So Zoe is allowed to freak out and make Wade grovel because she isn't adult enough to have an actual conversation with someone and compare having a baby to ordering a curling iron and then collapse in a bathtub with a trail of cookies, but Wade can't process how it is going to affect him at all without sounding selfish? Really? Pretty sure it is going to change his entire life.
She doesn't get to make that decision unilaterally. She told Wade what he had to do, he did it and then she slammed the door in his face. He only got to know because he groveled.
No. He was told because, in a prior conversation with someone else, it was admitted that he would have to be told eventually anyway. It had nothing to do with groveling. There was absolutely no indication that Wade had somehow earned the information by kowtowing to Zoe.
Going to dinner and Wade trying to do everything right and saying hey let's take it slow, instigated the bathtub freak out, in which Zoe finally came to terms that things needed to be addressed. Even if there wasn't a one to one Zoe request, he only got back in the conversation because he kept coming to her, not her being an adult and talking to the man she's going to have a child with.
1. That's not groveling. It's just persistence. 2. The idea that Wade was only told because of his dogged pursuit of Zoe is silly. What is she going to do? Make up a fake father and leave him in the dark forever? 3. Zoe isn't acting any differently or any less adult-like than any Bluebell character. You seem to applying a different standard to Zoe than everyone else.
I repeat my edit above. I am not having a good time with my shows. And I apologize for my increased level of annoyance.
But, one of the reasons I'm upset is they are actually applying a different standard to Wade than they did to Zoe here. And frankly AB, Rose, George, Lavon, and even Wade and Lemon are more adult-like than Zoe at this point in their self-awareness and ability to communicate. But I will give you poor decision-making abounds.
George and Lavon just ratted out Lemon's fake boyfriend by phone out of jealously like they were sending a blast to Gossip Girl. Lemon was admittedly "in cahoots" with said fake boyfriend to swindle her own Grandmother. Brick spent the episode hiding his relationship with Shelby from his Mom like a teenager.
I, through past posts, understand your frustration with the show in specific regards to relationships. That being said, can you honestly say that the behavior presented above isn't just as immature as anything presented on Hart of Dixie?
I have no doubt that Zoe and Wade will figure this out. I almost wish neither George or Lavon end up with Lemon because their friendship is one of the best things in the new season and even before! If it has to be one of them I hope it's George because Lavon was a fool to let AB go and she's the one he needs to put all this effort into getting back!
Neither George nor Lavon deserve Lemon. They're acting petty and malicious. They didn't investigate Henry for Lemon's protection, they did it out of selfishness. They made what they'd learnt public instead of approaching Lemon because they wanted that relationship to fail without getting their hands dirty. None of what they did could be classified as romantic. I hope Dash has something really humiliating in store for them because they need some serious narrative punishment. Since it's probably too late for Lemon to find a new love interest, I hope her storyline revolves around Fancies and her happy ending is her rebuilding the restaurant and being the successful and independent businesswoman. George and Lavon can stay lonely.
As for Wade and Zoe, yes they're handling things badly right now. Babies are a big deal. They really are life changing. Plus Zoe's got the added excuse of hormones. It's not like their relationship was in a place where Zoe could securely believe that they'd all wind up as a happy little family unit. So it's logical that Zoe would see her best option to be to go it alone. Better to keep Wade at arms length than let him in and have it go badly again. it was bad enough for her the first time round, she now has a baby to factor in too, so of course she's going to play it safe. Regardless of her very real and serious feelings for Wade. Which was the whole point behind the Curling Iron discussion.
Oh you'd regret that! :-) I feel like I've dropped so many shows recently. At first I was actually quite proud of myself for walking away, but it is starting to put pressure on the remaining shows to be excellent, when they are not.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
can't wait
ReplyDeleteAw Wade...
ReplyDeleteSee that's why Lemon shouldn't be neither with George NOR Lavon...

ReplyDeleteHoly crap. They're finally giving Dash a storyline!? There must be a snowball fight going on in hell right now.
ReplyDeleteNo one made Wade grovel. It was Lemon who suggested he grovel.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't get to make that decision unilaterally. She told Wade what he had to do, he did it and then she slammed the door in his face. He only got to know because he groveled.
ReplyDeleteLook out, Lavon and George, when Lemon finds out it was YOU!

I should also ask, what other shows seem to be a source of frustration for you right now?
