I don't think the show is strong enough to support 13 plus episodes per year.
Maybe another 6 episodes next year? And shown once per week.
If they make it a miniseries it needs to be shot like a miniseries. The beginning of episode 2-6 reminded you of the plot points like you have not seen the show for a week.
Well they got to Proxmia.. well one person did :) Kinda a one way ticket though :) At least they know they can breathe there.. and not explode like Total Recall
The shows plot was disjointed and difficult to follow. I enjoyed the show's relationships but something very important was missing from this show. The writers did not explain what was happening with Christa so I could not follow that plotline. Too much was happening with no explanation. And I did not understand the ending. This show needs better focus & writers. Ascension has great possibilities & I look forward to seeing it as a series.
Was the plan to turn this into another Big? What chances does it have? I actually liked it, I just wished there was more than one star child, the fact that the kid that played her hot on my nerves did not help...
I loved it. I thought it was different and very creative. Better than the vast majority of SyFy shows. I loved the complexity of the plot and the fact that it covered such a broach range genres: Advanced technology, Genetic engineering, Dystopian societies, government conspiracies, social Darwinism, paranormal phenomena and the usual relationship drama. I'm assuming that they were hoping to make it into a TV series, given the way it ended, but with the ratings, I wonder if it will still happen. Like most SyFy shows there are areas that could be improved. I'm still not sure how feel about the little girl with the Carrie-like powers and occasionally that plot can be difficult to follow if you're not paying attention. I would ignore the reviews and the people who are upset about it not being a real space movie and give it a chance. Furthermore, based on the ending, there is the possibility that a longer series would indeed be about space!
I wouldn't really call it a major cliffhanger. It ends with a lot of unresolved stories, which allow it to go in a number of directions. I can tell they were hoping it would be picked up by the SyFy network. The ending answers a lot of the important questions, but you'll be left wanting to know what happens to all of the major players. It looks like a lot of people had a different reaction to the ending. I wasn't frustrated by the ending...I just wanted to see a lot more and it definitely felt like a lot of stories were just getting started. I tend to check out all of the new SyFy shows and compared to most that I've checked out over the past year or two, this was one of my favorites.
Finished watching it. I was happy with it. I liked Christa, who from the beginning I saw as the hope character. Same with Gault, so I'm actually glad the way it ended at the end. Tho there is still things to be resolved, the main issue with murder and the reason for Ascension was resolved. The Crew of Ascension managed to sustain themselves good for them, but they still have some evil roots within them. I guess they can't ever go away.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
