Michael Pitt will no longer be hearing the squealing of the pigs when Hannibal returns for Season 3. The actor, who played sociopathic meat-packing magnate Mason Verger in Season 2, is not returning to the series and will be replaced by Joe Anderson.

Well that sucks. :/
ReplyDeleteWonder if its just because of Michael Pitt's availability or if its something more (read various rumours over the years that he can be a bit difficult to work with). Hopefully the new guy will be just as creepy.
ReplyDeleteDamn it!!
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOO!!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't like this, but well at least, with him being deformed and all I think we won't notice :P
ReplyDeleteI've heard it was because of his availability, but just could be the cover story.
ReplyDeleteIs Katharine Isabelle returning?
ReplyDeleteDisappointing…but willing to give him a chance. Besides, maybe we won't notice the change that much since Mason is disfigured now.
ReplyDeleteDisappointing, but hopefully the new guy will just be as good.
ReplyDeleteEhh, it makes sense. Mason's face is all screwed up anyways.
ReplyDeleteStill, Pitt would've been a glorious Joker.
Do not know why this is happening but it is not good news.
ReplyDeleteBut Michael Pitt was so discustingly perfect in the role... why would they do that?
ReplyDeleteYa, now that it is happening again, it seems less and less of a coincidence...
ReplyDeleteBummer. He was great Mason. As others have said, it seems like he has some issues. He's such a good actor. It's such a shame...
ReplyDeleteThat is such a disappointing news.He was perfect for this role!Oh,well, let's see what this new one can pull off!I'm trusting The show's creatives on this!
ReplyDeleteYes she confirmed her return on twitter for the second half of the season.
ReplyDeleteUnless they're doing flashbacks we won't even be able to recognize him. Seeing that this is an expensive show, and it's not getting the amount of viewers it deserves, I guess they figured that keeping on an actor like Pitt and not being able to show his face was a bit of an unnecessary expense.
ReplyDeleteOn the role, I was actually hoping that the Vergers were gonna sit out season 3. They should focus on the manhunt and Red Dragon. The Vergers should be mentioned an only make a short guest appearance at most.
Perhaps this is even the case and maybe this is why Pitt won't play the part next season. He could return in a 5th season when the show catches up to the events of Hannibal (the book).
