I hated this episode. I rolled my eyes through half of it. The best part was the previews for next week. Who didn't already know Eugene was basically useless? I'm sick of that whole crew, Abraham's mustache and Eugene's mullet. How are there only three episodes left and the last two episodes have seemed like filler?
It was a good episode I knew it that Eugene wasn't a scientist's for one he doesn't look that smart and the group was dumb to believe him in the first place
I usually find episodes where the group splits up to be just okay but I really enjoyed this one. I like many people felt that Eugene was lying but it makes a little sense as to why he would lie.
It was a good episode, I think. There were periods where the episode lulled but I liked the quiet moments between Tara and Eugene and Maggie and Eugene (even though I could barely make out what Maggie was saying).
It's kinda interesting, because I was really interested in Abraham's tragic story, and I could see why his rage and pigheadedness takes over; he's trying to make up for the loss of his family by pushing forward. However, anger only keeps reopening old wounds; the cut on his fist is an apt metaphor. That being said, it just makes me dislike him. Is he an interesting character? Absolutely. But he's damaged, and his leadership is as well. I appreciate the character, though.
Eugene.... let's be real, we all knew he was full of it, but how we got to the revelation was really insightful for his character. I feel like the way he played getting buried under his lie was believable. Josh did a great job, playing a coward coming out about his wrongdoings.... but I can't hate him? What he did was despicable, but clever, and I actually felt bad for him. Again, Josh was great, a highlight for this episode.
Man I could go on forever about a lot of the detail about the characters in this episode, but I'll keep it shorter: I'm starting to really like Rosita, given how little we've seen of her; Tara is such a gentle soul, I really love her more and more as each episode passes; Maggie waxing poetic about Eugene's mullet was funny.
It was a okay episode! i really don't like when the groups are split, but i get that they keep doing this to explore better each arc on the show..this way everyone gets their time to shine..very excited for next week!
It was definitely better then last week but lets be honest we would all be Eugene coming up with some lie to keep yourself alive in the zombie apocalypse.
WOW, you mean "Dim Mullet" was lying this whole time...............WHAT! The writers/producers of the hit TV series "The Walking Drama" have gone and done it again.............pulling the wool over our eyes, yet again! How did we (the viewers) not see this coming...............I understand that Eugene needed to survive, but that was a..................."Burger King Whopper" of a story.................(end sarcasm, lol)! 4 THE DRAMA (DEAD) TO STAY WALKING, I will be Nobody!!!
The episode was okay. We all knew Eugene was full of #&*@. It was nice seeing some backstory of Abraham and Eugene though. I still don't give a damn about them though.
Loved the episode and can't wait for what looks like a all Carol and Daryl episode next week !!!
For no being a scientist Eugene had a interesting read choice. He was reading H.G. Wells "The Shape of Things to Come" Other works by Well's include "The Time Machine", "The Invisible Man", "The Island of Doctor Moreau", "The War of the Worlds", "The First Men in the Moon", and "The Outline of History". Let the theorizing begin.
Good episode, but definitely the weakest of the season. The biggest thing that happened in the episode was the revelation (one of the most obvious things, even if you didn't read the comics) that Eugene wasn't actually a scientist who could stop the zombies.
Having something on Abraham's backstory was nice, although a bit short. That payoff came more towards the end when we saw Abraham about to kill himself only to not go through with it and find a mission, which only makes his rage and sadness at the end all the more crushing.
Maybe now they'll turn around and meet up with Rick & Co. in time to go try and rescue Beth?
This wa a Meh episode at best, honestly the only thing that could have made this episode worse would be if Tyrese had been there crying about having to be useful, Eugene contributes more than the giant man baby Tyrese. I just can't stand Tyrese's blubberring every damn episode, at least Eugene admits to being weak & scared & trying to stay alive by any means necessary.
Thought it was interesting but overall okay ... I don't understand why all these different stories (obv happening over the same time period) can't be shown together in one episode... more than anything ... I miss the dynamics of the group being together and Rick of course!
I get Eugene, but I don't know why it's so important for Abraham to keep going. I hope now after Eugene's confession that he decides to turn back and rejoin the others.
Overall I was a little "meh" about this episode. Part of that was because I was having trouble making out specific visuals (note from Abraham's family, dark scenes in the bookstore, zombie horde in the field) and even certain bits of dialog. Part of it was because Abraham, as a character, is not one of my favorites. I appreciate that we got a little insight into what's driving this all-consuming "mission" of his, but he's still just way too bullheaded, bullying, and one-dimensional for my taste.
I do love the way Josh McDermitt has played a character most of us knew was utterly full of it from the beginning. And I like the writer's choice to have him come clean early on this road trip, because it keeps every viewer (comic fans and non-readers alike) guessing what will happen now. Also, I'm glad we got more glimpses into Rosita and Tara as real human beings (Rosita in the comics is like a background prop). And of course, those fire hose kills were awesome. All in all, though, I've never really warmed up to Abraham's group. But I'm interested to see where the story goes next.
I actually thought this was a surprisingly strong episode. I don't get all the hate for this episode. Maybe it's because i also really liked the second half of the previous season where they were all split, but this was an excellent episode for me.
This was an ok episode for me. It was a little confusing. Why was Abe's family scared of him? Was it due to the violent way he killed those zombie's and for some reason they thought they were better off on the road than with him?
While I didn't think Eugene had all the answers, I was a little surprised when he confessed that he made up everything--other than the fact that he was a smart guy. I was, however, shocked when Eugene died after Abe shoved him against the fire truck. Even though it was a vicious shove, I didn't think Eugene would die from it; maybe be knocked out, but not dead. I did like how the others jumped in and attempted to stop Abe from attacking Eugene, despite Eugene's confession. Maybe they didn't do it for Eugene's sake, but the fact they did it at all, I appreciated it.
I'm pretty sure that in the comic they mentioned there being other people who were with them that died along the way, and I think a couple of them may have been mentioned by name, but I can't remember for sure.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteAwesome episode. I already liked Abraham. Now his obsession is over and he'll become even more sympathic.
ReplyDeleteI never understood why some people believed that Eugene would know more than nothing.

ReplyDeleteWere Stephanie, Warren, Pam, Rex, Roger, Josiah, Dirk, and Josephine ever mentioned in the comics ?

ReplyDeleteOther than Abraham's (bad) humming, there was no score this episode. Did anyone recognize the song? Was it significant?
ReplyDeleteThis was an ok episode for me. It was a little confusing.

Disappointed. Very very disappointed :(
ReplyDeleteThose were actual living human beings, not walkers that Abraham killed.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who had problems with closing eyes during watching last 4 episodes?
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! That humming drove me crazy, it was effing unbearable.

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty certain Eugene didn't die, though I wondered if he did for a minute.
