ZACHARY LEVI ON BOARD FOR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ‘HEROES REBORN’
Former “Chuck” Star Cast for NBC’s Upcoming Event Miniseries
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Jan. 16, 2015 — Zachary Levi is making his long-awaited return to television in NBC’s upcoming event miniseries “Heroes Reborn” to play a key yet undisclosed role.
Levi is best known for his popular starring role on the NBC series “Chuck,” which ran for five seasons as well as his role as Fandral in the Marvel franchise “Thor: The Dark World.” Levi also made his Broadway debut in the musical "First Date" for which he received critical acclaim.
“One of my first, and fondest, memories of joining the NBC family in 2007 was having the pleasure of getting to know Tim Kring, and the cast of ‘Heroes.’ I was a fan of their collective work and always thought it was such a fantastic and fun world they got to play in,” said Levi. “With ‘Heroes: Reborn,’ I’m honored to have the opportunity to bring more of that world to life, and excited to help in offering the fans of the franchise an epic new installation of a series that made such a huge impact on entertainment.”
Jack Coleman, who played Noah Bennet in the original “Heroes” series, has previously been cast to reprise his role as “HRG” for “Heroes Reborn”
“Heroes” chronicled the life-changing stories of a series of unrelated ordinary people who discovered they had superhuman abilities. As the saga unfolded, they learned they were part of a grand plan that brought them together to change the world.
With the return of “Heroes Reborn,” NBC will launch a digital series prior to the premiere that will introduce the characters and new storylines. This leveraging of social media is a way for fans to re-engage with what was one for the true pioneers in multiplatform storytelling.
Tim Kring, Peter Elkoff and James Middleton will serve as executive producers. Holly Harold is co-executive producer.

This is some totally unexpected casting. Glad we are getting some news about the show.
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! As a former fanatical Chuck fan, I like Zachary Levi aka Chuck Bartowski. I didn't watch Heroes but I will now be definitely tuning in to check out this show.
ReplyDeleteWhat?!!!! Are you serious?????
ReplyDeleteTHIS JUST MADE MY DAY!!!!!!!!!!! I loved him on Chuck and in Tangled! I missed him on my TV!!!!!!!
Now i'm interested in this one!!
ReplyDeleteGreat casting! He is a great actor, although when it said Zachary I thought for a second it was going to be Quinto.
ReplyDeleteAnd still no news on other older castmates but Jack Coleman returning and Hayden Panettiere not coming back.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Milo Ventigmilia, Robert Knepper, Zachary Quinto though?
I didn't watch it but this is great news for all the CHUCK fans out there!
ReplyDeleteThey are not interested.
ReplyDeleteRun Zachary run away whilst you can.
ReplyDeleteKnepper said something else while I heard nothing on Quinto
ReplyDeleteThis show had an espectacular first Season, one of the best first seasons i've ever seen... And then it went to hell, a show with more holes than my grandmother's skin.
ReplyDeleteDon't know anything about Heroes but why do you think this is bad?
ReplyDeleteKnepper said he was willing to return
ReplyDeletehttp://www.spoilertv.com/2014/02/heroes-reborn-robnert-knepper-willling.html
I meant Milo.
ReplyDeleteThe third and fourth seasons of this show were GARBAGE, four moreso than three, but still bad.
ReplyDeleteGreat casting choice.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you counting the holes in your grandmother's skin? :P ;) :)
ReplyDeleteThe show got so bad,so it's bad rep.
ReplyDeleteI have a very bitter history with the show. S1 was amazing and I completely fell in love with it and it was my favourite series and everything was great. Things starting going downhill after that and Tim Kring the creator was a nasty piece of work who treated many of the actors and characters badly. Its the perfect example of how a series can so quickly fall from grace.
ReplyDeleteI would be more interested if Kring was completely away from the show but he isn't.
You forgot how awful the second season was as well.
ReplyDeleteSeason 2 was fine, it was the writer's strike that ruined it.
ReplyDeleteYou know me... I'm just weird. But to be honest, she has an awful skin. I'm like "don't touch me! Go put some aloe vera and then hug me... Jesus! Every time!".
ReplyDeleteIt's good casting, but "Heroes" burned me so many times, it's hard to get excited about this.
ReplyDeleteOn the one hand, loved Zachary Levi in Chuck. On the other hand, I very little faith in this not being a trainwreck. I'm not sure any amount of excellent casting will save this in the hands of NBC.
ReplyDeleteOh, I see. Now my initial excitement has been dampened a bit. :(
ReplyDeleteYeah, the writers strike ruined season 2, so by definition season 2 was not fine.
ReplyDeleteSame here. I love Zachary Levi but I can't get excited because Kring sucks. He was horrible and incredible condensing with the fans. He even said anyone who didn't watch the show live and used dvr was a dipshit. The show started going downhill in S2 and he blamed anyone but himself and the awful writing.
ReplyDeleteI wish he wasn't involved and the original writing staff from S1 came back.
Did you forget West and Caitlin? That season had the worst accent in tv history.
ReplyDeleteYeah he was terrible to the fans. The best writer was probably Bryan Fuller who left after S2 (though he briefly came back at one point). Kring just has no idea how to plot a show and things got messy.
ReplyDeleteI just hope this doesn't crash and burn for Zachary Levi, he deserves to be in something awesome
ReplyDeleteI love Zachary Levi and maybe maybe somehow Kring has learned from his past mistakes and Heroes Reborn turns out good but I would personally go into it with low expectations and perhaps it will surprise.
ReplyDeleteAmen. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Knepper come back. Samuel was one of the only remotely interesting parts of season 4.
ReplyDeleteI liked some of S2 like Adam and Monica are two of my favourite Heroes characters so I can't hate it too much but then S3 came and got rid of them both.
ReplyDeleteYAY. Zac's back.
ReplyDeleteMakes me more interested in the show, as Chuck was one of my favorite shows.
ReplyDeleteQuinto said back last summer that he may be open to returning, but doubted his schedule would allow it.
ReplyDeleteThought they took Zachary Quinto Ibalmost cared about tge casting. Levi? Not a fan, but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteFor a brief few seconds, I was really excited about this news. Then I finally realized that they were talking about a different Zachary. Meh.
ReplyDeleteI think Knepper could easily come back, for the others i truly don't think they're gonna come back.
ReplyDeleteSame here, I read Zachary and got happy that Quinto is returning.
ReplyDeleteMilo said he won't be returning.
ReplyDeleteKnepper better not be back
If only NBC could bring back Chuck. Happy for Zach though.
ReplyDeleteUgh, hated him.
ReplyDeleteHe's got the best chance of it working out schedule wise. IMDB has everything on his plate for 2015 listed as either completed or in Post.
ReplyDeleteOh I can relate to that. I didn't exactly enjoy the character, but as opposed to everyone else in that season who all had idiot balls glued to their hands, he was 'least awful' imo.
ReplyDeleteAnybody else mistakenly read it as Zachary Quinto?
ReplyDeleteThis is the best news ever ! I wasn't that interested by the show but now I'm really excited. Well played NBC !
ReplyDeleteOk, I hate Heroes (mostly because of the end of season 3), but with Levin on board, I'm definitely in.
ReplyDelete"TRENDING NOW!
ReplyDeleteHeroes Rebord - Zachary Levi gets lead role"
Hmmmm. Freudian slip, maybe? LOL
Yeihh, loved him on Chuck, definitely will try this show now that he´s in it.
ReplyDeleteYeihh, loved him on Chuck, definitely will try this show now that he´s in it
ReplyDeleteGood casting choice. It will bring in more viewers.
ReplyDeleteHopefully though NBC learned its lessons and will avoid the plot and character messes that the last couple of seasons deteriorated into.
The key will be for the writing team plan out a good story well in advance and stick to its execution. That's where Heroes went wrong in the first place: because the writing team followed social media too closely and adjusted their story telling to pander to some of the fans.
Examples: Sylar was supposed to be the big, big bad of the series. But Zachary Quinto played the part so well that his fan following sky rocketed, and for some reason the writers thought it would be a good idea to make Sylar more personable and flirted with a possible Sylar redemption arc. Add to this that at the time Veronica Mars had just been cancelled and people were so outraged that they were dying to see Kristen Bell in anything. Despite the fact that Elle was a horribly conceived character, people wanted to see Sylar and Elle get together because Zachary and Kristen mentioned that they were good friends in real life. I remember very clearly all of fanboy/fangirl gushing comments about putting them together. And the writers did but then broke them up when Sylar killed Elle. The result really was just a big convoluted mess.
Anyway, my point is that writers should plan their stories and tell them the way they want to and stick to it. If NBC follows this simple logic then maybe this version of Heroes will have more success.
Aww love him so happy with this casting.
ReplyDeleteAll i remember from this show is how when Sylar and Elle had sex, what a joke was that. One episode ended with Sylar and Elle kissing and Noah aiming to their heads with a sniper. The next episode begun and they already had sex, so they are having "the talk" when Noah shoots them...
ReplyDeleteThe dude waited and watched them have sex... Can't imagine what he did alone there behind the stones, watching Kristen Bell naked... I get why he missed the shot, his hands must be all slippery!
So he'll be one of the supers? Cool beans. Loved Chuck. :)
ReplyDeleteThat for me is really awesome news, I've waited to long to have my adorable nerd/Super Spy, Chuck Bartoski back on my Tv, looking forward for this reboot!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGod damnit I hate Heroes And now I HAVE TO watch this cause Zachary Levi is my favorite TV actor
ReplyDeleteI'm SO EXCITED!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Zachary Levi and I miss Chuck so this draws my interest. BUT they just destroyed all the awesome potential Heroes had in those last seasons of it. The first season? Great! The second was still pretty decent. After that I don't know what the hell happened. I hope this series learns from its mistakes the first time because I want to like this show and this cast. I really do.
ReplyDeleteAlso wasting characters that had a lot of potential like Elle, Knox, Adam Monroe, Peter's dad, etc.
ReplyDeleteInteresting casting.I have great hopes for this reboot.
ReplyDeleteI almost read Zachary Quinto!XD
ReplyDeleteI have hope with Heroes: Reborn. I mean, it's a miniseries, they can't screw it up so much like in Heroes, right?
I wasn't planning to watch the show but now I really do :) I missed Zachary!
ReplyDeleteThe Levi is back. One is more pumped for this now. Oh come on summer. Hurry
ReplyDeleteSweet!!! I love him!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but now i have to see it without Peter and Claire, when i saw the news i thought it said Zachary Quinto LOL
ReplyDeletesame LOL
ReplyDeleteso Peter losing his powers and the creator making from the most powerful Hero to not as powerful?
ReplyDeletehe sucked
ReplyDeletedid you see the joke about Heroes on TBBT?
ReplyDeleteSeason 2 two had good episodes, IMO it went down hill when they introduced the formula to mass produce powers and toke away peters powers. Most of Heroes plot line was Peter vs Sylar.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch it.What was the joke?
ReplyDeleteAwesome! He's an amazing actor! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHhhhmmm... I reeeeeally like him so I hope this works out for him... though it's Heroes. It can really go either way.
ReplyDeleteit was about closure for cancelled shows and the quote was "Heroes gradually lowered the quality season by season until we were grateful it ended"
ReplyDeletePeter's dad RUINED Peter's character by making the most powerful Hero into less powerful
ReplyDeletehopefully the most powerful after Peter lost his powers and can take one power at a time
ReplyDeleteNoooooo! As much as I want him to succeed, I'm not sure I can make myself watch a Heroes reboot. I'm so conflicted!
ReplyDeleteoh fuck yea! In whatever mode, he will be my favorite character again like he was before.
ReplyDeleteTrue statement but very insulting & harsh IMO.
ReplyDeleteI am excited, as long as they don't do what they did with Heroes. Season 1 was awesome! Regular people with super powers and a great cast. Season 4 ended up revolving around a girl trying to decide her sexuality while in college. The show went from super badass to glee type drama. Don't get me wrong, I love Glee, but not when it comes to a show about super heroes and villains.
