Bradley Whitford Joins Cast of Showtime's 'Happyish'
LOS ANGELES, CA – November 14, 2014 – Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) has joined the cast of the SHOWTIME comedy pilot HAPPYISH, playing “Jonathan Cooke,” Thom Payne's boss and an advertising industry legend whose success is due in equal parts to his creative genius and moral cravenness. The new half-hour pilot will be filmed in New York next month, with Oscar® and Golden Globe® nominee Steve Coogan (Philomena, Alan Partridge) and acclaimed actress Kathryn Hahn (Revolutionary Road, We’re The Millers) in the lead roles of Thom and Lee Payne. HAPPYISH is a scathing examination of our pursuit of happiness, a pursuit that might just be the very thing causing our unhappiness in the first place.
An acclaimed television, film, and theater actor, Bradley Whitford is best known for his award-winning role as "Josh Lyman" in The West Wing, which earned him multiple Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. His other television credits include Trophy Wife, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Transparent, Alpha House, The Good Guys, ER, The Secret Lives of Men, Parks and Recreation, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Drunk History, The Mentalist, NYPD Blue, and Shameless on SHOWTIME. His feature film credits include Saving Mr. Banks, The Cabin in the Woods, The Client, Philadelphia, The Muse, Awakenings, Bicentennial Man, Bottle Shock, Little Manhattan, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Kate & Leopold, Presumed Innocent and Scent of a Woman, among countless others.
HAPPYISH was created, written and executive produced by critically acclaimed author and regular This American Life contributor Shalom Auslander. Emmy® Award nominee Ken Kwapis (He’s Just Not That Into You, A Walk In The Woods) will executive produce and direct the pilot. Kwapis' producing partner Alexandra Beattie will co-executive produce, under their In Cahoots banner.
