Update: 10:20 SpoilerTV have confirmed that the title of Spinoff will be called "Fear The Walking Dead". Below is the show synopsis.

The spinoff takes place during the same zombie apocalypse depicted on The Walking Dead but in a different location. It revolves around Sean Cabrera (Curtis), a divorced teacher and Nancy Tompkins (Dickens), a female guidance councilor. Dillane plays the Nancy’s son Nick, who has battled a drug problem. Debnam Carey, plays the Nancy’s ambitious daughter Ashley.

It looks like The Walking Dead spinoff series for AMC is called Fear The Walking Dead.

Or at least that’s the pilot episode’s name, in this September 2014 script. You be the judge.pilot

Things may change.

Written by Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman and Low Winter Sun‘s writer/producer Dave Erickson, if you want to know nothing about this AMC show stop right no. You have no need to read further.

The Walking Dead, both in comics and in TV, jumped forward. When Rick Grimes woke in the hospital, the zombie infection had happened, society, civilisation had collapsed, the survivors were trying to deal with the aftermath, pick up the pieces and survive – with the realisation that their imminent death was just around the corner. They had become the walking dead of the title.

This is not that show, at least not in the pilot script. The intro gives you a swerve, but the infection has not taken hold yet. The “walkers” are not yet known to the population at large, as society stands on the cusp of its own destruction.

  1. I don't know. For me, it sounds more like Fear This Show. The more I hear about it, the more I want to run away. Not sure if this show is for me.

  2. Really ? Are you friggin serious ? Fear The Walking Dead is the shows title ?

  3. Not what I was expecting at all

  4. So essentially by watching this show we will quickly get the answers we have been waiting for in the last 5 years?

  5. This is an even worse spin-off name than Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. What the hell?!?!

  6. I don't understand why they will make this show. Really, I don't get it!!! TWD is terrible nowadays; there is no story. For me, the worst mistake they did was to split up them in groups. When they did it, the show was over; All they do is to walk and walk and walk, get in empty houses, eat, drink, fight with some walkers and then, leave. Then, when the seaso is about to and they try to play with us, making us believe the show will evolve to something better, but it will not.

  7. I wish when a show is doing well they just keep the storylines to keep that show strong:) I love walking dead but don't want a spin off, I normally don't bother with them with the exemption of 2 (NCIS LA...I never watched the other NCIS shows though & originals as I have a crush on daniel gillies so I watch all his stuff)

  8. Sounds cool, a bit like The Strain (only hopefully not quite as retarded).

  9. No. I believe that is the title of the pilot episode.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I believe that is just the name of the pilot episode. Not the series.

    ReplyDelete
  11. No, it's the name of the show currently. Pilot is the name of the episode.

  12. Hello, how are you??? Are you going to have vacancies to new writers this year??

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hi.

Hopefully at the end of the season when we know which shows have been renewed/cancelled and which new shows have been picked up, we'll then know which shows we have vacancies for :)

  14. Not liking the title.

  15. what's with the name D: Fear: The Walking woul've sound a little bit better?

  16. The show is called colbalt, fear is just what it was titled in september

  17. I'm sure the title will change, and the script. Leaked scripts always are so different from the final one from what I've experienced. I don't read leaked scripts anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  18. But why? Is Cobalt already taken by someone else?

    ReplyDelete
  19. How do you know? Have you watched it yet? No, you haven't. Just like don't judge a book by its cover, don't judge a show by its spoilors/name/trailer. What if you end up liking it???

  20. If you go on YouTube, you can see the start of the apocalypse. It shows how biker gilt came to be and stuff. Its kinda old though. Maybe if you did some research... They gave us a lot of answers...

  21. Such a bad title.

  22. You basically described almost every zombie movie but that's what myself and other zombie lovers love. TWD has always been good but is better now than ever if you love the genre. Hell my wife hates stuff like that yet she can't wait to watch the show with me. People like you are going to ruin these shows for us. If you don't like it don't watch but please stop spreading your infectious hate around.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That title is so bad. It has to be a ruse. Something to keep us talking until it starts. I'd rather they called it The Dead World or The Killing Dead. Anything but that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think so too. That title has to be a working title only. It's so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  25. She's entitled to state her opinion on the show. How is her opinion going to ruin your enjoyment? She doesn't watch it with you.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ah... the drug addicted kid and the overly ambitious kid. Where have we seen this before... maybe like every movie and show made in the past ten years or so? We're talking about the drama of a damn zombie apocalypse for crying out loud, why is there a need to inject drama using stereotyped dysfunctional characters??? Why can't we just see how a normal, well-adjusted, every-day, American family deals with it?

Sounds like this show is going to be the Law and Order of zombie programs. Loads of stereotypes, lots of focus on "social issues", and completely missing the mark.

  27. Movie is one thing....a tv show with 5 seasons and the only thing they do is to walk, it's not good. But, unlike you, I respect your opinion and I don't think I have to stop watching just because I don't like it. I want it to get better, to have a better storyline. And I don't think me or people like me will ruin the show, because there are 16 millions of zombies watching it every Sunday. AMC doesn't care anymore about quality as long as people still watch it.
Keep being a zombie. You're good at it!!!!

  28. Thanks Tonil!!! Sadly, there are people who doesn't have respect!!! If he'd came here with arguments about why he thinks the show is good it would be great!!! But, as you can see, he can't to this!!! I used to love TWD but nowadays the show is terrible, IMO!!! As a viewer, I have all the rights to complain about it!!!!The producers have a great material to work with but they just put it aside and write whatever they want to because at the end of the day, there'll be millions of people watching it, no matter what!!!!

  29. you dont have to go on youtube it's on amc too

  30. If the show follows the comics it will get better. Especially if they introduce certain characters. The comics had a slow point too and I was about to give up, but I am glad I didn't! It gets so much better, but you have to give it sometime. Also remember the show is based off the comics so they are trying to slow it down so it doesn't catch up to the point of where they have to wait to continue the show. Have patience and I promise it will be worth it!

You know, at first, we did hear that this companion series would be about what happens at the beginning of the outbreak. We also heard that there would be no actors from The Walking Dead on this new show, that it was going to be a totally different area, and show what happened when the outbreak first occurred. Now, I hear that Dr. Jenner and Martinez were both cast for the new series, which totally contradicts what was said at the beginning. They put emphasis on the new show not being a spinoff. A spinoff would have known characters on it, it was said to be a companion series, now it's being switched up again. I would love to see Dr. Jenner at the beginning of the outbreak and see how the CDC and medical community attempted to figure out what was going on. I'll also say that I was not impressed, whatsoever, with the first two actor/actress that were cast as the young adults of the main character, Honestly, they looked too "pretty" to be in a ZA show lol. Then we heard that it was going to take place in LA, really? When I heard that, that made it feel even worse. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt, only because of the show runners involved, and hope for the best. It would be nice if we had something "good" that would run during the long ass down time they torture us with in between seasons. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something good comes out of all of this.

  32. I respect your opinion. However, for me personally I think the show is great. I also am a reader of the comic and recognize the show and the story line is based on an already written work. Yes, they do change a few things up, but essentially it follows the comic. Being a show based on an already written work does limit some of the story lines. I think that is what people don't realize. The new show will give the writters more freedom to expand the story lines. The story is based on a group of survivors in a zombie apocalypse that are walking around, looking for food, fighting off others, etc. I also agree the story will get better once they reach the D.C. area. I would encourage you to hang in there. It is the #1 show on cable and setting viewership records so somebody has to like it besides me.

  33. I hope so Courtney!!!! I just don't like the way they are doing it. What kill me is that in a season with 16 episodes, barely half of them are good or great and the rest is totally forgetful!!! I really like the show that's why I complain sometimes!!! But, let's have a little patience and I'm not taking this show too serious!!! Not expecting so much of it. Maybe this way, I have great surprises.
Thanks for your opinion and arguments!!! =)

  34. Not a big fan of the title. If it is following the start of the apocalypse they should have gone something more like "the rising dead". I find the title too long

  35. NO kirkman already said cobalt is the name of the show dumb asses

  36. You can't type worth a shit. Also, your opinion on this show is vapid and shallow. If you want something that is all action and no sub-text go watch something else and quit complaining. It's as simple as turning the channel. And one last thing, if you can't even write a simple post without 15 grammatical errors when there is something called auto-correct on every computer that literally points out your misspelled word, no one in their right mind is going to let you write for them professionally.

  37. What do I search for to find the Ep. where it is explained?

    ReplyDelete
  38. IT'S A WORKING TITLE FOLKS! This was a leak remember? It's likely gone thru 20 edits. Still, it will likely have "The Walking Dead" as a parenthenial title for branding reasons. ...@DARKUFO have you read the leaked script? Thanks for staying on top of this!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wasn't here to get into a debate on what's good and what's bad about the show. Do you watch the show as a fan of zombies or just as a regular viewer? I wouldn't even watch the show if zombies weren't in it. Its what all zombie fans have craved for years. A TV show about our favorite genre. If I went into every detail of what I loved or hated then we would be here all evening. I never even read the comic so what I see is fresh to me. Survival during the zombie apocalypse is what I love and last I checked that's pretty much what all five seasons and going forward was and is all about. Take your opinions and your respect and shove it. I don't have respect for people like you. Thank you and good day.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would have to say that you are entitled to your opinion but I disagree whole heartedly. No story? I don't know what you have been watching but it's a smorgesbord of stories. Carl becoming a man, Hershel hoping for peace, Rick struggle to stay sane and human, Rick coming to terms that sometimes you just have to be an animal, and many more. I've watched every episode of every season like ten times now. Also hasn't like every episode made headlines with its viewer base? Glad they make it the way it is for the 95% of us who love it. Long live the ricktator!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yea it's based off the comic and they share characters and a few scenes but other than that the show has evolved into its own entity . The way we are in the show , we will pass the comic and this is where they will shine. Kirkman has some very good ideas but sometimes he wonders how the story would of evolved if something (plot point, deaths, etc) changed or became different, he gets a second shot to show like a alternate reality I guess is a way of saying it. Same time though you have to pay homage. Which they have each season at some point. I don't want it to follow the comics. I've read the comics and no way do they beat the show. Just because he can do more taboo things in book compares to show and language. That don't bother me. I let my children watch this and it hasn't done anything for me to say ugggg. It's a awesome family show for the days now when do family's sit and watch tv every week together. It's awesome and awesome we love it. Long live the ricktator

  42. you go to amc, the walking dead. close to the top of the page there is a tab watch, when you put your mouse over it you can see all 3 webisodes listed

  43. *facepalms* really ? fear the walking dead ? that's the best title they can come up with ?!!
*backs away slowly from this show*

    ReplyDelete
  44. If anyone is waiting for "answers" with The Walking Dead, they must not understand what the show or the comic is about.

    ReplyDelete
  45. You talk about respect, and here you are calling people who enjoy the show zombies. Unfortunately, I see this all the time: someone saying something controversial, then someone responding disrespectfully, then they go back and forth both pretending like they think they're the one who is respectful of other people's opinions, when everyone can see clearly that neither of them are.

    ReplyDelete
  46. There are stereotypes and "social issues" (<-why the quotation marks?) in every story.

    ReplyDelete
  47. It isn't a spin-off; there are no characters from The Walking Dead cast in it so far, where did you hear that?

    ReplyDelete
  48. You're entitled to your opinion but I don't understand your need to ventilate this here. It's obvious that you will be bashed for your negativity. The people that come here are mostly fans. It's like you want to rattle their chain. I don't share your opinion at all. I fell in love with the show since its first episode and it only got better!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well the title not good need to come up with something better. This show needs to be better before this show airs it has to be OMG 100% good.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Right? I'm so sick of posters who constantly whine about how they need to know the source of the infection and watch the search for a cure. they say they are so sick of just watching the characters wander around trying to survive. Well, folks, that's the point of the story. For those of you who "would tell the a different way," go right ahead.
