As for another of ABC’s longer-running dramas, Lee told me that with Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic’s contracts due to expire this spring, “We love Castle, we love those two, and we want to see Castle on the air for many years to come.” Though not officially announcing a Season 8 renewal, he ventured to say, “It will be coming back.”

My Brother will be 'appy!
ReplyDeleteThis can't be really seen as a renewal, imo, but is just part of Lee's overly optimism. If we listen to him, ABC loves every show on the network and would renew everything if it weren't for the ratings.
ReplyDeleteHe specifically stated 'it will be back'. He didn't say that about, say, Revenge.
ReplyDeleteHope that's true!
ReplyDeleteWow, leave it to Lee to announce an early renewal without announcing an early renewal.
ReplyDeleteI hope that's true. I had my doubts about the new showrunner but he is doing a really good job.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, and I'm confident the show will be back if its two leads sign new contracts. Still, it's interesting that Lee says a show will be renewed but then doesn't renew it. I don't understand why they have to wait till May to announce renewals.
ReplyDeleteOf course it will be renewed. I think that was already clear
ReplyDeleteI´ll believe only when it´s officially announced! I´d love another season, but I think 8 is a good number to end:)
ReplyDeleteI hope it gets another season. Castle is the best show on TV. It's the only show that I will re watch over and over again.☺
ReplyDeleteWhy couldn't we get an official renewal for some shows, including this? LOL. Not a surprise.
ReplyDeleteI must catch up on this! I stopped at 6x11 or something like that... I didn't have the time before, but i have nothing to do now, so maybe i'll use this week with no Arrow/Flash to watch this... I watched Entourage in less than a week(I only watch shows at work...).
ReplyDeleteWell, this is being held back by contract negotiations. But I agree! ABC is absurd in waiting to the last possible second and then trickling renewals/cancellations out throughout a couple of days.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to figure out where the unofficial renewal comes in. That's just Paul Lee being himself.
ReplyDeleteABC always does this...drag out stuff
ReplyDeleteNot a big surprise. Castle, while dropping, still is in line with ABC 10:00pm shows that don't air on a Thursday. I just hope ABC has the guts to move it to Tuesday at 10:00pm where it will do far greater help to their time period average, like Person of Interest does for CBS despite losing some demos, and try something new after the dancing.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, Scandal is unofficially renewed.
ReplyDeleteWhile this is no surprising news, still good to hear it from paul lee himself!Long live beckett!
ReplyDeleteSaying it will be back doesn't really mean anything until the two leads renew their contracts. I don't think they won't - the question is how long they'll renew it for. Will s8 be the last?
ReplyDeleteI for one hope the show ends next season. I wanted it to end this season but it doesn't look like it will.
Awesome but I will wait for official word. As for those who want it to end, Scorpion and State of Affairs are available during that same time slot.
ReplyDeletei hope castle is renewed for a 8th season
ReplyDeletewe all love castle
