Scorpion - Talismans - Advance Preview

Nov 24, 2014

Scorpion, “Talismans,” was written by Alex Katsnelson and directed by Sam Hill. Katsnelson has also written for The Tomorrow People, Golden Boy, and Chuck. The episode airs on November 24 at 9/8c on CBS. It’s an action packed episode that you won’t want to miss!

The team is whisked away to help with a highly classified military operation that takes them into the field in Bosnia after a military plane is shoot down. The team is tasked with recovering the plane’s stealth technology. They have to work with a Navy Seals team and naturally, things don’t go as planned! Some of the team grow closer, and Walter’s (Elyes Gabel) sister, Megan (Camille Guaty) spends some time with him and in the garage with Sylvester (Ari Stidham). We get some backstory on how Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and Sylvester met Walter. During the episode, Walter takes Paige’s (Katharine McPhee) advice, and we start to see how the team has grown. Paige proves her value to the team, and Cabe (Robert Patrick) tells her she’s the glue of the team. Watch for a great fight scene toward the end of the episode. Neither Drew (Brendan Hines) nor Ralph (Riley B Smith) are in the episode.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the episode – so as not to give too much away, I won’t include who said them or put them in any particular order….

“I’m the tech-guy. I’m helping.”
“Happy’s in charge.”
“Igor loves USA!”
“None of you saw this.”
“Let’s go to the creepy cottage on the hill.”
“You’re chopping my nuts.”
“Get your game face on.”

And my final “tease” for the episode is that you’ll get to see Cabe braiding toilet paper – and you’ll have to watch to figure out why! Don’t forget to tune in to Scorpion November 24 at 9/8c on CBS. You can see the promo for the episode here and the promotional photos here.

  2. I can't wait! I really have come to look forward to this show every week!

One question: is the scene in the promo where Paige tells Walter "just come back safe" her talking to him about him because he's going off or is she talking about all of them?

I'm shipping those two more and more...

  5. Paige and Walter have somewhat independent storylines - but you can definitely see their bond growing stronger.

  6. She's talking about all of them.

  7. The best part of this episode was seeing how Paige has had an influence on Walter. And continues to...

  8. so in that scene they're not alone? damn it

  9. Thanks, Lisa! Have to admit, I was kind of hoping it was just him LOL. I thought the sneak peek scene where he takes her advice to act like her was cute though!

  10. Please tell me Walter doesn't act like an arrogant jerk throughout the ep, cos I found myself getting annoyed when he was squaring up to the lieutenant in the clip and Paige had to tell him to take a step back. He comes across so unlikeable when he's like that :( Him telling everyone how smart he is is enough already, lol! Really looking forward to this ep tho ..... looks like it's going to be good. Love Sylvester, Toby and Paige. Happy's growing on me, and I'm hoping I can start to like Walter more!

  11. so they're REALLY not alone in that scene?

  12. Walter is learning... ;) We get to see a very different side of him in this episode.

  13. i gotta admit that makes me a little mad, that place where they are looks way too small for more than two people

  14. I was really hoping this episode would feature some Walter and Paige moments. The TV promo definitely advertised the Waige moment when she tells him to be safe. I'm not sure why the writers have lately been giving them less focus/moments. Kind of weird. It's like they are pulling back from them. The early episodes featured memorable moments with them in every single episode...and then Drew showed up, and we're getting basically nothing.

Sounds like this episode once again doesn't feature a lot of Walter/Paige moments. :( And I really thought it would finally give them screen time and more focus given what CBS advertised in the preview. Oh well.

  15. He still needs to quit with bragging about his IQ though. I mean, what genius irl would actually act like that .... well apart from the real Walter O'Brien, lol

  16. I'm sure Walter & Paige will be end game, but if the show peeps rush into it halfway thro s1 what is left?! But they need some more Waige moments, agreed, if only cos I thought the true colors ep was great and super cute <3 ..... And I think Walter would need to show more human emotions before Paige would go there romantically. Right now I think it's more about him being a sorta father figure for Ralph, idk.

  17. because of his sister right? speaking of her do we learn how she's doing with her MS treatment by the way

  18. is what Juliet said true?

    ReplyDelete
  19. maybe it's to all of them but she specifically looks at walter?

  20. Actually, I think a lot of people will do something similar when people are dismissing them. If a guy is huge, he doesn't have to tell people he's stronger than they are, but you can't tell how smart a person is just by looking at them. It's frustrating when you are an expert at something and people dismiss you.... and deep down, I think Walter is pretty insecure - mainly because he doesn't understand emotional responses and isn't sure how to respond to them...

  21. I didn't feel that way, but it depends on what your expectations are.

  22. I suspect that they will draw this out and build it slowly. Let's face it, given where Walter started from in the Pilot, he's come a super long way - but we see how he's torpedoed a relationship in the first scene we see him in. I like that they are developing his character before jumping right to a relationship. Paige is also smart about these things. I think she's going to resist getting into a relationship with her boss - because work drama! And I don't think she'd risk Walter's relationship with Ralph. She'll always put Ralph first - so I think that will hold her back. But because she does love and is starting to understand Ralph, eventually, that will make her the best match for Walter. At any rate, I think we will likely see the Drew situation come to a head in the mid-season finale... and that's total speculation!

  23. I'm totally with you on this. I really can't like a show when I don't like the main character. It's especially jarring for me because I had the opportunity to meet Gabel at SDCC and he is the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. I think you'll be pleased with the progress Walter makes in this episode...

  24. I agree! Plus in that scene you already had the military guy right off the bat acting like an overbearing jerk, I could totally understand Walter bristling over that. Heck, I did myself and I was just watching it! Walter may be arrogant but often he and his team are being dismissed and belittled as soon as they arrive to help. That would get awfully tiring, especially for someone of Walter's limited patience!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree. But I still wish they'd stop pulling back on the Walter/Paige scenes like they have been!

  26. I'm all for good development and growth. But how can Walter and Paige develop if they don't share screen time? In the last few episodes, there has been very little interaction with them. I'm more than good with the writers developing them and letting them grow closer and closer. But to do that, they need to actually have screen time. :) Or at least some moments in the episodes. I'm happy that Walter is taking Paige's advice. I saw the sneak peek with them, and it was lovely to see. But I was hoping since CBS kind of advertised a Waige moment, that this episode would go back to actually giving them scenes like the early episodes did. :)

Instead, I feel like the writers are pulling back on giving them actual screen time. And instead, we are seeing more focus on Toby/Happy (I love them together a LOT, by the way!) But they're actually getting screen time/development. I want the same thing for Waige. :)

  27. Again, I really think they're going for the slow build and are keeping Waige for the fall finale, sweeps, etc. It's also possible that Waige scenes have ended up on the cutting room floor. The plots are pretty intricate, so if they haven't quite got the pacing down for how much script will fit in the hour, the interpersonal character development may be what suffers rather than need to know exposition...

  28. yeah the promo got my expectations very high i guess i shouldn't have gotten them high, i mean i'll still enjoy it (especially since that SOB isn't in the episode) i still love the show but yeah i'm a little sad

    ReplyDelete
  29. so is that more enjoyable or is it more hurtful to the characters

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'll be eagerly waiting these scenes than, I do like the moments between these two very much.

  31. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble but tonight's episode is being pre-empted on the east coast due to the football game between Jets and Bills.
