I thought it was pretty damn great. Jax was a man on a mission and boy did he accomplish this. It wrapped up storylines and characters and I was pleased with what I saw.
That was utterly brilliant. There is never gonna be another show like Sons of Anarchy. I've watched a lot of shows in the last decade to the point that I watch close to 100 shows a year now and I've never seen anything like that or that brilliant. I don't think we're ever gonna see anything like Sons of Anarchy again. All 7 seasons it was a top 5 show for me. A lot of time a show starts to drag on to the point where you just want it to end like True Blood or progressively get worse like Dexter but that didn't happen with Sons of Anarchy. I'm very glad I decided to give this show a shot. I started really liking it in episode 4 but I was hooked by the end of episode 12.
A pretty good wrap up of the show, I actually got a little sad in the last montage. Still, even though it had a good ending, that can't make up for the last few lackluster seasons. For me, it'll go down as a good show, but not a great one. Hope to see more from the cast because there was some solid talent there. All in all, the finale was satisfying.
Goddamnit and I was keeping it together so well tonight. I can't believe this is actually it! What can I say except my favorite quote from Tig totally fits the show "I'm terrified… but I'm totally erect."
That was an impecceble ending for the show and was the ending that had to happen. Sons was one of the best shows of the decade, and definitely within my top 10. The writing and acting were superb and the overall mood of the finale was divine and bonechilling at the same time. I really do wish JT would of made an appearance of some kind just for the imagery of it. Glad to see that Jax got to send another fuck you to the IRA before he left. I am very happy with the finale and think that it was the best time to end the show. Even with the finale being predictable it did not infringe on the emotion or the enjoyment of the episode one bit. I will miss you SAMCRO and wish you an eternity of being remembered by the future generations of television, and hope you will inspire a plethora of television to come.
It was ok. Like much of the show's final two seasons, it was too little too late. Not that this was a bad finale. It was a fine finale. There was just no reason for there to have been seven seasons, or for the final 26ish episodes to all be the length of a movie. There just wasn't story to warrant all of this.
That said, the biggest thing that put a huge damper on the finale for me was the obnoxious symbolism. Jesus christ. We get it, Sutter, Jax is a martyr and for some reason, parallels Jesus Christ. Okay, we get it, you took huge amounts of inspiration from Shakespeare. Really, we get it. I'm literally choking right now.
The CGI was fucking terrible. I get that having Jax actually ride into a speeding truck is pretty much impossible to fake well, so I'll be lenient there. But the blood? What the fuck is that? Are you using Adobe AfterEffects? You couldn't use artificial blood at the time of filming? That totally broke the final shot for me.
Overall, Sons ended the exact way it should've ended, and that's an ending that would've been really satisfying if it had come two or three seasons earlier. The show as a whole was dragged out so much. The finale had a few scenes that were a bit awkward because like the past two seasons, crucial information is randomly withheld from the audience just so we can be surprised when something of substance actually happens. Things that should've given the viewer great satisfaction were just kind of swept away for more of Jax saying goodbye and acting ominous and no one but Lyla and Nero realizing what was going on -- kind of annoying.
This was the ending that the show needed, but not the one that we deserved. 6.5/10
Also, what the hell was up with Jax's limp? Did Charlie Hunnam get hurt, or was there symbolism that I didn't understand? They brought it to the viewers attention last week as if it was going to be pivotal, but it was just limp.
Good stuff -- so many great character beats. More than one scene choked me up. You can tell Sutter was really going for broke with these last few episodes. And while I wasn't a fan of those last couple seconds of CGI, I truly enjoyed the interesting symbolism that ran throughout this episode. Hopeful, triumphant, redeeming, violent, sad, and utterly grim all at the same time. And that final Shakespeare quote about love was the perfect end note.
I guess I tended to see her as representing the Grim Reaper. She always seemed to appear to Jax or Gemma at times of critical, life-or-death decision. Someone said that the character's apparently meant to be an actual ghost -- the woman who was accidentally killed in JT's 1993 collision. And I agree ... that shot of Abel twisting the ring was pretty sinister. Seemed to suggest that he's headed in that direction, unless Wendy or Nero can save him somehow.
In my opinion, it was the only ending for the series. Jax righted all of his wrong's and went out on his own terms. It was a bit poetic considering JT's death. I thoroughly enjoyed the finale as sad as it was, I expected it.
I just watch this episode for the second time and i loved it Kurt did a great job. I hate when my favorite characters dies but the way Jax's went out the same way his dad did was pretty good for a closing scene. To have Vic Mackey Michael Chiklis (Milo) hit him was cool. Jax and the Crazy lady her telling him its time giving him the blanket and then Marks getting killed bye Jax that way him hidden under the blanket was awesome. I like the fact that Jax's killed another Irish King was nice too. Plus Barosky getting shot in the head was also nice i like Jax tied up all lose threats to his club and what he put together for all the faction the sons work with. The good bye to his sons, Nero his dad and the clubs was heart warming and im guessing made a lot of people cry. Kurt did such a good job with this show.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Thanks to all, fans and crew :-)
p.s.: the CGI was pretty bad, though! Ahah

ReplyDeleteFor me; I saw the homeless lady as chaos... I felt that was what she represented, what did you think...and I felt Abel is gonna be a future SOA
