God I hate him. LOL I hate Ray so much, probably not as much as I hate the other one, but they're close. LOL I just hate his face, and really? He's gonna joke at a time like that? That was terrible. Lol
come the eff on people! Ray is hilarious and also just almost gave his life for Felicity...aka your favourite...eh....really letting your ship cloud your judgement? And you guys wonder why I hate ships
It's amazing how a minute and a half clip can make me dislike an episode without seeing it. I never thought I could hate Ray more but he rose to the occasion, "I've got a few bucks" again with the money???? So is he going to keep coming into rooms bragging about how much money he has? Seriously we get it you are rich! And his eyes and expressions continue to creep me. And the fighting sequence looked weird and disjointed. Maybe it was the editing or the camerawork but either way I am not happy.
He does weird s**t but he is a nice guy. Last episode Felicity was out of place and instead of getting pissed he went like "you are upset. we can talk about it if you want..." and then told her she was out of place. He's a awkward nice guy with a lot of money that wants to get what he wants.
People seems to believe this is real life. Him gps tracking her or knowing her dress size is just cheap plot devices to fast track what's hapenning. xD
You won't in the episode (well the illusion is already destroyed so you will) but usually you're not ment to see such raw footage. Seen the Wonder Woman pilot? Unedited as well
We also so Barrowmans stuntdouble. I can usually live with such scenes and accept it for what it is. But when someones set to hate a scene or character they're usually way quicker with finding flaws. (because the illusion is already broken)
You know i wish Ray would apologize for all the tracking he has done also. Because it rubbed me the wrong way that Felicity apologized to the creepy eyes and he has never done so.
So he tracked her down at her home? Told her how she feels. I had a guy tracked me down once on several locations. Let just say his sensitive area was extremely sensitive that day. If someone doesnt know the meaning of the word NO the he has to feel it.
So much criticism for one character...I don't quite get it. I thought they did a much better job at hiding BR stunt double compared to the fight with Ra's and Oliver. They did a really bad job of hiding MN double. In this at least the smoke does a better job at hiding the stunts face. He serves a purpose in the overall Arrow universe outside of any ship and he's a good guy!! He's a nerd that lacks social graces that's how I read his pinning Felicity's cell phone. People need to move on...
Oliver went to her place of work, which he happened to own. Did he ask her to do shady things? Yes. But she willingly did them. He never once GPS tracked her phone to find her because he simply had to give her his side of an argument she already expressed no interest in hearing.
I wish people would stop writing off legitimately problematic behavior as hatred over a ship. I was excited at the prospect of Ray at the beginning of the season, but he's displayed behavior over the course of the season that make it difficult to warm up to him.
I'm glad you like him, that's great, but there are legit reasons not to.
what are you talking about?? I don't hate him b/c of my ship. Pleaseee give me a break with that. I hate BR. And I find Ray extremely annoying. And he doesn't know boundaries.
Technically Oliver owned the company. And asking an IT expert for help is waaaay different from tracking her phone TWICE and dropping unannounced at her home. You really think that behavior is OK and the only reason I don't like it is because I ship Olicity?
You're talking to someone that had a girl follow him from school to bus stop even to my home. So I know that crap but sparky...let's be honest here: if you double question a TV show your problems with the character in questions go deeper than you being incapable of suspending your disbelief. It's legit fear.
People did it with EVERY ship-obstacle and will in the future
He ididn't even track her in a romantic way... He needed her brains, that's all. He WANTED her to work with him at all costs because he knows how intelligent she is.
It's just a contrived plot device. Is he awkward and weird? Yes. Does he think he can use money to do quite a lot? Yes. Is he a bad person? No.
He said it to her. He does business and by doing that, you tend to piss people off.
I just don't see it. Also i think he acts all "i'm too happy" to hide the fact that when he gets home he is a sad person.
Nope i see a control freak with Ray a guy who monitors a girls move just to talk to her. Its quite scary. I dont care if its a guy/girl doing it i just cant. Also the EPs selling it as charming scares me a lot.
The fighting sequence didn't really bother me because it focused either on a bunch of desk jockeys or (our presumed heroes Laurel and Ray) trying to fight without looking like they *know* how to fight. Until now the bulk of the fighting sequences have been experience fighters.
I do not like Ray. At all. Totally with you. Not only is he *always* telling us he's rich, he's going to save the city...but he keeps treating Felicity like he's her property; his kept woman. Annoying is an understatement. But the clip itself didn't really bug me.
He did track her in a romantic way though, when he went to Verdant to explain himself after she told him that they should forget about the kiss and that she wanted to keep things professional.
If that makes someone uncomfortable and they don't like the guy over it? Or if they think he's too aggressive? Who cares?
I didn't prove anything here, I shoved your point aside and then answered it in a legit way.
Come on, you can't suspend your disbelief over than and blindly accept Felicity being a super hacker with extraordinary skills that are never shown to us but said to be there? To criticism against her but the nitpicky nature of shippers that see their object of interest endangered.
This has happened so often in the past that it's blatantly obvious. And boy I loved all these "it's legit hate against Tyler because [insert nitpicky reason while completely ignoring other flaws with similar characters]"
You're holding Ray to different standards than other Arrow characters and this is where your logic crumbles. Because on this show, they're all pretty much on par with their creepiness.
It has nothing to do with Olicity AT ALL. I even didn't mind Felicity dating someone else when we first heard about him during the summer. She is not supposed to wait around until Oliver decides that loving her is not a distraction! I hate Ray as a character and I have very legitimate reasons for that. I didn't hate Sara because she dated Oliver, did I? So stop justifying my hatred for him because simply he is here to steal Oliver's girl. And Ray is NOT a male version of Felicity!! If that's their intention then they are failing miserably at writing/portraying that.
Because the reason she was upset was because how he left after the kiss, not the kiss itself. He wasn't planning on kissing her and i didn't see her not wanting the kiss. So stop treating this as "Felicity didn't want that". She kissed him.
He went an explain to her because they weren't working on a profesional level either with that in the way.
You certainly did prove my point by dismissing me by calling me a member of the Olicity brigade and shoving my perfectly good reasoned argument for someone not liking Ray by again calling it shipper bias.
Suspending belief that Felicity is a super hacker, or that Oliver can defeat armed criminals with only a bow and an arrow is not the same as getting behind romanticized behavior that makes me uncomfortable.
I am completely NOT a shipper....anti if anything. But i do not like the way he treats Felicity half the time. Buying an employee clothes (without asking ) is NOT okay in my book. That's how a**es treat the mistress who is supposed to be at his beck and call. It's insulting and possessive and it just rubs me the wrong way and is a huge reason why I do not trust the character.
He's not a super quirky, nice and lovable person with a heart of gold that cares about those around him and motivates him to help the people around him? Also he's nerdy....that is the perfect way to describe BOTH Felicity and Ray.
Is she...Olivers girl though? *tickling you with a feather until you scream at me*
There is a difference between being socially awkward and being pushy and not respecting boundaries. I agree about MN's double I just said that in a previous comment and that actually was a criticism towards the directing and the editing of the scene it had nothing to do with BR (for once lol) maybe he is a good guy and he is trying to save the city but that doesn't mean giving him a free pass on his questionable behavior.
It doesn't matter what his reasoning was for the kiss - she flat-out told him she wanted to keep things professional (i'm sure it won't remain that way, but that was her decision at the time), and he felt telling his side of the story was so important that he GPS tracked her phone to find her at Verdant because it just. couldn't. wait. Damn what she wants, you know?
I'm not saying that everyone needs to find his behavior questionable, I just think it's complete bullshit to write off someone's bad opinion of the guy as shipper bias.
It wasn't perfectly well reasoned wich is why I dismissed it. Oliver gets to enter an office he has no business being in and pretty much mis-use an employee for his own purposes? This isn't morally wrong in your book? Well then I'm happy to inform you that you're holding way to a different standard than Oliver. No matter Ollies intentions he still mis-used her trust, entered an office he had no business being in and repeadetly visited her there using her for his own needs until he showed her and she joined him willingly. Oliver is as bad as Ray. And I actually believe that you don't see this. It's a way of dealing with a threat, dismissing that threat as "morally wrong" is a way of dealing with issues that is very human.
Holding characters in the same universe to different standards is a pretty hypocritical way to warrant dislike towards a character. People accepted the tell-don't-show aspect of powers with characters like Sara, Oliver, Slade but have giant issues with Thea and Laurel. These two being generally disliked characters.
It appears to me as if hyper criticism of characters is todays way of blowing off steam. And given the hugely defensive comments here....my point has actually been proven in my book
You know Mac, you're the one that started this shipping nonsense, once you ASSUMMED that people didn't like Ray b/c of the ship And that wasn't the case. At ALL. No one mentioned shipping EXCEPT YOU! That was a stupid move on your part. Honestly. IT IS possible to dislike a character individually, B/c of said character, and not b/c of anyone else. It does happen. Now you want to complain b/c people are arguing with you, WHICH wouldn't have been an argument, if you didn't make assumptions to begin with. You're the one that had the one track mind (on shipping) not anybody else. That's was your fault buddy. Now you won't hear the end of it. Sorry, but you made your bed, now you gotta lay in it. Word of advice: Next time, don't make assumptions, (b/c you know what happens when you assume) it's better off if you ask questions. Don't drag other characters in, when they weren't even mentioned.
I didn't say that it was a shipper thing. I don't think it is. What he does has nothing to do with Oliver and it's not what people are mad at.
Look, Felicity is a genius. She graduated from MIT at age 19, if someone could help him make the suit and honor his wife, it was her... He said she is more inteligent than him. That was why he tracked her at the hospital and why he wanted for her to work for him no matter what.
Now, the dinner was a work dinner. Then they kissed. Both partyes agreed. He didn't forced her or anything like that. He bought her a beautiful dress(let's ignore the size thing, because it's a tv show and that was a contrived plot point) and a beautiful necklace. Then after dinner they both kissed. He felt guilty and walk away(like Oliver did, he walk away on her by choosing The Arrow instead of her).
She was cold and distant and sarcastic with him(she had every right to be). The kiss was messing with their profesional work. And he needed her for the suit. So, he explained to her "why he walked away", to see if that helped her pardon him.
There was a logic behind telling her Anna's story. After the kiss they couldn't work together.
He is awkward, weird and thinks he can run over the world with his money. But he ain't no stalker... It's a harsh word to use. He's not a bad person. I actually think he is a really sad one that fakes being happy and quirky around people.
Oliver went to Felicity's place of business (we can argue as to whether or not he had a right to be there - I firmly believe that he did), and asked her to do him a favor, a favor that she willingly did. Was it sneaky? Sure. Was it morally wrong? I don't think so. Was Ray approaching Felicity at Tech Village and allowing her to offer her expertise on how to hack into corporate networks without disclosing who he was and what he was doing with that information morally questionable? Absolutely. But I don't dislike him for doing that. I don't really have an issue with it at all.
It's Ray's lack of respect for personal boundaries that make me uncomfortable, such as showing up at her house outside of work hours and tracking her down at a location that is NOT work outside of work hours, especially after she specifically told him that she wanted to keep things professional between them and they should pretend like the kiss didn't happen. But no, him telling her his side of the story was more important than what she wanted.
Sorry replying to the general thread not just your response. Everyone see's him differently..I just don't get the hate towards him. What's a super hero show without a billionaire who wants to save the city.
Ok seriously, Ray is no where in the same league as Bruce or Tony. Give me a break get off it!! This further proves the point that Ray can't even pull off what Bruce and Tony do. Tony and Bruce are both suave, and have a charming charisma about it. But they don't sit aroung mentioning it every second of the day, like Ray. When Ray does it, he's just plain cocky!! No charm WHATSOEVER!
It's ok I know you were commenting in general. My problem isn't with the general idea of Ray but the way he is portrayed. It makes me uncomfortable and what's even more scary is that I find his actions stalkery and pushy but the writers are treating it as charming and romantic. You know the writers said more than once that they deliberately wrote Ray as a shady character but people ignored that and justified his actions because he is supposed to be a hero.
Dude, seriously, i'm trying to defend Ray without even mentioning the ships. People don't like Ray because how he was written and IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OLICITY. They think the man's a stalker... that's the problem.
MEGA FACEPALM! Again it was a bid. And you're just making it worse, by placing this god forsaken Batman movie on the thread. Smh...Everyone knows this was the worst Batman ever. Even George hated this movie.
I never called him a stalker, though. I said his behavior was problematic, and it is. Because, see...he puts his needs above her privacy. I'm not even holding anything that happened while he recruited her against him - the way he kind of harassed her into working for him, because I get recruiting and I know he wanted her brain.
But he needs to talk to her about a co-generation project? He knocks on her door and walks right in without being invited. Never mind the fact that he could call her, he could wait until she actually gets into work, what he wants is the most important thing. She tells him he wants to keep it professional when she's clearly upset and leaves work? He could broach the subject with her at work, but no. He tracks her down in her off time because him explaining himself is more important than her privacy.
I realize these are plot devices, but they don't really need to be. And it also bugs that TPTB don't understand why people might take issue with this behavior. I've had a stalker, and he did way worse things to me than Ray has done to Felicity. And for her part, I realize that Felicity doesn't seem to take issue with the things that he does - but they make ME uncomfortable, so it makes it difficult for ME to root for him.
I could like Ray - I don't have some deep-seated hatred of him or anything, and I'm sure he is a really lonely guy who hides behind his quirkiness and buries himself in his work and truly wants to do good. He just needs to lower the creep factor before I can get on board with it.
His money comments don't bother me so much, because he is a cocky rich guy. But I love how he chimed in with the money comment in response to what Quentin said even though he wasn't even in the room to hear the conversation. Did he plant a bug in there or something? Haha
When you say was it morally wrong, it kinda was because unbeknown to her he was trying to get a sense of whether she would be a good fit with him and Diggle. He did lure her in - maybe on the surface it was to help find Walter; but she had a crush on him from Day 1. Who's to say he didn't use that to his advantage? She did finally make up her own mind. I don't know, I see him as been socially awkward and doesn't quite get the fact that he's not respecting her boundaries. She's a nerd too so it could be that he thinks that she's on the same wavelength. That's just my take on him...has been from the started and nothing has changed since then.
Shannon, if you ever see me post a gif of THE BAT CREDIT CARD you can be 100% sure that I'm just joking around. I stopped genuinely discussing this a few minutes ago and went full nutball
We reached common ground. I agree. He does put his "crusade" over her personal space.
He wants her to help him build the suit so he will go to extremes to do that. And i think it's a cool scene when Felicity goes and say "okay, you're telling me half of things and you're not gonna make me work for you like that" and then he shows her the suit and tells her her plan. Because that showed him that the shady way he was doing things wans't the right one to get her on board.
If he would be honest from the beginning, things would have gone better.
But i think people calling him a full stalker is not ok. They're using the word wrong.
Didn't know that part about him been shady...may be I just assumed but I thought he was brought in to the show to draw a direct comparison between him and Oliver. The fact that Ray can go the super hero route, keep a day job going and have a love life or potential love life. I guess the way some people can't stand how Laurel has become the BC and others are all gung ho about it there are 2 lines of thought about how Ray has been written as a character.
Yeah, I'm not saying it definitely wasn't morally wrong. It's kind of a grey area for me, because when he went to Felicity with the laptop, I don't think he was intending on continually needing her help. He should've definitely told her what he was up to though, but I get why he didn't, because he didn't know her that well and she could've had him thrown in jail for all he knew. I think Ray did something similar when he went to Tech Village, knew who Felicity was, and allowed her to explain to him exactly how to hack into QC's network without explaining to her who he was or what he was doing with the information. Am I holding that against him? No. He's a businessman, and an incredibly successful one at that.
So, you know, I'm not holding something against Ray that I wouldn't hold against Oliver. I don't have a single issue with the way Ray behaves with Felicity at work. I don't even really care that he persuaded her to go to dinner with him using a nice dress and a necklace, although I would've preferred that Felicity had agreed to go without those things. I just think he has a lack of respect for personal boundaries that a) makes me uncomfortable and b) makes it difficult for me to root for him as a love interest for Felicity.
I said the truth!!! You're the one searching for something More for people to say! When do I never not say the truth? I say what I have to say and I meant it. I don't sugarcoat shit. And everyone here knows that. If you were looking for some "deeper meaning" You weren't gonna get it, b/c there was nothing else TO say. Again. Next time if you're looking for some "buried words" then you ask questions. It's not my fault that you couldn't just accept a simple comment. You wanted to dig for something that wasn't there. Shrugs.
"And went full nut ball" Yeah I see you went Gif happy. Sigh.....I just saw a YouTube video last week about this movie. The video was long, like 18 min. And it was about ALL the things wring with this movie. I mean the guy who's talking about it just GOES IN, non stop, no mercy. And iI laughed soooo hard!!! I only made it to 6 minutes before iI had to stop the video. I cried with laughter and my stomach hurt soooSooo bad. LOL I MUST share it with you, it's too funny!!
Between that Batman movie and Spider Man 3 i don't know wich is worst. There's a video called "101 reasons why Spider Man 3 sucked", it's hilarious they're like "33: Eric Foreman", "67: Eric Forman again", "88: Can't we just kill Eric Foreman?".
You're doing it again Mac. You're devaluing someone's opinion (which I don't agree with I like Ray, but he does have creepy tendencies) and calling them shipper blind without even hearing them out.
Dude just admit you like to troll. This is getting annoying. Every post you bring shipping into it (often before others do) and claim that almost anyone who dislikes a character is due to shipping. Just admit you like causing shit in the fandom and stop generalizing everything. The fights are getting annoying.
Exactly! That's why I don't hate the idea of Ray. He can teach Oliver a thing or two. But I hate the way that he's been written. You can't please everyone of course.
snap back into it dude, I don't like to troll, I like to call out hypocrisy when I see it. And I do see it in this instance. Ray is judged harsher than Oliver every was because he opposes a romantic couple...and you know what? That's fine. It's natural to react that way, however I like to point it out when I see it.
religious nutballs, seriously the tea party has nothing to offer this country but immense trouble due to their fairly clouded views on finances and foreign politics. I'm not a hardcore liberal but let's admit it: there's no republican politician I can even mildly agree with.
Oh, imagine all the angst on that relationship... He did kill his mother and pretty much wanted to kill him too. But they will make things work out loveeeee!! I'm sure they will! Nothing can stop their love! :3
Oliver stands in front of Slade, Olis eyeliner and makeup is completely messed up due to his constant crying. Slade slowly touches his cheek and says: "For all these years...my hate for you was just a way...to let my love reach you" *Wild Horses starts playing in the background* Oliver and Slade kiss
Then there's too much biceps and pecs rubbing. For Season 2 Oliver continues with his "identity problem" since he now wants to operate himself to be a full woman for Sly. But Slade wants him as he is now: a well fit tranny by day, an "avocado" coloured vigilante by night.
"You don't have to change for me, kiddo", a crying Slade screams to Oliver from the other side of the street."I love you. Do you understand?"
Oliver, tears running over his rosed cheeks, runs across the streets to his man. Slade then takes him up like Swayze did on Dirty Dancing. He slowly drops him while running his fingers all over his back.
"I love you too, one eyed bastard" says Oliver, while raining starts to fall."You can't imagine all the things i'm gonna do with that hole in your eye".
Imagine Dragon's "I bet my life" starts playing in the background.
He's judged as creepy because he shows up at her house (which is really weird for an employer) and because he tracks her with GPS. I like Ray but that's pushing boundaries. Mac your shipper argument has no weight here.
I was watching "The Daily Show" earlier and saw clips from the "Freedom Summit" (pardon me while I roll my eyes at that title) that the Republicans had here in my home state of Iowa recently. They still listen to and invite people like Sarah Palin (who delivered a seriously incoherent speech) and Donald Trump, and make them believe their deluded opinions on issues actually matter and hold weight. That alone is enough to make me continue to distance myself from that party as much as humanly possible. And you're right, their platform remains the exact same one they had in 2012 and 2008. They haven't learned a damn thing. There's nothing there worthy of my support or votes. The fact those loons were in my state makes me very sad.
This is true, sadly. But I think the vast majority of Americans don't take much stock in his opinions (I hope not, anyway), and yet the Republicans' support keeps him in the public eye and spouting his arrogant opinions anyway, and it's just...frustrating. The way the media reports on him all the time doesn't help matters, either. I know he's got money and power, but god, I'd just really love to see someone tell him, to his face, especially, to shove off (to put it politely :p) and just shut up for once.
Well at least Bill Maher, and Jon Stewart will :). Actually there was this great twitter comment: basically when Obama won Trump all but proposed a revolution, and in response someone said to him that revolutions don't go well for people who wear wigs. Just awesome.
Actually Felicity did call Ray a stalker. said something like "you're the creepiest form of stalker that I ever had to deal with, and believe me that's saying a lot."
Well , I saw a sneak peek with 178 comments. I directly thought it was about Laurel !! Guess i was right. This Laurel-bashing is kinda boring now. Get over it for god sake ...
I have to be a victim of a stalker to hate stalkers? So by this definition in order for me to hate murderers I have to get killed first? If that's the case then we shouldn't hate Malcolm.
Is this your first attempt at logic? if so, valiant effort!
But see: murder is a much clear cut thing because of its outcome, the cessation of another's life. You can then go into the specificity -negligence,assasination,etc- but the thing is, someone is dead.
Now, to take that leap of logic that utterly defines Ray as a stalker by you, what the hell is a stalker to you? more so, if Felicity doesn't see his behavior as proof of him being a stalker, neither does anyone else in universe, you can only make a case that the show is being problematic, but that is entirely subjective.
I was being nice when I said that there were valid reasons to see Ray as a stalker. You see, the only valid reason is if you have Stalker bias from experience. If you don't have it? Yeah, you are just cheapening something serious because don't like a character.
Hard to argue with a logic like that!! You really opened my eyes and made me realize how my hatred for him clouded my judgement and made me "the only person in the universe" who thinks that he is a stalker. How will I live with the guilt? smh.
You see, usually I don't reply to such condescending comments or engage in pointless arguments (much like this one) because I have better things to do with my time and because I come to this site to discuss my favourite shows with people who love them as much as I do, not to fight. But in this case I take full responsibility for this conversation; since I'm the one who replied to your comment in the first place. I should've done what everyone else in the site did, which is ignore your comment. Have a nice day!
Well good for Laurel fans then. The EP did say the Laurel fans will like the arc. And its not like its not the first time people bitch about an episode. They did it for other characters also. Threatening they will boycott certain episodes. Its not like it just happens for one character.
Ok it looks great but why the hell is Laurel so bad? I mean she is suppose to inherit her sister, but what i'm seeing is way too untrained and way to easy to beat Laurel.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Looks intense!
ReplyDeletewhat a mess could not see anything properly.
ReplyDeleteUmmm ... I hope the episode is better.
ReplyDeletethat's why I need a techno-suit.
ReplyDeleteGod I hate him. LOL I hate Ray so much, probably not as much as I hate the other one, but they're close. LOL I just hate his face, and really? He's gonna joke at a time like that? That was terrible. Lol
ReplyDeleteSo do I. Or hopefully the next clip will be better.
ReplyDeleteI love how Laurel is struggling
ReplyDeleteWhat did Laurel take from her shoe - did she break her heel? Glad Oliver is back at the end of the next episode.....
ReplyDeleteWe probably will get a Roy/Laurel scene.
ReplyDeleteprobably not. I will probably be the scene where Roy and Diggle confront Laurel
ReplyDeleteSorry but...COME ON. If that was Oliver you would be drooling. But no, the obstacle between your ship is SOOOO terrible gah
ReplyDeletecome the eff on people! Ray is hilarious and also just almost gave his life for Felicity...aka your favourite...eh....really letting your ship cloud your judgement? And you guys wonder why I hate ships
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how a minute and a half clip can make me dislike an episode without seeing it.
ReplyDeleteDidnt we already saw that in the EPs preview.
ReplyDeleteeither the editing or the quality, that's what bothers me.
ReplyDeletebut they'll probably show the full scene. We saw this in the producer's preview as well.
ReplyDeleteusually sneak peeks are mostly raw cuts.
ReplyDeleteIt annoyed me and usually I enjoy Arrow fighting scenes a lot.
ReplyDeleteI get that, even the sound was bad but the picture just kept jumping around it was hard to watch.
ReplyDeletenow and then I have my issues with Arrow editing, but this time it really is awful. Maybe the quality is making it especially awful.
ReplyDeletethey do that quite often, TO actually lacked fangs in some trailers.
ReplyDeletethey had to use filters to hide the stunt people
ReplyDeletethat can usually be done by blurring out their faces. However that scene isn't really too stunt heavy
ReplyDeleteYeah i just think they will go for Roy & Laurel in their suits together.
ReplyDeleteCanada is stricter with the stunts actors can actually make alone if they dont have any stunt training.
ReplyDeleteYeah, she snapped off her heel.
ReplyDeleteI really hope the editing for the actual episode is way better.
ReplyDeleteMission not accomplished! I could totally tell when it's BR's stunt double.
ReplyDeleteHe does weird s**t but he is a nice guy. Last episode Felicity was out of place and instead of getting pissed he went like "you are upset. we can talk about it if you want..." and then told her she was out of place. He's a awkward nice guy with a lot of money that wants to get what he wants.
ReplyDeletePeople seems to believe this is real life. Him gps tracking her or knowing her dress size is just cheap plot devices to fast track what's hapenning. xD
You won't in the episode (well the illusion is already destroyed so you will) but usually you're not ment to see such raw footage.
ReplyDeleteSeen the Wonder Woman pilot? Unedited as well
well we still saw Theas stunt double in the episode also.
ReplyDeleteI can understand the lack of CGIs but here the performance itself looked bad.
ReplyDeleteWell he's Ray "The Obstacle" Palmer, people won't accept his flaws like they do with Oliver and Felicity because they're set to hate him.
ReplyDeleteSadly I think I would've noticed even without that clip. In the Oliver/Ra's fight, it was awesome and all but I could tell when it was Matt's double.
ReplyDeleteYup.
ReplyDeleteWe also so Barrowmans stuntdouble. I can usually live with such scenes and accept it for what it is. But when someones set to hate a scene or character they're usually way quicker with finding flaws. (because the illusion is already broken)
ReplyDeleteYeah, the problem with Amell doing some stunts on his own is that you then actually spot his doubles when they actually get to do something.
ReplyDeleteWith Matt it was actually pretty easy because of....the belly. Matt isn't too shredded but his double was
You know i wish Ray would apologize for all the tracking he has done also. Because it rubbed me the wrong way that Felicity apologized to the creepy eyes and he has never done so.
ReplyDeletebut....but....Oliver also tracked her down in season 1 and made her do some questionable things while outright lying to her...
ReplyDeleteHe tracked her in her office????? Come on who is nitpicking now?!
ReplyDeleteOther than the physical appearance, when they showed his face from the side during the fight it was obvious when it was Matt and when it wasn't.
ReplyDeleteSo he tracked her down at her home? Told her how she feels. I had a guy tracked me down once on several locations. Let just say his sensitive area was extremely sensitive that day. If someone doesnt know the meaning of the word NO the he has to feel it.
ReplyDeleteSo much criticism for one character...I don't quite get it.
ReplyDeleteHe approached a simple IT worker who wasn't to be consulted by non QC employees (what he wasn't)
ReplyDeleteI'm not nitpicking just pointing out the stupidity the shipper fandom brings out by hating on a character they precieve as a threat to their ship.
I called this would happen when he was announced as a love interest for Felicity.
Everyone would question someone unrelated to the firm approaching a simple associate.
Oliver went to her place of work, which he happened to own. Did he ask her to do shady things? Yes. But she willingly did them. He never once GPS tracked her phone to find her because he simply had to give her his side of an argument she already expressed no interest in hearing.
ReplyDeleteI wish people would stop writing off legitimately problematic behavior as hatred over a ship.
ReplyDeleteoh great, the Olicity brigade jumping me....I'll take cover while you sprew your...:"NO RAY FELICITY BELONGS TO OLIVER" sh*t :)
ReplyDeleteProbably.
ReplyDeletealso he had no business aproaching her, simply because the firm WASN'T his.
ReplyDeleteHis name might've been on it, not his company though
well since SA did the whole duel, not much editing was necessary and that's also how they normally try to hide the fact that it is a stuntman
ReplyDeleteActually...hating the actor beforehand is a legit reason, carry on
ReplyDeleteTechnically Oliver owned the company. And asking an IT expert for help is waaaay different from tracking her phone TWICE and dropping unannounced at her home. You really think that behavior is OK and the only reason I don't like it is because I ship Olicity?
ReplyDeleteYou're talking to someone that had a girl follow him from school to bus stop even to my home. So I know that crap but sparky...let's be honest here: if you double question a TV show your problems with the character in questions go deeper than you being incapable of suspending your disbelief. It's legit fear.
ReplyDeletePeople did it with EVERY ship-obstacle and will in the future
He ididn't even track her in a romantic way... He needed her brains, that's all. He WANTED her to work with him at all costs because he knows how intelligent she is.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a contrived plot device.
He didn't, his step father did. Olivers name might've been on it but he had no business ties to the company.
ReplyDeleteI think you're projecting the threat of an obstacle to your ship on a character that will never get the girl.
People love Felicity who is basically a female Ray. And despise Ray in return.
Nope i see a control freak with Ray a guy who monitors a girls move just to talk to her. Its quite scary. I dont care if its a guy/girl doing it i just cant. Also the EPs selling it as charming scares me a lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for proving my point.
ReplyDeleteThe fighting sequence didn't really bother me because it focused either on a bunch of desk jockeys or (our presumed heroes Laurel and Ray) trying to fight without looking like they *know* how to fight. Until now the bulk of the fighting sequences have been experience fighters.
ReplyDeleteIts still stalking. And we had Felicity mentioned she had stalkers before. Why go that road again.
ReplyDeleteI do not like Ray. At all. Totally with you. Not only is he *always* telling us he's rich, he's going to save the city...but he keeps treating Felicity like he's her property; his kept woman. Annoying is an understatement. But the clip itself didn't really bug me.
ReplyDeleteHe did track her in a romantic way though, when he went to Verdant to explain himself after she told him that they should forget about the kiss and that she wanted to keep things professional.
ReplyDeleteIf that makes someone uncomfortable and they don't like the guy over it? Or if they think he's too aggressive? Who cares?
I didn't prove anything here, I shoved your point aside and then answered it in a legit way.
ReplyDeleteCome on, you can't suspend your disbelief over than and blindly accept Felicity being a super hacker with extraordinary skills that are never shown to us but said to be there? To criticism against her but the nitpicky nature of shippers that see their object of interest endangered.
This has happened so often in the past that it's blatantly obvious.
And boy I loved all these "it's legit hate against Tyler because [insert nitpicky reason while completely ignoring other flaws with similar characters]"
You're holding Ray to different standards than other Arrow characters and this is where your logic crumbles. Because on this show, they're all pretty much on par with their creepiness.
Yessss, his money comments are very annoying.
ReplyDeleteAgain? There are an alarming amount of assaults on local government and law enforcement in this city.
ReplyDeleteIt has nothing to do with Olicity AT ALL.
ReplyDeleteClose the city borders I say!
ReplyDeleteLet these people deal with the situation themselves. No need for any intervening actions.
- Rand Paul (not really...but this is probably what he would say)
Because the reason she was upset was because how he left after the kiss, not the kiss itself. He wasn't planning on kissing her and i didn't see her not wanting the kiss. So stop treating this as "Felicity didn't want that". She kissed him.
ReplyDeleteHe went an explain to her because they weren't working on a profesional level either with that in the way.
And like i say, it's a contrived plot device...
You certainly did prove my point by dismissing me by calling me a member of the Olicity brigade and shoving my perfectly good reasoned argument for someone not liking Ray by again calling it shipper bias.
ReplyDeleteSuspending belief that Felicity is a super hacker, or that Oliver can defeat armed criminals with only a bow and an arrow is not the same as getting behind romanticized behavior that makes me uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteHe's not a super quirky, nice and lovable person with a heart of gold that cares about those around him and motivates him to help the people around him? Also he's nerdy....that is the perfect way to describe BOTH Felicity and Ray.
ReplyDeleteIs she...Olivers girl though? *tickling you with a feather until you scream at me*
Smh.
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference between being socially awkward and being pushy and not respecting boundaries. I agree about MN's double I just said that in a previous comment and that actually was a criticism towards the directing and the editing of the scene it had nothing to do with BR (for once lol) maybe he is a good guy and he is trying to save the city but that doesn't mean giving him a free pass on his questionable behavior.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter what his reasoning was for the kiss - she flat-out told him she wanted to keep things professional (i'm sure it won't remain that way, but that was her decision at the time), and he felt telling his side of the story was so important that he GPS tracked her phone to find her at Verdant because it just. couldn't. wait. Damn what she wants, you know?
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying that everyone needs to find his behavior questionable, I just think it's complete bullshit to write off someone's bad opinion of the guy as shipper bias.
Commence Operation: Thunderdome!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was supposed to look awkward?? You might be right.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't perfectly well reasoned wich is why I dismissed it.
ReplyDeleteHolding characters in the same universe to different standards is a pretty hypocritical way to warrant dislike towards a character.
They are disgusting! I rolled my eyes so hard, they still hurt.
ReplyDeleteThey totally should do that only to see who ends up surviving
ReplyDeleteBesides the context of the clip, the editing really aggravated me.
ReplyDeleteYou covet death that much?

ReplyDeleteProbably just Malcolm.
ReplyDeleteWho turned on the history channel?
ReplyDeletehe'd be the only one not to starve, no one has stored that much ham
ReplyDeleteYou know Mac, you're the one that started this shipping nonsense, once you ASSUMMED that people didn't like Ray b/c of the ship And that wasn't the case.
ReplyDeleteI'm done.
even worse, my qualification exams dialogue for acting school is straight up the first act of Goethes "Werther"
ReplyDeletehttp://lemonhearted.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/George-Clooney.gif.pagespeed.ce_.uo2rU9DBW9.gif
ReplyDelete"It's what lies beneath our words that matters, it's what we don't say that counts. The truth is burried within our words"
ReplyDeleteI didn't say that it was a shipper thing. I don't think it is. What he does has nothing to do with Oliver and it's not what people are mad at.
ReplyDeleteLook, Felicity is a genius.
ReplyDeleteIt's Ray's lack of respect for personal boundaries that make me uncomfortable, such as showing up at her house outside of work hours and tracking her down at a location that is NOT work outside of work hours, especially after she specifically told him that she wanted to keep things professional between them and they should pretend like the kiss didn't happen. But no, him telling her his side of the story was more important than what she wanted.
Sorry replying to the general thread not just your response. Everyone see's him differently..I just don't get the hate towards him. What's a super hero show without a billionaire who wants to save the city.
ReplyDeleteOk seriously, Ray is no where in the same league as Bruce or Tony.

ReplyDeletehttp://cdn.chud.com/c/c2/c25063fc_tumblr_lzaryxttos1ql168k.gif
ReplyDeletealright, you won. I just decided to jump the ship-boat. Here goes.
ReplyDeleteI SHALL SHIP RAYLIVER!
Ray and Oliver should go hand in hand perfecty
It's ok I know you were commenting in general. My problem isn't with the general idea of Ray but the way he is portrayed. It makes me uncomfortable and what's even more scary is that I find his actions stalkery and pushy but the writers are treating it as charming and romantic. You know the writers said more than once that they deliberately wrote Ray as a shady character but people ignored that and justified his actions because he is supposed to be a hero.
ReplyDeleteDude, seriously, i'm trying to defend Ray without even mentioning the ships. People don't like Ray because how he was written and IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OLICITY. They think the man's a stalker... that's the problem.
ReplyDeleteMEGA FACEPALM! Again it was a bid. And you're just making it worse, by placing this god forsaken Batman movie on the thread. Smh...Everyone knows this was the worst Batman ever. Even George hated this movie.
ReplyDeleteI never called him a stalker, though. I said his behavior was problematic, and it is. Because, see...he puts his needs above her privacy. I'm not even holding anything that happened while he recruited her against him - the way he kind of harassed her into working for him, because I get recruiting and I know he wanted her brain.
ReplyDeleteBut he needs to talk to her about a co-generation project?
Haha
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha he probably did.
ReplyDeleteWhen you say was it morally wrong, it kinda was because unbeknown to her he was trying to get a sense of whether she would be a good fit with him and Diggle.
ReplyDeleteShannon, if you ever see me post a gif of THE BAT CREDIT CARD you can be 100% sure that I'm just joking around. I stopped genuinely discussing this a few minutes ago and went full nutball
ReplyDeleteWe reached common ground. I agree. He does put his "crusade" over her personal space.
ReplyDeleteHe wants her to help him build the suit so he will go to extremes to do that.
ReplyDeleteWith the way this season is going I am keeping my expectations very, very low.
ReplyDeleteIt has nothing to do with Olicity, i tell you. Actually, you know i'm mostly with you on what you say, but i think HERE you're off.
ReplyDeleteWhy people don't like him has nothing to do with that but the way he's written...
The Purge: Starling City
ReplyDeleteI'd watch that.
ReplyDeleteSo, you know, I'm not holding something against Ray that I wouldn't hold against Oliver.
Throw in the Suicide Squad and I'm in too.
ReplyDeleteI said the truth!!! Shrugs.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Please please, hold your applause til Wed. LOL I'm sure more will be discussed.
ReplyDeleteUmmm, Oliver's taken?? By Diggle, and Roy, and Quentin. LOL You can ship Ray with Brick. Lol
ReplyDelete"And went full nut ball" Yeah I see you went Gif happy.
ReplyDeleteBetween that Batman movie and Spider Man 3 i don't know wich is worst. There's a video called "101 reasons why Spider Man 3 sucked", it's hilarious they're like "33: Eric Foreman", "67: Eric Forman again", "88: Can't we just kill Eric Foreman?".
ReplyDeleteJajajaja
I love Batman&Robin it`s so beautifully terrible
ReplyDeleteRICK!
ReplyDeleteI can ship it
lol I love this site. Any Laurel related video never fails to get over 100 comments.
ReplyDeleteanyone tell me she's not an audience magnet
ReplyDeleteIf by some point the writers make Laurel, Ray and DJ Douche have a threesome, that would hit a guiness record in comments xD
ReplyDeleteI actually have to agree with that. But i kinda like Ray.
ReplyDeletePractice makes perfect lol
ReplyDeletelol this!
ReplyDeletePalmer should know money can't resolve this kind of problem......
ReplyDelete; ) Gotta go shows are on now. And boy do I have something to email you later.
ReplyDeleteLmaoooooo!!! I gotta go, shows are on now. ; )
ReplyDeleteI'll find it and share it with you later.
ReplyDeleteHaha Hahahahaha I gotta find this video. Idk what it was called, or who did it. But seriously, you'll be gasping for breath.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing it again Mac. You're devaluing someone's opinion (which I don't agree with I like Ray, but he does have creepy tendencies) and calling them shipper blind without even hearing them out.
ReplyDeleteColour me intregued!
ReplyDeleteDude just admit you like to troll. This is getting annoying. Every post you bring shipping into it (often before others do) and claim that almost anyone who dislikes a character is due to shipping. Just admit you like causing shit in the fandom and stop generalizing everything. The fights are getting annoying.
ReplyDeleteYou ask, i deliver: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVn9d87TlPU
ReplyDeleteExactly! That's why I don't hate the idea of Ray. He can teach Oliver a thing or two. But I hate the way that he's been written. You can't please everyone of course.
ReplyDeleteLaurel broke off her heel to beat the guy...YOUR FAV WOULD NEVER
ReplyDeleteDon't bring that crap here... Oh screw it. Mac what killed the Dinosaurs? The ICE AGE!!!
ReplyDeleteGod I hate that man. Only Ted Cruz and Rick Perry are worse.
ReplyDeleteThat smoke maker must have done it.
ReplyDeleteWhy would Oliver be on high heels? Is there something i don't know? :(
ReplyDeletesnap back into it dude, I don't like to troll, I like to call out hypocrisy when I see it. And I do see it in this instance. Ray is judged harsher than Oliver every was because he opposes a romantic couple...and you know what? That's fine. It's natural to react that way, however I like to point it out when I see it.
ReplyDeletereligious nutballs, seriously the tea party has nothing to offer this country but immense trouble due to their fairly clouded views on finances and foreign politics.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a hardcore liberal but let's admit it: there's no republican politician I can even mildly agree with.
Sloliver, the true romantic endgame on Arrow! (Oliver was the gal, Slade the man. They had to make time pass on the island all alone)
ReplyDeleteVikings!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, imagine all the angst on that relationship... He did kill his mother and pretty much wanted to kill him too.
ReplyDeleteBut they will make things work out loveeeee!! I'm sure they will! Nothing can stop their love! :3
I can already imagine that scene.
ReplyDeleteOliver stands in front of Slade, Olis eyeliner and makeup is completely messed up due to his constant crying.
ReplyDelete"You don't have to change for me, kiddo", a crying Slade screams to Oliver from the other side of the street."I love you.
Dude, we NEED to make this happen ASAP
ReplyDeleteIt's a total moneymaker! $_$
ReplyDeleteOliver on Smallville did go drag once
ReplyDeleteIt's a total moneymaker! $_$ I should put this on tumblr and see what happens Jajaja
ReplyDeleteThis whole scene looked fake to me. Everything about it. Everyone's acting was off too. :(
ReplyDeleteWould put it on tumblr to see what happens Jajaja
ReplyDeleteI miss Oliver/Arrow :(
ReplyDeleteIt's a really raw cut. There's no score or VFX. Those things make wonders in the final product. Without them, a scene can feel washed.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed you're right lol
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Thank God I'm Canadian and don't have Republicans.
ReplyDeleteHe's judged as creepy because he shows up at her house (which is really weird for an employer) and because he tracks her with GPS. I like Ray but that's pushing boundaries. Mac your shipper argument has no weight here.
ReplyDeleteWhat was up with the sound?
ReplyDeleteI was watching "The Daily Show" earlier and saw clips from the "Freedom Summit" (pardon me while I roll my eyes at that title) that the Republicans had here in my home state of Iowa recently.
ReplyDeleteThey still listen to and invite people like Sarah Palin (who delivered a seriously incoherent speech) and Donald Trump, and make them believe their deluded opinions on issues actually matter and hold weight.
I liked it! Felt a bit more realistic, than the usual dominance by Mr Arrow.
ReplyDeleteRay's line was precious: This is why I need a suit. ^_^
Also their social views are so very narrow-minded.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M8FC7uZj3M&feature=youtube_gdata_player
ReplyDeleteFOUND IT!!! Hopefully you can get through the whole thing. I couldn't. It was too funny. I had to stop. lol
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M8FC7uZj3M&feature=youtube_gdata_player
ReplyDeleteFOUND IT! ENJOY!
LMFAO!!!!! That literally made me LMAOOOOO
ReplyDeleteis alderman basically the same as Councillor? Why would Brick not go for the Mayor.....
ReplyDeleteThere are fanfics of that. It's weird.
ReplyDeleteSad fact is Trumps opinions do matter. He donates to the Republicans. And like all donors he therefore gets a say.
ReplyDeleteThis is true, sadly.
ReplyDeleteWell at least Bill Maher, and Jon Stewart will :). Actually there was this great twitter comment: basically when Obama won Trump all but proposed a revolution, and in response someone said to him that revolutions don't go well for people who wear wigs. Just awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis is true :). At least someone's calling him on his BS, so that's something.
ReplyDeleteLMAO at that wig comment! That's brilliant! Well put.
Alderman is a member of city council I think. As you said why not go for the Mayor or Ray Palmer. Both would create more chaos in the city.
ReplyDeleteI kinda funny that many Laurel supporters are in religious ecstasy, this will be a divisive episode alright.
ReplyDeleteI feel like all the replies to this comment just support what you say tbh.
ReplyDeleteShipping is truly such a nasty beast in this fandom.
Umm when did i say anything about Laurel. I reached my limit with Ray.
ReplyDeleteActually Felicity did call Ray a stalker.
ReplyDeletesaid
something like "you're the creepiest form of stalker that I ever had to
deal with, and believe me that's saying a lot."
Well , I saw a sneak peek with 178 comments. I directly thought it was about Laurel !! Guess i was right. This Laurel-bashing is kinda boring now. Get over it for god sake ...
ReplyDeleteWe aim to please lol
ReplyDeleteNo one was hating on Laurel actually. This time it was Ray.
ReplyDeleteI really wouldn't put it past him. He might even have planted a bug on lance himself or the mayor lol
ReplyDeleteI have to be a victim of a stalker to hate stalkers? So by this definition in order for me to hate murderers I have to get killed first? If that's the case then we shouldn't hate Malcolm.
ReplyDeleteMaybe read the comments first? The few that are about Laurel are actually positive.
ReplyDeleteJajajajajaajajajajaja When he starts "f**k you, Batman! f**k you! f**k!" at 15.50 Jajajajaja That video is amazing Jajajaja
ReplyDeleteIs this your first attempt at logic? if so, valiant effort!
ReplyDeleteBut see: murder is a much clear cut thing because of its outcome, the cessation of another's life.
Yeah, I'm meaning on how people react to what we have seen.
ReplyDeleteLaurel fans are having orgasms.
Ray haters -that don't care about Laurel- are so meh about this episode.
Cause a Ray hater that liked Laurel would at least be excited about that part of the episode.
Lol you got farther than I did. But that sounds real funny.
ReplyDeleteTru dat. Lmaooo
ReplyDeleteHard to argue with a logic like that!! You really opened my eyes and made me realize how my hatred for him clouded my judgement and made me "the only person in the universe" who thinks that he is a stalker. How will I live with the guilt? smh.
ReplyDeleteYou see, usually I don't reply to such condescending comments or engage in pointless arguments (much like this one) because I have better things to do with my time and because I come to this site to discuss my favourite shows with people who love them as much as I do, not to fight.
ReplyDeleteRight? I hate when people comment first and don't read.
ReplyDeleteUsually Olicity/Laurel related posts are mostly comprised of mac arguing against someone else :p
ReplyDeletehaha this is also true actually. If mac left this site I think the comments would be greatly reduced.
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying fandom is always so very divided in this show, and that's a bummer.
ReplyDeleteOh Koky <3
ReplyDeleteOk it looks great but why the hell is Laurel so bad? I mean she is suppose to inherit her sister, but what i'm seeing is way too untrained and way to easy to beat Laurel.
