This episode was just a "fuel-up" for the series finale. It was great and it closed some storylines. Now Jax has to deal with Barosky, Connor, Marks and the Mayhem vote.
Good to see Michael Chiklis. It really closed the appearances of all The Shield main actors. Kurt Sutter really listens to his fans. It was also good to see Robert Patrick back.
Sad to see Gemma, Juice and Unser go. I really thought Unser was going to make it, but I guess that's what happens when you are writing an episode under a deadline.
NO I don't think that Kurt just wrote because he was under a deadline. I think he knew all along who is going to die and it was perfect with Unser staying saying that Gemma was all he had left. Jax tried to get Unser to leave. I loved this episode. I was expecting that right before Jax shot her that she would have shot herself.
One thing I can say for Sutter is that he made me feel terrible while giving me the two deaths I was craving the whole show. They killed Clay after he had time to compose himself and go out with some form of honor and integrity and I felt bad watching him die.
Now, I cried when Gemma died. Actual, full tears. For GEMMA. I've been calling for her head for years and I was weeping. "My baby boy." "It's okay. I'm ready." ARE YOU KIDDING ME, KURT ?! I was not ready or willing to get emotional about this and he dragged it out of me. I hate and love Sons of Anarchy. I hate it and love it so much. The ultimate manipulation: Gemma wins it all in the end. No other show made me so emotional. Just Six Feet Under, The SHIELD (in another way), The Wire (but in a very softly way, not like that) and Friday Night Lights.
Katey, Katey, Katey... she's one hell of an actress with the voice of an angel.
I find myself growing more tiresome of Jax than the convoluted criminal power plays going on in the show. Killing Unser just made me want Jax severely punished more than before. I wonder how Nero will react to Gemma and Unser being dead. I wonder how Wendy will react to what happened to Gemma and that Jax had a hand in it the very night they reconnected which bored me. For a moment, I thought Jax wasn't going to kill Gemma because that would just give her what she wanted and letting her live would be his way of trying to be the good man Tara wanted him to be. But, no, he killed her which to me was a predictable outcome. Gemma's death and Juice's left me with no emotional impact unlike Unser's.
Personally I would of liked it better to have Gemma be arrested and charged with 1st or 2nd degree murder of what's her name, Rotting in prison would have been a far better punishment, than a bullet to the back of the head. Next week the club will have there mayhem vote and Jax will lose his patch and his life. The End
None of those deaths affected me; just like when Clay died, I didn't care anymore. What's interesting is that with Gemma's death, they made me not care in record time compared to Clay, Unser, and Juice.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
It wasn't as good as the previous 2 episodes but it was good. I did not expect that many people to die in this episode.

ReplyDeleteAck. Unser. I was rooting for him to make it through the end. Jax was straight up cold.

Amazing episode and now I cannot wait for the series finale.

ReplyDeleteWhat I want to know is, why did Gemma get to die when she was ready? Tara wasn't ready to die when Gemma butchered her.
ReplyDeleteNone of those deaths affected me; just like when Clay died, I didn't care anymore. What's interesting is that with Gemma's death, they made me not care in record time compared to Clay, Unser, and Juice.
ReplyDeleteBecause Jax is ready to follow her very soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reply, but I don't really buy that as a proper explanation. I don't think the character deserved to be ready.
