Look, up in the sky! It's … Claire Holt?
Holt, who plays Rebekah on the CW's “The Vampire Diaries” and its offshoot “The Originals,” is among those testing for the lead role in CBS's upcoming comic-book adaptation “Supergirl,” an individual familiar with the situation told TheWrap.
The one-hour drama project, which has received a series commitment from CBS, will follow the exploits of Kara Zor-El. Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she's been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin (also known as Superman). But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
Warner Bros. Television declined comment to TheWrap.

Yes, I would love her to get this part :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see her in the role either her or Georgina Haig
ReplyDeleteIf she is in. I will watch it!
ReplyDeletePlease read what I said. I was referencing the "So tired of more superhero tv shows"
ReplyDeleteI thought it was implied but I guess not.

ReplyDeleteI've always imagined this particular role played by her as soon as it was announced.I hope she passes the test!Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteSHE ROCKS!
ReplyDeleteI can absolutely see her being Kara based on appearance alone. Haven't seen her in anything recently (not and Originals or TVD fan) but she was great in H20 5 or so years ago. I imagine she's a lot better now and could definitely be a good leading lady.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Just keep the show separate from the Arrowverse and I'll be a very happy DC fan.
ReplyDeleteOH MY FREAKING GOD LET HER GET THE ROLE PLEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSeems to be a weird network to have it on though.
ReplyDeleteWasn't The Wrap the place that reported Cumberbatch was playing Doctor Strange? And yet months later still nothing confirmed. Just saying take reports like this with a huge grain of salt.
ReplyDeleteShe has her moments, but she can't carry a show and more importantly she can't carry the physicality. If she has to, I hope they let her use her normal accent so she isn't lisping trying to do her version of an American one.
ReplyDeleteThis is great news. I hope she gets it.
ReplyDeleteNow I bet we are all cool if Kara does crossovers with Oliver and Barry like reported may happen.
She is fairly capable and certainly cute, but after seeing her in 4 or 5 different projects I have yet to be impressed by her work. Every project is different and I always say writing and direction can make or break an actor/ actress, but.... Honestly if she is cast as the lead my interest in the project will decrease....
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for someone bustier and maybe fitter :P She is beautiful and she would get in supershape for this but I would still like a sexier Supergirl
ReplyDeleteGood for Claire, but we need her on The Originals :(
ReplyDeletePlease no!

Claire seems born to play this role.
Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteYES!!PLEASE GET HERRRR!!!
ReplyDeleteI still don't get why they're even doing it..the show I mean. I would have no problem with Laura Vandervoolt reprising the role...but Claire Holt works too!
ReplyDeletetill now 4 to 5 actress have been tested .all big names
ReplyDeletei hope they have a good budget to produce this kinda show not like smallville.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see her as super girl.
ReplyDeleteWell with improving effects and a major network budget, it should be good.
ReplyDeleteInteresting casting can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteWell she's on Bitten, and most producers don't like live-action reprisals in different continuity.
ReplyDeleteI feel less is more with Rebekah now. Since not gonna lie I don't care for Marcel/Rebekah and that would be everywhere if she was a regular.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people really hate the idea of Arrow and aliens. Which I don't agree with.
ReplyDeleteSo much sexualization.
ReplyDeleteYeah I have tho agree with Aydrian, it just seems like the idea of another superhero adaptation automatically bothers you by even existing.
ReplyDeleteAssuming she gets it.
ReplyDeleteWho tested besides Holt?
ReplyDeleteThat would simply be amazing. Finally a role with a character up for something else than being loved..
ReplyDeleteThat's why it says that Claire is among those who are being tested. Nothing confirmed nor denied. It just so happens her name is at the moment recognizable to fans of fantasy/sci fi shows.
ReplyDeleteYes, please, I would watch the show only for her, miss her A LOT in The Originals, she was the best character. Need her on my screen more oftenly!!!
ReplyDeletewell since TO has a rather off filming schedule that doesen't coincide with other shows they could still get her.
ReplyDeleteThey filmed 4 more episodes directly after the season finished and had a longer break to give Gillies enough time to shoot Saving Hope, so they could get her in her free time :D
because aliens are so much weirder than a guy that gets hit by lightning and now runs faster than a speeding buller, or weirder than a crazed ninja that catches an arrow or weirder than a soldier that gets injected with a super-serum :P
ReplyDeleteIMO Arrow and Supergirl would go hand in hand rather well. Personality wise our current Arrow and Kara would fit together pretty well. She's distanced and doesen't get humanity that well and Oliver is emotionally distanced
Does anyone know who are the other frontrunners? I mean, she looks the part, but without knowing who the competition is I'm not putting all my chips in this box. I do love Claire, but I've only seen her as Rebecka, so I'm not sure she can pull it off.
ReplyDeleteand...who knows whats going to happen - leah pipes might actually become her- im not happy about that but who knows
ReplyDeletei hope that Danielle Chuchran is trying for this - im torn between those two - since I do not know who is testing for the role
ReplyDeleteNo please no
ReplyDeleteFirst Candice now Claire... team barbie! :) although i must admit i find Claire more fitting to the role
ReplyDeleteare you nuts?! We must save Claire Holt from that appaling show!
ReplyDeletethey wanted Phoebe and look at where she got them... lol
I'm so happy Claire got away in time...
i'Ve heard about Candice too
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's unfortunate that they're considering a CW-level actress for the lead role on a network show. I was hoping for a bit more production quality from this. Now it is looking like they are making a CW superhero show for CBS. Why not just put it on the CW?
ReplyDeleteNow, let's not act like everyone on broadcast is Meryl Streep. Claire has room for improvement, but I'd put her ahead of a fair amount of broadcast leads.
ReplyDeleteyes. there is no one else who can play Rebekah, nothing against Leah.
ReplyDeleteDidn't she say she wanted to focus on movie career?
ReplyDeleteWell, I definitely won't watch it but good luck to Claire with other roles.
ReplyDeleteAppalling? The Originals is the best show on The CW other than JtV so let's agree to disagree.
ReplyDeleteCandice Accola had been my first choice for a while, but I was torn between loving Caroline Forbes and wanting her to get the hell away from Julie Plec. But damn, this would be awesome. Also, I guess her character in Aquarius will be getting offed by the end of the first season?
ReplyDeleteShe won't. Even if she did it wouldn't happen for more than an episode. Plec gets attached to actors a lot.
ReplyDeleteMostly I'm worried that stretching the universe into three different shows is pushing it. Supergirl can't exactly blow up the Earth when Arrow takes place there as well. Imagine if Gotham were taking place in the same universe too, it would be overstuffed. And for serialized shows like Arrow, this is a bigger risk.
ReplyDeleteThat said, the Flash fits in seamlessly and I'm really looking forward to the crossover! And I'm sure Supergirl would be amazing all on its own.
this show need a good actrice, the only thing what claire can play is a easy girl
ReplyDeletethe ratings say otherwise...
