Note: The following labels are based on the household overnights and are subject to change given the availability of other pending data streams. The overnights are your first look at what to potentially expect when the other results come in. And we always take into account other benchmarks including the expected demographic ratings, potential DVR usage, the critical acclaim (or lack of) and the social media presence. Keep in mind, as always, that results for any live sporting event are always approximate.

-Winners:
“Sunday Night Football” (NBC)

Ratings Breakdown:
The Dallas Cowboys at the Philadelphia Eagles on “Sunday Night Football” led NBC to another end of week overnight victory. The match-up averaged an estimated 15.1 rating/24 share in households from 8:30-11:30 p.m., peaking in the 9:30 p.m. half-hour at a 15.7/24. Comparably, this was nine percent above the 13.9/22 for the New England Patriots at the San Diego Chargers one week earlier (and that translated into 21.15 million viewers and a 7.1 rating/20 share among adults 18-49, based on the Live Plus Same Day data).

Earlier in the evening was pre-game “Football Night in America” at a 2.1/ 4 (#3t) at 7 p.m., a 4.3/ 7 (#3) at 7:30 p.m., and a dominant 8.9/14 at 8 p.m.

Due to an estimated 20-minute late start on the East Coast for a primetime football overrun, all individual program results for CBS are approximate. With that in mind, granddaddy “60 Minutes” was second in the 7 p.m. hour, with an 8.3/14 in the overnights, and it led into the season-premiere of well-intentioned “Undercover Boss” at a respectable 6.0/ 9 at 8 p.m. Next on the Eye net was another episode of the final season of “The Mentalist” at a 5.7/ 9 at 9 p.m. (#3), followed by tired “CSI” at a 4.9/ 8 (#3) at 10 p.m. Chances are “CSI” will be coming to an end this spring.

As a reminder, worthy “Undercover Boss” will remain in the Sunday 8 p.m. hour for two more weeks before moving into its former Friday 8 p.m. hour on Jan. 2.

Over at ABC, Barbara Walters returned from her so-called retirement to host “Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014,” which scored a 5.8/ 9 in the overnights from 9-11 p.m. Comparably, that was eight percent below the 90-minute edition year-ago on Wednesday 12/18/13 (from 9:30-11 p.m.), and that translated into 8.89 million viewers and a 2.2 rating/7 share among adults 18-49, based on the Live Plus Same Day data). As for Amal Clooney being named the Most Fascinating Person of 2014 – seriously??? So, marrying George Clooney is worthy of this accolade? According to Barbara Walters: “This is Amal Alamuddin, George Clooney’s beautiful bride. You could say hers was the wedding of the year. But let’s put it into perspective: It was really one of the greatest achievements in human history.”

Maybe Barbara Walters should have stayed in retirement!

Earlier in the evening on ABC was 7-8 p.m. special, “Backstage With Disney on Broadway: Celebrating 20 Years” at a mere 2.1/ 3 (#3). And it led into always demo friendly “Once Upon a Time” at a 3.8/ 6 (#3) at 8 p.m.

Fox, meanwhile, opened with an estimated 30-minute primetime football overrun (#1: 14.4/24 at 7 p.m.) into post game “The OT” at an 8.3/14 (#1) at 7:30 p.m. Next was a repeat of veteran “The Simpsons” at a 3.5/ 5 (#4) at 8 p.m., followed by “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#4: 2.6/ 4), an encore of “Family Guy” (#4: 2.2/ 3) and relocated “Bob’s Burgers” (#4: 1.9/ 3) from 9:30-11 p.m.
