CBS ANNOUNCES MARCH PREMIERE DATES FOR NEW DRAMAS “BATTLE CREEK” AND “CSI: CYBER”

MContinuing to provide more original programming year-round, CBS announced today March premiere dates for two new dramas, BATTLE CREEK and CSI: CYBER.
BATTLE CREEK, from Emmy Award winners David Shore (“House”) and Vince Gilligan (“Breaking Bad”), will premiere Sunday, March 1 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT), two weeks following CSI's season finale in the time period. The series stars Josh Duhamel and Dean Winters as two mismatched law enforcement officers whose polar opposite views of the world and crime-solving breed frustration, disdain and humor as they clean up the hardscrabble streets of Battle Creek, Mich.
CSI: CYBER, the next generation in the successful global CSI franchise, starring Emmy Award winner Patricia Arquette as the head of the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI, premieres Wednesday, March 4 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT). Freshman drama STALKER, which has won its time period every week against regularly scheduled competition, will return to the schedule later this season.

Why Cbs why? Why did they switch Cyber to Wednesday??? I don't have time to watch shows over the week anymore.
ReplyDeleteThis is so weird. They should have kept Cyber at Sundays and have Battle Creek on Wednesdays instead. But apparently CBS is more keen on having Cyber succeed because it comes from a well-known franchise. It's likely they will keep at least one CSI show around for the next season. Battle Creek will likely be canceled, no way it's gonna do good at Sundays 10 pm. What a bad time slot.
ReplyDeleteAlso, does this mean that Stalker has a reduced episode order? EW says it has 17 episodes (unless they mean that it will have aired 17 episodes by March 4, which seems about right)
They wan't to give Cyber a better chance to succeed.

17, according to EW and Deadline. Deadline says Stalker's first season will have 20 episodes in total. It is unclear when the other three will air.
ReplyDeleteYep, it's quite obvious and logical that they are giving Cyber the best shot at survival given that it comes from a well-known franchise.

ReplyDeleteCyber is totally in brand for them and has more upside. I think they are right to giving it its best slot. I do think Battle Creek could have been better off in the summer though but well.

ReplyDeleteI was in the minority here that really hated the Battle Creek pilot. This, to me, says that CBS maybe isn't super confident in the rest of what they've seen of the show.
ReplyDeleteSo Battle Creek chances seem very slim now: it will air out of low rated and incompatible The Good Wife. Why don't they air it at summer while they're at it? In fact, I think it would do better on a weekday during summer rather than Sundays at 10

ReplyDeleteNo,they will have 22 episode full season.The last 11 episodes will air from jan-march until CSI-Cyber takes over and in may,it will be cancelled.

ReplyDeleteHopefully Chicago PD is on break when this show premieres. CBS ruins all my fave shows with their high viewership.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, CBS's scheduling continues to be a mess. If Stalker will have a 20 episode season with 17 under the belt by March, why hold back the last 3 episodes? Why drag the show until the end of May or June to pick off from? Unless there is some huge cliffhanger, just air them and start Cyber in April. Also I don't see how this is a sign of cancellation for Stalker. It still feels early to predict how it's going to go. I find the ratings decent (ish) for the network this year since it's doing a lot better than people thought it would do.
ReplyDeleteBattle Creek in the proverbial death slot baffles me. TGW hits mid 1's every week with CSI dropping down a couple more tenths. I agree with everyone. Stick it in the summer lineup. UTD, Extant, Battle Creek, and Zoo sounds like a pretty decent summer lineup to me. Unless they promote the heck out of it, Battle Creek isn't going to do well at all. It already feels like a burn-off already.
Cyber was never going to Sundays after the mothership tanked there, it has too much potential value to CBS, but it is surprising to see Battle Creek headed there instead of, say, Elementary.
ReplyDeleteIt's just so CBS can advertise their Sunday block as an Emmy award winning 3 hours of television. It's not a bad idea for them overall.

ReplyDeleteMadam Secretary probably won't, but CBS will advertise that Tea Leoni is nominated actress (I forget what award she was nominated for in the 90s), of course the Good Wife is an Emmy winning drama, and Vince Gilligan is an Emmy winning producer.

Just leave "Stalker" alone!!!! This show is one of my favorite right now. Battle Creek looks GREAT!
