The Mindy Project - Season 3 - Adam Pally Exiting

Nov 21, 2014

TVLine has learned exclusively that Adam Pally‘s run as a Mindy Project series regular will come to an end in early 2015.

I’m told Pally’s pact with the Fox comedy was always set to expire with this season’s 13th episode. He joined the show as Dr. Peter Prentice at the start of Season 2 and was quickly upgraded to a regular. Pally is expected to make occasional guest appearances as his schedule permits.

  1. Aw, I'm sad but at least he'll still be recurring. But the revolving door of cast members really needs to stop.

  2. Not surprised, he's a great talent and has been hugely wasted with sometimes downright cringe-worthy stuff on this show. I'm such a huge fan of Mindy from her writing and character on The Office, loved her book... but The Mindy Project constantly falls flat for me. There have been some great episodes here and there but hardly what I expect from the level of talent writing and on set. The show wastes its supporting cast so it's not a surprise they can't seem to keep any of them

  3. Hope he gets a (better) gig soon.

  4. WTF? This is sad. He should have been utilized properly. I like the show but this chopping and changing really grinds my gears.

  5. I completely agree with you, in respect both of Adam and Mindy. Pally has had no place in The Mindy Project since his insertion. And as much as I love love love Kelly Kapur, I can't say the same about Dr. Lahiri.

  6. Personally I find TMP to be heads above The Office. There's been ONE unfunny episode. (For me.)

  7. I hope that tomorrow there is an announcement he is joining the cast of Marry Me. :)

  8. Yup I suppose it's all a matter of preference. For me The Office had one of the best ensemble casts of all time, and it's up there with my favorite comedy series' ever. TMP is so all over the place, the jokes feel so easy... especially this most recent season I just have no attachment to it. The most troubling thing I guess is that most of the time I really don't like Mindy's character at all.

  9. Dunno how I feel about this....as I don't really find him funny or necessary to any of the storylines....he is definitely a nice to have....but essentially not essential......

  10. I too watch...week after week...I watch to support the first Tamil woman lead in any network TV show. However, I think the show is hugely flawed because she explores none of this....this show would be the same no matter who plays her character....why are we exploring her meeting Danny's family....what about Danny trying to fit into her family....? I am sure this would be more interesting to viewers, to see both trying to fit into different cultures.....Mindy needs to get a clue, and I hope they find it before the show gets cancelled.

  11. Aside from Mindy and Danny it seems none of the supporting cast is really essential to any storylines. Peter was actually probably the most utilized after those two

  12. It's funny because the picture at the top of the page isn't even a remotely accurate cast photo. Gwen and Betsy are gone, Beverly came, went, and came back, Shauna was there but left, Tamra joined, Peter joined and is leaving, and that other guy was there too for a few episodes, including the pilot before Morgan was even there. Mindy Project, get your sh** together.

  13. I love the Mindy Project and Adam Pally but I gotta be honest I am not overly sad about this. To be honest I felt like the cast was doing good once they made their few cuts and really got the writing solid in Season two then they went and added Peter. And it was like he was the Adam Sandleresque shenanigans guy of the show. Always doing something crazy or yelling. And I say this as a fan of Adam loved him in Happy Endings but his character did not do much for me on The Mindy Project. I feel like instead of giving Jeremy or Morgan plots and things to to do they were just like screw it lets add another silly doctor into the group to be zany.

  14. disappointing and perhaps this is a budgetary move, as I really enjoy the show but outside of Mindy and Danny, the writing for the side characters have been lacking particularly for the Jeremy and Peter characters which is a bummer as they have potential. I personally could do with less of the Tamara and Morgan characters and add more stuff for Peter and Jeremy, but we'll see how things go. I've really been enjoying this season and the way the comedy has gotten a bit edgy...

  15. I'd much rather see Morgan go before Peter, but at least Adam's leaving for the likelihood of starring in his own show, if I read that correctly? And if so, can Eliza Coupe be on it? I really don't see Benced lasting, and having my two favourite HE cast members on the same show would be AWESOME!
