I rated the episode lower than maximum because of the interrogation scene. Just like in the SEAL hunter episode I felt the team went too far, and used unnecessarily strong "tactics" (in Seal Hunter I felt like Sam was not outing a fake navy seal and making him confess that he is a liar, but just humiliating the guy. And I am sure that was not the intention of the scene). In this episode I actually turned my attention (both watching & listening( away from the screen in the middle of the interrogation scene when Deeks IMO went "too far" with pressuring the guy. It might be a valid interrogation tactic and necessary, but to me it felt ... wrong. (in 5x19 Deeks interrogation technique made sense, because of the situation...with him thinking the person he cares about the most had died, but in here I thought that perhaps a different technique could have been used by the writers. Cause it seems the guy had mental health problems or autism or something....) I wonder if it is Max Gentry showing himself, or Deeks ptsd. Cause it did feel a bit "too much"
I also did not "connect" really with the Sam and his father story. It also felt a bit off when considering some of the material they have shot in the past... even if those scenes never made it to the actual episode. That story was good, but not great for me.
Other than that I loved the episode. This season is solid and great. I always enjoy Sam & Callen banter, and Deeks and Kensi banter, plus some adorable Neric. And I loved the whole team scenes. The action and BOOMS! did not disappoint. I missed Granger!
I am with you on this one. Deeks and Kensi interrogation felt really wrong. Especially the second part. They were interrogating a disrupted kid not a cold-blooded killer... And even Sam with the homemade mine, even if he was obviously bluffing and they were running out of time it felt too much. And sometimes they have a too sensitive trigger. I feel like they shoot for nothing. When they are shot at, okay. But sometimes they go too far.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
