  1. that picture with Zoe and Wade doesn't look very happy, damn it

  2. I think Zoe is already showing at that point, so Wade definitely knows.

  3. Showing in reality and supposed to be showing in the show might be different things. Because they were already hiding it last episode...so with the coat and the giant bag, we might still be "not supposed to notice."

  4. If they make Wade chase after her to NYC, I'm going to be unhappy. Oh who am I kidding, I'm unhappy about all of it. Not even Lavon getting his head out of his butt and being nice to Annabeth would make me happy at this point. She deserves better.

  5. The creator of the show said it lol

  6. We're in the final season and it turns out that Crickett gets the most interesting storyline. I think that sums up perfectly how well executed this show has been. I just chuckle, shake my head, and keep watching.

  7. Per the showrunner, by the end of 403 Zoe and Wade figure it out and there is a major resolution about what is going to happen with them.

  8. The secret to enjoying Hart of Dixie is to have no expectations. I watch each episode just to see everyone act like idiots. I have no investment in any of the show's romantic entanglements. I'm just here for the lunacy of it all. Every episode from here on out could be primarily focused on Don Todd and it wouldn't make a bit of difference to me.

  9. Aaaaaww.... He goes after her in New York.... Aaaaaaaww....

  10. I love these pictures and can't wait for this episode. Wade in NY should be rather entertaining.

  11. Well, you *are* a more reasonable TV watcher than I am. Season 1 I didn't care what happened. I liked George, I liked Wade, I liked Lavon. But I feel like they gave us character histories now that are more than personalities gelling. This season, I feel like they are asking us to abruptly reset to season 1 as though nothing as happened: there's been no closure, no resolutions, no changes. That's where I get frustrated. I actually might be happier if they did focus on Don Todd, he wasn't in season 1. Then, I wouldn't feel so crazy about remembering this is season 4.

  12. I'm gonna say something I never ever mention because A) I don't want to dip into 'shipper stuff and B) this show is primarily a comedy and I don't want to be a bummer. Here it is:
Any hope of this show crafting high-quality, satisfying relationship storylines went permanently out the window in episode 2.15 when Wade cheated on Zoe. Hart of Dixie just isn't that kind of show. It's not a primetime soap. It's a light, breezy comedy and doing something like that is so out of place it's like taking a wrecking ball to the chemistry of the whole show.

At the time, most viewers thought that the cheating was the beginning of the end but it was just the end. Tansy and Ruby were two very loud warning shots. This show is Leila Gerstein's first time as EP of her own show and as soon as she pulled the trigger on the cheating storyline I knew that this show was doomed creatively and that she was in over her head. Season one was pretty solid but from season two on this show has been one mistake after another: Tansy, Ruby, Wade cheating, Joel, the Lavon-AB breakup, every relationship Lemon has ever had, Brick and Shelby (rounds 2 & 3), Wade and Vivian, etc. etc. Basically, every relationship on this show (besides Wanda/Tom) has been a complete mess or was eventually turned into one.

I guess this is my very (very) long-winded way of saying that I learned very early on in this series not to get attached to relationships or expect anything in the way of personal growth or emotional progress because Hart of Dixie made it very clear in season two that it is horrible at that stuff. I watch this show as if absolutely everything that happens is one big joke. It's more enjoyable that way.

I completely agree. At the time I thought it was a big mistake, I think we might even have talked about it (?). I didn't care about them breaking Zoe/Wade up it had to happen, but the way they did it, burned the bridge and changed the show. I think they've gotten better at Bluebell as a cast of wacky characters over the course of the show. But balancing the need to grow characters and still keep coming up with new plots has been a real struggle. So secondary characters who don't need constant plots are easier: Crazy Earl, Tom and Wanda, Cricket. They can progress without having to revert constantly to keep a status quo of a long-running series. And that's what bugs me. I care about romantic relationships as they impact the characters, if Wade grew while dating Zoe, they killed it with him cheating. If Annabeth grew while waiting for Lavon and then deciding she deserved more, her going back to him would destroy that. Which is why the reset for a happy ending character pairing off frustrates me. Any good progress is gone we're right back where we started. You are right, I should let it go, but I'm not ready to be that calm yet. I was hoping they'd find a way to fix things so we could keep our character development, but all they did was play matchmaker.

  14. The way they split Zoe and Wade was so destructive, so caustic, and so out of place it's like Gerstein and her writers completely lost sight of what kind of show they were making. It was shortly after that when I realized I needed to drastically curb my expectations.

  15. IMO I think they freaked. Wade was growing so much as a character and Zoe was such a mess she was getting to be disliked and they didn't know how to fix it so Zoe would come out looking sympathetic and slow it down, and they fired a wild shot down range and the whole thing exploded. I knew part of it was over then. But there were great Annabeth moments and I liked Joel--heck I even like Shelby (well not with Brick that's absurd). I like the characters. The plots are where we have problems.

Gerstein and her writers have had flashes of brilliance and some really great dialogue that has been quite enjoyable. It's this mad rush to pair everyone off and set it in order that's got me riled up. Maybe by the end I'll be as zen as you. :-)

  16. Shelby, Annabeth, Vivian, and occasionally even Joel as individual characters were/are enjoyable. AB has always been great, Shelby is nuts but amusingly so, Vivian was potentially great because Zoe could have used another family member around, and even Joel could be witty on occasion. It's their relationships that doomed them. It's always the relationships that ruin things. As you said, it's things like dialog and the personalities of the individual characters (and the performances of the cast) that are the strong suit of Hart of Dixie so I'm able to enjoy it well enough just focusing on that. I hope you find enough to enjoy for the remainder of the series as well. :)

If I had my way, Bluebell would just feud with Mayor Gainey and Fillmore, Alabama for the rest of the series and forget about most of the relationship stuff.
