Grimm – The Grimm Who Stole Christmas – Review

Dec 6, 2014

It’s Christmas time in Grimm. Monroe tests his little holiday railways with Rosalee and she even gets a special invite for a late Honeymoon with his newly husband – finally, give them some rest! Unfortunately, there’s no rest for a Grimm when Nick and Hank investigate on a bizarre string of home invasion. Meanwhile, Josh gets to know the Grimm’s world but he doesn’t know what he’s going to happen when he gets involved in some Trubel’s stuff. She has to check on a Wesen who may be the responsible behind Monroe and Rosalee’s attack.

Sean Renard and Nick have the strangest conversation ever talking about their respective mothers. “I don’t want my mother to kill your mother”, yeah, because Elizabeth knows that Kelly Burkhart has Diana, and she’s looking for them. We know that Nick’s mom won’t give the child away so easy.

Also, Nick has to handle Wu’s suspicions over the strange creatures who are ruining Christmas in Portland, since you don’t need to be a Grimm to see those strange Grinch. But watch out: Wu is getting closer to learn the truth about the Grimm’s world! Nick, Hank and Monroe find out that those creatures are called Kallikantzaroi, which is a rare transformation of some Wesen.

Also Kallikantzaroi come to visit Rosalee and Monroe’s house when she and Juliette are stuck in there defending the train Monroe built! Then, Juliette feels some nausea and Rosalee suggests she may be pregnant, but what scares her most if: what is she got pregnant while she was Adalind? – by the way, where’s she? Planning something bad with Viktor in Vienna? I hope Juliette’s not pregnant. Last thing we need right now is another drama.

Nick and Hank reach the three Kallikantzaroi’s parents and learn that the only way to catch them is to create a trap with some fruitcakes so that the children can come back to their normal aspect and look like “innocent” – to quote Rosalee.

Last scene was really sweet: Trubel says goodbye to Nick, telling she’s going with Josh to help him to handle with his Grimm’s powers in the same way Nick did with her. Also, Nick gives them Aunt Marie’s old car so they can easily reach back to Philly. “Nick, you gave me my life!” Thanks to Nick, Trubel has started feel normal, surrounded by friends and being welcomed as part of a great family. Nick has done more that what she could have ever imagined. Speaking of family, that look in Juliette’s face after she did that pregnancy test doesn’t look good indeed...

Do you think Juliette is pregnant? How much you’re excited about Wu finally learn the truth about Nick? Are you gonna miss Trubel?

  1. Thanks for the recap , Diana -- it was such a fun episode. Great fun defending the train and debating whose mother was the more dangerous. Josh isn't a Grimm right now but he still might become one . Hope Trubel is back soon to stay. Did not miss Adalind one teensy bit but eventually would love to see the two hexenbeists - Adalind and Renard's mother - square off. Looks like Wu might learn the truth next week.

  2. It was one of the more solid episodes of this season so far but that isn't saying much. This is easily the weakest of the seasons so far and something just feels completely off. Can't quite put my finger on it. I think it's missing some of the darkness and mystery of the older seasons.

That being said, it wasn't a horrible episode. Not interested in the Juliette/baby storyline. Can't we be done with such terrible tropes and storylines? PLEASE!

As for Josh and Trubel leaving, eh I don't really care. Probably for the better to be honest. I think I liked it more when there were a few less characters anyways.

  3. I really liked it. It was light and happy. That the monsters of the week actually were kids with parents who loved them just sweetened the episode. Yes, Juliette is pregnant. She would have looked relieved if she were not, and she definitely looked worried. Will Wu learn the truth? It looks like that's in store for next week, and it seems like it's going to be done the way I've wanted it to. Nick will tell him face to face. Hope that's how it happens. Will I miss Trubel and Josh? Yes. Both very likable. The only thing that bothered me about the episode was when Trubel told Nick she was feeling so emotional about leaving that she couldn't say goodbye to Juliette. People not being open is getting to be a pattern.

  4. no i took it as more of Truble seeing Juliette as a mother figure that if she went to say goodbye to Juliette she wouldn't have been able to leave

  5. Thanks for reading :) I'm looking forward to watch next week's episode - Wu's learning the truth, Adalind coming back and also I'd like to see - in the future maybe - Elizabeth vs Kelly.

  6. I agree with the Juliette's baby storyline. We've already had another baby to care of - Adalind's - and this would only create such a mess in the show I think.

  11. Everyone has a different cup of tea, I suppose, because I differ from your viewpoint and have enjoyed this season the most so far -- so many great moments between the cast ensemble. I am really enjoying the group interaction.
