The Big Bang Theory - The Champagne Reflection - Review

My apologizes for posting the review late. I've been so busy with personal stuff to take care of.

Shamy plot:
Amy and Sheldon are filming the final episode of Fun with Flags. Sheldon gets mad over the smallest thing for Amy not letting the show have 233 episodes due to her inability to record during the 4th of July episode. He was definitely OCD in this one. They go back to their favorite highlights of the show. For example, Amy was dressed up as a kangaroo for the Australian flag episode and Kripke (knowing his unfortunate speech impediment) mispronouncing "Flag". He was playing a game of "Flag or not a flag". Then, there was a highlight of Sheldon dressing up as Betsy Ross. It was great to see him have a sense of humor of cross-dressing someone. I enjoyed seeing Kripke again but I would have love to see him antagonize Sheldon like he always does in other episodes.

The final "Fun with Flags" episode has a cameo appearance with the wonderful Levar Burton. He agreed to appear in the segment in exchange Sheldon deleting his contact information and he has to be watched by him. He is inappropriate towards him for showing a video of his impersonation of George Carver Washington.

He announces to this his "little Flag-keeters" (the audience) that this is the last episodes and he would salute all of them for watching his series. He praises Amy for being the first female co-host to be in a flag Internet show. Sheldon claims that hosting this show has been a crazy ride and he would not give it up for the world. He cries on his white flag. She tells him that he gave a great speech but just as he tells her that if she did not record the show, she screams that she recorded the segment. Good for her sassing him back after all the hard work she went through to put those segments for the audiences to watch.

Leonard, Howard, and Raj plot:
Meanwhile, the guys are cleaning up the now-deceased Professor Roger Abbott's office. They find some interesting stuff that he kept in his room including a book of numbers. Leonard wants to decrypt to those books and they end up visiting Professor Sharp. They find out that Abbott had always kept a food diary and wrote how much calories he ate for each food. They find out that his research was nothing special. Even though Sharpe won a Nobel Prize, he lives in a cheap apartment to be more frugal. The plot with the men did not blend well with the other ones. Did Roger Abbott ever appear in an episode of the show? I don't think so. Why introduce a deceased character when he never appeared on the show? That did not make sense to me. The only part that was actually good about that plot was Raj making a reference to Who Framed Roger Rabbit?. He tells the guys that they will never find out who framed him.

Penny & Bernadette plot:

Bernadette's sassiness finally comes to haunt her. At the banquet, their boss, Dan is afraid of Bernadette every time she comes close to him. It's because she made vicious comments about his grandson at the picnic. Also, she screamed at them for not winning the three-legged race, something very small. She admits that she's heard people called her harsh but she defends her self because she thinks she's the sweetest person to know.

Later on, she did not realize how much hurt she had towards many people. She only did this because her dad taught her how to be tough but Penny thinks that's different from bullying others. This causes her to want to leave the banquet. However, Penny wants her to face the music. Bernadette apologizes to her boss about what the remarks she said about his grandson. She hopes that no one will walk eggshells around her. Her boss lets her know that the company will stop paying for coffee but that started five months ago. She finds out that her boss and Penny have been paying for her coffee. Also, her private bathroom should have been for everyone. She starts crying and did not realize she was THAT mean to everyone. Penny lets her know that she should not cry to get what she wants.

Ending:

Sheldon finds out that no one commented on his series finale of "Fun with Flags". Leonard knows how he feels because he spent the whole day cleaning up Abbott's entire career and the only thing he found out was a bottle of champagne. Finally, someone leaves a comment that they kind of liked the show. This inspires him to revive FWF. Sheldon opens a bottle of champagne to celebrate but it was not meant for him.

He later goes to Levar Burton's house to see if he can be his first guest for his revived show but the door gets slammed in his face by him. I love how he stalks the celebrities only to get teased by them. The only one that has really tolerated him all the time is James Earl Jones. Wil Wheaton hated Sheldon at first but they are now friends. Every other celebrity cannot stand his craziness.

My Thoughts:
Even though this wasn't my favorite episode of the season due to the guy's plot not connecting the episode well with me, the plot with Shamy and Bernadette/Penny was very solid. I'm really glad this episode covered the consequences of Bernadette's strong personality and that she had to pay the price for what she did. I'm glad she was very remorseful for what she did. Hopefully, in the deleted scenes, we could see her screaming at her boss and his grandson on the DVD season 8 set. I would have love to see what would have happened. I loved how her boss referenced her meanness to the monster from the movie, Monsters, Inc. I'm glad that we get to see more of FWF and I love how Amy handles and tolerates his high maintenance behavior. Him getting mad over her forgetting to record the 4th of July special was like him not being able to use a $1 coupon at the grocery store. I hope you enjoyed this recap & review.
