Updated January 14th: It’s not Scandal. Or any ABC series for that matter. It’s also not Jess on New Girl.
Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that an established program that is covered voraciously on this very site is planning to impregnate its leading lady (the character, not the actress!) early in the new year — and it’s safe to say no one will see the baby twist coming.
The pregnancy — the timing of which defies almost every television convention — has the potential to dramatically alter the DNA of the series. (And this is not a show on its last legs; this baby, and the subsequent implications, will likely be around round for a good while). It also comes as the relationship between the mother and father is hardly on solid ground.
Fans of the couple will likely have a mixed reaction, with some complaining its way too soon for such a development, and others cheering the inevitable next step — marriage.
Bonus clues: The series in question airs on one of the Big 5 broadcast networks (i.e. not cable), and it has been around for longer than two but less than six seasons.

ReplyDeleteLast week I read that Wade gives in to Zoe's advances and that most likely leads to a baby. Plus the actors, producers and the CW have pretty much said this is the last season. The article on TVLINE also alluded to the fact that the character is pregnant, not the actress. This pregnancy sounds like something kept under wraps until it airs to surprise viewers, HOD wouldn't fit that.

ReplyDeleteIt just seems like one more really really cruel thing to have been done to Regina in the past. I mean, we start out with this young, brave, innocent girl who then has the following happen to her:
- Mentally abused by her mother
- Mother killing the love of her life
- Forced to marry an old king who is still in love with his late wife
- Tormented for, what 10 years, by Rumple who needed her to go dark to cast the dark curse
Adding to that - someone stealing her child - just seems too cruel - even for OUaT ...

It's in its fourth season, so it fits the more than 2/less than 6 season criteria; Scandal's one of the biggest dramas on broadcast, so it's not on its last legs; Fitz and Olivia stay on unsteady ground; the "too soon" cries would come from the pregnancy happening while he was still married; and a baby would have a great impact on this type of show. I hope Shonda doesn't do it, especially since it would be ludicrous for Olivia to be pregnant the season after Kerry herself was pregnant, but it completely fits the blind.
ReplyDeleteYou know with everything that is going on with OQ and with what will probably happen in Winter Finale, I really don't want Regina to be pregnant even right now and especially no in the past but I think that the spoilers suggest that. That would be heartbreaking but I'm not sure they realize just how hurtful it could be-just like with Regina's marriage to Leopold. It was horrible to begin with but tury added ghat h was involved with her mother and Eden then not young and noone really adressed that...

They also fit the criteria...they havent slept together, but there are pics from the new episodes, where they walk on the beach together on a date, also she is said to cannot have babies (which will be surprise she actually can) and the show is 4th season...
ReplyDeleteWe'll see. If we're right that it is Regina. I'd prefer the storyline taking place in the present, though. Regina can handle that. Because she knows Robin loves her - no matter what happens on Sunday where I'm still certain they'll be parted for at time. She's becoming a part of the Charming family anyway. And if she's pregnant, her light magic will probably grow stronger, too. I'm not worried :-)

ReplyDeleteWilson Bethel has signed on as a series regular to a new show. When they filmed all these episodes Bilson was pregnant. I never said they officially announced it but it is a pretty safe bet. I hope it does make it to season 5 but in relation to this blind item, the article said this show isn't going anywhere, and HOD does not fall in that category, it is very much in danger of cancellation.

They say the relationship between the mother and father isn't on solid ground indicating that it could be Fitz which I really don't want as Olivia's life doesn't need to be as complicated as it already is but Jake being the father would alter the DNA of the series as its unexpected to the actual series itself and due to both their troubled childhoods, it could push them into making their relationship OFFICIAL and solid for the sake of their child.

ReplyDeleteI don't think the theory was based on Leopold, but rather that Regina and Robin actually did meet at the tavern - only someone - Rumple or Cora interfered. Still, I don't really think that's what's going to play out. Having yet another grown up child appear - like Emma - just doesn't seem the way to go. I like Regina and Robin together, but that's really beside the point in these theories. Not about likes but likelihoods :-)

ReplyDeleteIt can't be Arrow, they already have Diggle's baby and Oliver's kid.. no need for more.. and The Following is a show on its last legs imo so it doesn't fit either. I think it's either Chicago Fire or Mindy, and I don't want neither, so I don't really care.

ReplyDeleteCan I ask why? I know I'm not Laurel's biggest fan but in that case I truly believe that she deserves better. Oliver was horrible to her before and after the island, especially the whole Sara thing which still makes me cringe.

- NCIS: LA -> Don't watch this, so i don't know
- Person of Interest -> Don't watch this, so i don't know
CW:
Arrow -> I doubt this will happen.
Fox:
- The Following -> But who? and also it is in danger of being cancelled
- The Mindy Project -> Don't think so...
NBC:
- Chicago Fire
- Grimm
- Hannibal -> see Elementary etc
So i believe it will be Chicago Fire or Grimm!
NCIS: LA doesn't meet the criteria, because the show "has been around for longer than two but less than six seasons." NCIS: LA is currently in its sixth season.

ReplyDeleteI hate that there's a possibility that that's for Arrow, because another freaking baby is the last thing we need on that show. Even though I would love to see some people there having sex (I'm not even ashamed), I think there's way to many children on that show. So please let's not jump this shark, please.

ReplyDeleteThere's no way it's Arrow. The only established couple on the show right now is Dyla and they already have a baby. It can't be Olicity or Lauriver cause that would be a little difficult since Oliver isn't around lol
