The doctors are out… after 13 episodes.
Fox will not be ordering a full season of Red Band Society, and the hospital dramedy will wrap production next month after completion of its 13th episode.
Two more episodes will air — tonight and Dec. 3 (both at 9/8c) — before the show goes off the air. The remaining three episodes of the season will be scheduled at a later date.
A network insider says Red Band could still return for a second season, but that seems unlikely.

Fox's decision to pull the plug — sorry! — on the current run does not mean that it's out of the picture completely. The end of production comes at the conclusion of the first 13 episodes, nine of which will have aired as of Wednesday night. After the tenth debuts in December, the remaining three will be shelved to air at a later date. Its time slot goes to big swing Empire in January.

I really hope they end it without any cliffhanger(s) because there's no way it is returning for a 2nd season!
ReplyDeleteHopefully since they havent wrapped production the writers and producers can go in and tie up any loose ends like what ABC did with Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue :) But you never know.
ReplyDeleteI called it, during first epi. Feel bad for them....but seriously....this is a six season epi show at best.
ReplyDeleteAt least if it ends, lets Cahrlie wake up. I really like the show tbh
ReplyDeleteDefinitely hope so.
ReplyDeleteCharlie's awake, he's just not talking yet.
ReplyDeleteI think if the 13th episode does end in a cliffhanger they probably will just leave it as that in the off chance they do get a 2nd season.
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not. If you'd actually watch the show, you'd see that the concept is more elastic and that they've done a fine job at stretching it.
ReplyDeleteHopefully ABC Studios shops this show hard. It's perfect for ABC Family. It's so refreshing that it'd be sad to let it go.
ReplyDeleteThey already have a show like this on ABCFamily.. its called Chasing Life and its very good. Just got picked up for its 2nd season. So if you like this kind of drama you all should check out Chasing Life. The lead is amazing and the stories are so good. Only took me 3 episodes to fall in love with it. :)
ReplyDeleteThis^^ On top of all that RBS would probably need to cut the budget down if it were to move to cable.
ReplyDeleteIt was obviously expected, but it doesn't suck any less. :/
ReplyDelete...is it wrong that my reaction to this news is that hopefully Octavia Spencer can now swing by "Mom"?
ReplyDeleteEh R.I.P RBS. I'll enjoy you while you last.
ReplyDeleteI very much doubt it'll be renewed though even if they say it could still return. FOX was hoping for a new Glee and they didn't get it (The IT teen show that can cruise to syndication before dropping dramatically). They're already looking at bringing back X Factor so it looks like they're looking at replacements for next year.
My thoughts exactly.
ReplyDeleteI watch every epi. Sadly, it would have done better on cable...like Sundance Channel or something.
ReplyDeleteSorry it is how I feel about the show. You can feel free to agree to disagree.
It's amazing that this show has not been cancelled yet.
ReplyDeleteI can agree with this....ABC Family would have been a better fit for the show.
ReplyDeleteThis show should have never been from the kids point of view. The kid that plays Leo is terrible and Leo is not a very likeable character to be the lead of the show. Also none of the medical cases were true to life, my friends husband has CF fighting to hang on, not skateboarding around the hospital like Dash. Surprisingly the only kid I did like was Cara, she said it like it is but also shows her vulnerable side. I feel bad for Octavia Spencer who put herself on the line for this show and they barely used her.
ReplyDeleteAnd another one bites the dust.
ReplyDeleteBut since it's an off chance, they still have time to take that cliffhanger out. If they were smart, they would. Their series has a lot more chance to have people watch it on DVD if it's not ended on a cliffhanger. There is no real off chance it's coming back. The fact that it's not getting back 9 is pretty much confirmed cancellation.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if Red Band has decent numbers in younger demos, like A18-34 or W18-34?
ReplyDeleteSad, I was getting to love this show I hope it's not canceled and they bring it back but knowing TV these days that's not going happen.
ReplyDeleteThis is really sad news! It's really good show but they put it against really strong series and i think that if they aired it on saturdays it would have better numbers
ReplyDeleteI just read that they wanted more episodes but abc didn't want to lower the licence fee.
ReplyDeleteWell I disagree completely
