Kane and Jaha had the most interesting scenes for me this time, so my vote goes to them. Still I thought there were a lot fo great scenes to chose from. I like how they keep separating the main characters.
ReplyDeleteThere was lots to like in this episode! I really didn't feel like they were hard enough on Finn though.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Bellamy and Octavia finding Lincoln as a reaper (and with Christmas music playing in the background as well!)
I like the Kane/Jaha scenes as well though and it was nice to see Raven and Abby working together again.
Many good ones in this episode....I went with Raven tapping into MW communications and learning that the acid fog is actually a weapon. Now that they can listen in, it changes a lot - could even be used as a bargaining chip with the Grounders???
ReplyDeleteHonorable Mention:
When Raven first spots the tower and gives the binoculars to Clarke instead of Abbie. The fact that Raven considered Clarke her leader even with the presence of Abbie and The Guard speaks volumes. Bonus - the look of shock on Abbie's face when Raven handed them to Clarke instead of her!
Honorable, Honorable Mention:
Another Raven moment - when she is in the tent with Abbie and discuss the pros and cons of blowing the communications: "Though choice. I know what Clarke would do". Again, another nod to Clarke's leadership and the trust she has earned from them.
This show's hiatus is going to kill me!
I agree about Finn. I was a little annoyed that both him and Murphy got cleared of all charges and even more annoyed that it happened off camera (these are arguments I would have liked to see - did Finn say it was an accident to the Council too???). The writers are tweeting that there will be more to this but in the meantime, I saw an article that gives a different POV to the way the Finn thing was handled and after reading it, it did change my perspective on how the writers presented it.

ReplyDeleteIt definitely explains how it works well for the other characters' story and development but still not for Finn at all. The 'we did what we had to do' argument at least applies to some degree to what everyone else had done, but for Finn it doesn't, imo anyway, he killed unarmed, innocent people who were no threat to them. Killing them didn't help Finn or anyone else in any way (in fact made things far worse because there will be a retaliation). And the one grounder that ran was running away, not towards Finn & Murphy to fight them, so there was no need to shoot him at all.
The only way this will work well for Finn's story is if he dies in this half the season, it's what I really want to happen tbh, I don't hate the character I just think it fits really well with the show and where his character has gone.
One of my favs not listed was the beginning of the episode at the table with Clarke/Bellamy, Clarke/Finn/Murphy, and Clarke/Raven.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on all points. While the argument of "we did what we had to do" is more convincing in the case of other characters, it doesn't work for Finn at all and I think he knows it. Ultimately, I think Finn is using the argument to appease his guilt - when he told Clarke it was an "accident" that itself is a contradiction to the "we did what we had to do" argument and I think this is ultimately going to lead to his death - he will sacrifice himself knowing that his death will not only be a catalyst of peace with Lexa's tribe of Grounders, but it is also the only way he will be able to find peace within himself.
ReplyDeleteThe scene between Finn and Clarke broke my heart. It shows how ugly war is and how hard it is to determine what is good and what is evil. I loved the twist with Jaha and Kane and Lexa. Nice work!
