  1. So sad!!! Rest in peace, Anthony.

  2. How do you keep things fresh, Plageman? "We kill people." This is the anniversary of Joss Carter's death. I guess it was better than having Finch kidnapped again, but wow, do they need some fresh ideas.

  3. Coming Soon - FULL SCALE GANG WAR.

Fantabulous episode. Sad tosee Scarface die but better him than Elias. I have been rooting for Dominic but after tonight's episode, I don't think the Brotherhood will win this oncoming gang war. Dominic is clever and intuitive but Elias isway, way too crafty. Another reason that Dominic could be brought down is his apparent lack of care for his men. Link was upset that they had lost some good men, but Dominic was only concerned about the bigger picture. Could Link be the weak link in the future? Could he end up betraying Dominic?

Loved how the show added even more layers to Elias' back story by revealing his group home past with Anthony (back story within a back story) and Bruce.

Elias openly told Harold and Reese not to interfere in the coming gang war. I wonder what Reese and co. will do if the Machine spits out a Brotherhood number in the future.

Dominic - Got to give him points for his single minded focus. Even after this setback, his mind is already turning towards Elias' benefactors. Could Dominic's search for the mysterious person backing Detective Riley and the 'bitch' from the ambulance, bring him up on Samaritan's radar as a potential asset? Time will tell.

On to the other part of the episode:

Short but great shoot out at the store. I let out a huge whoop when Shaw got out her big gun from under the counter.

Poor Shaw got played by Root. I confess, even I was fooled. Nice scenes between the two of them. Shaw is pissed at Root but I think that this evens them out a bit. After all, Shaw decked Root in 3x07 and that in turn led to Root being locked up by Harold. This time, Root does the honors and Harold is now advocating seclusion for Shaw.

Will Shaw agree with seclusion? Will she keep quiet? I don't think so. But if she goes top side she courts certain death. I am eager to see what the writers have in store for her.

Martine continues to impress. When she showed up at the precinct, I thought Fusco was in mortal danger. Glad that he handled her amazingly well.

Interesting thing is that Samaritan couldn't detect the modifications made to seven of its servers even after running a diagnostics test. Greer thinks the Machine is blinding Samaritan and he continues to remain oblivious to the real deception of the seven servers.

Greer gave Martine a team.Quick Question: Do all these new team members have Samaritan helping them directly? All of them seemed to be wearing some sort of headset.

    THOUGHTS?

  4. why our Scarface, why :/

  5. Dominic completely ignored Elias' warning about hubris, and is now setting his sights higher, even though he just failed. Not going to end well for him.

  6. another awesome ep
    elias/machine vs dominic/samaritan
i can see this war coming hopefully on season finale.

  7. After I read the interview today with Enrico and he said the team would have less respect for him after this episode I was given hope that he was not going down tonight. Dominic , pure brilliance and pure evil , would be a perfect match for Samaritan as he would sacrifice anyone for his own benefit. I was a nervous wreck watching this episode as there were so many potentials for disaster. Man, I would love it if Fusco would wind up being the one to end Martine's reign of terror. They put a lot of emotion in this episode and I am exhausted.

  8. i m begining to like elias way more than dominic now.
    hopefully elias wins this war.
he is the only ally right now for the team machine

  9. Wow, do I ever disagree -- this was an incredibly rich episode, full of fresh ideas.

  10. Do people really mourn fictional characters on anniversaries, as if they were real people? I find that really freaking bizarre.

  13. Have never understood your rooting for Dominic , but I do have to give him credit for his brilliance. Just when you think the playing field cannot get more dangerous it jumps to a whole new level of jeopardy.

  14. The Press Release for Episode 410 The Cold War was posted on this site earlier. It'll return Dec. 16th. It's going to be insane.

  15. "Have never understood your rooting for Dominic"

He is a young lion going after an old lion. Dominic is an underdog in this fight and I automatically always support underdogs. In the wild, a single young lion does not dare to take down a battle hardened lion. Here, I have to give props to Dominic because he has the guts to go after Elias and has plans to take over the city. He is brutal but he is also very intelligent and perceptive. Just see how his mind works. He is already puzzling over the mysterious benefactor. How long before a thread unravels and he gets some leads?

Also, Elias is no innocent. He wiped out 5 or 6 Russian dons to come to power. What goes around comes around. It's his turn to face the music now.

  16. I've liked Elias since his first appearance on POI. There was still an earnest quality about him even before he was revealed as a crime boss. A code of ethics that inspired the loyalty and respect from his peers. He';s done his fair share of foul crap. But it's hard not to like him especially after the justice he got for Carter last season in The Devil's Share with that amazing Outliers monologue to boot. That final scene between Elias and Anthony was amazing! Tremendous acting by both actors.

  17. There are no saints here, no good men,but at least Elias recognizes honor and respects it and pays his debts, though in this case his way of paying them will be rather bloody. Dominic has no time for anything but the path his raw intelligence can lead him down and no restraints that loyalty might put on him.

  18. Excellent episode this is war in two fronts: first in the streets with Dominic vs Elias, and beyond the cyberwar with Samaritan vs Team Machine. Great characters delevopments, great action, but I miss a little bit of tension in some parts.

Dominic is dangerous, but now Elias is more after the death of Scarface (RIP).

Rousseau now have a team, wow this is gonna be great.

  19. This series is phenomenal. Once again it proves why it's the best television series around at the moment.

It's really good to see a very strong second storyline shifting away from Finch and Reese. Them and the team will be spectating much more than participating which is an unorthodox position for them to be in. That being said, they still have their own war to fight against Samaritan.

RIP Anthony. David Valcin, you've done a fantastic job over 4 seasons as a guest star. Hope to see you again on something else.

  20. Carter died in the 3rd week of November, not the last.

  21. Just the usual "PoI is a sh*t because/since they killed Carter" hate, don't care about it.

  22. "Them and the team will be spectating much more than participating which is an unorthodox position for them to be in."

Spectating? No way. They will be dragged into this mess. Maybe caught between a vengeful Elias and the Machine spitting out Brotherhood numbers for them to save.

  23. Get over it Carter is Gone & for that matter check your dates Lol. This was an Awesome Episode

  24. Best Episode of the season IMO. Shame we have to wait 2 more weeks for the next episode.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It was a really good episode there is only one thing I wish they change. You can't give the characters the ability to shoot the left right leg of a fly from a hundred yards in one episode and then shooting out the ammo enough to an army at close range without hitting anybody in another one.

The big gunfights throw me out of mood this way, just llike they did in last season when they clashed with Collier and his men. Aside from this, this was a business as usual episode - which in PoI's case means excellent twists and great character options. RIP Scarface. December 16th is too far away :(

  26. Amazing episode. R.I.P Scarface

  27. One thing I'll always love about the show: They don't let bad guys go out like pussies. RIP Anthony. Least know you'll be united with Hersh (probably)!

  28. I can't stand people who are still so mad at that that they've stopped watching. Move the hell on people.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh Scarface!! RIP.. What a grant way did you go down. Any episode which is Elias heavy is always a treat to watch. So now it's going to be full on gang war and on top of it Samaritan's agents numbers are increased so much so that they are another gang. And out team is one man down with Shaw no way to come out of the hidey hole... Things are not looking bright for our heroes.

    ReplyDelete
  30. just another fantastic ep that raised the stakes in the war to come and leaving some glaring to be answered questions: namely how is Shaw going to be able to operate/as well as the team now that she is squarely on Martine's radar (something/one has to give/go - I vote Martine).... "You can let go"... loved the awkward Root/shaw bits that were oddly hot as well... Really loved the Elias plotline and loved that the old lion still had some tricks up his sleeve and now that Dominic's actions led to Anthony's death, the war has begun in force... It will be interesting to see how far Dominic's investigation of Team Machine goes and if he will run into element's of Samaritan and what the outcome of that will be.... just a really great ep that had me on the edge of my seat

    ReplyDelete
  31. One more thing: the writers are excels them in writing "last words on the phone" scenes. Last year it was Fusco, now between Elias and Anthony, both remains memorable.

    ReplyDelete
  32. After Snowden, I thought POI would end because the truth was more diabolical than even the fiction of POI.

The concept of Samaritan as a dueling government contract to "The Machine" is taking shape and seeing Harold and crew behaving to elude Samaritan is its own justification for Snowden even though they would never admit it. Hopefully that helps to crack the hardest skulls of those so thick headed as to not listen to Greenwald, Poitras, Binney, Assange, Appelbaum, Radack, Drake, etc.

Elias is a great villain in his own right, and it is interesting how they have a necessary alliance with him - I think a good plot line would be to expose Elias to The Machine and Samaritan and see how his criminal enterprise attacks the federal government and Samaritan on behalf of Harold and Reese and his own interests.
    s a
Dominic is a good arc for this season, but I hope to move past that by next season. Elias is stronger.

I like Shaw and Root and the tension in their relationship while they are a team. Seeing Shaw at Root's throat invites a short term treachery/restoration cycle which could put more distance between The Machine and its ability to help Harold and Co elude Samaritan. Maybe Root has caused a rift with Shaw that puts them all in danger and sees at least one of them captured by Samaritan.

I do not know the writers. Who knows what has already been written and shot. Maybe if they read this, it might add to their ideas.

  38. The question is what direction is Person of interest is going in?... true many will say that Scarface's death was needed and important to push the show farther (and some may really believe it) but to what end? if you started watching Person of interest from the beginning you know this is an entirely - entirely different show..... and that's allowing for growth... but with the changes in the show - the real human connection is missing! No sane person can ever deny that the death of Joss Carter was a tremendous loss to Person of Interest and the ratings reflect that... whether you were a CaReese shipper or not. Even those who did not ship Careese did enjoy Taraji P. Henson's portrayal of Joss Carter (Ms.Henson breathe life into that character !) and many were and are affected by Carter's death. As many are affected by Anthony Marconi - Scarface's death (David Valcin) .Some of the fandom say- the Character is Died get over it! And they have they've stop watching the show! As for the direction of the show- it is becoming more robotic for me at this point with no more chemistry between anyone.. romantic or otherwise - but there is no reason to argue about these things- the Ratings tell it all!

  42. As a whole, it had pretty good moments but I think this is one of the episodes you just have to rewatch to get your thoughts straight (which I haven't done yet).
It bugged me a little that the "Team Elias goes somewhere, Brotherhood shows up, run, repear" element was getting a little repetitive but in the end I think it was wrapped up good, though I would never have thought they'd put so much emotion in there. It humanzied Elias, though, so I think it was a good decision.
I'll miss Scarface but I think this was a big twist to Elias' storyline - he'll probably be way more aggressive and not so much looking to avoid damage outside of the gang war. I can see him getting a big problem for Team Machine (and they >will< question their former alliance when the day comes).

The Samaritan plot continued as well, which I always enjoy when they do that. For me, this is currently the thing I'm the most excited about. Not sure where they're taking that and how things continue (next 3 episodes'll be pretty myth heavy, I suspect).
It wasn't an awesome episode to me, but pretty good

    ReplyDelete
  43. I just am so glad they didn't kill off Elias-yet anyway! That was who I was fearing would bite the bullet!

  44. It was a tremendous episode, in so many ways!

^THIS. It's a gold mine for some awesome story lines. Who knows how many 'innocents' from the Brotherhood will get caught up in Elias' revenge against Dominic. They could be family members, friends or even low level Brotherhood members (Remember back to S1, Elias had the family members of HR followed by murderers). And if the Machine gives their numbers to Harold and co., they will definitely be going up against Elias. I would really prefer it if that happens. Let there be some grey in Team Machine's relationship with Elias and not be too chummy just because he is the devil they know. If it comes down to saving a life/ live, then Team Machine has to disregard Elias too. Can't get into bed with the devil and let things slide.

  47. You're nitpicky I see.

  48. Jesus just stop. I liked Carter but she was never this show's linchpin nor was she the best thing on TV. Shipping, really? Just leave if you don't like it because honestly I don't even want to argue about this.

  49. I feel bad for Elias he lost his best friend.

  50. Someone probably mourns Wash.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I liked his loyalty to Elias. I admire it. But yeah he's terrific.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Is it just me or did Root look kinda turned on when Shaw grabbed her by the throat?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I thought this episode was much better than last week's. Something about Elias being in an episode always elevates it a level. And I was so relieved that only the safe got blown up and not the entire building with Elias in it! (I must have missed the part where Elias' side man got shot, I must have been too busy looking at Reese and it was such a fast scene). I don't know what all of their Latin phrases were. Does anyone know? And where was that beach that Elias was walking on at the end of the show? That blond lady villain (Samaritan) reminds me of Schwarzenegger's Terminator - she seems almost robotic/non human. The Shaw/Root scenes tonight, in my opinion, were kind of week. I like it better when the machine talks to Root and she follows it all around, blasting things away, grabbing people away from what they're doing to help follow the machine's orders. And I don't know if it's the writing or her deadpan-ness, but Shaw's storyline isn't too interesting to me now. But she sure is a strong lady. She just seems foolhardy. Why would she rush in to help out, when she knows that she would jeopardize everyone's cover? Her being a former agent/assassin, you'd think she'd know to be a little more careful. Anyway, a suspense-filled episode, Elias' acting was impeccable; this actor is also in Flashpoint and he was in the TV series "Just Shoot Me" many years ago when he had more hair. Very evident to me.........in all of these scenes, was that, with so many of them needing to lay low, that I wish Joss Carter was still alive, Fusco's former parter, to help them all out. I feel a huge gap since her character was killed off. But, because of Reese mostly, I still like the show. I would like it more if H.R. would re-emerge, just to confuse things even more.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Me, too. I was so relieved when only the safe got blown up - even though Scarface died, I had thought everyone in the building would get blown up. Phew! Elias will be in more episodes!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yes, these two are toying with the viewing audience, playing up their "tension" between these two pretty women and it sure works.

    ReplyDelete
  56. What did the Latin phrases mean in the episode? (Scarface said one before the safe blew up & before he died), and then Elias said another one at the very end. Also, which beach were they showing at the very end of the episode? Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Scarface's was "Morior invictus" (I die unvanquished), Elias' was "Invictus maneo" (I remain unvanquished)

  58. Thank you so much! I love it. Those quotes are awesome.

  59. One of the worst characters in "24" history.
    (24 SPOILERS BELOW)
She doesn't deserve mourning. She was two totally different characters between the two seasons, and her love story with Jack made absolutely zero sense. They spent a couple of hours together on the day they met (DAY 7) and then didn't see each-other again for almost two full years and when they do, they're both in totally different places in their lives yet somehow they are madly in love. When she died Jack mourned like they'd been married for decades yet they'd known each-other for less than 24 hours.
