  22. probably and also probably that they won't explain it

    ReplyDelete
  23. Holy sh*t, this looks bad.

The CG is neat but come the eff on. The cast is so damn unfitting and I'm not even talking about Sue/Johnny being adopted here. Just look at Reed...a 12 year old kid? REALLY? And Ben? WOT?!?

Hey FOX, why don't you f***k up your entire hero line-up while you're at it.

Here's my cast for FOX future marvel flicks:

Justin Bieber as Wolverine, Jennifer Lawrence as every female Marvel character, Jaden Smith as Professor X, Logan Lerman as Magneto

    ReplyDelete
  24. I like that it seems darker and less comical then the first. I think its one that could go either way.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm up to see it. Can't be much worse than the first movie. And Marvel, so...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Christopher DeBono27 January 2015 at 17:15

    ^ This
And the problem is, the kids/tweens will probably love it and make it really profitable. I'm kinda expecting the teen girl magazines to start promoting it after Insurgent hits because of Miles Teller.

Apparently it's so bad they're undergoing heavy reshoots. People who saw the first cut described it 'a mess'.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Same like they did with "The Amazing Spiderman", I remember tween girls being up in arms about that movie and because of "how hot Andrew and Emma looked together".

And the worst thing was being bombarded with "TASM is so much more faithful to the comics than the old movies were" comments. Sure he had webshooters but if the characterization of the man character fails to deliver and some important aspects are cut completely it's not faithful. I'll always admire the old Spiderman movies for staying so loyal to the characters. They took one creative liberty with not integrating webshooters and TASM fans were all over it -,-

    ReplyDelete
  28. and WTF is that craze with casting young kids in such roles anyway?

Ioan Gruffud was fine, Rebecca Romijn was fine as Mystique, hell....Kelsey Grammer was perfect as Beast -,-

    ReplyDelete
  29. while not gay I'd say that I doubt gay people want anything to do with that movie either.

That movie just looks like made for 11 year olds exclusively

    ReplyDelete
  30. Marvel had no involvement in this, they just tacked the logo big in there because they hope to gain viewers like this

    ReplyDelete
  31. This doesnt even look like fantastic four...

    ReplyDelete
  32. "Craptastic Teens"

    ReplyDelete
  33. Christopher DeBono27 January 2015 at 17:32

I always assumed it was because of cost.

The older/more experienced actors probably expect to be paid a lot more. While the younger ones who only have under 5~ years of real actor experience get paid less. In the off chance they become 'the next big thing' they're probably still under contract so they can keep making films in the series for less then they're worth (or so I assume).

It came up about 2 years ago in regards to Jennifer Lawrence: http://radaronline.com/exclusives/2013/12/jennifer-lawrence-boyfriend-nicholas-hoult-prisoners-x-men-franchise/

She wants out since she's worth so much more, but they already got her under contract before Hunger Games (and she) became such a big thing.

    ReplyDelete
  34. mixed-raced parents maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's an expression. No need to be all....about it. Shrugs. Pretty sure you know that.

    ReplyDelete
  36. But that's the thing: Marvel movies proved that actors are vital to a movies success.

Robert Downey Jr. made Iron Man, he's more than experienced and probably got quite a solid salary for the first IM, Chris Evans also had some high profile movies under his belt, Mark Ruffallo as well. The only really "new" actor Marvel approached was Chris Hemsworth. And he wasn't a teen.

And I highly doubt that any CW actor would demand more than these kids would (pointing at Paul Wesley, Henry Ian Cusik, Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Paige Turco and some other great older actors)

lol at that, they really should be allowed to leave because my response to both Lawrence and Hoult is hugely negative.
I have major problems with Lawrences performance and am still baffled that she's an oscar winner. She's (IMO) a pretty bad actress even falling bellow someone that left the Arrow cast fairly recently and had glorious cleavage (you know who I'm talking about). No really...she's bad.
And Hoult? He's absolutely charisma-free. Acting wise he's forgettable.

Why are these people huge? (I know why, because Jennifer is "so relatable in interviews" - actual words from one of her fans. She'd be better off with a show on E!)

    ReplyDelete
  37. To be fair, Jennifer Lawrence is more than just a giggly teen star and she does a great job as Mystique. Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith however ... this brats in the same sentence with Wolverine and Prof X is a sacrilege.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I know it was, just pointed that out before someone got offended. Happened to me in school a lot. "Lol, that's so gay" was something we used all the time while joking around until one of our friends came out. Ever since we stopped using it because we realized that associating someones sexual orientation with something negative was incredibly hurtful.
I know you didn't mean that and used it as an expression, I'm just really careful with using "gay" while associating it with something negative

    ReplyDelete
  39. Not at all,
Lawrence has put up quite a fair share terrible if not laughable performances in the past. Her entire Hunger Games stint consisted of her not going with the scripts evolution of her character. Instead she chose to stick with her "angry yet relatable" acting style. A style she's been using for the X movies as well. Also in Winters bone she used the very same mannerisms. She's not versitale and the one style she does isn't even delivered well.
Her expressional acting is beyond the average and her voice rarely fits the scene. I'm not going to call her "god awful" but of all actors I've encountered she's certainly pretty low on the list.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well i'm the biggest gay supporter there is. And i've pretty much made that known on this site (as i'm always shipping my gay couples). Even my Gay/Les/Bi friends use the term, and since i live in the best city in the world. It's used often, not taken too seriously. However, i guess i see your point. Well, i didn't mean it that way. And hopefully no one took it offensively, and just agreed.

  41. Christopher DeBono27 January 2015 at 17:52

True. To an extent I feel like this F4 film is an attempt by FOX to spite Marvel and Disney. Otherwise the rights would have reverted back to Marvel/Disney.

Overall all FOX cares about with this is keeping the rights and making a quick dollar so they're cutting costs with it and taking the cheapest approaches in every area. They'll get kids/teens in with 'ooh superheroes' and 'omg hes hot!' and that'll be it.

They don't seem to be concerned with making a good film. Marvel/Disney go out of their way to cast the right actor for each role whether they're cheap or expensive. It really works and has more of a long term appeal.

I doubt if 5 years from now people will still be watching or even concerned about this F4 film.

On a different note though, have you heard that the Fifty Shades film seems to have made a profit on pre-sales alone? It had a budget of 40m and has already made over 45m from ticket sales. Next Twilight here we come...

    ReplyDelete
  42. I know you are, I just wanted to diffuse a bomb I feared could go off at some point.
I even had a long as hell conversation over someone being offended my Senior Changs "Ha gay" once that took over two days to finish

    ReplyDelete
  43. I didn't think that was too bad, I liked that it didn't give too much away that is how a teaser trailer should be.

Then again I didn't like the original movies I thought they were super cheesy so maybe having no attachment to them makes it easier to accept the new version.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Not at all, she has had quite a lot of bad performances and I stand firmly to my point.
I don't consider someone being an oscar winner as a symbol of quality but rather as an award for popularity. That's something Lawrence has, she's considered relatable by fans due to her "down to earth" personality.

"You talk as if you're some acting expert" now that sounds like a butt-hurt fanboy comment. Let's be honest here: her performance in every movie of her's I've seen so far (First Class, DoFP, Hunger games 1-3) was beyond bad. I don't care what critics say, critics used to rave over the performances Lindsay Lohan put out while she still was regarded as an admirable star, the second she turned out to be a normal person with issues she was shoved down to the "terrible actor" category. Critics are like us: easily influenced by their own bias. And that's why don't take people/critics serious that praise her performance and in the same sentence mention her beautiful personality as it's painfully obvious that a lot of them can't divide character from actor.

I'm not an acting expert in any way, I'm an acting/directing student. But given the countless acting lessons I've had in the past have at least given me some insight and what to focus on while watching an actors performance. Lawrence simply buts on a rather routinized performance, I'm sorry that you disagree.

I dislike the performance she puts on in most of her movies but that's the thing about actors: their performance changes. I do think that the hype around her is blown way out of proportion but that's the beauty of acting: it changes. Maybe she'll deliver at some point.

Just like Nicholas Cage, at times he's terrible and at times he's great, never anything in between

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't know...I mean,it looks like it could be a good movie,but I just can't get used to the actors.
I mean, why did they choose actors that look like children?!They're not actually THAT young.I'm pretty sure that Chris Evans and Jessica Alba were younger when the previous movies came out,but they looked their age.
I actually liked the previous movies, thought they were fun and I'm trying to be excited for this, but so far it's not happening.

To be honest I hope the rumors about Marvels upcoming comics event is true, because they seem to be trying to get the rights back. (Supposedly the X-Men and the F4 are going to be deleted completely from the universe and replaced with the Inhumans and GOTG in the core lineup).

Eventually without video games, comics and the animated shows they're apparently hoping they'll fade into obscurity eventually and the brands worth will plummet so they can buy them back.

Thankfully the new casts contract expire after the next film and I haven't heard anything about them renewing them. So they'll all move on (probably why they're trying to develop the spinoffs). Hugh Jackman only has 1 more film left on his contract too.

I can already see the shipping aspect in the X-Men show they want to develop. From what I'm told it's meant to be based on X-Factor which means Rictor and Shatterstar will be pushed.

  47. Ohhh, so you're looking out? I see what ya did there.

Over two days huh? Live and learn i guess.

  48. that Community could spark such a conversation...

  49. Kid, Oscars aren't given out by fans. So her being relatable has nothing to do with anything. You're really grasping at straws to justify your opinion. No, winning an Oscar has nothing to do with popularity. That's why so many unknown actors/actresses have been nominated. Meanwhile, popular superstars like Aniston and Tatum have never been nominated.

"Let's be honest here: her performance in every movie of her's I've seen so far (First Class, DoFP, Hunger games 1-3) was beyond bad. I don't care what critics say, critics used to rave over the performances Lindsay Lohan put out while she still was regarded as an admirable star, the second she turned out to be a normal person with issues she was shoved down to the "terrible actor" category.

    "
It's alarming how delusional you are. You're talking as if it's a fact her performances in those movies are bad. It's not. It's just your opinion. And as you refuse to talk about what your credentials are and what makes you such an expert on acting, it's not an opinion with much merit. Lohan was praised as a child star for coming in silly movies. Her performances were never raved about by critics the way Lawrence's performances are. No comparison.
Obviously those acting lessons aren't paying off because Lawrence, someone with no formal training, is doing very well for herself and getting tons of acclaim. You're being taught the wrong things. It's like Daniel Day Lewis once said, "If these teachers actually knew anything about acting, they would be where I am, now where they are. They would be working actors, rather than out of work actors working as teachers."
Yeah, I'm sure she's sitting around trying to come up with a performance that pleases you. LMAO. Forget the critical acclaim and the acclaim from her peers. What do they know, right. You're the expert. LMAO. And by the way, for the record, I can't stand her personality, so I'm not some "butthurt fanboy." It's huge turnoff the way she keeps talking about bathroom habits and farting. Very unladylike.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Well if (idk if you did or not) you put the clip or gif, i could understand why. lol

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ah. Well, they'll likely succeed, as per usual.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Your quite immature reaction to an opinion you disagree with is quite alarming in itself, Not going to grace your post with a longer answer however:

    - Oscars are given out by the academy, sure. A group of (mostly) 40-70 year old white men that are very closely associated to distributers. Usually an oscar is the best publicity a movie or an actress can get.

    - of course I'm the delusional one here, how else could you explain an opinion that differs from yours?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Uh, that sounds neat. Dick move on Marvels part BUT understandable given Sony/FOX absolutely screwing up the public images of these franchises.

Unless the games aren't being published by FOX/Sony then (do they even have licensing rights?)

Sounds good, because I doubt that McAvoy or Fassbender sign on for another one.
Jackman though, I do think that they would push every possible button to keep him in the franchise given him being the face of X-Men (tbh, if they don't sign him on I could easily predict the end of the franchise soon)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Your logic keeps being laughable. So many well made big movies have been shafted at the Oscars. Movies backed by studios that have hundreds of millions to spend on marketing and PR. Instead, smaller movies with thin distributers are the ones that get nominated. And this is the same Jennifer Lawrence who during Oscar season when she won was on the record saying she thinks acting is very easy and not an art and something anyone can do. Those comments were even reported by Nikki Finke at Deadline and were said to have angered a lot of Oscar voters. Yet, they still considered her performance in SLP to be excellent. The likes of Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson cited her performance as their favorite of the year. Oscars are voted on by people like them. Artists who have been asked to join the academy.
The problem is you are stating your opinion as if it's a fact. Nothing about how you are coming across indicates that you're just some humble guy stating an individual opinion.
I don't care if your opinion differs from mine. The problem is your opinion implies that the vast majority of the best actors and actresses and writers and directors and critics in the world have no idea what a food actor is and only you do.

    ReplyDelete
  55. By the way, champ, most successful actors and actresses who have had training admit that their teachers had no clue what they were talking about and taught them the complete wrong things about what makes a good performance. The teachers who taught Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman considered them to be the two worst actors in the entire school.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Do you know how many actors, far greater than Lawrence will ever dream to become have NEVER won an Oscar?Winning an Oscar doesn't automatically make someone a great actor. And while Silver Linings Playbook was an enjoyable movie and her performance was good, there were actresses nominated that had probably given somewhat better performances.Critics said so,not me.

But hey, like most things, liking an actor is subjective.Personally,I think she's a good actress, with potential, that could become even better in the future.I just also believe that all the raving came a little too soon. But that's just me.

    ReplyDelete
  57. How about that: let someone else look at our messages and state who is humble and who is on his high horse here. Maybe then you'll see how...ummm...butthurt you're acting

    ReplyDelete
  58. Some critics said so. Many others said she was the best, and her peers agreed and voted for her. And you missed the whole point behind my ire. If he had said she was an overrated actress and not that great, no problem. But he didn't say that. He said she's flat out bad and has no idea what she's doing. Someone that accomplished and acclaimed and respected at such a young age cannot be as bad as he's making her out to be. It's simply an absurd argument on his part.

    ReplyDelete
  59. So what? I take training where ever I can get it from because one thing I know for sure: I'm not good either. I know my flaws and try to overcome them.

I see flaws with a performance and simply state that I see them. You appear to think that just because your opinion is identical to what you can read on social media outlets your opinion is more valid than someone elses

    ReplyDelete
  60. I liked the old movies.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I see flaws and clearly state them. What's your problem with that? Why are you taking my criticism of her acting so personal? Let's dig a little deeper: how many of her movies have you actually seen?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Butthurt.... the official go to insult for immature kids on the internet who have nothing of value to add to a debate about anything. Keep dancing, champ. As I said up top to someone else, someone that accomplished and acclaimed and respected at such a young age simply cannot be as incompetent as you're making her out to be. It's just not possible that so many brilliant artists think she's great, but that she's actually incompetent because you think so. Life doesn't work that way. What you're seeing might have you thinking it's bad acting because you've been taught the wrong things, but it has people in the know thinking it's great acting.

    ReplyDelete
  63. And as I said, what you've been taught are flaws by your teachers are not considered flaws by acting gods like Streep and Nicholson. No, my opinion is not more valid because it's identical to what some people on social media say. It's more valid because I have legends and true artists agreeing with me. If we were in an official debate, I would be the victor because my hypothesis is backed up by claims from experts on that same field. Yours is completely contradicted by those same experts.
Now, I have nothing more to say to you since I see it's pointless to argue with someone who thinks his knowledge of acting is on par with legends and Oscar voters. Bye, kid.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I liked it. It seems darker than the first ones, which seems to be a trend these days. Either way, i'm definitely gonna check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh my, your high horse is probably suffering from some severe gigantism.
Buddy, let's get one thing straight here: I don't claim to know more about acting that you do, not more than any critic does.

But what you are doing here is questioning the simple thing that is subjectivity. Some things are percieved differently by various people. If you have an issue with me stating that I consider her to be a bad actress that is overhyped due to a relatable personality so be it. However your way of jumping to her defense is fairly odd due to your complete lack of empathy towards your discussion partner. White knighting is something that also appears to have become a goto action for fans that see no way out of a conversation.

Keep using the publics opinion as your shield to fend of a different one. People are allowed to have different viewpoints and different perceptions your incapacity to accept that simple concept makes you indeed look like someone that is way too attatched to a celebrity than they should be.

btw. Jeff Winger would be dissapointed in you

    ReplyDelete
  66. The first HG movie. Winter's bone. American Hustle. SLP (her best performance and the best performance of the year from any actor if you ask me). The two X-men movies she's been in.
Do you really not see the irony of your logic? You're getting after me for not agreeing with your opinion, yet you're the one who tries to dismiss her success by saying critics are wrong and Oscar voters are wrong and only you're right.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Jeff Winger would actually be proud because he was an expert lawyer, and good lawyers know to have experts in each field contribute to the case to back up their argument. That's why expert witnesses are called in at trials.
But anyway, I stated my problem with your logic up above. If you had merely said "I'm not a fan and in my opinion she's overrated" no problem. But you didn't say that. You acted like your opinion was a fact and tried to dismiss her success away by making excuses as to why critics and fans and voters like her. A truly mature person would have just said this "Her acting is really not my cup of tea, but given how acclaimed she is, she's clearly doing something right."

    ReplyDelete
  68. I don't see any irony because I'm not going after you, you violently attempt to push your opinion onto me. This discussion is the written equivalent to a fan rubbing an article ripped out of an EW issue in a persons face that disagrees with them.

Your disability to even have a normal conversation is pretty worrying.

    ReplyDelete
  69. A truly mature person would never give in to a public and generalized opinion. A truly mature person wouldn't try to force his opinion onto another the way you're doing here.
Also, I doubt that Winger would in any shape or form be proud of an internet warrior fighting with quotes that weren't taken under any oath.

    ReplyDelete
  70. See, you're doing it again. Trying to fend off blame when you know you're in the wrong. The irony is that you're preaching about opinions, yet you're not stating your own as if it's an opinion. Read my last post to you before this one (it's at the bottom of this discussion). That'll show you the difference between stating an opinion respectfully, and acting like the end all be all of acting.

    ReplyDelete
  71. And you clearly stating that my teachers are flawed is more valid based on what? Your opinion?

Jack Nicholson saying that "she's wonderful" or other actors gushing over others has been done for years. Jaden Smith has been pushed onto a pedestreal in the past as well. Many young actors have. And even actors universally considered to be bad were praised by their co-stars and non-related actors for the sake of publicity.

You clearly have an issue with seeing your opinion validated by people you have never met. I do value Jack Nicholson and Merly Streep, however their opinion won't change mine. Why? Because I'm my own person and, apparently unlike you, can think for my own. I consider something terribe and say it. You don't have to agree with me. I don't force you to, however you clearly try to shove my opinion away and replacing it by yours. An opinion wich you consider valid due to being backed by quotes from other actors. Feel validated as much as you want. Opinion stays opinion. The way you fight to defend her honour is both cute and yet also slightly disturbing

    ReplyDelete
  72. It's as simple as this- You don't like her acting. Millions of others do and she's got the awards and reviews to back up what a great actress she is. No, her awards aren't due to her being relatable to girls on social media or any of that. Her awards are due to her peers in the industry--the people who know the most about the craft--thinking she's a great actress.

  73. Christopher DeBono27 January 2015 at 19:03

Apparently they don't have the video game rights, Marvel/Disney do. That comes from the Disney Infinity team who when asked about the X-Men mentioned that Disney owns the video game rights.

As for Spider-Man, all Sony owns in regards to that are the film rights. Video game, TV show, Animated, Toys, ect are all owned by Marvel/Disney. (Apparently that's why they co-operate so much better. Sony sold Marvel the rights to most of their stuff back. So even when a Spider-Man film comes out, all the money from the toys and such go to Marvel/Disney.)

I remember reading an article that mentioned how Disney could in theory make a Spider-Man live action TV show, it'd be a dick move to Sony but they have the rights to do so. He just couldn't show up in any of the films. (I'm kinda hoping that Marvel eventually does it though. Netflix I think would be perfect for it.)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Let it go. It's not like his opinion matters to Jennifer. We're all just individuals saying something on the internet. If he thinks he knows more than actual professionals in that field, let him live in that delusion. Let reality get him when he steps out into the real world.

    ReplyDelete
  75. You know, I'll end this here. Consider this discussion won. You may not have changed my mind on her acting but at least I know wich actresses fanbase not to piss off for future reference.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Okay, this is getting ridiculous. Jaden Smith has never received anywhere close to the acclaim Jennifer L has. Be fair now. He's never had someone like Jack Nicholson compliment his performance. You're trying really hard to make it seem as if she's a bad actress and everyone thinks so and only says otherwise for alternate reasons. No, they say she's great because that's what they believe. Why can't you accept that? Why does it always have to be "Oh the critics only like her because she's sweet, and the voters only like her because they're all secretly teenage girls." Enough already. Seems it really bugs you that an actress you dislike is this revered by so many people.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I can accept that, however using someone elses opinion to de-value another is something I disagree with. This started out as an opinion clash between two people until another brought in "the publics perception" as a shield to crush the one that is standing alone.

You see, your opinion is as valid as mine. However de-valuing another out of pure spite is not okay in my book

    ReplyDelete
  78. I understand your argument, but that's pretty much how it goes in the world. I could say Kobe Bryant isn't a top 10 all time player, and my friend could argue he is. As soon as legends like Michael Jordan and Barkley say Kobe is a top 10 all time player, I'm groaning because my argument has less ground to stand on now. I see you guy talking about Community, so I'll throw in a reference for you- Debate 109. Jeff and Annie VS Simmons. Each side argues their point mentioning respected and knowledgeable people who agree with them. That's how debates work.

  79. Okay, kind of odd that the studio has no real creative influence on the tie-in media then. Guess these franchises aren't as lucrative for Sony/Fox as I thought they were.

I knew about that but not that even direct movie-tie-ins were running into Marvels pocket.

They totally should, Spiderman has been completely messed up thanks to Sony. Dick-move maybe but still better in my book that what Sony did to the franchise

  80. As seen in Battleship, Transformer 3, Star Trek, The Avengers, Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, and probably some others as well.

And now in Fantfourstic as well -.-

    ReplyDelete
  81. Almost any attempt should be better than those two films.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Fantfourstic. No thank you.

Didn't movie marketing teams learn their lesson after Takthreen?

Ah, right, the actual contents of the trailer. Looks like a very bland origin story. The characters are too young. It's trying way too hard to be gritty. I can't imagine these particular actors having chemistry as a team (although they're all very good individually). Voiceovers are lame.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Oh, and the costumes are terribly uninspired.

    ReplyDelete
  84. The special effects looks good and the film has a darker tone than the previous one. But God they are so young. How can we take these characters seriously?

    ReplyDelete
  85. This looks like a good sci-fi film, but not a very good F4 film. Well, we'll see. I'm mostly interested in knowing whether Sue was adopted.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yep. They were horrific. Things can only get better.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Don't know what to think about this. I liked the "original" movie quite a lot.
The cast seems solid but seems like they are trying to hard.

    ReplyDelete
  88. To me i don't see a movie as bad or good. I just want to watch a movie that will keep me watching till the end. Trust me i watch alot of movies that many of you may hate or like but at the end of the day it's not whether it's good or bad but it's the fact that these people come to work every day film their scenes and allow us to watch their work on film regardless whether there experienced or not. We all should be lucky to be living in an age where Movies and TV exist bc back then people only had to rely on comic books or listen to the radio for entertainment.

  89. I like Jennifer Lawrence but this is a stupid argument. Winning an award means jack. You can win an award for one role while failing completely at others. There's also a great deal of lobbying involved in the awards process.

If you want to use critical reviews to back up your opinion that is just as foolish. Many critics have criticized Jennifer Lawrence. Specifically in American Hustle and, yes, X-Men. It's easy to cherry pick these things though because there are so many critics and reviews can be subjective.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Sue will be adopted. That was mentioned a while back.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Same here. I don't want them to change the color of Hulk to purple for example. I like consistency.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I think it's the smurfs teleporting.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Birdman looks "weird" in the trailers for it so I'm not surprised it didn't do well with the public.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I wasn't too hyped for it to begin with, and some preview reviews haven't been very promising, but the trailer's looking pretty good. Definitely better than I was expecting to be at least...

    ReplyDelete
  95. Well they're good actors, so I think that'll help. But maybe I'm biased (since I'm barely 20).

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yeah because tight blue costumes with four on them are ever inspired.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Wow that's an appropriate word to use.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Mac goddamn it. It makes me want to argue, but I really don't want to do that right now.

    ReplyDelete
  99. You really do like going up against me man, do we have some beef? Because I'm vegetarian and am not going to have this conversation with you as well.

I disliked her acting in DoFP. First Class, Winter's Bone and all three Hunger Games flicks. A good actress would've convinced me. However I see that you appear to like her as well, I'll leave you your opinion and carry on

    ReplyDelete
  100. I don't think your age creates a bias, I'm as old as you and have issues with their age (purely because the characters are supposed to be in their early 30s)

    ReplyDelete
  101. Publicity is very different from popularity. Yes, getting nominated for a huge award is good for word of mouth. It has nothing to do with public appeal. The Hurt Locker made $15 million dollars domestically. Avatar made $761 million. The Hurt Locker won the Oscar because the Oscars aren't about mass popularity (like The Artist or The King's Speech were box office draws), they are about industry preferences. SAG awards are directly who the screen actors think did well and she won and was nominated as well. Lawrence has enough acclaim that you have to move the discussion from "bad" to "overrated." Although both are just your opinion which has been seemingly overruled by a lot of people with pretty good credentials--like all the working actors in Hollywood (and Britain because she won a BAFTA too).

    ReplyDelete
  102. She was real good in American Hustle. Sadly still haven't seen SLP. = (

    ReplyDelete
  103. Sigh. Long week huh.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Agree. Except for Kelsey Grammer. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  105. You know that none of the main actors in this are even close to being teens, right? They all range in age from late 20s to early 30s.

    ReplyDelete
  106. It's just that these characters I knew before in the animated series and the previous movies (which I am not a fan of) was so much older. Especially Dr.Reed. May be they will pull it off who knows.

They guy who is playing Reed is he the one who played Bart Allen in Smallville?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Looks good to me! Love summer movies! Cast not bad either, I am in.

    ReplyDelete
  108. The costumes from the previous movies and the comics are certainly more inspired than what have here. This doesn't even feel like superhero costumes.

And believe me, I want this cast to have chemistry. I just can't imagine they will. I'm open to being proved wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  109. No matter what blue skintight suits don't scream inspired to me ever. So do I, but again you're presuming without seeing any footage of them interacting.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Just checked him out. He is the Divergent guy. I know him. He is not bad. I will have to see and decide.

    ReplyDelete
  111. It doesnt look that bad looking at the trailers. It seems quite good.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I think this needs a "come to see this movie for the cool CGI" type promotion like Transformers. I zoned out during the trailer but it got to the CGI and I was back :P

  113. Giovanni Ferraro3 April 2015 at 17:40

surely it will be better then the first two movies

    ReplyDelete
  114. Giovanni Ferraro3 April 2015 at 17:43

anyway i'm hoping somehow both x-men and fantastic 4 will come back to marvel studios it would be great to see that characters in the marvel cinematic universe

  115. Victoria Llanos3 April 2015 at 18:13

I'm not sure... I liked the cast of the previous movies and they were ok, why was this necessary? I like Kate Mara, but that's not enough for me to watch this, I'll wait and download it once it comes out.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I think you'll be surprised.

    ReplyDelete
  117. yeah, CGI festival...not a surprise here. More well written script less cgi...so dramatic, so over the top.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Gave a very Interstellar(y) vibe for a good part of the trailer which IMO doesn't at all suit this franchise.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I feel it would be too crowded to bring in X-Men to the MCU universe. There are so many lesser know characters who would be overlooked if the merge happened.

    ReplyDelete
  120. They'll get a different costume at the end of the movie. They haven't shown us that costume yet.

    ReplyDelete
  121. If you are going to mess with an iconic look, you have to make sure the new costumes are something special. Else, just stick with the classic look. No?

    ReplyDelete
  122. Was there any new footage from the last "teaser" trailer we got? It didn't feel like it...

    ReplyDelete
  123. My main issue is I can't get over the fact that Reed is an accomplished scientist in his field. I get that they are showing us these characters as young geniuses. But my years of perception of the characters makes me upset. But I will watch the movie for sure. I will wait for the Bluray.

    ReplyDelete
  124. This looks like a cinematic version of a car accident.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Looks better than the original movies.

    ReplyDelete
  126. You know it's one thing to say you think it's going to be bad. But to straight up say it's shit is just ignorant.
