In my opinion, it has gotten better. Episode after episode. It reminded me of Boardwalk Empire after To The Lost (2x12: I won't spoil another series but the fans know what I'm talking about). The show has found rhyhtm and action in a very soft way: slowly, slowly. Introducing new characters, avoiding to turn Quinn into a copy of Nicholas Brody (thank, God), putting the relationship between Carrie and Saul at the centre of the story and building up a gripping storyline. Full of tension and incredible performances: Mandy and Claire are basically kicking ass. I'm lucky that I hadn't seen an episode of 24 before. I know they are comparing the shows quite a lot lately. It's all fresh and new to me. I always liked The Americans more than Homeland since its pilot, but this new version of the show is tv at its best.
when I think about it season 4 has been so much better than last season looking back at season 2 and 3 in retrospective I feel like they spent too long talking about the fallout behind brody actions when they actually didn't need to
The first half of the season had some ups and downs, IMO there were some unnecessary stories that probably didn't need that much screentime. That being said, I think things got a lot more interesting from episode 6. The last two episodes that aired are a MUST watch, and I can't wait for the final ones.
So many people complain about "unrealistic" things in Homeland then I open up drudgereport or any news site and read crazier things. THIS JUST IN... crazy stuff happens every day - BELIEVE IT. Homeland is still 95% more realistic than everything on TV.
I have enjoyed this new season, from the first episode,. I never missed brody, the show is great without him, and I am glad the writers moved on from the story line
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

I think it has got much better this year, the best season since season 1 IMO.
ReplyDeleteLooks like I need to catch up. :-)
ReplyDeleteI asked this poll question to know if I really needed to catch up or not, and it seems that it is time to see al those stocked up episodes :)
ReplyDeleteThe show is very good, but the last scene "underground" in the last episode seemed a bit contrived and far-fetched for Homeland.

ReplyDeleteThis has been the best season since season 1. But the next season should be the final season so it can go out with a bang (no pun intended).

ReplyDeleteI agree! I was merely talking about aesthetics.
