Fun episode and now the team may have an asset ( the agent Shaw had personally trained in her previous life) inside Relevant. Heard Control mentioned so she may be showing up soon. Looks like Bear is moving into action next week.
another fantastic ep that gave us a lot of fun dialogue, with some flirty heat between Shaw and Root as well as Tomas... very interesting forwarding into Samaritan's plans to influence the future as well as the current as a means of control, and I guess we see who the target that Samaritan will be closing in on... like the idea that Team Machine got a couple of new allies in Tomas (possibly could pop up again in the future) and Griggs, (but I'd have to think that it wouldn't end well for Griggs since he's so close to Samaritan's control).... love this show
Another amazing episode. I throw around the word epic for a lot of POI episodes, but IMHO, it is well deserved.
First off. Oh boy!! Didn't Sarah Shahi look her seductive best tonight? There is no doubt that she is insanely beautiful.*hubba hubba*
Lots of great moments.
It was great seeing Shaw kick the asses of Romeo and the others
Good twist with the virus being the actual thing stolen and not some jewels. Great side mission for Harold and Root.
Amazing to see the Relevant agents and one of them was Ashur. The other blonde chick was scary too - the way she executed the targets with a cold look on her face was chilling. I would love to see them again in the future. So, Research/Control may not come to know what Grice did, but Samaritan knows. And now it is locked up on Shaw. I don't think Agent Grice may live long. Martine is definitely going to find him.
Excellent episode, I like how the script of David Slack bring some solid developments to the narrative. I like they gave us a Shaw centric episode, btw she was sexy and hot (you rocks Sarah Shahi).
The best part was when they bring the relevant side to narrative, I miss that part (this means that Control will return in some point? I hope so) and was good surprise bring Shaw's apprentice at this point, I look foward to him more on the show.
About the plan to stop Samaritan, Finch is right, they make something for the great good, but stop the that guy to make something good for the people was little bit wrong, I think the writers want us to think about how far 'team machine' will go to stop this enemy.
One thing I don't understand - if the tablet guy was doing pure good after all, then why did Samaritan go after Root's phone once she accessed the guy's computer? If there was no evil behind it, no connection to Samaritan's all-encompassing surveillance, how/why did Samaritan target Root's phone in the first place?
I think it was that Samaritan was going to use the guy's tablets for its own nefarious purposes, which is why it went after Root's phone. The guy and his tablets weren't evil, in fact they would have been beneficial, which is why Finch was upset. He destroyed something that could have had a positive impact on the world all because of Samaritan's intentions for the tablets.
Crimson 6 deleted the video from where? His own computer? That would not make sense. Or did he have access to the building's servers? Or... did he actually have some sort of access to Samaritan (without knowing what it really is) and tried to delete the video from the 'global database'?
Maybe I'm even more paranoic than Finch is, but I see both cases as Samaritan's effort to lure Team Machine out of their hidings. To drop a bait which fits into their goal pattern and then trying to get a grip on them. The scene with deleting the video in the end is a big question mark to me too - how could a field operative have access to data files?
Plus, in homes there are usually no surveillance systems inside - but with a tablet and its camera Samaritan could have had an eye in every families' homes.
A field operative would have the basic know how of hacking and erasing feeds (remember, in the past they did the research), but banks security is a bit much if you ask me. Maybe they got Feed acces in advance of the mission to plan their attack, that makes sense actually, they would need to delete their own presence there afterwards.

I think he did delete it from their system, I think the government operatives have their network but don't know about what exactly Research 2.0 is. There was need to delete it anyway, at least from the buildung's servers (or they'd notice there were government operatives there). So I guess it was deleted on the original server and then Crimson 6 deleted it from the seemingly "ultimate" government network, but of course Samaritan knew something was going on and then restored it
I was surprised in a very positive way. The case was funny at first but later got pretty serious and had some nice twists. Plus, we got a load of main arc going on, which I loved.
when an black ops operative is in the field they r given enough equipments to hack/hide their foot prints .and also they have samaritan (big bad) help .
it was an awesome episode . but i doubt shaws cover is blown . in this ep reese took the backseat ,and i m positive the midseason finale reese gonna take point.i m freaking out abt the midseason death rumour .. what abt u guys???
Either I misunderstood the scene or everybody above my question.
To me it seemed as if Devon wanted to clear not their actions but Shaw's appearance. And not from the bank security files but from the uplink to Control/Samaritan.
Were it about hiding their own tracks he wouldn't need to wait until Brooke leaves and pretend that he finished working on the computers. To me the "message" was that he tried to save Shaw (who - as far as he knew - was thought to be dead) and wanted to hide her presence from the Big Brother. (Additional argument: if deleting the video had served just an operative precaution, and were it a standard procedure, Samaritan wouldn't have checked it instantly and tried to recap the other persons data.)
I was thinking that Shaw's cover will be blown; it showed like the restored feed/film was starting to show her face............I hope her cover is not blown. Then all of their covers might be blown.
Good episode. Not as good as some previous episodes, but still good enough to keep me wanting more! Not enough Reese! Seeing that agent that Shaw trained start to have doubts about assassinating relevant numbers, and his blond-haired female partner did not have doubts and just said that they should just follow orders...........reminds me of when Shaw was with her original male partner and he had doubts, and Shaw originally did not have doubts; she just told him to follow orders............and then after he was killed, she *definitely* had doubts. Interesting. Believe it or not, I would have liked a more interesting irrelevant "number." Of course Tomas was handsome and had some chemistry with Shaw, but, to me, he didn't have the pull or excitement that other numbers did. I also like it when they have more flashbacks. But hey, it's still good. :)
Yes, I would like Control to return. Also...........there must be some remnants of H.R. H.R. could not have completely disappeared because the head was captured? I cannot see that "door" being closed so easily. Corrupt officers/politicians find a way to squirm back in and create a new H.R.type of corrupt system.
I think Devon wanted to clear both his actions of letting Shaw & Tomas go, and also to clear Shaw's face showing up (to save Shaw). But it looks like he might get killed in the process.
i think samaritan will end up sowing not sufficient data available and it will go into surveillance mode .thats when the relevant side starts retracing shaws footsteps
So, basically, Samaritan hands out computers with fake secure deletion routines in the operating system. I was patting Crimson Six on the back for overwriting the file he was deleting and darnit! Samaritan was still able to retrieve the file. Fun having a good deed back fire. I'm guessing we'll be seeing this team again.
Enjoyed the ep quite a bit. Was actually hoping the thief would hang around the series for a bit. Though I fear that the job in South America means he's the target. He and Shaw were fun. I did find myself wishing that Finch could have that philosophical discussion with the machine directly. Though I'm not certain that he's accepted The Machine's sentience yet.
I think the show is also is moving toward asking The Machine to think about that question. I feel like the question of 'doing anything or crossing any line' to reach the greater goal (even if that goal is the greater good) will become the center of the difference between Samaritan and The Machine
Well, he said that more as a general conclusion, that in the whole code, there was just a single line that looked suspicious and even that one line did not have to be malicious at all.
I interpreted that is Samaritan, being on the guy's computer, recognized Root's attempt to hack the guys computer so it decided to investigate.
The question of whether the tablets were definitely meant for evil was, for me, left up in the air. Finch said 'innocent' and Root said 'guilty.' I'm with Finch though...I voted innocent. Especially if the question of the ends justifying the means is going to be a continuing thread.
Probably, the machine have her moment last season in the episode "Death Benefit", now Samaritan have the same perpective (of do the wrong to make right) in this one. For me like Root said in "Prophets", Finch will the x factor between the two machines, I think his creation will never be so radical like Samaritan, because she care about what Harold thinks.
I thought they explained it quite well by referring to Fiedel Castro.
There was no evil behind the tablets. Not now, not in the future. The Samaritan developed this project ONLY to improve the new Governor's PR results and stabilise his position (I'm not from the USA so I don't know the regulations but I thought that after the previous Governor's death there should be another election - so maybe the Samaritan wanted to ensure his victory). All the evil would come later.
And look - now it seems like he wasted 12 million dollars. So it's not surprising that the Samaritan wanted to prevent such a tragedy from happening.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Ashur from Spartacus, great surprise hahahaaah

ReplyDeleteAh, so you're saying the tablets WOULD be used for evil after all, even though the OS did not contain any malicious code YET?
ReplyDeleteCorrect.

Another brilliant episode. Once again the perfect combination of bone dry humor, action, adventure, and character development. Best series on TV.

ReplyDeleteI think Finch said there was a suspicious line on the code
ReplyDeleteThat's the eternal conflict about progress. For example, techniques in medicine comes from sometimes cruel experiments on animals and humans.

Quinn is in prison, but not dad, he could return in the future with remain corrupt cops, like you I would love see H.R. back.
