IN THE FLESH FANSITE LAUNCHES FROM
THE MAKERS OF SHERLOCKOLOGY
In response to the huge worldwide fan phenomenon for BBC’s In The Flesh, the team behindthe award winning Sherlock website Sherlockology.com are launching a new sister fansite
dedicated exclusively to the BBC Three zombie series.
InTheFleshdom.com will feature all the same behind the scenes series information Sherlockology.com is known for, such as filming locations, details on costume and set design, along with exclusive interviews with the cast and crew.
In The Flesh, which won the Best Mini Series BAFTA in May 2014, experienced a huge uprising of fans after the second series was broadcast on BBC Three and BBC America during the spring of this year. After the finale left them with a cliffhanger regarding the fate of one of the major characters in the show, fans of the series from all over the world took to social media to request the BBC #SaveInTheFlesh. In addition to this, tens of thousands of fans signed an online petition for a third series to be commissioned, as well as sending direct messages via the BBC’s contact page expressing their desire to see a third series.
The team behind the fan run Sherlockology.com, two-time award winners of the international social media Shorty Awards for best fansite, will support In The Flesh, those who create it, and their fans who call themselves ‘The Redeemed’, through not only the site itself but by multiple social media platforms.
“We’re very excited to be working on a new site and have been looking for the right project for some time now. Sherlock is an exceptional series and we knew if we were ever to do another site, it would have to be for something that was just as extraordinary. In The Flesh is just such a series and ground breaking in so many ways. It deserves its own fansite, as does the hugely dedicated In The Flesh fandom. That’s why we named the site ‘In The Fleshdom’ – along with a nod to the series creator who happens to be named ‘Dom’.”
Series creator Dominic Mitchell, who won the Best Writer BAFTA this year for In The Flesh, commented on the launch, “I’m absolutely over joyed that In The Flesh is getting it’s own fansite which will be run by the same fantastic folks behind the phenomenon that is Sherlockology.com. It’s what the wonderful In The Flesh fan base deserves.”
In The Fleshdom’s social media accounts are already live and sharing unique content, including exclusive interviews with the cast and crew of In The Flesh. The accounts can be accessed on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Tumblr.

This is one on my favourite shows, it really does deserve a third season. It's currently beating Sherlock in the final of the Best Show of the Year poll over on the RT site, which is no mean feat at all. I can only assume that it's down to the recent uncertainty to what was happening to BBC Three that S3 hasn't been greenlit so far, it's been hugely successful. It's a bit baffling as to why it hasn't been snapped up already tbh.
ReplyDeleteis that show even cancelled? All I know is that BBC3 went online-only
ReplyDeleteNot officially cancelled but the last episode aired 6 months ago and the BBC haven't said anything about it being picked up which is not a good sign.
ReplyDeleteSeriously BBC save this show, now that Being Human has ended and The Fades only got one season we need In The Flesh to fly the flag for British supernatural shows.
ReplyDeleteisn't the BBC usually taking rather long breaks for some of its shows? But I agree it kinda sounds like a cancellation.
ReplyDeleteGood that In the Flesh doesen't look like an expensive show and since they want to establish BBC3 as a online network the fandoms push could help
British tv channels are known for just shutting up and not renewing their shows or renewing them really late.
ReplyDeleteIm still waiting for my mad fat diary renewal .I really hope in the flesh gets another season that ending needs an ending lol okay totally serious , love the show.
Well, my mad fat diary got renewed some time last week (can't remember the day) so fingers crossed for in the flesh!
