  1. Why is it in every show when someone from any authority comes to take over the lead on an investigation, they always have to e jerks?

  2. Remember the military guy in BoP episode. Jerk!

  3. It's like a TV rule.

  4. Sooooo true. Why can't writers move beyond these types of stereotypical character tropes. Sigh!

  5. It's so annoying. Why can't they coexist in peace and work together to solve the crime? NOOO they always have to have a secret agenda and some weird prejudice against the crime in question.

  6. It's just in case the audience doesn't realize they're supposed to hate them just because they're doing their job, lol.

  7. So it's a public service then? Good to know lol

  8. Don`t really see the big deal to be honest. It`s just for the storyline. Since I think they are after Plastque for nefarious reasons and Plastique ran away or something.

  9. Well, in this case we're talking about General Eiling, who is a villain, so I'm ok with him being a jerk. That being said, yes it is a trope.

I love Clancy Brown, it was nice seeing him as a good guy on 'Sleepy Hollow', but he can play a fantastic villain (see Carnivale) so I'm looking forward to him being a thorn in everyone's ass.

  10. That's why he looked familiar, I knew I saw him somewhere before. I don't read comics so I don't know who General Eiling is but it wasn't that difficult to figure out that he is a villain.

  11. The big deal is that is's become boring to me, the hotshot authority figure who comes on his white horse to save the day (and he usually fails by the way) and starts to treat everyone like they are incompetent idiots and that he has the magic wand to solve everything, at this point it would be a plot twist if for once that guy turns out to be a decent human being who actually appreciates other people's work. Sure he can ruthless towards Plastique I don't care but why does he have to be rude to the good guys?

  12. I only know a bit about General Eiling, but he's Captain Atom's villain (not to be confused with The Atom) and a piece of work. I don't think he was quite mustache-twirling level of obvious villain, though he does come across as a jerk.

  13. Mission accomplished.

  14. Was he Sheriff Gorbin from Sleepy Hollow? No wonder he looked familiar.

  15. Sheriff Corbin and yes, he was. It was so weird to see him playing a good guy, LOL.

Sound quite similar to Talbot who is also jerk/clueless and refuse to work with Coulson.......

  17. Eiling hates superheroes. He's quite different. That and unlike Talbot he's actually a lot more of a bad person. And in the comics gains powers.

  18. Eiling is just an asshole by nature. It's the character. It's differently a trope, but it's him by default.

  19. Because he's an established DC character. That and given Plastique is (probably) Suicide Squad it makes sense why he's here. He's an actual comic character. In this case it's justified.

  20. He's really just a douche.

  21. I'm so ready. An hour and a half to go.

  22. LOL "Gorbin" that was funny.

  23. Ah well, to be fair it greats tension in the storyline....not everything can be hunky dory...if you feel me.....

But it would be nice, if like you and ODA said above, if there was a storyline where folks worked together. Let me rephrase....hot folks! lol (I am now legitimately thinking of Matt Goode on Good Wife!)

  24. Sooo agreed. Its all to common. I for once would like to see the uncommon in shows. Ah well.....

  25. Back in the day he used to only play villains. It was weird for me to see him play a good guy!

  26. So it was a happy coincident lol

  27. "not everything can be hunky dory...if you feel me....." I feel ya, sister lol seriously this sentence made me laugh for like five mins, I'm still laughing actually lol

  29. As much as I love hearing that I'm awesome and I would hate to burst my bubble lol but really it was very funny anyone could see that.

  30. I know, but to be fair, he plays a magnificent and memorable villain.
