Holy shit, this promo has me so pumped up for the new season!! The war between the Project Leda and Project Castor clones is heating up already. Should be very intense! April 18 needs to be here already :)
The problem is that the effects look terribly amateur. I'm surprised to see that people like it. People usually go rabid at the sight of poor editing effects and bad cgi. The effects here look like they were produced by a 12-year-old with no prior experience.
What does the period of time between airdate and teaser have to do with quality? If a bad movie trailer is released for an otherwise good film, people are still going to use the quality of the film as a punchline without even having seen it. Bad quality advertising is simply bad. The video effects displayed in this teaser a weak. It makes the show look bad.
I'm not looking for the most amazing teaser in the world, but I am at least looking for something that looks like it was professionally made.
Because they just started filming mid October and thus it's lucky to get a teaser at all. But I also think BBC/BBC America's advertising is more simple/on the cheap anyways. Orphan Black doesn't really look particularly cool either (not sure they spend a lot on production values??)...I think it is the cast, subject matter, and fun-crazy plot twists that make the show! Personally I'm just happy to see new footage, a press release, and some minor plot details....
Well it had everything to do with it, they haven't filmed much so they can't really include any of it in the teaser/promo since it would give away a lot. At least they put something out considering the other option would be to put out nothing.
I feel like you guys are misconstruing my point. I'm absolutely content with the actual contents of the teaser -- it tells us the main theme, it introduces us to our central characters, etc.
I am criticizing the editing of the video. That has nothing to do with what has been filmed at this point.
Even with low production costs, Orphan Black has consistently had impressive visual effects. That is, excluding this teaser, which looks like it was edited using a cell phone from 2006.
All I'm saying is that this teaser has very bad effects. If that doesn't bother you, that's fine. To me, it looks very lame -- it looks as if someone put two minutes of effort into it, and that disappoints me.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Holy shit... Yes, bring it!!!
ReplyDeleteJust 4 months to go (ugh 4 months!)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited!!! I have missed Clone Club.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Hurry April can't wait
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to rejoin the Clone Club. This will be the season that gets Tatiana ALL the awards she so rightly deserves, I can feel it!
ReplyDeleteThe chills, I have them! I can't wait for the third season!
ReplyDeleteSweet! Cool that we have a teaser, press release, and a promotional image already! April can't come soon enough! (That Rudy clone looks so EVIL!!)

ReplyDeleteGood promo. Rudy already creeps me out.

Really?
If Orphan Black can make a simple cost-effective promo that people like, and judging from the comments they do, then what exactly is the problem here?
ReplyDeleteAgreed, I don't see the issue here. The show is still approximately 4 months away... Expecting something spectacular is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteWhat does Helena say? Anyone know?
ReplyDeleteI am eager to see the first meeting of Charlotte and her aunt Kira. Two sweet weird kids.

ReplyDeleteI've come to expect better from this show.

If it gets people excited for the show then it did its job. As long as they don't skimp on the episodes themselves this is a non-issue.
