Marvel and Netflix are proud to announce that Mike Colter will star as Luke Cage in "Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones," an all-new 13-episode series premiering on Netflix in 2015 following "Marvel's Daredevil."
During the course of an investigation in New York City, private investigator Jessica Jones encounters the enigmatic Luke Cage – a man whose past has secrets that will dramatically alter Jessica in ways she could never have imagined.
Colter will star opposite Krysten Ritter, who plays the title role in “Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones.”
“Mike embodies the strength, edge and depth of Luke Cage,” said Executive Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg. “We're excited to have him bring this iconic Marvel character to life.”
"Fans have longed to see Luke Cage brought and in Mike we’ve found the perfect actor,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Marvel's Head of Television. "Viewers will get to meet Luke Cage in ‘Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones,’ and experience why he is such an important super hero in the Marvel mythos.”
Colter is currently starring in the PlayStation Network’s original series “Halo: Nightfall” as Jameson Locke. He has appeared in a number of critically-acclaimed television series, including “The Good Wife” and “American Horror Story: Coven.”
After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.
"Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones" is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

Damn, he's really attractive and I am here for this.
ReplyDeleteThe title is irrationally bothering me so please change it.
One is so not ready for these shows. They are going to be so good.
ReplyDeleteHell yeah! Such great casting. I seriously can't wait for these new Marvel shows on Netflix. They're all going to be epic.
ReplyDeleteWhy? The AKA is letting us know that Jessica goes by different aliases (Jewel, Knightress, Power Woman). Really don't see the problem with that.
ReplyDeleteOh, that makes sense! LOL, I don't know that much about Jessica Jones (big fan of the MCU but don't read the comics) and it sounded like a temporary title until they could figure out what to call it.
ReplyDeleteSolid casting!
ReplyDeleteBut while I know most people think of him from "The Good Wife", he will always be good twin Bridget's AA sponsor on "Ringer" to me lol.
Then I highly recommend the Jessica Jones comics the show will be based off of, "Alias". It's a little different from your usual Marvel comics (way more mature) but it's so freaking good.
ReplyDeleteLoved him on Ringer and he is great on TGW. Looking forward to see him
ReplyDeleteExcellent casting, Terry Crews was on a lot of people's list due to his interest in the role and sheer size but with his commitment to B99 that wasn't going to happen but I'm happy with Mike, he is terrific in The Good Wife. I look forward to him showing up in AKA Jessica Jones and then his solo series.
ReplyDeleteReally good choice. He's great in The Good Wife. Glad to see him getting solid roles.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the press release is going to change to say that "Halo: Nightfall" is an Xbox series, not a Playstation series... :P
ReplyDeleteBut otherwise, I like the choice! I'm still a little annoyed with the Jessica Jones casting, but I'm excited for the series as a whole! Can't wait!
What is this show about I know about this one? Does it follow a comic?
ReplyDeleteIn the comics Jessica was a superhero but she was kidnapped and completely messed up by the event so quit being a superhero and became a P.I, helping others and getting involved with Luke Cage. Seems like show will be semi based on the Alias comic book written by Brian Michael Bendis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alias_%28comics%29
ReplyDeleteThat sounds pretty cool looking foward to watching it.
ReplyDeleteGlad that their gonna connect the Netflix shows before the defenders mini series
ReplyDeletei thought Cage got his own series?
ReplyDeleteAnd they couldn't call it Alias because there was another show called that .And there was a show called Alias Smith & Jones .No point in confusing people with clashing titles.
ReplyDeleteSo AKA (also known as) Jessica Jones it is .
Just to point out as well there is also going to be a Luke Cage series as well as him being on AKA JJ .
Yea, that is correct. The show will be based on the comic 'Alias' but they couldn't use that name (because of the similairly titled show) so they chose AKA Jessica Jones instead.
ReplyDeleteI like it. It's sort of similair to Alias but still different by incorporating the main character's name. :)
That was him?! Awesome, I loved that show when it aired but I didn't realise it was the same guy :D
ReplyDeleteHe's going to get his own show (after Iron Fist and before The Defenders) but since he's also Jessica Jones' love interest he's going to have a recurring role in her show. I am pretty sure she'll also show up in his show.
ReplyDeleteI remeber that, when the show was still in development at ABC, Carol Danvers (Captain/Ms Marvel) was also supposed to be a main character in the show. She and Luke Cage were in the pilot script
ReplyDeleteIn the comic 'Alias' on which this show is based, Carol Danvers was one of Jessica's best friends if I remember correctly. However, now that Carol is getting her own movie, I wonder if she'll still appear?
Or will they replace her with another superheroine?
THX Netflix for the next batch of Marvel shows, This guy is good for Luke Cage. Then he is going to be in his show after also right. I'm especially looking forward to Daredevil
