Monday 12/15/14
NBC: 6.6/10
CBS: 6.0/ 9
ABC: 3.2/ 5
Fox: 2.2/ 3
CW: 0.9/ 1
Percent Change From the Comparable Year-ago Week
ABC and CBS: +28 each, CW: +12, NBC: – 8, Fox: -21
———-
-Winners:
“The Voice” (NBC), “Scorpion” (CBS), “NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS)
-Losers:
“State of Affairs” (NBC)
———-
Ratings Breakdown:
NBC opened the week on a winning overnight note, with a 7.9 rating/12 share in households for “The Voice” its top Monday performance in six weeks. But recent drama entry “State of Affairs,” which will be replaced in midseason by sophomore medical drama “The Night Shift,” slipped to a distant second at 10 p.m. with a 4.0/ 7. Comparably, retention for “State of Affairs” out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” (7.7/12) was only 51 percent. Nice try, Katherine Heigl, but no dice.
CBS had what you would call a consistent Monday with its combination of “2 Broke Girls” (#2: 5.8/ 8 at 8 p.m.), recent returnee “Mike & Molly” (#2: 4.9/ 7 at 8:30 p.m.), freshman drama “Scorpion” (#2: 6.7/10 at 9 p.m.) and “NCIS: Los Angeles” (#1: 6.1/11 at 10 p.m.), which has put the Eye net on the competitive Monday 10 p.m. map again. While “Mike & Molly” is an improvement from recent entry “The Millers,” it is not necessarily the powerhouse CBS was hoping.
ABC lost steam, unfortunately, care of holiday competition “The Great Christmas Night Flight,” which at a 3.4/ 5 from 8-10 p.m. was 23 percent below the 4.4/ 7 for the season-opener one week earlier. And it led into a repeat of “Castle” at a third-place 2.9/ 5.
Elsewhere, Fox could not compete with two-hour special “The American Country Awards” at a mere 2.2/ 3 from 8-10 in the overnights. And, the fourth season premiere of “Hart of Dixie” on The CW, which is moving to Friday in three weeks, opened with a modest 1.0/ 2 at 8 p.m. (#5) into a typical 0.9/ 1 at 9 p.m. (#5) for Golden Globe Award nominee “Jane the Virgin.”

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above (We also where possible now post the 18-34 and 25-54 Demo Numbers).
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
If you’re interested in Ratings/Renewals/Cancellations then we have a number of resources here at SpoilerTV that we recommend you check out.
I want to see JTV numbers.
ReplyDeleteHopefully now that they have HoD and JtV ratings The CW can hurry up and release their midseason schedule!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I'm so anxious for today's numbers....
ReplyDeleteLooks like Jane and Dixie did well together. Do you think they will pair them together on Friday? They fit great together
ReplyDeleteI don't think it would be a bad idea but there really isn't a lot of room for them to do that this year.
ReplyDeleteHart of Dixie will premiere early in January on Fridays and only has 10 episodes this year (9 now that it has aired one on Mondays). For the first 4 of those 10 episodes, it will have Masters of Illusion+Whose Line (R) as lead-in, as previously announced by the CW. That should cover January essentially. In February and early March, they could indeed move the Virgin to 8pm Fridays and allow it to lead into Dixie at 9pm but they couldn't do that for more than 6 weeks IMO as by then Dixie will have run out of episodes. But still, it's possible they do that for February Sweeps.
Hi, please do you have number for Reign from last week? i hope it was above 0.50
ReplyDeleteYeah it was a season high, 0.52 ;)
ReplyDeleteThey are repeating the First episode on the 9th. So it will still air on 10 fridays.
ReplyDeleteAmazing ! Thanks
ReplyDeleteGood Top25s for the CW. This year will be a tight race. Last year was quite obvious but this will be an interesting race. But I believe CW will shock us and renew JTV in Feb with VD Arrow Flash and SPN.
ReplyDeleteYep I am aware, hence why I've said that 4 episodes will air after MOI (3 originals + 1 repeat), hence the 6 episodes left to air after the virgin if they indeed move it to Fridays at 8pm.
ReplyDeleteNo problem
ReplyDeleteWe thought it was obvious last year, but somehow BaTB made it haha.
ReplyDelete"Hart of Dixie will premiere early in January on Fridays and only has 10
ReplyDeleteepisodes this year (9 now that it has aired one on Mondays)"
That part through me off. Apologies.
No worries at all ;)
ReplyDeleteNo they're not.Jan 9 is 4.02 according to FutonCritic
ReplyDeleteaccording to leila gerstein, They will re-air 4.01 on the 9th. 4.02 will air on the 16th.
ReplyDeleteI hope we can get mid-season schedule today.
ReplyDeleteAt firts i was really hoping Reign would not be sent to fridays but it might be good right? If it was able to stay 0.4-0.5 on Fridays, it would be pretty good.
Yikes at State of Affairs, so unpopular in the top 25.
ReplyDeleteHoping for a 0.6 for Jane.
The FutonCritic often doesn't have the most recent updates especially when networks themselves change their minds as was the case here.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/leilargerstein/status/541000773492948992
ReplyDeleteAny monday night football preemptions?
ReplyDeleteAny idea why the households haven't been released today?
ReplyDeleteTrue, but BatB is is special case.
ReplyDeleteYay for Scorpion being steady or maybe improved from last week (based on top 25) - last night's ep was so good!
ReplyDeleteI'd include an early renewal for The Originals.
ReplyDeleteSo the Voice is up half a rating point and State of Affairs is down 2 tenths lol.
ReplyDeleteThis is the highest the Voice has been in the top 25 on last last 2 weeks and State of Affairs hit another low.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the overnights were low for the virgin and Mark couldn't find a way to spin her performance? (I am joking, the virgin actually seems to have done well based on the top 25 markets)
ReplyDeleteState of Affairs did a 1,3 in TOP 25 last week but ended with a 1.6
ReplyDeleteNo one said anything about M&M being a powerhouse.
ReplyDeleteHart of Dixie 0.4, Jane The Virgin 0.6
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean? It's even in the top 25 markets from last week.
ReplyDeleteI must say, that 0.6 is very impressive for Jane The Virgen
ReplyDeleteFull ratings posted.
ReplyDeleteSo judging by the mid season finales, both Jane and Reign want to fight for that renewal spots. I am curious to see numbers for The 100
ReplyDeletewoah at that 0.4 for HOD, I was expecting lower numbers.
ReplyDeleteIn fact...it now looks even more likely for JtV and HoD being renewed and put into a block next season
Which show will get cancelled then?Everyone cannot get renewed!
ReplyDeleteLook at HoDs numbers, they're actually pretty solid for that show. IMO all three of them are fighting for it right now (keep in mind that HoD actually is fit for syndication due to issue-of-the-week episodes).
ReplyDeleteI could imagine next season having HoD/JtV in a block
Scorpion has a higher top 25 market rating compared last week but has a lower 18-49 ratings.
ReplyDeleteABC ratings inflated by NFL Monday Night Football pre-emption
ReplyDeletein Chicago. NBC inflated by NFL pre-emption in New Orleans. In both
markets, the 8-10 pm programs were moved to late night so they will not
go down as much in the official nationals as will the 10 pm programs,
which were not scheduled to air in the affected markets.
While “Mike & Molly” is an improvement from recent entry “The Millers,” it is not necessarily the powerhouse CBS was hoping.
ReplyDeleteIf Jane and Reign are fighting for the renewal, here are the pros and cons of each.
ReplyDeleteJane's Pros:
-Golden Globe nomination.
-Grew from its lead in to a season high.
Jane Cons:
-Episode count
Reign Pros:
-Episode Count.
-Sometimes it gets the same ratings as Jane.
Reings Cons:
-That 0.3 that one time: very, very ugly.
Good for JtV!That renewal seems more likely now with each passing week!
ReplyDeleteHalves anyone?
ReplyDelete- The CW had a very good night. HoD is looking as good as they could have expected and Jane got a very nice bump. I personally don't like the news since I am a big fan of the CW's other bubble shows but the CW should be happy.
ReplyDelete- CBS had a decent night as well going up against the voice finale. 2 Broke Girls is hanging nicely in the low 2s level and Scorpion is also solid, though I was hoping for a tad higher even. LA looks solid at 10pm, I am not sure they could have expected much better.
- The Voice got a bump so NBC had a decent night. State of Affairs is a spot called "this would be renewal in a slot not after the voice, this will get cancelled after the voice". So it depends on how it holds after the apprentice, but chance of a good hold are very slim I think.
- The Great Christmas Light Fight came back to earth after last week's big numbers but it's still looking like very solid holiday filler. Castle repeated very well.
Jane benefited from GG hype and the fact that there is nothing else on tv right now. It will definitely go down when it comes back. so it's definitely a race between Jane and Reign for cancellation.
ReplyDelete44 episodes, what do they have from that number? Not really much since they're not even close to 88
ReplyDeleteIf it's between Jane and Reign, Jane will get the renewal because of all the critical acclaim and award nominations.
ReplyDeleteThat 0.3 has been overblown out of proportion. It was a 0.35 so it was a matter of the third decimal adjustment only that got it to a 0.3 in finals. In practical terms it really is no different than say a 0.37, which the Virgin has gotten already too.
ReplyDeleteGreat for Jane!
ReplyDeleteReign/Messengers/BatB
ReplyDeleteBy the way, and although I still maintain they are in different fights, there is still the 100 to consider as a possible cancellation.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch the virgin and I am rooting against it since I love Reign, but the Virgin was going up against the voice finale, not to mention one of CBS's highest rated dramas, hardly nothing.
ReplyDeleteAh sorry I hadn't read the analysis yet.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't bet on Batb, that show has none lives!
ReplyDeleteOnly one episode of HOD has aired, it's way too early to tell. It will be on Friday night so I expect the ratings will go down.
ReplyDeleteThat retention is awful for SofA
ReplyDeleteMore than anything it is because of the BatB situation last spring; rating wise, TTP deserved the renewal over it, but having an extra season helped its chances of renewal. That's why Reign is not out of the game. Otherwise the chances would be: The 100, Jane, Reign in that order
ReplyDelete1.THE VOICE(MON) 2.9(+0.4)
ReplyDelete2.2 BROKE GIRLS 2.1(+0.1)
3.SCORPION 2.0(-0.1)
4.MIKE AND MOLLY 1.8(-0.1)
5.NCIS:LA 1.6(=)
5.STATE OF AFFAIRS 1.6(=)
7.THE GREAT CHRISTMAS LIGHT FIGHT 1.5(-0.2)
8.CASTLE(R) 1.1
9.AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS 0.9
10.JANE THE VIRGIN 0.6(+0.1)
11.HART OF DIXIE 0.4
1.THE VOICE(MON) 12.17(+1.33)
2.SCORPION 9.89(-0.11)
3.NCIS:LA 9.45(+0.72)
4.MIKE AND MOLLY 7.87(-0.19)
5.2 BROKE GIRLS 7.83(+0.11)
6.STATE OF AFFAIRS 6.49(+0.19)
7.CASTLE(R) 5.19
8.THE GREAT CHRISTMAS LIGHT FIGHT 6.00(-0.83)
9.AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS 3.39
10.JANE THE VIRGIN 1.27(+0.05)
11.HART OF DIXIE 1.20
We should wait for numbers for The 100. It proved to be lead in independent, i know, but if it falls to 0.5 this week, it will still compete against Reign/Jane, i think
ReplyDeleteBeauty and the Beast shouldn't even be considered in the discussion I think. That show will probably air mostly in the summer anyway, I don't think it's in the same boat as the others (as in, it's not fighting with the others for renewal or cancellation)
ReplyDeleteThat's a big rebound for Jane... Golden Globe effect?
ReplyDeleteBad news for State of Affairs then
ReplyDeleteState of affairs is pretty steady
ReplyDeleteYeah, but it will most likely will be battling either iZombie or The Messengers, either one that takes its timeslot on Wednesday. Tomorrow's ratings will also be key since we'll see how it does this season without Arrow (should do fine, just like it did last season)
ReplyDeleteYea everyone Keeps assuming HOD is ending because of lower ep count, but I think we may just see a season 5. I wouldn't be sad if it ended, but....
ReplyDeleteNew series low hopefully.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if Jane will get an early renewal-On Thursday Pedowitz admitted its ratings aren't where CW wants them and was cagey on saying if he would renew Jane early
ReplyDeleteI think most people have also assumed HoD was done after this season because the cast members made it seem like they were done filming the show for good. I won't believe it's done until The CW confirms it, which they haven't done yet that I know of.
ReplyDeleteI was not aware of that. Do you have a link for that? I am always interested in reading those things.
ReplyDeleteYep. Don't think it will stay though.
ReplyDeleteNo way Jane gets canceled...so its pretty much already been renewed
ReplyDeleteBatBwasnt renewed over TTP due to just having an extra season, but also cause TtP was exspensive, steadily declined in ratings all season and had poor retention out of Arrow while BatB is cheap and had better retention out of it slow rated leadin,
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to post link, but go to Tvbythenumbers Czw cancel/renewal index for last week and look for a post by Doc Holday saying what Pedowitz said.Ill try to rewrite here for you,
ReplyDeleteJane popped an 0.6..Amazed..I thought 0.5 was their limit
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! I will go looking!
ReplyDeleteI tought that 1.1 for a Castle rerun was a bit high, so it being preempted makes sense...
ReplyDeleteI don't think they move Jane off Mondays and HOD wont be on Mondays...But maybe they will move em both to Friday..who knows
ReplyDeleteThose GG nominations pretty much renewed Jane
ReplyDeletedon't turn into Brandy 2.0 :P
ReplyDelete100 Pros:
- hasn't fallen beneath a 0.5 yet + 0,54 average
100 Cons:
- mere 29 episodes after season 2
Reign Pros:
- 44 episode count after season 2
Reign Cons:
- hasn't gone above a 0.5 yet + a 0.42 season average
Jane the Virgin Pros:
- Golden Globe Nomination, wich is a first for theCW
Jane the Virgin Cons:
- 0,46 average
- 22 episodes after this season
Hart of Dixie Pros:
- will have 76 episodes after season 4, needs only 12 episodes to make it to 88
Hart of Dixie Cons:
- a generally poor performer with a 0.51 series average (I'm going on the entire series due to only having one ep to go on for season 4)
Beauty and the Beast Pros:
- /
Beauty and the Beast Cons:
- a terrible performer with a 0.45 series average
- reaches mere 55+ episodes after this season still creating a huge rift between the needed ammount of episodes
The Originals Pros:
- hasn't fallen beneath a 0.5 yet + 0,63 season average
The Originals Cons:
- 44 episodes after this season
renewal odds:
Reign - 100 are basically tied, with the latter performing better but the other having a higher episode count. Impossible to tell wich one will get the renewal.
Hart of Dixie, I don't even watch this show but look at the odds, it's a perfect show to put on as airtime filler early in the morning and is close to a respectable ammount of 88+ episodes.
Beauty and the Beast is toast, given it's current status it needs a ratings rise to warrant another season
Jane is out of contest for me, it's such a unique situation for a CW show that it's nearly impossible to tell what they'll decide to do. Cancel the first CW show that spawned a respectable Golden Globe nod? Sounds like a bad decision
The Originals is pretty safe right now but if something needs to fall in favor of Reign/Jane/100 it'll be the original vampires
so my guesses:
renewed: Jane the Virgin, The Originals, Hart of Dixie
cancelled: Reign, Beauty and the Beast, The 100
(I'm excluding the possibility of a shortened season renewal there, 100/Reign could get that possibility)
Here are the 1/2 breakdowns

More like fall finale effect.
ReplyDeleteI think both Jane & Reign get renewed and one or two at most of HoD,BatB,The 100,Messengers,IZombie get renewed
ReplyDeleteThe 100 is the lowest WB show outside of Hart of Dixie, which is seemingly penciled in for cancellation already. Unless their development is just awful and iZombie bites the dust pretty quickly, it's very much in danger right now.
ReplyDeleteWhat are these numbers @Steven
ReplyDeleteNot just cause of the shorter season but it's ratngs were horrible last season and CW can syndicate it with 76 episodes, like they did Nikita and CW has The 100 doing ok,Flash is a big hit, there's less need to renew as many low rated bubble shows. But anythings possible.
ReplyDeleteIf it wilts enough in the spring, renewal might be close. But the show has been such a pet for The CW that I think they'll renew before any spring drops can occur.
ReplyDeleteThey both could be renewed if both Midseason shows flop
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think Hart of Dixie, The Messengers, and one of Jane the Virgin and Reign are done. And I think The 100 is in more danger than people think.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean about Brandy?
ReplyDelete"If you love the Blacklist you'll love State of Affairs" - NBC promo
ReplyDeletewell...looks like Blacklist isn't that beloved after all :P
I would wait to see how it'll prove during spring, TTP was good a long time butbdropped hard. So we'll see how but it is in a good place..
ReplyDeleteComparing from last week to this week
ReplyDeleteHe means"don't anyone think Reign ( which he hates) will be renewed&
ReplyDeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteit's more like: don't sugarcoat stuff you love and defend at any cost.
ReplyDeleteI want batb to be renewed cause iblove it. I understand chances are slim though. Messengers has not even aired yet so we can't really tell. Reign is not my cup of tea but I don't think at this stage it has fewer chances than the 100
ReplyDeleteJane doing 0.6 is pretty good! and nice at HoD i dont watch the show but a 0.6 is good for CW.
ReplyDeleteIf Reign and Jane are both renewed, i will be very happy. Easily my two favorites on CW right now. But The 100 is 3rd so it would be sad too and iZombie is my most anticipated show of 2014/2015 season. Either way i will be disappointed
ReplyDeleteWell, still an early renewal is reserved for well performing shows. However I'd say that the GG nod is helping it's odds.
ReplyDeleteHowever it`d false to assume that the show will be canned due to the modest ratings. Simply because quite a few other shows are performing worse
Not much wore, take out its two 0.6(& that's if this one holds)& it's on par with Reign as the lowest rated show and 0.4-0.6& once under a million Viewrs -episodes six-isn't good especially for a freshman show.Only BatB mHoD will Likley do worse overall than Jane.Batab won't evrnnlikley air til summer.Thersca lot of shows doing better than Jane too-The 109,Flash,Arrow,SpN,VD,TO,I can see Jane being renewed but I can also see it being canned if it's ratings fall in spring.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but Kane got them something they didn't have in years: Critics Award Recognition. I don't think they will let it go. Pretty sure it will get second season!
ReplyDeleteWeren't you the one that said that this was the show that would hold on to high 1's after premiering on a high 2?
ReplyDeleteI really don't think the EP of HoD wants another season, Seson 3 was kind of a filler and it didn't work it out, so they emptying all their munition on this season, so they can go out with a bang. And because they're going full force head, I am ok with letting it go.
ReplyDeleteI don't "cherry pick parts of new",nor "sugarcoat and defend what I live at any cost".Ive never said any personal preference or option of Reign.I just look at episode count, ratings,Retrntion,DVr numbers,CW patter of renewls/cancellations,
ReplyDeleteClassic force-feeding NBC.
ReplyDeleteIf you love The Office, you'll love Whitney.
Sight unseen
ReplyDeleteWell, they renewed BatB for less, so, It's a shoe in to be honestly. And, if they sell it nice for America Latina Market, It will thrive.
ReplyDeleteBatB was sold for three seasons internationally and wasn't as 0.4, under a million Viewrs in season one either
ReplyDeleteOh ok,thanks
ReplyDeleteOh.thanks
ReplyDeleteScorpion did worse than its top 25. I know it's not in danger or anything, but I'm sad the numbers dropped so much from the premiere. I really wonder why LA does not benefit from Castle's absence. It's not like State of Affairs is a big competitor, at least not as big aa The Blacklist.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't wanna root against any show, but I really hope that 0.6 for Jane the Virgin doesn't influence The 100's renewal chances. The odds are not working in its favor: its rating are so-so while it has a big lead-in, there is critical acclaim but sadly no awards unlike JtV, and the network doesn't seem to support/like the show very much unlike Reign, which has full support from Mark Pedowitz. Sigh, I hope for not another BatB/TTP situation like last year but I am afraid for it.
was SOA in the top 25? Still trying to understand these numbers and charts.
ReplyDeleteWelcome.Sorry I made you have to go look since I don't know how to copy/paste/post links,
