Episode 2.11 - The Akeda (01-Dec-2014)

Fearing the rise of Moloch is already underway, Crane and Mills race to Fredericks Manor armed with the recently acquired demon-slaying Sword of Methuselah to try and prevent the dark lord’s advent, and to rescue Katrina from the Headless Horseman’s grasp. Armed with the mystic weapon, Ichabod battles the Horseman of Death with heretofore unseen success, but Abraham’s daunting warning that wielding the blade will come at a dire cost gives the Two Witnesses pause. Following some research gathered by Jenny, the trio sets off to find the secreted Frank Irving in the hopes that his unique circumstances – his soul belonging by Henry Parish – will render the former police Captain immune to the sword’s curse. Meanwhile, Katrina continues her interrogation of the imprisoned Abraham, heightening Crane’s worries that his wife’s feelings for her former fiancé have begun to resurface in light of their recent proximity. And Ichabod and Katrina contend with the thought that their inevitable battle with Moloch – who is commencing his plans to bring his kingdom of Purgatory to Earth – might require them to face-off with – and possibly force them to kill – their own son.

  1. SERIOUSLY!?!?! We're carrying on with the whole "Katrina may or may not love Abraham" and "Do we have to kill our Horseman of War son"?? 11 episodes....11 EPISODES!?!?! This is ridiculous. Granted, at least the plot with regards to the apocalypse seems to be moving forward but for the love of all that is good in the world, can we just get over this Crane family drama? This is painful and turning me off. Kill Henry, divorce Katrina, have Katrina become HH's woman, bring forth another horseman and get back to the task at hand. Good grief!

  2. I agree with all that was stated.. This whole season has been about saving Katrina just let her stay with Headless and kill Henry he has no redeeming qualities in him.

  3. And exactly why are they saving Katrina? Didn't they just establish this past week that it was HER plan to go back to both horsemen? Why are we rescuing someone who deliberately wanted to be there? SMDH it doesn't make any sense.

  4. Wow, this season is boring.
Absolutely nothing is happening between episode 1 and episode 11.

  5. can they please stop calling parrish their son, this SOB is a monster that tried to kill his own mother and who at this point has no humanity left, and wow irving's immune to Methuselah i don't know whether i should be happy or sad

  6. Quit bitching before you even see the episode, FFS.

  7. The only thing I liked about this synopsis was the prospect of finally getting Irving in on the action and having him wield a badass sword.

Because Katrina is acting as spy for good guys, maybe?

  9. And if the show was all apocalypse all the time people would be complaining that there is not enough focus on the characters. Considering everything, I think they're doing a good job, and my only issue is the writers seem to be nervous about making both sides of the shipdom happy and it's screwing up the dynamic. IMO at least. But they can't NOT focus on character drama, even in tragedies emotions and people's personal dramas are not going to go away. I don't get what the deal is.

  10. I wonder how they're gonna end this season. Plotwise, the last three or four episode summaries we've gotten all sound like events that could easily be transpiring in the final season or penultimate one. Moloch on earth etc. And this is only episode 11 out of 18! I mean what the holy hell are they doing.

Anyway, I'm torn between what I want to see happen: On the one hand, I really love Sleepy Hollow's monsters and stuff so, a part of me hopes they maintain the status quo for another season just so we can have believable reasons for them to investigate these things, another part of me is hoping that Moloch DOES rise in the finale, and starting with season 3 he could start building his "hell on earth/hell in SH". This would presumably change the format into something like Fringe, towards the end of s4 and season 5, where the "monsters" or "events" are just in play and a part of the episode, rather than being the focus of the episode. (I hope that made sense.)

  11. It is mind boggling and sad.

  12. I agree, enough is enough. Get rid of Mom and Son...

  13. Well, she is not doing a good job is they have to keep rescuing her. At this rate she should have kept her ass at the cabin and not do ANYTHING.

  14. But they are not focusing on all of the characters. The show mostly revolves around rescuing Katrina. It has lost it's way.

  15. It the episode matches the synopsis, why bother looking at it. It seem to be much the same as the previous episodes.

    Yeah, that is called plot.

  17. Have Katrina become HH's woman?! When he treats her like he owns her?
And kidnapped her when she said more than once that she didn't want to
be with him. How about no? Katrina deserves far better than that.

  18. No, plot includes forward momentum, not repetition of the same ridiculous acts over and over. This is what we call spinning our wheels on the same asinine event.

  19. I agree to a point. Katrina does deserve better. As a character, Katrina deserves so much better than the idiotic tropes that they've been sticking her with. But at least placing her with HH would be a dynamic change. I wasn't suggesting placing her there by force but by choice. Imagine how the tone would shift and what kind of amazing forward momentum a decision like that would have on the show.

  20. It made far more sense than what the writers have been doing or alluding to. I'd be interested in seeing that.

  21. It is an inane plot and needs to be retired. I will also add that shows that the writers are not doing a good job. Wash.Rinse.Repeat.

  22. I've loved this season! Can't wait to see this episode. This show keeps me on the edge of my seat!

  23. If the show revolved around "rescuing Katrina" she would have been in every single episode that has aired thus far this season. That has not been the case.

  24. You make it sound like Katrina has been the main focus of every episode that has aired this season and that is not the case -- and the only time she actually needed to be rescued was when she was removed from the hospital in Deliverance. As long as Henry is Moloch's representative there is going to be some form of the "Crane family drama" going on. There will be more to this story than this bare outline of events indicates. Also, this is the last episode before the winter break, so there will obviously be some kind of cliffhanger.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Episode 11 is the last episode before the winter break It's very likely there will be a cliffhanger.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes, Katrina went back to Abraham to spy and to kill Moloch. It doesn't makes sense now because we haven't yet seen episodes 9 and 10. Since 9 is focused on the Mills sisters, it's very possible something happens in episode 10 that creates the concern.

  27. A large part of this season has been wasted focusing on Katrina's captivity and deciphering how she could be freed from headless and attempts made to free her. But what does she do each time, but turn around and go back, THEN, have to be rescued again. Enough is Enough.

  28. From your mouth to the writers ears. From what I have seen so far is not impressive. If Henry is the catalyst for all of the Crane drama, maybe they should get rid of him and get on with the apocalypse. I assume a lot of viewers do not want the soap opera crap.
