NBC is looking to put some #Winning into its comedy brand.
The network is developing the comedy from longtime friends Ben McMillan, Meredith Philpott and Josh Greenbaum, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From Universal Television, the comedy — which received a script commitment — is based on the trio's real-life event when their suddenly famous pal broke up with their entire friend group via a form letter, leaving them more determined than ever to "win" at life.
McMillan and Philpott developed the pitch and will write the script and exec produce alongside Greenbaum and Working Title. Working Title's Gina Girolamo and Christine Conley brought the project.
The comedy marks the second sale for hot writer McMillan, who also has CBS comedy All In set up with Will Gluck exec producing.

No, they're not "winning". For canceling Community and halting Constantine's production….NBC can go screw themselves.
ReplyDeleteHmm. Here's hoping it gets a pickup. Oh and then even makes it to air since apparently now NBC has no idea what commitment is. :)
ReplyDeleteMore bad titles.
ReplyDeleteI'm not the only one that went "What?" at the title am I?
ReplyDeleteNBC, look at Selfie. Those teen trends/lingo don't work as titles. They just drive the adults away.
Even after reading the description I have no idea what this is about!
ReplyDeleteWill it star Charlie Sheen?
ReplyDeletefirst thing I thought when I read the title,
ReplyDeleteTiger Blood would be a neat on as well.
"Charlie, a coked out actor with financial issues, and his loyal but dumb girlfriend Samantha, an ex porn star, attempt to get back into the business by buddying up with Ashton, a former successfull actor who despite his deep dislike for Charlie needs both to get his career back to old heights. As Charlie and Sam loose their house they move in with Ashton and his grandmo....wife Demi"
damn....I should try to sell this to Sheen
Ugh, please stop. This just sounds like a bad attempt at trying to cash in on Charlie Sheen four years too late. It wasn't funny then, it's especially unfunny now. Go away, NBC. You have no idea what you're doing anymore. Just throw in the towel.
ReplyDeleteWow, nice title—only thing isCharlie Sheen is much past that. And technically my username is Bill 2—I'm doing something temporarily on TVBTN
ReplyDelete#CancelledAfter3Episodes
ReplyDeleteAs far as bad tv show titles go, I think Love Monkey tops the list. Nobody knew what the hell it was, and it was pulled after a couple of episodes
ReplyDeleteSounds stupid compared to all the stuff they deiced to cancel. With the track record lately should be canceled before it hits air
ReplyDeleteIt want even make it to air, NBC don't know what the Hell they're doing!!!
ReplyDeleteNext year's #selfie
ReplyDelete#Losing(?)
ReplyDeleteIf they order this to series then we're looking at the first cancellation right here. NBC's track record with comedies lately is ugly, and this sounds horrific.
ReplyDeleteDammit. You beat me to it.
ReplyDelete#StuckInDevelopmentHell
ReplyDeleteWhich is a shame as Selfie was actually pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteUnless he can drink, gamble and whore all he wants he'd never go for it.
ReplyDeletehell, I'd just have to follow him around with a camera and have a solid HBO comedy
ReplyDeleteSo trendy NBC *sigh*
ReplyDeleteLol you would.
