It’s now officially less than a month to go until Season 2 hits your screens, the long wait is nearly over, so what can you expect? As you know I cannot reveal too much about the episode itself, the storyline is under wraps for now, but I can immediately answer one question that I know is on everyone’s lips. Murray Gold’s theme tune is here to stay – ohh-yeh!!
I’m sure that will please a lot of fans as it’s a popular piece of music and has pretty much become the shows emblem over the first season. That being said, I am very impressed with Paul Englishby’s score throughout the rest of the show. The different character themes are striking, and are particularly effective during the Musketeer scenes as it gives them a real sweeping, cinematic feel. As for the episode, I think it was a given that I would enjoy it from pieces of information we had gathered already in the filming thread. The tone is certainly more adult - the fights are more intense, the deaths more realistic, there is a tad more skin on display than before, and there is a satisfying, multi-layered plot to keep you on your toes. Yet there isn’t a noticeable change in the characters, or humour, that makes this jar against what has come before it.
The comradery between the main four is as strong as ever, with Captain Treville never wavering in the protection of his men. I can see Louis gaining more supporters than ever before the end of this season. He may be an unpopular and weak King, but his antics will no doubt make him a firm fan favourite. I fear Anne will be sorely tried by her husband, but I look forward to relationship with Constance and Marguerite. The three of them are intelligent and know what they want out of life so it should mix up the status quo at court. Milady is a bit of a dark horse – isn’t she ever – but she is unquestionably one to keep an eye on this year!
There have been some comments here from fans who have been looking forward to seeing the Musketeers face a foe who is more of a threat to them, someone that they interact with more than they did with the Cardinal. Therefore I’m sure you’ll be pleased to hear Howard Charles say that Rochefort is “a worthy adversary, and that gives us a chance to be more heroic.” Marc Warren says that he was drawn to the role as it is very different to the comedy he has been doing recently. It sounds like he’s had fun playing the villain too, as he lists the various evil deeds his character gets up to this season. Look out for my in-depth episode previews which will start just after Christmas Day. Until then, here is a hangman teaser to keep you going. kynikey has correctly guessed the first line so I have filled that in, and has also made a good start on the second. Scoobie has correctly guessed the rest of the hangman! B won the first poll and has been added. M won the second poll and has been added. U won the third poll and has been added. L won the fourth poll and has been added. C won the fifth poll and has been added. F won the sixth poll and has been added. G won the seventh poll and has been added. D won the eighth poll and has been added. H and V won the ninth poll and have been added. There are a variety of different stunts coming up this season, and of course the majority are done by the cast themselves. The opening episode sees Luca being especially dare-devilish on more than one occasion. When I sat down and chatted to the guys last Wednesday it became obvious that they have the utmost respect and trust in the team they work with. They know that they are in safe hands at all time, which enables them to throw themselves into the action and not be in any danger. There is a wide range of stunts in the first episode, the fights and shoot outs of course, horse riding - which Marc Warren admits was a challenge due to his fear of the animal - the zipwire across a gorge that has been revealed in the Radio Times and one which Luke was told about when Colin emailed him asking "How do you feel underwater?" 1. Great article Sandi. What a way to kick things off! Great news about the theme music. I have such a soft spot for it. You got the balance absolutely right here between giving us enough info to reassure and excite, without spoiling us for our post Christmas feast. Many thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Nice, Sandi! Our fearless leader as always. So glad you were rewarded with a preview treat!

So glad to hear about the theme. Would have missed it.

I am now very concerned about poor Anne. As if I wasn't before! Haha

Was marguerite in the first episode? Looking forward to meeting her.

I wonder who is showing all this skin....

  3. Sandi, I can't wait to see this show back as you know! :)

Thanks again for your preview! You know I'll be checking your previews all the time!!! :)

Question: Any memorable D'Artagnan/Constance scenes in the premiere? I bet you knew I'd ask. It's been a LONG hiatus, and I've missed the show and Constagnan, of course. :) Any hints would be appreciated!

    Thanks! :)

  4. Thanks for the early preview Sandi.. :)

Glad to hear that Murray's theme music is staying and that the new music is more sweeping than before.

It's also good to hear that the tone has shifted slightly - to better suit the 9pm slot - but not so much that it's jarring, which was a worry for quite a few fans, including our friend over at Geek Syndicate. If the humour remains - especially between Aramis and Porthos - that's great.

I'm going to be curious about the Anne / Constance / Margerite relationships and whether Margerite will eventually turn on Louis and Anne for whatever reason, enabling Constance to become Anne's most trusted friend.

Good things are being said about Marc Warren as the villian, which is great news. I really don't think the show will miss Peter Capaldi, as interesting as the Cardinal's manipulation of Louis was.

Obviously we all have a number of questions that you'll never be able to answer before the episode actually airs - the name of baby Aramis ( if we get one ), how Milady has sneaked back into Paris, whether Constance is already working for Anne at the start of the episode, whether Rochefort and D'Artagnan in particular take a real dislike to each other and of course whether there's a sense that D'Artagnan and Constance are going to be moving forward, instead of retreading old ground.

  5. You're welcome Scoobie :) There was an obvious rapport & respect between the guys and Marc, I think they have enjoyed the dynamics of working together. What I saw in episode 1 worked very well, I'm looking forward to seeing what he gets up to the rest of the season to try and thwart their plans.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yes, I think most fans would have missed the theme tune, it's become iconic already really. I love the jauntiness of it, lol.

I am really sorry, but at the moment I just can't say too much about the episode or people that are in it. This is why I did the sad faces on Tuesday night, after a summer of speculating freely with you guys I have to suddenly clam up over things which does makes me feel bad :( BUT, I can say that there is stuff coming tomorrow night that you will all be able to pore over in detail!!

I can say that more than one person shows off a bit of flesh though...

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hey there Juliet, you're welcome as always. As I've said to Sunny above, at this point I really can't say much about the contents of the episode yet, I'm sworn to secrecy I'm afraid. Once the promotional stuff is out, and we are closer to TX, I will do my usual episode preview and that will go in to more detail and I will be able to tease more specifically on things.

From a speculation stand point, we know from what Adrian has said in interviews that Constance will be exploring the realities of what it would mean if she were to leave her husband for d'Artagnan this season. So we can expect that to be explored this year. I also can't imagine them not staying true to the OTP of the couple, albeit with obstacles as that is where the drama comes in. They are fairly popular part of the storyline so it would make sense to keep true to that imo.

    ReplyDelete
  8. In many ways I wish I could answer those questions, but I think you will get a lot to be going on with tomorrow night as some parts will be able to be speculated over. To be truthful though, I honestly do think that some parts will be best unspoilt. No matter what part of the show you are the biggest fan of - Constagnan, Aramis, Porthos, Louis, etc - there will something that makes you very happy when you see it happen in the story.

I am kind of hoping that some of these parts are held back and not used in the publicity material beforehand, one small bit made me grin like a loon as I wasn't expecting it. I was over the moon at it's inclusion, and I'd love that other fans got the same experience. I can see why they would want to showcase some of it beforehand though, people need to be persuaded to tune in first, lol.

As for your last question, I think that new viewers should be ok. Like last season, the exposition is written, and shot/performed, so well that you barely even notice that you are being fed huge chunks of it at a time when it comes. Obviously with such a large cast it does take a while to get everyone introduced, but I don't think they should have too many questions along the way. It progresses quite naturally, without jumping a great deal so you miss who did what.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Thanks for the reply Sandi..
In terms of not wanting to say too much, I think you got the balance about right last series, you'd let us know that important Constagan stuff was coming up but you didn't say "Bonacieux discovers the pair of them kissing in the street" which was good because that moment was a genuine surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Cheers Tigercheetah! With drama you have to expect the good and the bad, it's sometimes a difficult job to then balance up the teasers, lol

    ReplyDelete
  11. Thank you for the reply, my friend. :)

I haven't read the new Adrian interview with that info. Where can I find it? Looks like I'm behind on the promotional Musketeers stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It was in this one I believe - http://www.spoilertv.com/2014/06/the-musketeers-geek-syndicate-interview.html

  13. Thank you very much, Sandi! You're always so considerate!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Great preview thank you Sandi! And now that we here in the states will get to see season 2 starting Jan. 17th I can actually join in the fun here. (just a few weeks behind on episodes). :) Yea!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Cheers Bec. Yes it's great news that you won't be too far behind now!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ok, I'm gonna give part of the first sentence a try, though most of it is complete guesswork and probably totally wrong:

    There/are/a/variety/of/different/**u***/coming/up/this/season,/but/of/course/the/m*******/***/****/by/the/cast/themselves.

    Any of it right?!

    ReplyDelete
  17. That's pretty good going, almost perfect so far! Well done :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ok, one more try:

There are a variuety of different stunts coming up this season, and of course the majority are done by the cast themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The first line is correct! I'll fill that in and update with a new letter :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thanks for the review! Just one question, are there any Athos/Milady scenes on the S2 premiere? their love/hate relationship is unhealthy and yet so intriguing and fascinating, the 2 actors have a great chemistry imo.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow, kynikey. Brilliant!

    ReplyDelete
  22. What can I say? I'm motivated when I want to know something...lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. You're welcome Siahana. Unfortunately I can't really answer any questions about the content of the episode as yet. Once we get closer to TX I will do a preview for the episode itself and will tease a few more things in comments.

I loved their relationship in S1, I agree that is fascinating and the actors have wonderful chemistry. We have had a few ideas over in the speculation thread as to how and why she may be back in Paris, and what their relationship might be like.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Darn, I'm an idiot, I didn't paste the second line in correctly earlier and missed the G's out, sorry! I should have had more coffee before editing it, lol. They are there now *red face*

Yes, that last bit is also correct now too!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thank you for taking the time to answer me. I guess I'll have to wait patiently then ;)

I also loved them in S1, it's a poisonous relationship but their love is so deep and tragic... and yeah their undeniable chemistry... maybe I have a thing for doomed relationship lol.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The next couple of weeks will hopefully fly by, and then the second season will be upon us. I'm actually surprised that we have had as much information come out this last week as we have, I was expecting it to be more of a slow trickle rather than the info dump it suddenly became on Friday, lol.

I guess the next thing will be a trailer in a week or two :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Are you sure there's not one letter too much in this word: d***-d*v**l**h, cause I'd guess dare-devilish, but there's one letter too much for it. No idea about the beginning, but the rest could be "with Luca being especially dare-devilish on more than one occasion".

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ahh yes, I did have too many stars in that one, apologises. I have amended it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. So second sentence: "The opening episode sees Luca being ****c**ll* (I was going to say heroically but not enough dots) dare-devilish" I'm then stuck. Kynikey!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Correct! I've filled in the hangman and added the last teaser paragraph to the preview :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yay! Incredible work from kynikey. Just some lucky guesses from me at the end.

    ReplyDelete
  32. TV Times has given episode one 5 stars out of 5, saying much the same thing as the Radio Times did, especially the trip-wire sequence. D'artagnan is apparently "pinning" over Constance and Aramis has Queen Anne and the baby on his mind.

    ReplyDelete
  33. "Pinning" aww bless him. I really feel sorry for Aramis.

    ReplyDelete
  34. OK, seriously BBC. We're now less than three weeks out. Where the Hell is the trailer?!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Super spoilery but brilliant interview with some delicious info to get you speculating. http://www.primolife.com.au/lifestyle/entertainment/all-for-one

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm surprised the actors were allowed to reveal such big spoilers, unless actually they weren't allowed but have done so anyway. OK, stuff like Constagnan getting back together is pretty obvious but the spoilers regarding King Louis and certainly the one regarding Captain Treville weren't and should really have been kept under wraps. It doesn't bother ME too much because I'm choosing to be spoiled to a degree :) but I bet some people weren't prepared for these.

There's certainly a lot of spoilers going round in the run up to S2, I just hope that ones from the final remain firmly hidden. I don't want to know in advance what happens to Aramis's child for example - ie, is he the future King Louis?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I was also really surprised by the amount of key detail contained in the article. It's actually made me very excited about what's to come but as I say, it really is super spoilery and really shouldn't be read if you want to be surprised by events.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think casual viewers - who make up 90% of the show's audience - are the ones who will get to enjoy the new series completely spoiler free and the producers will know that. It's just the fans - who can't forget about the show between one series and the next - who will always have a hard time staying completely spoiler free, it's the nature of fandom. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. As you say, if you're a fan and accessing these sites, spoilers are hard to avoid and indeed you may want to be seriously spoiled :) but in some cases it's the extent of the info, that you may want be careful about. For some fans, they may be happy to receive general spoilers but don't want too many detailed specifics, so probably best to be aware of the level of spoilers on offer and exercise caution if you're unsure.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I watched episode 2 earlier today, it's a cracker! I'd say it is fairly d'Artagnan & Louis centric, as we'd kind of already guessed, both actors have put their all into it and Luca, once again, is very heroic at one point.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hi Sandi!

I've been following the Musketeers discussion board ever since it first started, but this is my first comment. I was actually wondering what you thought of Marguerite, without giving too much away, of course. I'm really curious about her character, especially after reading her bio on the BBC website. My favorite character on the series, after the musketeers themselves, is Queen Anne, so I'm also curious about her character development this season. If you can't reveal anything, that's fine, I just thought I'd ask anyway. You're so lucky you get to see the episodes before they air. I'm glad the huge wait is over, though. The premiere is less than 3 weeks away :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi psychee, welcome to the site! Lucky in some ways to see the episodes early, but it's also hard in others as there's no-one to discuss them with, and I am no longer able to freely join in with the speculation side of things which I enjoy. I'm sitting on quite a few shows for next year at present, most of which I'd love to be able to chat about :( lol.

Hmm, I can't say too much obviously, but I think she's good in the role from what I've seen. It's not a huge part, well at the moment anyway, though I guess that it could develop and have more screen time in later episodes perhaps. As in S1, the focus definitely more on the Musketeers themselves and their adventures. The rest of the cast is generally seen through their interaction with them or the villain, Rochefort in this case.

I like Anne a lot too, though I have to admit that my real affection is with Ryan Gage as Louis. He makes the weak and pathetic king so likeable through his perfect comic timing, and the camera just seems to love him. How Anne puts up with him I have no idea, I imagine having grown up with him since they were children has made her fond of him in many ways. Being a Spanish princess in a French court with the political climate as it was at the time must have been quite isolating too. Though that was something that the Cardinal made sure of in the novels, I wonder if it will become a case in the show too now he is dead.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Pleased to hear that episode 2 is a good one and that Ryan and Luca shine once again. Louis is probably my favourite character after D'Artagnan, so to have plenty of them both in one episode should make it an enjoyable one for me.

I'm curious about whether you think the producers are intentionally developing a form of trust between the King and D'Artagnan - like with Aramis and Anne - but you probably can't answer that at this stage.. I certainly don't expect them to become buddies - Louis is the King of France and D'Artagnan is a lowly Musketeer - but could their relationship slowly be developing into the kind of one that Louis has with Captain Treville?

Adrian also seems to be making D'artagnan a bit more 'action driven' in S2

As Scobbie has said, you're going to have seen episode 10 before the BBC get round to releasing the trailer, lol...

    ReplyDelete
  44. I can't wait to see the trailer tomorrow, I assume it will be a season one rather than a first episode one, so there should be lots to see in it :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yah, finally.... :)
I'm sure they'll be plenty of screen-shots circling the web a few minutes / hours later..

    ReplyDelete
  46. Lol yes, gifs a plenty no doubt!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think Luke is relishing the action driven d'Artagnan role, being a bit of a daredevil and the swashbuckling hero suits the character too. All the guys seem to have stepped up this year though to be fair, I think they know what to expect now. Their fitness levels are up and they've had a year on the job training now, so are able to push themselves that bit further so to speak.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Haha, they've actually released it early. I'll have it up in a minute :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Stephen J. Sheridan16 December 2014 at 17:08

so did they replace Capaldi then? haven't been following or watching this series at all. I just know that Capaldi was a complete surprise when he was announced as the Doctor due to his work on this series....

    ReplyDelete
  50. He hasn't been replaced as such, instead the Cardinal has died earlier than history or the novels dictate and a new foe has been brought in. Marc Warren has been cast as Rochefort, and will play a villain who is similar to the one in the books.

    ReplyDelete
  51. At this rate, you will be seeing the whole series before we see episode 1. Good for you!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Wow, it doesn't look quite the same, does it?? Is this an episode one trailer, Sandi??

Love the emphasis on Louis. Like the black outfit! And his look of glee for the baby.

Love d'Artagnan's reaction to Milady. Shrugs it off, what else is new? LOL.

Is that Aramis and Anne in bed??

Wow, her giving birth hair is huge.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Nope, it covers more than the first episode, which is why I thought it was best put in here as they are calling it a season launch trailer. I've now added the screen shot breakdown too.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It does look super charged doesn't it. I don't think that is Aramis and Anne getting naughty. Let's just say, I'm doing a bit of a happy dance right now! :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. http://www.spoilertv.co.uk/images/archived-old-shows/The%20Musketeers/Season%202/Trailer%20Screen%20shots/Launch%20Trailer/47.jpg.php

    ReplyDelete
  56. Lol, well, that's a spoiler.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wish there was a bit more Rochefort.

    Constance looks ashamed or embarrassed.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ohhhh yeah!!! :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. The new promo! WOW! Constance looks so beautiful! And am I seeing it with shipper glasses or is that D'Artagnan and Constance in bed together? I'm sure that's him due to his longer hair and no beard in that second screen cap. And it looks like it could be Constance due to the curls in her hair. Thoughts? Is that them? Or wishful thinking on my part???

    ReplyDelete
  60. I missed this post! WOW! That is D'Artagnan and Constance in bed together!!!! YES!!! We'll finally get a REAL LOVE SCENE for them!!!! YES!

    ReplyDelete
  61. It is a bit, but without the full context it can be easy to jump to any conclusion when you just have a brief image.

    ReplyDelete
  62. LOL, yes. I'm withholding all thoughts until viewing. Ha.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm doing a happy dance, too! Love D'Artagnan and Constance together so much!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I always listen to the one who views episodes before I do! :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. I thought the same thing. Sure looks like D'Artagnan and Constance!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yeah some more of Rochefort would have been nice, but I think they've done well in teasing with the material they have so far without spoiling too much. This is the trailer that will be going out in TV after all, so it has to cater for a wide range of people.

    ReplyDelete
  67. RIght, and there is so much going on that they can't show too much of just one person. I'm just so excited about him! Haha.

Charlotte Salt didn't make the trailer. Would have liked a snippet of her too.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh heck! You're killing my buzz. Lol. In fairness it does look a bit dream sequency. Still, what a dream! I'd say that was indeed a "beautiful dream" Constance.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yeah she's there a couple of times, including this shot http://www.spoilertv.co.uk/images/cache/archived-old-shows/The%20Musketeers/Season%202/Trailer%20Screen%20shots/Launch%20Trailer/57_FULL.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think to be fair we can't get any more "sure of the context" about that than we can about Aramis and Anne. How many shots of d'Artagnan and Milady in s1 promos looked more than what they were?
I'm just glad to see a tease of it! And see that the WHOLE show looks to be amazing. I do like this pairing, but I like the show better! LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  71. At least this bedding spoiler doesn't require your mental bleach. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I don't wanna be a buzz kill :o It is an amazing scene :D

    ReplyDelete
  73. oh! That went by so quick, I thought it as anne!! She looks lovely!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Nope I can now enjoy eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. :) :) Until I discover it's a dream sequence cop out...

    ReplyDelete
  75. Well, I hope it's not a cop out! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  76. I hear you. Whatever it is, however it plays it looks delicious. I'm loving the look of Rochefort and his creepy voice. Athos looks and sounds amazing and I'm really liking the ominous sense that the promo gives. Nice moment too from Porthos. Oh, I can't wait. It's the perfect post Christmas treat.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Charlotte is gorgeous, you can see why Aramis' head gets turned by Marguerite :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. It definitely looks like Constagnan *does happy dance too* :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Maybe she knows what she was dreaming about earlier. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  80. HA! Is that what we shall call it now?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hhhmmm or it's before they have really mended their relationship in any way so she is embarrassed. Or maybe she got caught "working against them" in some way for Anne. Who knows....Sandi probably as she has seen TWO episodes! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  82. If the producers are giving us a steamy dream sequence towards the start of the series, they'll probably give us the real thing towards the end..
I will comment on the rest of the trailer soon, lol..

    ReplyDelete
  83. Lol, I'm struggling not to say anything here :p I don't want to give out the wrong impression of anything, or slip up and say too much, or anything. It's hard :(

    ReplyDelete
  84. They make a rather handsome couple.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'm hoping to like Marguerite. I think it would make for an interesting dilemma to find her a sympathetic character and be torn by Aramis' treatment of her. Making her a villain might be an easy way out.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Well, we have a love scene. How real it is remains to be seen. :)

    ReplyDelete
  87. It's one that I think will be interesting as well, how will she react if/when she finds out the truth. It will depend on how far she has bonded with the child I think, and if Aramis does end up falling for her instead of just using her as a way to see his son I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Me too!!! I really want to like her. I can't wait to see what she is like. Her pictures seem so soft and gentle. If she is a villain, I hope that is in one that we sympathize with and care about...maybe a conflicted villain with hope for redemption. I'd rather see this storyline for her rather than redeeming Milady.

    ReplyDelete
  89. While I dislike this idea of a "dream" scene as I seldom like those, I find it strange that they would spoil a moment like this if it really did happen...

    ReplyDelete
  90. Much more likely. I think things are probably difficult between them at this point. It's probably awkward for her even being around him. Frankly, much as I love the angst I hope it doesn't go on too long. One way or another, I'd prefer some movement rather than the whole sullen faces and longing looks.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Haha! The Constagnan Boogie. Or horizontal mambo maybe...

    ReplyDelete
  92. I personally would like to see Constance attached to other people - like Anne - but maybe the other musketeers as well. She knew Athos before d'Artagnan. How? Does she get closer to Aramis through Anne? Or Porthos as well?

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'm hoping to see this too. I think we could see a friendship with Aramis maybe. I'm also still intrigued by the fact that she knew Athos before she met D'Artagnan and clearly liked him enough to claim she was willing to pose as a prostitute to help his cause on episode one. Might be interesting to develop this.

    ReplyDelete
  94. It's all good. Whatever happens Luke Pasqualino's looking pretty damn sexy! That's worth the price of admission right there. :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Sunny, I may fling my mental bleech at the TV if it is. I LOATHE dream sequences.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Luke Pasqualino is darn hot, especially as d'Artagnan

    Heck, the whole cast is...
    Poldark? Who's Poldark?
I do wonder if Athos will be given a genuine love interest in S2 or whether he's destined to pine for Milady indefinitely? When he threw her locket on the ground in the S1 final, we thought that would be it as far as his feelings are concerned but based on what Tom has said, that might not be the case.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Oh how I hope you're right Tigercheetah. :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. Kidding my friend! :) the buzz is alive and kicking. I'm now pretty certain it's ep one or two. So someone's definitely got a very vivid imagination. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Can you confirm that it is NOT a dream sequence? That it actually happens? :)

    ReplyDelete
  100. Still I need for this Constagnan love scene to be REAL. It looks amazing! If it is a dream, I just hope it's not fuzzy or difficult to make out. I want to see every detail! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Is there any hope for Anne and Aramis this season ?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Sandi, can you confirm that it is NOT a dream sequence? That it actually happens? :) I'd be sad if this was only a dream. I need for that to be real. D'Artagnan and Constance never got a real love scene before. They need to get one! And not a dream sequence!

Or at least if this Constagnan scene is in episode 1 or 2? :)

    ReplyDelete
  103. If anything bad happens to Marguerite as a result of Aramis 'using her' - whether its death or her turning against the Musketeers - and it also comes to light that Adelle was murdered by the Cardinal, I think Adrian Hodges is very much leaning towards having Aramis realise the 'destructive' power of his charms. Adrian has said "What are the consequences for the women he get involved with him" and it's likely he's continuing that theme in S2, with Aramis possibly being changed as a result.
I even wonder if Aramis's more religious leanings will come more to the fore in any potential S3..

    ReplyDelete
  104. Sandi might not be able to confirm that I'm afraid. :(
It looks like a dream sequence to me, from the way that it's filmed -- the romantic lighting, the rather nice looking bed that neither of them could afford in reality ( unless they were messing about in one of the King's apartments, lol - but I'd also say the sequence happens in episode 1 or 2, in order to show that one half of Constagnan is pining for the other.
If the producers are showing us what Constagnan 'want to happen' at the start of the series, it's very likely the producers will show us when it 'actually' happens later on, which I think could be the tavern episode, which Jessica Pope did label as "getting even hotter' when she tweeted the pics.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I think they must have one of the hardest ships to follow, it's an impossible situation for them really. At the end of the day it's treason if they were to get together, their one night last season caused enough problems, lol. I personally think that they'd be better off not going there again this season.

    ReplyDelete
  106. The only reason I mentioned context last night was because I remember how excited shippers got after this photo last season, and then there was a massive disappointed crash after the episode aired. As you say, the snippets from promos nearly always end up looking different when you have the whole picture, that was all I wanted to put across really. I didn't mean to burst anyone's bubble, as it is a gorgeous moment of course and is obviously the start of things to come over the course of the show :)

  107. Does anyone know the artist/song playing in the trailer? I can't find it and I would very much like to hear the full song.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Hi CutePoison - the song is 'Saved' by Kwabs' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRbtTgswM1s :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. Hi CutePoison - the song is 'Saved' by Kwabs. It's the first time I've heard it but very good song for the background to the trailer. :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. The thing is that Constance is working for Queen Anne now...so technically speaking, they could find a nice bedroom for one night. :) Sneak in. But yeah, it's most likely a dream sequence.

My HOPE is that we'll still see things CLEARLY. I don't like the fuzzy effect of a dream sequence where you can't see any details due to the lighting.

So I hope it will be clear to see EVERYTHING. :)

And hey, if we get a love scene later on, then yeah I can enjoy the dream sequence for now. :)

    ReplyDelete
  111. I've come to terms with it. Lol. I think it's almost certainly some kind of fantasy sequence. I agree with you, that it would be a shame to spoil the moment when it actually happens, which I think it will eventually. The bed is a dead giveaway. In fairness at least if D'Artagnan is dreaming about her he's classy. It looks like he's taken her (mentally at least) for a dirty weekend at a 17th Century Malmaison. :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. I read an article where it talks about how Amaris' feelings towards the mother and his child will cause problems, does this mean that his fling with Marguerite (I think its her name) is just a way for him to get close to Anne and the baby or just the baby ?

    ReplyDelete
  113. As long as they're back together by mid-series at the latest - episode 6 maybe - I think most Constagnan shippers will be fine about the dream sequence. I just hope we don't get a repeat of S1 where the two of them only get together by episode 8 or 9 and barely get any time to actually develop their romance and get past the "pinning" stage. Jessica Pope did say that S2 will be "more romantic" but it wouldn't be more romantic for Constagnan if they were kept apart from most of the series.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Totally agree. As someone who seldom sees the merit in dream sequences, particularly when I don't really need an artful fantasy love scene to explain to me what these two are thinking about (I mean come on they're not looking heartbroken that they can't play scrabble with each other anymore) I think it's ultimately fair enough if we get some decent, timely progression.

    ReplyDelete
  115. It's looking increasingly likely that I'll have to nail it down. Lol. As someone who loved Moonlighting in the eighties (I'm ageing myself here) dream sequences give me a facial twitch. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Watching the trailer again. I love D'Artagnan's cool, calm, bone dry reaction to finding Milady's foot on his chest and gun in his face. We're definitely going to see a tougher D'Art this time around. How incredibly sad does Constance look? It's almost as though looking at him hurts. She actually looks like she's about to cry. Surely he can't tolerate seeing her like that for long?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yes, definitely looking forward to a tougher D'Artagnan :) Constance does look really sad and is finding it really hard to look at him, whereas he looks really pleased to see her! So, looking forward to the tension between these two. I wonder whether this meeting is before or after she gets the job at the Palace.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I have a feeling Constance may already be working at the palace when episode 1 starts, than I can't be sure. She's certainly stood with Anne and Rochefort by episode 2.
With so much apparently going on in the first episode, I don't think they'd have been time to witness her reaction to working for the Queen.

    ReplyDelete
  119. A tougher d'Artagnan is definitely something I'm looking forward to in the new series, along with him being at court more, it shows progression. A more passionate and "loving" d'Artagnan with Constance would be the icing on the cake..
OT, I see Luke's new film Retake is now fully-funded, which is great news, especially going alongside all the Musketeers 2 stuff that's happening. It will be the most ambitious thing he's ever done, even though it's an independent film rather than a mainstream one.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Great news about his indie movie. Wonder when they'll film it? Luca's going to be a busy boy.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I have a feeling that at this point she doesn't really know how to read him anymore. Depending on the extent of their estrangement at that stage, she may well think he despises her. You can see the affection in his eyes but she might not, or it would seem, can't bring herself to look at him long enough to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Retake is being filmed early next year apparently, January to February time. They have to be done in time for Luke filming any potential Musketeers 3..

    ReplyDelete
  123. It did cross my mind that perhaps Aramis would recommend Constance for the court role and may confide in her about the baby. He has seen her in action with a sword before, so knows she is both loyal and a women that would look after the baby. However, as Marguerite will be looking after the Dauphin, perhaps he may ask Constance to keep an eye out for him. This would be interesting, especially if D'Artagnan isn't privy to the parentage of the baby. However, I'm not so sure that there will be enough time for this all to happen, as Constance will probably be in her role before episode 1 begins.

    ReplyDelete
  124. BBC America just released their trailer. It has a lot of different scenes in it. :)

    http://www.bbcamerica.com/musketeers/videos/musketeers-season-2-official-trailer/

    ReplyDelete
  125. You're welcome. Wasn't sure if it had been posted. :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. I've just grabbed it off their You Tube page and added to the post, thanks for the heads up :) Some lovely extra scenes in it. I'll do some screen grabs when I get a spare moment.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I've added the screenshots now. A lot of the action is so fast that they are a bit blurry in places, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Great new trailer. Hmm, so D'Artagnan looks a bit more eager with Lucie than first anticipated. I'll be interested to see how they retrieve this one. It also looks like he might get to see her without her clothes on, perhaps taking a bath, which might earn him the slap on the face. As a Constagnan fan, I fear this could be a complicated first episode for me. I totally get the idea that after eight or more months D'Artagnan may want to move on and indeed may be desperate to flush Constance out if his mind and his heart. I just hope this is clear in the narrative and we don't get the sense that he's actually fallen in love with Lucie.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Thanks for this Bec.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Thanks Sandi & Bec666 for the trailer - the BBC America promo is so different to the UK one! It looks to me like D'Artagnan is using Lucie, either as a distraction or part of a mission, but that when he says 'I love you' he is saying that to Constance but she's not really there. The slap is probably when she finds out that he has been using her. However, I agree with you Scoobie that I hope it is clear in the narrative. It's definitely going to be a tough first episode as a Constagnan fan!

    ReplyDelete
  131. You're brill Sandi. Many thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I definitely think the "I love you" is in reference to Constance. I know he has a tendency to fall in love quickly but that would be ridiculous and more than a bit desperate if it's directed at Lucie. As she seems to disappear after episode one, it's clear going to be a flirtation that will de-rail once it becomes clear where his heart lies. How the heck they're packing all this into one episode, I've no idea. Maybe the episode will move as fast as the trailer!πŸ˜„

    ReplyDelete
  133. It seems as though Milady and Rochefort are going to teaming up in some capacity then, or will she be stringing him along, trying to get information out of him?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Knowing her, a little bit from column A and a little bit from column B.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Ha, yes! I would like to think that she is on a slightly different level to him though. She is supposedly on some sort of redemption journey this season and he is, Marc's own words, a complete bastard, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I so love Marc.πŸ˜„

    ReplyDelete
  137. Me too, I'm glad that he gets on so well with the guys too. I love the last bit of the new trailer when Athos slugs him just to see how it felt....feels good! haha XD

    ReplyDelete
  138. Nice, Bec!! So glad you get to enjoy the show in January!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Now, THAT'S a trailer! Love love love it. So glad to see more of Porthos, Athos, and Rochefort....as well as hear the theme music. Cannot wait to see Athos and Rochefort play off of each other. Kidnapped? That's a spoiler!! LOL Yes. I agree with Scoobie that the "ILY" make that scene seem even more imaginary. I prefer Milady's look from the episode 2 pics than in her pretty green dress. But it will certainly be nice to see her at court. So any random thoughts...lol

    ReplyDelete
  140. Cannot waiitttttttt for Marc!

    ReplyDelete
  141. Yes, he isn't even slightly showing any kind of distress. So calm and collected. Burke's Athos is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Luke said that the relationship between them has been "fun to play." That has to mean more than a bunch of hidden love scenes and I love yous. It has to mean the tricky stuff too. I'm sure it will all be quite interesting to watch and see play out.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Oooohhhh, but he looks to be a delightful bastard. I watched again. He's so good and it's just a trailer! I can't wait to see him in a full episode.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Maybe he is using her. He seems to the type to use her when he needs and then dump her on the street when he's done.

    ReplyDelete
  145. The promo pics are never exactly from the same angle as the camera. I'm sorry...I may change my mind when I see the episode, but I'm still not feeling so bad for her right now. She sent him away and broke his heart. What's he supposed to do??

I think it was definitely a trailer for the series as a glimpse of Antonia Thomas' character towards the end.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I definitely see this perspective. I suppose I feel sorry for her because in sending him away she broke her own heart too. I totally get that he's fully entitled to move on. Sadly, both of them are being forced at this point to settle for what they don't want and what they want has never felt further away.

    ReplyDelete
  147. He has such a calming presence about him, yet can be very intense too at times. Perfect for Athos imo.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I think we're definitely going to get more than our share if the tricky stuff this year.

    ReplyDelete
  149. There was so much in that Trailer to digest. Man it's going to be an exciting season. I have to say I loved the end with Athos. That was classic.

    ReplyDelete
  150. It took me a while to get used to his accent, I hope that the viewers are going to take to it as it is a bit of a change for him, but it really does suit him. I can see some people having an issue with the new Spanish characters having accents when the French don't too perhaps. But I can see why they have done it. You just have to treat France as the 'home turf', so to speak, and anyone from abroad has an accent to distinguish them apart.

    ReplyDelete
  151. It was wasn't it. I think Athos is going to be wonderful this year and I don't think Tom has ever looked so good.

    ReplyDelete
  152. They are all on top form this year, they know the roles inside out and are obviously having a blast making the show. They enjoy the challenge of the stunts and each others company...there needs to be a season 3 tbqh.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I had the same question! I also couldn't tell who asked, "Who is it this time" in regards to a woman. Sounded like....Aramis?

    ReplyDelete
  154. Yes, the show will most likely do much better since they are more comfortable with everything. Audience can usually tell when actors are enjoying themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I was surprised in the first trailer, but I think the better presentation in this trailer makes it some more "Rochefort" to me.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I thought it was Athos at first then I wasn't so sure. I'm thinking Rochefort because he was stuck in a Spanish prison. I have to say there was a lot of interesting stuff in that clip. :)

    ReplyDelete
  157. I think that's it Sunny. He probably sees an utterly miserable future ahead for himself, being tortured by what he can't have. When she reappears in his life, the knife will be driven back in. I could see him just wanting her to leave him alone to rebuild his life. Lucie will doubtless be his way of testing the water, so to speak and trying to see if he can generate that spark of passion with someone else. That's completely understandable as her continued presence is just opening up the wound. However, the moment she walks away from him, you just know he'll be in Hell once again. That would also explain why Constance seems to struggle to even look at him in the subsequent episodes. She adores him but she thinks he hates the very sight of her and wants her to leave him alone. Oh, these two really need to sort this.πŸ˜„

    ReplyDelete
  158. That would make him a right swine, so I don't see that. I think it will be the first time he's seen her in ages. You guys can shout "Serves you right! What did you expect?" and I'll be torn between, "Well Connie it was inevitable. You should have dumped Bonacieux like toxic waste." and "Get up those stairs Constance, drag here away by her curls and knee him in the Crown Jewels!"πŸ˜„

    ReplyDelete
  159. I think the voice you hear is Treville.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I'm not usually up this late - blurry eyed - but the US trailer definately puts a slightly different spin on some things, especially with Constagnan..

I like that there's more Rochefort..

Athos seems to have one or two darker moments too..

    I like Milady's green dress..

D'Artagnan does look a little more keen with AN. Other in this trailer but I'm not overly worried and the inclusion of the "I love you d'Artagnan" definately makes it seem more dream like..

I thought the BBC One trailer was meant to air late night but I didn't see it.....

    ReplyDelete
  161. I don't think there's any danger of it appearing like D'artagnan's fallen in love with Lucia, not with such an intense dream / daydream coming up - which I'm assuming is D'artagnan's dream rather than Constance's for now..

    ReplyDelete
  162. I think Adrian might have let slip that Milady works for / with Rochefort in his Geek interview. He's talking about how physical / violent he can allow Constance and Milady to be and that 'with Milady it's easier because she's on the side of.............. she's on the other side, whereas with Constance it's a bit harder because she's a nice, good person"

He might have been about to say 'because she's on the side of Rochefort' before quickly realising that would have been a spoiler..

    ReplyDelete
  163. I think more Rochefort gives this trailer a real edge. This is definitely going to be a messy episode for Constagnan. We did predict that he'd probably have to have an early moment of exploring his options and it looks like we were right. Although the possibility that his actions here are motivated by other factors can't be entirely ruled out, given that he receives a fairly hefty slap at some point. the way that Constance says I love you, is dream like. I only hope he'll eventually get to hear her say it for real. It's logical that, faced with the prospect of nothing but his dreams and memories, he'll try to move on. Unsuccessfully we know. Unlike most things in his life, his love for Constance isn't something he'll be able to fight and defeat.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Oh and the US trailer has a bit more blood and violence in it too, which I like..

    ReplyDelete
  165. Having more Rochefort definately adds more darkness to the trailer, as does that scene featuring a bloody axe.. Rochefort seems a bit more 'real' in the US trailer, if that makes sense.

I think I quite like the idea of D'artagnan getting a bit frustrated over Constance, it makes his feelings more real and makes him as a character more real, as does a slightly more adult take on sexuality which does play a part in passionate love affairs.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Yeah that totally makes sense. He does seem much more real and menacing here. The axe!! Yikes. The more adult tone is exactly what was needed. Theirs is a passionate affair, in which emotions are going to run high, both for good and bad. Frankly, he's also going to be a man with desires and he'll want sex. It would be unreasonable to think, at this point, that he's going to devote the rest of his life to what he believes can never be more than a fantasy. He's got to be deeply frustrated and angry with her and like you, I'd like to see this depicted on screen. She's hurt him badly and in his frustration, he may verbally lash out. While she means well, showing up at the Garrison, if all she's there for is to see he's ok, could easily be read by him as continuing to toy with his emotions. He'd be well within his rights to tell her to leave him alone and let him get on with his life. I think she'll leave the Garrison pretty devastated, convinced he now hates her and resigned to her own fate. The wound will have opened up again for him too. I think we'll then have a couple of episode where what interaction they have, will be incredibly painful. He won't be able to take his eyes off her and she'll barely be able to look at him. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how they resolve it and who makes the first move. I've said before that I hope it's Constance and I still do. She should tell him how she feels. Once she does, he'll be back in her arms like a shot.

    ReplyDelete
  167. One thing that's occurred to me is the idea ( probability ) that Louis is really taken with Milady - a strong woman, who appears to come to his rescue - when one of the things he disliked about Anne in S1 is her strength and the fact that she has "so many opinions" as he put it.
I'm not sure whether the two things really go together..

    ReplyDelete
  168. Milady is a total chameleon. If she thinks the way to get close to Louis is to agree and acquiesce to everything he says and wants, she'll do it. What's going on beneath the surface is another matter. He may also be so entranced by her after she saves his life, that he'll have no perspective and will see no wrong in her. He'll be totally bored with Anne now. She's produced the heir, so he no longer needs to tolerate her. With the situation looking grim with Spain, he could resent her even more. I've no doubt Milady will play the game however she feels she needs to play it, to get the result she wants.

    ReplyDelete
  169. One more spoiler from the last of the Xmas tv magazines - Rochefort gets a prostitute to dress up as Queen Anne because of his "perverted" interest in her. ( which is actually very similar to the role Luke is playing in his new film )

So that trailer shot of a woman's naked back might be from that scene, rather than being Lucia. I don't think the writers would have D'Artagnan leering at an unknown woman in that way anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I'm know I'm a little bit late but who's Lucie ? the blonde lady who's kissing d'artagnan in the picture ?!!

    ReplyDelete
  171. Wow, we are going dark this time...😱

    ReplyDelete
  172. I know I'm a bit late but who's Lucie ? the blonde lady who's kissing d'arthagnan in the picture ?!

    ReplyDelete
  173. Hi Hana. The blond is Lucie De Foix, daughter of General De Foix who is apparently the architect of France's military strategy against Spain. She and her father are kidnapped in episode one and the Musketeers ride to the rescue. She appears to be a temporary distraction for the lovelorn D'Artagnan. However, the exact nature of their "relationship" is not yet known. There's no indication that Lucie will play any further role in the series after episode one.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Hi Hana, I've just replied to you below.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Hi Scoobie, thanks ! I've just seen it =)

    ReplyDelete
  176. They are actually brother and sister, although I can see why they look like father/daughter from the photos, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  177. I thought they were father and daughter too.................. Oooops. :)

    ReplyDelete
  178. Yeah, I think it's an easy mistake from the photos to make, lol

    ReplyDelete
  179. Apparently some of the cast are appearing on 'Steve Wright in the Afternoon' on Radio 2 on Xmas Eve, no confirmation of who yet.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Ah. That makes sense as one of the things I wondered about was how similar they look in age. Frankly, she's no Constance. Odd choice for D'Artagnan.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Excellent.πŸ˜„They're actually doing some UK promotion! Steve's show should be a fun venue for them to have a bit of banter. Great listening figures too.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Are we all prepared???? lol

    ReplyDelete
  183. Creepy Rochefort! Eww....poor Anne. I hope he doesn't force himself upon her or something of that nature in the course of the series. I love how Anne has a sense of innocence or an almost childlike quality at times. Maybe youthful is a better word. That would be sad to me.

    ReplyDelete
  184. When she first meets D'Artagnan, she might mistake him for one of the bad guys - if the boys are in disguise rather than their Musketeer uniforms - and that's why she punches him. It might be this aspect of her character that reminds him of Constance..

    ReplyDelete
  185. I quite liked her, she's got a lot of guts, and is a fairly strong yet rounded character for what little we see of her and the role she has in the episode.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Sunny I'm bringing a torch, fluorescent jacket and of course my mental bleach.πŸ˜„

    ReplyDelete
  187. That's interesting. As Tigercheetah says, it could be her courage and spirit that interests him. It was clearly one of the qualities that drew him to Constance. I assume that if she has limited screen time, we must be dealing with a very passing inclination that could have been something more, were it not for the unscheduled arrival of D'Artagnan's very own Kryptonite.πŸ˜„

    ReplyDelete
  188. In general the show has been pretty good at not letting the female roles be damsels in distress, which is something that I do like about it.

    ReplyDelete
  189. I agree Sandi and I'm keen to see how they expand on this in series two.

    ReplyDelete
  190. I'm glad. I think the show has done an excellent job with their female characters and guest stars. I think it would be cheap to introduce someone the audience immediately dislikes just because of Constance. And if d'Artagnan is the gallant we all know and love, it would make sense for him to be interested in someone likeable. What would that say about him if he pursued someone nasty and unlikeable?

    ReplyDelete
  191. I look forward to this as well.

    ReplyDelete
  192. Hmm, he was very I treated in Milady. Even after she tried to frame him for murder. Our D'Art is a complicated boy.πŸ˜‰

    ReplyDelete
  193. Yes, but we all love Milady. I don't find her nasty or unlikeable at all.

  194. I meant if they introduced Lucie as an irritating damsel in distress who is an anti-Constance that we all immediately hate.

  195. I think Milady rocks but I must confess I'd put her pretty high in the nasty scale. I've a feeling she'll be improving her position on that scale, this year.πŸ˜„

  196. They definitely couldn't get away with writing her as an irritant. I'm sure she'll have sympathetic qualities and I sincerely doubt she'll be overtly pursuing D'Artagnan. I think what moments occur between them will probably simply evolve from events and the two of them being thrown together. As a Constagnan fan, the best I can muster is to tolerate her as a plot necessity. I have a feeling I'll be a much happier camper from episode 2 on.πŸ˜„
