YES!!! BLACK CANARY IS COMING!! It's about time. I've been waiting since the pilot. Hoping she gets better as the series goes on and eventually becomes the badass that she is in the comics. Can't wait! Love that line too "I'm the Justice you can't run from." So fitting!
"I am the justice you can't run from" which episode do you think this line will be in because if it is in tomorrow's episode I don't think it would make sense. I thought Laurel was still doing this for revenge for Sara, when did this become about justice for her?
When the show was pitched and they revealed Katie Cassidy(Ruby) was casted i was over the Moon. Then Season 1 and 2 happened. Now i saw her as Black Canary when seeing The Flash and just screamed! Seeing Dinah there in live action is something... For 3 seconds i forgot about Laurel and Arrow and saw Black Canary there.
So this is the promo they put up at that TCA event. The costumes extravaganza. Funny Cisco was featured in this not Diggle yet Diggle got a place in the panel.
After all only a mask and costume will make you a hero or villain.
I'am so ready for this Black Canary arc with Laurel! It's going to be epic. "I'am the justice you can't run from" Hell yeah! And we have our first look at Martin Stein! Victor Garber is going to rock in this role :)
Huh guess I forgot about that, that transition really didn't stick with me because we didn't really see her struggling with the the fact she can't get justice within the legal system anymore, hopefully we will see that in this episode. Anyway thanks for reminding me. :)
This guys is in court and he steals the evidence. So, makes sense tha she is saying he can't run from "that kind of justice", because he already did the normal one.
That is very unfair. This is why I say they only care about characters with comic book legacy. Some of the original characters are more of a hero currently on the show. Also what about Caitlin and Nyssa. Both have comic histories.
Actually Diggle is currently part of Green Arrow comics so is Felicity. I agree they don't have extensive comic book history. Doesn't make them less of heroes. What about Caitlin and Nyssa then. Atleast Nyssa already is a costumed villain on Arrow yet she is not featured.
Okay. I didn't make the rules for the panel/ promo. I don't know they obviously didn't want to feature the characters (Nyssa isn't even that big of a villain in Arrow, ). I think you're reading to much into this. It's more likely just wanted to tease the episode and pied piper.
Well, this is their problem, I didn't choose who was in the promo or the panel. I am just saying Cisco is only in the promo because he is the guy who give people their names. Diggle isn't a DC superhero, he has no reason to be there.
Okay. Can I just point out the point of the promo was to reference the heroes and villains. And since Cisco's interaction leads to the naming of the Pied Piper and every other Flash villain. That's why he's here. Diggle's not because he doesn't christen villain or hero names and doesn't wear a suit. It's not because of comic book history or preference.
Yeah, I said nickname. Specifically, the bit about Cisco being the one to give out nicknames wherein the promo proceeds to rattle them off in quick succession. How on earth could that be a non sequitur when it refers specifically to the content of the promo?
So you're saying you couldn't possibly infer, in a topic about a promo, that when I mentioned nicknames and shtick (i.e. gimmick, routine, something that's repeated) that I was referring to the content of the promo and the repeated theme across multiple promos?
This isn't about the comics. This is about the tv show. If you read the comics you would know that are in fact the comics who are becoming the show(a think i'm still not ok with). They're turning Green Arrow into Arrow: The Comic.
That said, Diggle is more of a Superheroe than Roy, Laurel and any other so called vigilante on the show. He is Oliver's right hand.
There's a reason I don't read comic books. Getting a mask and a nickname don't make you a better character for me. I'm not thrilled about acting like wearing a mask makes you super, or is a reason all my itself for me to care about you. At least The Flash has superpowers, making such a big deal of a costume change on Arrow seems silly to me.
And I am saying costume does not make a hero. When there is a promo about heroes and villains in Arrow Diggle and Felicity has to be there before Roy and Laurel.
Again not blaming you. Do I come off as putting all the blame on you? I am blaming the producers. To produce a promo with the concept of heroes and villains and avoid the characters who fight crime for past 2 years yet include characters that has not even debuted on the shows is bad. Why even create original characters if you wont consider them heroes.
It's symbolic of them changing and either embracing a better path and way or going batshit crazy/ evil. (Plus it's cool). Screw it. You'll never get it (your view of comics as silly kinda prevents it) so keep hating. I'm sorry but why do you watch these shows?
Nope , The costume symbolically marks a new and better era for Laurels character , thats why people like it. If Laurel morphs into Dinah from the comics she will become a better character thats whats so interesting about seeing her like this, l hope they don't screw it up. Oliver without his mask in season 1 was a whole other person , when he came back and became Arrow he was a changed man. lm sure the same will be true for Laurel , their storylines run pretty parallel to each other e.g. Robert dying motivated Oliver and Sara did the same for Laurel.
Woah I never said the putting on a mask and costume and taking a code name would immediately and fundamentally alter the character. But it symbolizes the choice of a person not just morally, but also to change, as well as that change. Roy is very different now, he's a lot more tactful, less angry, a team player, values his own life now, has found his place in the world. Becoming Arsenal and joining Oliver's crusade, demonstrated that growth and change and that's he was ready to become a hero. Just like how becoming a Captain Cold was the pivotal moment when Snart stopped being a criminal who stole for profit and became a villain who does what he does because he likes the challenge of the Flash. Or when Barry became the Flash, and has now become confident, and is no longer that scared little kid or a CSI but a man with a purpose to do good symbolize by his putting on the sui and saving Joe. Laurel becoming Black Canary is the same thing, a step towards change and using that anger to become a better, stronger person through putting on that costume and being Black Canary. The promos are portraying her differently as she is. Laurel has that purpose. She's not Laurel, she's Black Canary in that outfit. A person dedicated to bringing justice to Starling a City, and through this change will herself change. I asked that question because I honestly want to know why someone who doesn't like comics and finds the things in them silly, or doesn't nerd out would watch a show about superheroes. Btw, at least pick up one before you just say things are silly in them.
BTW try to make assumptions about things you don't know.
I SAID all those things. Not you. And they did do it with Laurel this episode. She put on leather and grabbed a few gadgets and all of a sudden she is spouting stupid egotistical lines and kicking butt. So nope. I'm not wrong. They expect that we will just accept that she is a different person. With no character growth and no motivations leading up to it. I had hoped that they were going to do something which made her loose faith in the justice system with the lost evidence, but nope. So Sara's mask and wig=Laurel is now Sara. Wham bam thank you ma'am.
Wow. That still proves nothing. she fought crime. Did you forgot the part where she tried to beat the girlfriend beater. Beat the guy in the hospital, or trained with Ted so she could fight crime. Or all of her dialogue with her mom? All that anger and rage? You're reaching at best. Still haven't answered my question. Thanks for spoiling it btw. I just stared the episode.
I'd say sorry. But what are you even doing on SpoilerTV right now if you haven't seen the episode? Comments on the episode are regularly appearing in the right hand column. Come back and see where you stand after you ACTUALLY see what putting the on costume changes for Laurel from getting her butt handed to her by the girlfriend beater to now new and improved with buckles.
I'm acknowledging Roy is different (Laurel is still changing but again on the path to being a hero). My entire argument is that the costume represents them growing and changing and embracing being heroes and I even pointed out how Roy has become different since he became Arsenal (and started bonding with Oliver, Felicity and Diggle and being on the team.) Roy was never comic relief. I don't get why you watch Arrow. Will you just answer the question.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Meh. I think the promo department is overdoing it with the nickname shtick.
ReplyDeleteLAUREL OMG

ReplyDeleteGO DINAH GO DINAH GO! :D
ReplyDeleteIKR! I've been waiting too, this give to me nerdy heart a reason to smile! :D

ReplyDeleteShe stated in Guilty that she was doing it for Sara and get justice outside the court room
ReplyDeleteLaurel fans everywhere: Started from the bottom NOW WE HERE!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen the show was pitched and they revealed Katie Cassidy(Ruby) was casted i was over the Moon. Then Season 1 and 2 happened. Now i saw her as Black Canary when seeing The Flash and just screamed! Seeing Dinah there in live action is something... For 3 seconds i forgot about Laurel and Arrow and saw Black Canary there.
ReplyDeleteVICTOR GARBER! I SEE VICTOR GARBER!
ReplyDeleteHoly Laurel that was awesome
ReplyDeleteI want to see Victor.

ReplyDeleteIt's time to be excited again. ;)
ReplyDeletehopefully Laurel get a voice filter because someone who know her will deduce she not Sara
ReplyDeleteThey are obviously talking about DC characters. Cisco isn't who he should be yet and Diggle isn't a DC hero. So...
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for two years and she is finally here. HELLO, PRETTY BIRD!
ReplyDeletewhoa no one;s called her Dinah without saying her full name weird LOL
ReplyDeletei KNEW it was him it was just too fast LOL
ReplyDeleteMarc(show writer) sayed she will
ReplyDeleteLaurel! Cool.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair Cisco will most likely become Vibe, and Diggle isn't a superhero.
ReplyDeleteWell they are superhero shows so...
ReplyDeleteWonder if it will be her "you have failed this city."
ReplyDeleteThat is very unfair. This is why I say they only care about characters with comic book legacy. Some of the original characters are more of a hero currently on the show. Also what about Caitlin and Nyssa. Both have comic histories.
ReplyDeleteActually Diggle is currently part of Green Arrow comics so is Felicity. I agree they don't have extensive comic book history. Doesn't make them less of heroes. What about Caitlin and Nyssa then. Atleast Nyssa already is a costumed villain on Arrow yet she is not featured.
ReplyDeleteThat really doesn't have anything to do with their choice to use the same bit with the same clip over and over again.
ReplyDeleteOkay. I didn't make the rules for the panel/ promo. I don't know they obviously didn't want to feature the characters (Nyssa isn't even that big of a villain in Arrow, ). I think you're reading to much into this. It's more likely just wanted to tease the episode and pied piper.
ReplyDeleteAnd did I blame you? I blame the producers and this is my opinion.
ReplyDeleteWell, this is their problem, I didn't choose who was in the promo or the panel. I am just saying Cisco is only in the promo because he is the guy who give people their names. Diggle isn't a DC superhero, he has no reason to be there.

ReplyDeleteYou referred to nicknames. Then started talking about re-using footage. Those are too different topics.
ReplyDeleteThey're reusing footage of Cisco talking about nicknames. And that's exactly what I referred to. It's one and the same.
ReplyDeleteYou're first post only referred to nicknames and the tendency directly. So I only inferred you were referring to use of code names and such.
ReplyDeleteSo you're saying you couldn't possibly infer, in a topic about a promo, that when I mentioned nicknames and shtick (i.e. gimmick, routine, something that's repeated) that I was referring to the content of the promo and the repeated theme across multiple promos?
ReplyDeletewould it bother you?
ReplyDeleteCisco was there only for the quote, that's all... Diggle got a place in the panel because he is using The Arrow's costume.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't about the comics. This is about the tv show. If you read the comics you would know that are in fact the comics who are becoming the show(a think i'm still not ok with). They're turning Green Arrow into Arrow: The Comic.

ReplyDeleteAs I said before, because I want to.
ReplyDeleteWhy do watch this show?
ReplyDeleteI first saw that Black Canary scene in a gifset that was about the character she played in Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteAnd my first reaction was, “Wow, her ass looks great!” :D
Ruby turning into someone who is all “I’m the justice you can’t run from” is a pretty cool idea for an alternative universe story.
