This week, The Mentalist moves to Beirut, where Jane and Lisbon work as an undercover couple to help Erica Flynn who agrees to help the FBI apprehend her boyfriend, a courier for terrorist organizations, in exchange for amnesty for the past crimes.
The funny thing is watching Lisbon's reaction when Erica on camera says she needs "Patrick". Abbott's comment just add the fun "Interesting woman." Of course, he must have understood something because he's not surprised at all when Lisbon, who previously rejected to go to Beirut, suddenly changes her mind.
Jane and Lisbon's reunion with Erica is a bit awkward. While Miss Flynn wants to have a friendly chat, Lisbon just goes ahead with the interrogation in her professional style, asking her about her boyfriend's work as courier. Also, you can see how she's kinda jealous of Erica Flynn; she's never stood at her. Can you blame her? Teresa and Erica are two opposite women.
Erica is a femme fatale, she knows how to flirt and get what she wants. When she learns of Jane and Lisbon, she does everything she can to make him trust her, because she knows how to play with him.
Teresa is tough, she finds difficulties to express herself and let someone in her life. She found Jane who opened to her and she did the same. They didn't drown into each other - like Erica will say later. The find themselves a way to start again.
Bu Teresa learnt the best from her boyfriend: she learnt how to be a good liar. Since they both know Erica's game, they pretend to fight to fool her. It takes a while to understand Erica betrayed Jan to take all the money and fly without amnesty from the FBI. When she walks out the door, she finds Lisbon ready to arrest her as if she couldn't wait to do that. Sassy Lisbon is always ready to defend her man.
Anyway, Jane soon learns how hard is to trust a terrorist and make him believe he's the right man to work with. First, he's taken by Jan's men to do a 'fresh shower' in order to repeat the names they tell him - I guess every woman wanted to be that towel above Simon Baker's hair in that moment. Once, they know he's good at the memory game, Jan can meet Jane and explains his plan.
Meanwhile, Vega's ambition leads her in a dangerous situation when she crashes with her car into Jon Paul's car. Cho decides it's better she stays in the office with Wylie, also because she lied about Abbott agreed to bring her on the field. If she keeps on playing with fire, it's going to end fatal. Dear Michelle, friendly reminder Van Pelt had to wait till season 2 to get action on the field.
What do you think about Jane and Lisbon's relationship at this point? Also, what do you think about Vega's behaviour? Share your comments below.
Awesome episode.
ReplyDeletei loved the side story too with vega and cho
ReplyDeleteLoved this episode too. Thanks for reading!
ReplyDeleteVega is growing up as character, maybe too fast.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the fight scene when lisbon says, "Do what you want. I'm done." I was wondering if this fight was a set up in order to make Erica think she has a chance with Patrick and have her make a move on him or if it's the truth and Lisbon really meant it but then reconsidered and came back to the hotel. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteI'm confused though because this was originally meant to be the season premiere but I guess they moved things around to make the pike moment and two week break occur. It was a great episode
ReplyDeleteIt was a trick. Jane and Lisbon were playing to make Erica move and reveal her true intentions.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was supposed to air as 7.01
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I believed for a second that Lisbon got angrybecause of jealousy :))) She must have been progressed in acting, she has such a good teacher! (so she should succeed in 704 ) The scene in bathroom scared me a little, maybe becaise it was a bit long... But the ep is extremely good! Jisbon is cool and pleasantly unpredictable, agent Shipper-King Abbott is doing his best and the whole team is great!
ReplyDeleteI definetely believe that Abot is the bigger Jisbon shipper ! besides .. ;) I loved the episode !
ReplyDeleteIt would have been a great episode.
ReplyDeleteThen came the part where they tried to say suicide bombings in the middle east are committed by Russians and Filipinos.
Why are liberals so afraid to admit that it's MUSLIMS that are committing the terrorism all over the world.
Their cowardice is disgusting.
Storewide I don't think it was intended to air first, but it was the first episode of the season to shoot. I think they did that to allow for Morena to shoot within her schedule.
ReplyDeleteThis is a TV show and therefore fiction.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore, Muslims are not a country, Filipinos and Russians can be Muslims as well. Also, it's not "Muslims" in general who terrorize the world, it's the radical ones that do.
I don't know that.
ReplyDeleteHe's the captain of the SHip ;)
ReplyDeleteLike someone else said, this is a TV show and also a fiction.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever watched Homeland?
Thanks for the review! I am loving Jane and Lisbon's relationship at this point. A lot of people complain that they don't exhibit a lot of physical attraction to each other (a similar complaint was hurled at Castle & Beckett) but I don't think we need a whole lot of kissing cause it fits the personalities of the duo (I mean seriously people...if after more than 6 yrs of watching these two you still don't understand how their minds work?). Plus they say more with their expressions than a couple on a typical CW show could with a ton of making out!
ReplyDeleteAnd did I talk already about Jane's weekly gifts? That rooftop ice cream/firework night out was just perfect
Great review. Loved the episode. Cutest couple on TV right now.
ReplyDeleteWonderful episode!! TOP 5 favourite! Season 7 is great and every episode continues to get better and better!
