I thought it was going to be about the original librarian which was the only reason I watched now I don't know if I should continue since it looks like he isn't the main character
Should I wait until I see the third movie to watch this or does it matter? I caught up with the first two movies this week and I was gonna buy the third movie and watch it before starting the show, but I'm very intrigued.
Not bad. Rebecca Romjin is a terrible actress and her character is annoying, which bogs the shown down since her character is the main character. But it's not bad, a good first two episodes.
That was a lot of fun! The opening sequence was awesome. I like the Libraionettes (with the possible exception of the thief. He felt underdeveloped to me.) Christian Kane looked like he was really enjoying himself. :-) I had a couple of logic blips but overall it was fun and charming.
Light escapist fun with a few good one-liners, but poor action scenes and absolutely terrible VFX.... I love John Larroquette, but not even he could make me watch this again!
I loved it, it was so good! Definitely a new favourite of mine :) I really love Cassandra and Jenkins but the entire cast is brilliant! I'm gonna really miss Cal though :(
It was pretty good, it gives a nice old fashioned action/adventure vibe. I hope they will find the library proper by the end of the first season. Btw, whatever happened to the crown at the end? Flynn dropped it, and then it seemed to have disappeared....o.O
I was so happy to finally get to see The Librarians last night. It seems like we waited forever. Christian Kane was amazing as always. He is my favorite, but the whole cast was great. I loved the show so much that I watched it again as it was airing twice. My family will definitely be watching every Sunday. It is great to have a show that the whole family can watch together.
I loved the show! I watched it twice on Sunday! Looking forward to watching this show. The whole cast was wonderful. Christian Kane was awesome as always! What a treat to see Matt Frewer as well. Anything that Dean Devlin is behind you know it will be outstanding
Very entertaining. A light hearted escape from the regular blood and guts shows on television. I am not a big fan of Rebecca Romijn's acting so far, hopefully she will loosen up as the show goes on. Loved Christian Kane and Noah Wyle. Looking forward to next weeks adventure.
I'll be giving a few more episodes, shows can often change a fair bit after their pilots. I found the music the most annoying part of the show, it was absolutely terrible and took me out of the scene on many occasions. It was like they thought they were scoring a pantomime in places. The edit didn't do it any favours either imo.
I do like the premis of the show, and there are parts I did enjoy. I wasn't sure that such an iconic British myth was going to be the best starting point for it before watching, and now I do wish they had gone with another subject matter if I'm honest.
I loved it! It's an interesting group of characters played by a wonderful cast! I enjoyed seeing Christian Kane return to TV! Can't wait for the next episode!
Yes, it was almost cartoon music at times, used to emphasize just how silly a scene was. We can already see how silly everyone was acting, it really didn't need to be underlined. At least there wasn't a laugh track.
I expected bad VFX as well since I have seen the movies, but the VFX were so terrible I found it distracting.
It really did feel like a made for kids show with how bad the writing, the visual effects, the music, and the fight scenes were. Just shockingly bad for primetime TV.
I think there is a definite niche for a family action adventure series liek this so I can understand why people enjoy it, but like you I am surprsied by the praise of it as well.
Even if the writing were to improve in the next episodes I think there will be too many negatives for me to enjoy the show. I don't think I will watch i again..
I am a lover of history and I usually can accept how loose the movies were with reality and real history, but I will admit, these episodes tested my suspension of disbelief!
I haven't seen the films so I was flying blind here a little I must admit. My feeling is that if you can't make something look authentic on screen, it's probably best to choose a different subject. The crown jewel and the henge, for example, were ludicrous :s
I very much enjoyed it! I've seen people say that it was just Warehouse 13 with a bad budget and I have to say as a huge fan of W13, while it may have had a slight Warehouse 13 vibe, it was very different. I watched twice and picked up so much the second time around. I loved the movies and was really glad to see the characters in the movies on the show. Christian Kane was amazing, love seeing anything with him in it and this was no exception!
People are saying that the Librarians is a knock off of Warehouse 13 which is funny considering that the Librarian movies came out before Warehouse 13. I love both shows/movies regardless
I agree that Rebecca needs to take so fighting lessons from Christian Kane . I think her character was supposed to be stiff. I think she'll loosen up later. Love this show.
I have never been able to catch the Librarian movies but I loved the tv show! Wish that Bob Newhart and Jane Curtain were going to be in more of it....I can't wait for the next episodes where, I assume, that it will be more predominantly the "new" Librarians....love me some Christian Kane:) " My" only negative was so much of it was Flynn and Rebecca's characters. I understand that it was the "passing of the torch" and I would probably have felt differently if I had seen the movies. All in all, my new favorite show:)
Oh, and being from Oklahoma, the bucking bronco (or bull, can't remember which) hasn't been in any bar that I've been to in about 25 years:) But it was a nice shout-out to Christian's home state!
I was pretty excited about this show, but...Not too keen on the continuity and logic fails; a little more attention to detail at least in the pilot would be nice. EX; given that everybody at the end keeps saying Bob Newhart char is gone, WHILE various characters are actually talking to him, I'd like to have some better reason for that other than "it's in the plot". The antiterrorist char is awfully stiff and not well acted/written, there's literally no set up for the antagonisism / sudden kissyface thing between her and the librarian, just as there's no real explanation for the synesthete char's betrayal, inconsistent treatment by SB, or rewelcome to the fold, or for Kane's sometime refusal to be an art historian, etc. Doesn't bode well for a long running series.
I felt the same way honestly... I had seen the movies and while I recall them being low-budget I do not recall them being so badly written. Even in a magical world there needs to be some grounding force. Most of the magic in this was just childlike with little or no connection to reality... or even this show's version of reality.
Another example that irked me was Excalibur melting away as it did. It was a real sword before being embedded with magic and would likely remain a real sword after losing its magic. Maybe it would break or shatter in pieces on contact, but melt and vanish? Ugh.. No
Glad I was not the only one that thought that last kiss was so out of place.
Yes, I thought that too- the sword was made of metal, not magic (which still cuts, even when the magic goes away, so no grabbing by the blade and shoving it up against wounded bellies, for heaven's sake!) The fake pathos- with- dogwhimper was very poor too- not to mention that Excalibur's sheath had healing properties, which is another thing the librarian or Library would have known- along with the current location of relevant art, etc. *eyeroll* I think the show has potential, but I doubt most of the target audience has a superstructure capable of keeping such a weight of disbelief suspended for the duration the show seems to require.
I really love Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin as well as Noah Wyle and cannot see the new cast being able to carry the torch without guest appearences by them. That being said the sword melting was heart breaking and unrealistic. Christian Kane came off dorky(not sure even his large following could save this show). Hopefully Flynn will find the main library and lend a hand at the development of the characters and show.
I loved it just as much the fourth time I watched it as I did the first. That isnt surprising since Dean Devlin is great at what he does and Christian Kane was great as always. Everyone did a great job and I will be watching this Sunday as well.
The Librarians is a well written, smart, funny and action packed show. We definitely need more smart TV like this. Plus watching Christian Kane is awesome!
Noah Wyle's character seemed "unlike" himself, as compared to his portrayal of the character in the Librarian movies. Christian Kane's character seemed silly and a little unworthy of his acting skills. Rebecca Romijn's character is supposed to be a highly trained and skilled "fighter", yet her fight scenes were badly done and unrealistic, and she was very "stiff" in them. The whole point of the Librarian was to collect and protect the magical artifacts, yet Excalibur got "killed." I hated that on top of everything else. The Librarian(s) failed at every turn...unlike in the movies. Overall I was disappointed. I hope that future episodes come together better, and that the Librarian(s) might actually be able to succeed in their mission. Otherwise, what's the point?
From what i understand the sword was laying on the stone that released magic so basically it disappeared into the stone returning the magic. Truly must of not been the real Excalibur for if it was then it wouldn't disappear and return the magic unless the sword was forged out of magic which explains why it just melting back to the stone.
I totally loved the show and can't wait to watch next week! This Kaniac loved having Christian Kane back on TV! I did think the uncut versions gave me an improved perspective vs the TV versions.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I decided to re-watch it, and It was even better the second time round.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was going to be about the original librarian which was the only reason I watched now I don't know if I should continue since it looks like he isn't the main character
ReplyDeleteI love it, so much fun!
ReplyDeleteNoah Whyle is currently doing Falling Skies (also for TNT).
ReplyDeleteI think he might be promoted to regular if the show is renewed for a second season
awesome premiere, loved seeing Christian Kane back on tv and kicking butt
ReplyDeleteHe will be a main character in season 2. Confirmed somewhere (don't remember the source).
ReplyDeleteShould I wait until I see the third movie to watch this or does it matter? I caught up with the first two movies this week and I was gonna buy the third movie and watch it before starting the show, but I'm very intrigued.

ReplyDeleteJust as long as there's a second season. I want more!
ReplyDeleteI've only seen the first movie and that was ages ago. It's not a necessity at all; don't worry!
ReplyDeleteWell awesome beginning and i can't wait for more.

ReplyDeleteEven better than I anticipated!!! Definitely going to keep me hanging on for the next episodes!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI totally enjoyed it! Christian Kane brought his own magic to the show! Can't wait for more!
ReplyDeleteI totally loved #TheLibrarians last night! The whole cast was amazing, but my favorite was #ChristianKane! I will definently be watching every week!

ReplyDelete#TheLibrarians was off the chain I have fell in love it! Its the best show on tv currently.

ReplyDeleteIt was fabulous....Christian Kane is such a wonderful actor. He makes each role his own. The entire cast Rocked!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the films so I was flying blind here a little I must admit. My feeling is that if you can't make something look authentic on screen, it's probably best to choose a different subject. The crown jewel and the henge, for example, were ludicrous :s

ReplyDeleteThe original librarian Flynn is in it! He will be continuing as a frequent character through out the season from what I hear.
ReplyDeleteWhile the movies introduce you to the show the first episode that is 2 hours long gives a great set up for it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful show, the best to come out in a long time! I am looking forward to many more seasons!

ReplyDeletePeople forget. As The Doctor has said.
ReplyDeleteI loved the program, I will be watching faithfully this season!

ReplyDeleteNeeds more Doctor Who!

Noah helped to get the series going... he's doing some behind the scenes stuff.
ReplyDeleteI have watched 3 times already. Love it. See new things each time I see it. Can't wait for future episodes. Great seeing Christian Kane back on my TV.
