Recently I was invited to attend Winter London Film and Comic Con which was host to a range of celebrities and cosplayers. While I was there I thought I would give them the tough task of answering this question: If you could only watch one, would it be TV Shows or Movies?

Watch the video below to see what won and then vote for yourself in the poll below.

What did you choose? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. TV,
only because I'm simply more invested into the television industry than the feature film industry.

However films do have something I miss with television: a sense of closure.
You barely find TV shows that give fans a satisfying conclusion.
You don't find many shows that tell a story each season and then just continue in the following one.

It's always a ongoing plot, wich at times hurts TV by forcing the writers to strangle themselves in the web they spun on their own.

Movies have closure going for themselves but lack the time to develop storylnes and characters, thus television is what attracts people more.

  2. TV shows all day long. CJ made a friend! Favourite bit was Mickey answering.

  3. Also tv shows get cancelled before they get a chance for closure, whereas movies don't get cancelled halfway through.

TV is free for most show and can watch over and over and over again unlike a movie you have to pay and likely watch it once and maybe twice

  5. well some movies are set up for sequels that aren't getting made anytime soon as well.

Only to add to my comment: also acting is a heavy factor for television wich has a significantly shorter shooting time than movies do. If you're a crappy actor on TV you'll shine in your badness, if you're a terrible actor in film there is time to work on your performance.
There's a lot more pressure on TV regulars (tips his hat to Daniel Gillies once more) while you actually have quite some time to prepare for your part in the movie industry

  6. I prefer TV to movies because TV has become more imaginative than movies. TV offers a wider choice of topics and a greater variety of styles in narrative, from so-called reality shows to dramas to comedies to everything in between and they are offered in digestible pieces, not 3 hour long marathons. With streaming services and DVRs, it is your choice to watch a single episode pr binge multiples at one time. With TV I can sit in comfort at home and enjoy my shows without interruption from rude people, The only benefit of seeing movies in a theater is in the effects on the big screen.

  7. TV. I love movies, especially action and drama, but they're at the most 3 hours long. If there is a sequel, you have to wait another year to 18 months for another 3 hours. TV gives me great acting, great stories and some of my favorite actors on a weekly basis. If I could only see Walton Goggins or Jensen Ackles for one 3 hour movie a year, I'd cry.

  8. I enjoy TV more than movies, there is more time for the characters and stories to develop and grow and you really get invested in them on a different level because you have more time to get to know the characters

  10. I think generally most people here will answer TV shows.

I went with movies. But it's a hard choice.

  11. TV. It has to be a movie I am really interested in for me to go to the theater to see it and I rarely watch them at home. Before Mazerunner, the last Movie I saw was Catching Fire and that was on a plane. With all the TV shows on my current to-watch list, there is no time for movies.

  12. I may have watched four movies total this year and only one was in the theater. Just not my thing. It's all about world building and character development for me and there's only so much that can be done in two hours. I'm a TV fan for life.

  13. TV shows are like long ass movies! Hence, why I like them more. They can delve further into the story given enough time say versus a movie.

  14. Extremely easy choice for me. Especially over the last few years when shows are allowed to have their characters change and/grow over the run of their show.

  15. i was just about to mention this. I'm a drama fan and there were decades when a show would abruptly disappear with its cancelation. At least now shows (well some) Are allowed to air all that's been filmed before disappearing.

  16. TV shows. Because we get years of watching them, whereas, a movie is usually less than two hours and most movie sequels take years to come out and are usually not as good as the original movie.

  18. I love movies but TV characters develop so much on the course of the show I am more passionate about them.

  19. TV shows more than movies. Longer storylines, more characters and development. But movies are changing. MCU is bringing the strength of the TV series on to the big screen with a connected univers. Very curious what will become of the Universal Monsterverse - they are sitting in the writers like on a tv series. On a TV show actors get a chance to grow an develop while on a movie imo they have very short time to deliver. But TV Series if treated badly can be very disappointing a bad movie is easy to forget. Still prefer TV Series, but many of my friend don't like to invest much time into serialized shows thus I like to discuss my favorite shows around here ;-)

  20. Tv shows all the way ! I hardly ever watch movies..(mostly because I hate the french dubbing and subtitles annoy me to no end in the cinemas ! ) Also I love seeing some character development, I get attached and invest in those characters because I see them for (hopefully) years ! In movies it's too short.

TV shows, because they run longer, air every week, and have more space for character and plot development.

  24. Right now, I should say television but it wasn't always like this.
I'm addicted to movies and cinema since I was a kid. Tv shows are just a natural addiction to an already, cronic, maniacal passion of mine. We live in a golden era. I wish to thank Weiner, Chase, Winter, Sutter, Moffat, Whedon and Shore personally :)
