ABC added four more drama pilots, medical advocate drama The Advocate, from Sheldon Turner; Boom, the story of a modern energy boom in North Dakota, from producer Tony Krantz; The Adversaries, a legal soap from ER veteran David Zabel; and Kingmakers, a murder mystery from Revenge producer Sallie Patrick.
The Advocate, from Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein’s Vendetta Prods. and Warner Bros. TV, had a put pilot commitment. Written by Turner, the project was inspired by the real story of the Oscar-nominated writer’s former agent, Byrdie Lifson-Pompan. Lifson-Pompan was a top CAA literary agent whose roster included such heavyweights as Brett Ratner, Paul Haggis, Jim Sheridan and Jason Katims. She was misdiagnosed and her brain tumor went undetected until discovered by another doctor. She underwent surgery and fully recovered. Several years later, Lifson-Pompan, who also had other family members suffer from medical misdiagnoses, made a career change, leaving agenting after 22 years to pursue a career as a medical advocate. She teamed with Dr. Valerie Ulene, a medical doctor and a health education specialist, to launch Clear Health Advisors, a healthcare consulting and case management company that helps patients navigate the healthcare system, including getting an accurate diagnosis and finding the right treatment.
Written by Josh Pate and Rodes Fishburne, Boom, produced by ABC Studios, examines the biggest oil discovery in American history (bigger than Texas and as big as Saudi Arabia) which has triggered a geopolitical shift and an economic boom in North Dakota on a scale not seen since the American 1849 Gold Rush. This series tracks the epic pilgrimage of a young, ambitious couple to the oil fields of the Bakken seeking their fortune and a better life — it’s a classic tale with modern twists. As we follow their trials and tribulations in a modern day “Wild West”, they negotiate a colorful ensemble of roughnecks, grifters, oil barons, criminals, and fellow prospectors against a stark and beautiful backdrop.
Written and Executive Produced by David Zabel, The Adversaries, from ABC Studios, centers on the patriarch of a New York legal dynasty who becomes embroiled in a trial of his own, and his federal prosecutor daughter must decide which side she will fight on.
Written and executive produced by Sallie Patrick, Kingmakers, also from ABC Studios, centers on a young man whose sister is found dead during her freshman year at an elite Ivy League university. He adopts a new identity to infiltrate the school and its century-old secret society – consisting of privileged students, ambitious faculty, and high-profile alums – in order to investigate her death.

I will wait to see casting and trialers BUT no network IMO has put out anything interesting. Hopefully it gets better cuz this pilot season is off to a rocky start
ReplyDeletenothing sounds good enough, maybe after they pick and show some trailers we can get something more out of this
ReplyDeleteI really like the premise of Boom, but the title needs to go ASAP
ReplyDeleteKingmakers=Revenge 2.0
ReplyDeleteEverything sucks it literally sucks why is this upcoming TV season seeming so repeated
ReplyDeleteKingmakers sounds good.
ReplyDeleteKingmakers sounds potentially good. Still, the trend this season continues to be boring projects it seems.
ReplyDeleteKingmakers intrigues me. Wonder if they will order to pilot Marc Cherrys Phantom of the Opera?
ReplyDeleteNone of these sound even remotely interesting to me.
ReplyDeleteit really does. but it's interesting nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteOnly Kingsmaker sounds very good.
ReplyDeleteMeh, these don't sound very interesting. Let's see if casting can change my mind.
ReplyDeleteKingmakers sounds good and sallie patrick is a writer on revenge so i Would like it. All other sound terrible
ReplyDeleteWell sallie patrick is a writer on revenge as well
ReplyDeleteIt actually sounds like a mix of Revenge and Gossip Girl; I wonder what they would do with it, I must say
ReplyDeleteWell, since these are two of my favorite shows - I'd love to find our!
ReplyDeletewhoa i thought you were exaggerating, but you are completely right
ReplyDeleteagreed. Forever was placed in bad timeslot for new shows. Also, ABC should give a chance ti it other shows like galavant, Agent Carter and hell, why not revenge if they picked a pilot that just screams"revenge" at it? . Uhg, these pilos didn't make me watch any of them u.u
ReplyDeleteargh, terrible.. The only one that sounds a little bit interesting is kingmakers and it's nothing knew coz it just sounds like revenge (they should give this show a new chance if it to bring a new one with the same idea ¬¬).
ReplyDeleteThe Advocate would probably be an adequate made-for-tv movie, but as a full series? No thanks.
ReplyDeleteI really think the broadcast networks should really get down and dirty to find new concepts and ideas from aspiring writers instead of going with the flow and whatever the big studios and big names are trying to hype.
ReplyDeleteKingmakers reminds me of Deception (that aired on NBC years ago), Revenge and Gossip Girl. I'd try it out, but it doesn't seem very promising.
