And we take into account other benchmarks including the expected demographic ratings, potential DVR usage, the critical acclaim (or lack of) and the social media presence.

-Winners:
“The Voice” (NBC), “The Goldbergs” (ABC), “Modern Family” (ABC), “Black-ish” (ABC), “Law & Order: SVU” (NBC), “Chicago PD” (NBC)
-Honorable Mention:
“The Middle” (ABC), “Survivor” (CBS), “Criminal Minds” (CBS)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Red Band Society” (Fox), “The 100” (CW), “Nashville” (ABC), “Stalker” (CBS)
———-
Ratings Breakdown:
Lifted by the triple crossover between “Chicago Fire,” “Law & Order: SVU” and “Chicago PD,” NBC topped this second Wednesday in November, besting No. 2 CBS by 24 percent in the household overnights. In the competitive No. 3 spot was ABC.
A one-hour Wednesday 8-9 p.m. edition of NBC’s “The Voice” won the 8 p.m. hour with a 7.2 rating/12 share, which was 29 percent above the always consistent “Survivor” on CBS (#2: 5.6/ 9). Compared to the week-ago overnights for regularly scheduled “The Mysteries of Laura” (5.3/ 8), “The Voice” held a 36 percent advantage. And its lead in the key demos will be much greater.
Airing out of “The Voice,” aforementioned “Law & Order: SVU” rose to a dominant 6.7/10 in the 9 p.m. hour, which was its best performance in the metered markets since Nov. 30, 2011 (7.5/13). And it led into a series-high 6.4/11 (#1) for “Chicago PD” at 10 p.m. Needless to say, you can expect more crossovers between the three NBC dramas in the future.
On CBS, aforementioned “Survivor” scored a minor one-tenth of a rating point (or two percent) boost from the 5.5/ 9 one week earlier (which translated into a healthy 9.31 million viewers and a 2.3 rating/7 share among adults 18-49, based on the Live Plus Same Day data). And it led into a consistent 6.4/10 in the overnights for veteran “Criminal Minds” at 9 p.m., followed by “Stalker” at a distant second-place 4.5/ 8 at 10 p.m., which slipped by 32 percent from year-ago occupant “CSI” (6.6/12 on 11/13/13).
Over at ABC, 8-10 p.m. sitcoms “The Middle” (#2t, 5.6/ 9), “The Goldbergs” (#3: 5.0/ 8), “Modern Family” (#1: 7.0/11) and “Black-ish” (#3: 5.7/ 9) were, on average, six percent above their most recent overnights (on Oct. 29), which remains a healthy rotation for ABC. And it led into a typical 3.9/ 7 for three year-old “Nashville” at 10 p.m., which was on par with the modest year-ago evening. Particularly positive for ABC was growth for “Black-ish” over failed year-ago occupant “Super Fun Night” (3.9/ 6 on 11/13/13) of a hefty 46 percent.
Elsewhere, Fox’s “Red Band Society” continues to hinge on the verge of cancellation with a 1.9/ 3 at 9 p.m., which was a series low. And it led out of a 2.8/ 4 (#4) for “Hell’s Kitchen,” which still has a respectable following in the key young adult demographics. The CW’s combination of “Arrow” (#5: 2.0/ 3) and “The 100” (#5: 1.2/ 2), meanwhile, were equal to one week earlier, which is not a positive for “the 100.”

ABC and NBC seemed like they had great nights. That's The Middle's highest meter market rating this season. Hope it has an increase in the demo.
ReplyDeleteSeems like Stalker dropped yet again.
The 100 has really to pick up steam. I love the show but viewers need to follow.
ReplyDeleteIt sad when a show like PD only can go up for crossovers
ReplyDeleteThe is up a tenth on HH, so hopefully it inched up this week
ReplyDeleteAnd The Voice lifting the night
ReplyDeleteyup forgot about that! NBC shows really can't stand on their own
ReplyDeletePlease!
ReplyDeleteThe Voice always helps a lot, but CF and SVU at least have been steady players even without it
ReplyDeleteThe 100 and AOS give me heartburn every week hopefully its a 0.6 or 0.5
ReplyDeleteI think we are looking at a series low for the 100 judging by the top25, no? I hate this.
ReplyDeleteSure, expect more NBC crossover boosted by The Voice!
ReplyDeleteI believe so :(
ReplyDeleteLast year they also did a crossover that didn't have the voice to boost the night and SVU and PD saw huge gains, it was also a series high for PD at the time, so I am not sure if it is only the voice effect here.
ReplyDeleteTop 25 isn't looking good for The 100. My excuse for this week is the episode being put up early on Netflix :P I really wouldn't be able to deal with this show getting cancelled.
ReplyDeleteI think ABC is down a lot looking at the top25 markets. The Goldbergs and MF particularly are looking at season lows I think.
ReplyDeleteI will be destroyed if the 100 gets cancelled but I really don't know what could save it now. I am starting to accept it will happen. I hate it.
ReplyDeleteDONT DROP THE 100 PLSSSSS
ReplyDeleteThose top25 markets are downright horrible for every single network not named NBC (though Blackish and TM look okay). What a disaster, I hope the cw is able to come up with a miracle in the final ratings.
ReplyDeleteIt's a real shame it's such a unique show imo, I don't know why it's not able to find an audience.
ReplyDeleteI don't like to read too much into these early numbers. we'll see what happens.
ReplyDeleteThe 100 ratings terrorizes me more than all scary movies combined. SHIT! I dont want to say goodbye to this show!
ReplyDeleteSo sad!
ReplyDeleteMe too I discovered two shows in summer AOS and the 100 and I absolutely adored both. I will be crushed if any of these are gone already so attached to the characters and how they will evolve especially the 100 they can go so many directions for the show its amazing.
ReplyDeleteLuckily it's on a network that hasn't had a new hit show this season.
ReplyDeleteI love both of those shows too, definitely two of my favorites! Thankfully, I really don't think Agents of Shield is in any danger of cancellation whatsoever, so we will get to enjoy that one for at least a couple more seasons. The 100 however is in a severe predicament, I don't see how the show survives :/ So sad!
ReplyDeleteI find that the overnights correlate pretty terribly with the final ratings but the top25 markets usually do a pretty decent job at predicting the final ones. But I hope you're right in this case.
ReplyDeleteWow, T100 top 25 looks scary. This is so sad. Still can not figure out why cheese cartoonish superheroes are more popular on CW then decent quality, dark fantasy. Wonder how this show would do on different channel.
ReplyDeleteIt needs to beat JTV and 2 of the new shows unless all of them bomb badly I don't see it happening its such a brilliant show I just don't understand it.The show leaves us on such huge cliffhangers like last yr then I don't think I can take it it will be the first cancelled show I've heavily invested him(hopefully that doesn't happen).
ReplyDeleteAOS well iI'm praying the 1.5 or lower is the last time we see it .
A bit low for Stalker.. that's disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI really hope stalker adjusts up, loving this show but the ratings are disappointing this week:(
ReplyDeleteI don't think JTV will be renewed but I don't think that's enough to save The 100 either. Even if both midseason shows bomb, they can fill the week with TO,TVD,Flash,Arrow,SPN and three new dramas (or two if they keep Reign on during the week instead of sending it to Fridays).
ReplyDeleteSimple. Those "cheesy cartoonish superhero" shows you speak of are better and are more enjoyable to watch than another run of the mill post-apocalypse-esque type show
ReplyDeleteSo sad for the 100,every episode is outdoing the previous one & the exact opposite is happening in case of it's ratings! So sad,it's almost dead now!
ReplyDeleteI loved stalker last night, sad to see it so low!
The cross-over episodes were spectacular, they deserve these type of high ratings!
i really hope stalker and 100 adjust up theyre really great shows :/
ReplyDeleteLooks like SVU might be NBC's number 1 drama this week beating the Blacklist.
ReplyDeleteIt also grew from its "Voice" lead in which is a first for NBC. Great to see the show doing so well after all these years.
Also according to the Top25 it looks like SVU is higher than the Voice.
ReplyDeleteWhat's that mean for The Middle? 1.8? 1.9?
ReplyDeleteIf SVU truly beats its voice lead-in and the blacklist, that would be one hell of an accomplishment for that show.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is a 1.9/2.0
ReplyDeleteWhat about Goldbergs?
ReplyDeleteThese are only guesses and we will know in about 15 minutes. But its top25 market looks much lower than usual, I don't think it's impossible that it dipped below a 2.0. It its defense, it was facing the voice, which it usually doesn't have to do.
ReplyDeleteSame! Every week I open this page with a sense of dread and my heart sinks even further!!! Why aren't people watching?! I don't understand! Blame the CW ... they aren't promoting it enough and it even seems as if they are burning the episodes out.
ReplyDeleteAll we can hope for is that S2 ends with all loose ends tied up and no cliffhangers!
I know they're onky guesses. I was just curious. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThe MIddle did a 1.9; The Goldbergs a 2.1. Modern Family got a 3.1 and Black-ish got a 2.5
ReplyDeleteSVU did a 2.4 and PD a 2.2
They are showing season 1 here in India ... and I'm watching it =P I hope it's doing well here ... I mean, if it does do well in International markets ... then maybe we can hope for another shortened season? right? right?! :'(
ReplyDeleteArrow 0.9, The 100 0.6
ReplyDeleteI am actually relieved, I thought the 100 would hit a 0.4 judging by the top25 markets. Hopefully it doesn't adjust down this week. Arrow is down sadly but maybe it can adjust up again and anyway it was up against the voice.
ReplyDeleteThat is okay for the 100! I hope the 100 Fans are satisfied
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the world of pain. I had this with ttp. But I am german so I don't count anyway. Sorry for 100 Fans
ReplyDeleteModern Family was the youngest skewing show of the night with a 3.1 in 18-er
ReplyDeleteI wanted higher, but if it doesn't adjust down I could be okay-ish with this number. Still very nervous though.
ReplyDeleteWell last week it was up against CMAs.
ReplyDeletenoooooooo red band society please adjust up
ReplyDeleteYeah good point.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel :( it was the same with revenge
ReplyDeletePlease tell that CW wasn't pre-empted anywhere.
ReplyDeleteWow, with the Top 25 numbers at 0.5 for The 100 expected a 0.4 :P I'm so happy with 0.6, please don't adust down!
ReplyDeletePLEASE NO Adjusted Down For The 100
ReplyDeleteStalker keeps dropping and dropping. Don't see it getting a second season.
ReplyDeleteI find The 100 equally enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteSpoke to soon about The 100 lol, hopefully it won't adjust down now!
ReplyDeleteModern Family overran into blackish by a minute so I expect downward adjustments to blackish with MF edging a tenth higher.
ReplyDeletei will be sooo mad!
ReplyDeleteThoughts:
ReplyDelete- NBC was obviously the biggest winner last night. SVU within 1 tenth of the voice is very very impressive and PD also held up pretty well.
- ABC had a generally poor night, though The Middle inching up in spite of the voice and Blackish posting what is probably the best retention from MF yet is also amazing. But TG and especially MF had kind of bad nights. Nashville hanging in there at 10.
- CBS did better than I expected with Survivor holding its own against the voice and Criminal Minds enduring the SVU spike pretty well. Stalker though looks awful at 10pm tying Nashville and losing almost a full point from CM. It should have never gotten a back 9, it was a clear 13 and out case.
- Hell's Kitchen is showing some life finally, and it has even more value since it came against the most unscripted competition it has had the whole season. Maybe Masterchef Jr. is helping a bit?
- The CW did okay. I wish both shows were higher but Arrow is still stolid and if the 100 doesn't adjust down (finally) it would be a season high, so it could be worse.
How the hell does nashville manage to stay so steady
ReplyDeleteYes I also feel the same with Revenge. Those are the two shows that bring me the most pain ratings wise.
ReplyDeleteRevenge gives me a lot of pain although it should rise on sunday :) but i am always nervous
ReplyDeleteABC is down but I wouldn't say poor given that competition last night
ReplyDeleteExpect NBC to fall back to Earth next week
ReplyDeleteThe Middle needs to rise though, it's down to S1 levels. I hope by the end of the season it catches up to the Goldbergs
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree. I don't remember anything ever retaining the voice that well. Not even stuff like Got Talent I believe.
ReplyDeleteArgh! Arrow! It had two 1's in row, maybe it'll adjust up.
ReplyDeleteThe Middle and The Goldbergs skewed so much older last night.
ReplyDeleteits good but without the leadin and crossover they would be back in the 1s
ReplyDeleteI think The Blacklist's midseason finale last year did something alike, not sure, though.
ReplyDeleteAny known pre-emptions? Please let The 100 keep this number!
ReplyDeleteDon't see anyone reported any yet.
ReplyDeleteI expect Stalker's order to be reduced. Kind of like Vegas did two seasons ago.
ReplyDeleteArrow was great last night! I just watched it! Hope it gets up to a 1.0! That episode deserves it!
ReplyDeleteMaybe they need to change into to another night when less popular shows like law and order/criminal minds etc. air??
ReplyDeleteThe midseason finale lost four tenths from it's the Voice lead-in (3.0 vs 3.4)
ReplyDeleteHow low would Hells Kitchen have to drop to be in danger? Its a show i look forward to every year and no one really posts about it.
ReplyDeleteRBS was so awesome last night, it's sad it got those ratings *sighs* It's fate it's sealed but i like the shw. Glad to see The 100 UP. please dont AD in the finals. The goldbergs is killing it
ReplyDeleteI think FOX will always find a use for it, be it in the regular season, on Fridays, in the summer or as a backup. I think most of these Ramsey shows will end when he calls it quits pretty much like Kitchen Nightmares did.
ReplyDeleteWhy the hell should NBC oversaturate their biggest hit which is already declining?
ReplyDeleteWas Vegas episode order reduced? I thought all of them aired though the last portion of the season was on Fridays.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear:)
ReplyDeleteIt makes sense considering the voice's strength in 18-34.
ReplyDeleteThe 100 ratings are up!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.awesomelyluvvie.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/EmotionalRollercoaster.gif
Ever heard of sarcasm? Besides, NBC would only need to go ahead and do one for Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI am not ready to let go. I hope the CW gives the show atleast a half new season like what they did with Nikita.
ReplyDelete*fingers crossed* don't adjust down, don't adjust down, don't adjust down
ReplyDeleteIt was cut by one, it had 21 episodes in the end. Not a lot, but still. I think something similar might happen to Stalker.
ReplyDelete1.0 or less I think
ReplyDeleteYeah I was probably being too harsh.
ReplyDeleteDidn't remember, thanks.
ReplyDeletePlease don't adjust down the 100!
ReplyDelete18-34 ratings per showbuzzdaily:
ReplyDeleteABC:
The Middle: 1.0
The Goldbergs: 1.1
MF: 2.1
Black-ish: 1.6
Nashville: 0.9
CBS:
Survivor: 1.2
Criminal Minds: 1.4
Stalker: 0.7
NBC:
The Voice: 1.8
SVU: 1.9
Chicago PD: 1.5
FOX:
Hell's Kitchen: 1.0
RBS: 0.8
CW:
Arrow: 0.8
The 100: 0.4
That's all we want
ReplyDeleteyea I wish they would maybe they will after winter
ReplyDeleteA 0.6 out of a 0.9 from Arrow looks waaaay better than last week's 0.5 out of Arrow's 1.1. Hopefully The 100 ratings will stay the same- and I'd be lying if I'd say I'm not dreaming of it adjusting up
ReplyDeleteDo u know the half hour rating breakdown?
ReplyDeleteSomeone help me. Did The 100 get a 0.5 or 0.6? Everyone is saying different things?
ReplyDeleteA 0.6.
ReplyDeleteThe 100 adjusting up,that will never happen sadly.
ReplyDelete0.6/0.5
ReplyDeleteYeah it does. But I still don't think it's totally safe at 0.6. But let's first make sure it keeps that 0.6. Last week it was really close, it did a 0.54.
ReplyDeleteI've seen strangers things happen. Since HIMYM adjusted up 5th last season I think everything is possible
ReplyDeleteI know it's doesn't work this way,but adjusting down is very likely.
ReplyDeleteSo sad for Stalker, I really like the show :(
ReplyDeleteFor now I only hope that 0.6 sticks in the finals; it'd be awesome if The 100 could grow slowly from here onwards, but I'll be ok as long as it doesn't do lower than 0.5. Now, my best hope is that it keeps doing 0.6s for a while
ReplyDeleteExcept half hours don't mean anything in terms of adjusting up/down
ReplyDeleteIt's surprisingly good! The case this week was so good!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope not; if The 100 gets a 0.55 it will get rounded up to 0.6, so let's hope for that
ReplyDeleteBut it almost always indicates the adjustment.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/TheCancelBear/status/532936206192238594
ReplyDeleteLOL no one cares where SVU would be without the crossover.
ReplyDeleteIt's a huge accomplishment for the show and for NBC that it retained as much of its lead in as it did and that it's still able to pull in great ratings in its 16th season.
I hope for the best, prepare for the worst!
ReplyDeleteI hope it can adjust up and next week go up a little :(
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed!Maggie Q is killing it!
ReplyDeleteThat's probably the best
ReplyDeleteShe really does!
ReplyDeleteGreat numbers for SVU and Chicago PD!
ReplyDeleteThanks, good to know. Though even with downward adjustments, the crossover numbers will still look great.
ReplyDeleteI'm really ok with NBC being pre-empted, they will still deliver good ratings. I'm glad The CW isn't pre-empted!
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think it's not safe at the same ratings as last season? Would airing at a different time of year really be that much of a factor?
ReplyDeleteBecause The CW is doing much better this season as a whole. If Reign is renewed The 100 will be in a troubled position since there will be fewer timeslots available
ReplyDeleteBecause the low rated shows are doing very close to each other. And reign and JtV being channel's favorite doesn't bode well for the 100.
ReplyDeleteYour post didnt indicate it was sarcasm. Was surprised you would post that though.
ReplyDeleteOh if they'd be that generous ... I'd be over the moon! Seriously ... The 100 is soooo good, it deserves another season and a proper send off!!
ReplyDeleteI really don't want to let it go either ... the world building and the potential for the show are HUGE!
The "I just don't know why..." would be a good indicator that I wasn't talking seriously, considering it would be good only for the short-term.
ReplyDeleteThe CW is doing significantly better this fall than it was doing last spring, so the 100's ratings would look worse in comparison even if they had stayed the same as they were last Spring. On top of that, its ratings are down a severe 26%, which means that its a double decline of its relative ratings.
ReplyDeleteCriminal Minds is doing great for the tenth season ! SVU as well .
ReplyDeleteHi! I was wondering why doesn't the CW utilize the weekend slots and place some shows there like other big networks are doing?
ReplyDeleteThey can't afford that many shows and when they firsted started CW did air shows on Sun but they failed so CW gave the night back to afflites
ReplyDeleteI mean it hasn't been canceled yet! I think they just need to change the night it airs! I really like the show!
ReplyDeleteIf they don't cancel it before then?
ReplyDeleteBefore then! :/
ReplyDeleteThanks for responding! I'm from the Bahamas and didn't really know how these things work.
ReplyDeleteI believe CW runs its shows Mon-Fri in the 8-10 pm slot on another (local?) channel and it doesn't have it's own channel ... or something like that! When I was in New York this summer (while The 100 was still on), I could access the other big networks but CW came on TV on another channel at 8 which was previously showing only local news.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a good grasp on how it works ... but yes, it would be awesome if CW had extra slots, esp the 10-11 pm slot, and the weekend slots!
I'm telling you, if the 100 gets adjusted down, I will kill someone. And by someone I mean those who didn't watch it.
ReplyDeleteNashville has to be one of the most steadiest shows rating wise I've ever watched.
ReplyDeleteArrow should adjusted up to 1.0 at least
ReplyDeleteJust think if Arrow ever got Flash numbers(total viewers) in its third season…that would be impressive.
ReplyDeletei am mean but I like that Stalker has added nothing to the CBS line up in taking CSI's timeslot.. If anyrhing it rates the same and has way less aviewers. Serves CBS right for moving it to Sunday to tank
ReplyDelete
