I was so happy Christian was exposed for who he really was and then they did that. Damn it, Ward, he was supposed to live with what he did and have everyone know it! But I still think this is just the start of a very long redemptive arc. Christian was just one of his abusers, after all.
And whoa at Skye's dad. Not convinced that's her mom yet. Good episode.
OMG all I can think about is the fact that Whitehall may have killed Skye's mother!!! or at least we know the Doctor wants to kill Whitehall, The Dad-off between Coulson and The Doctor was chilling, he pretty much is a psycho, great acting! If that was Skye's mother then what is she? I continue to believe Ward's character can not be redeemed as he did kill his parents too! and then went back to Hydra! Like come on! his death count is at least 12 or 13 now, and he is way to interesting as the anti-hero. I can't wait to see what roll Skye plays in this city plot, and it was cool seeing her fighting clone May again. Until Dec 2nd
my honest theory is Ward forced him to kill his parents, just like he was forced to almost kill his brother, as the "suicide tape" was from the earlier conversation which indicates pre-planning
Loved the episode. I want to believe that Ward can be redeemed but he definitely is going to have a hard time doing it. I'm still am holding out hope that he's playing some kind of angle by going rogue and siding with Hydra again. That was kind of cool how they left the death of Christian Ward as open to interpretation...either Grant assisted in their deaths or Christian really did commit murder-suicide.
Kyle MacLachlan was great as Skye's father! They really casted him well when they chose Kyle. All of his scenes were phenomenal and that scene with him going up against Coulson was amazing!!! I hope he sticks around for the whole season!
Iain de Caestecker just continually amazes me! Love Fitz and love the journey the writers have him on this season!
I'm not sure about The Doctor yet... I think grief and vengeance made him mad, yes. And he does resent Coulson but I'm not sure he really wants him dead. I think said so because he wanted Whitehall to trust him so he'll get to give him a taste of his own medicine... As for Ward, Argh! I just never know what to make of him at the end of every episode. I don't know what he is but he's not Hydra. He'll probably team up with The Doctor and I can't begin to imagine what those 2 mad men will do together. It,s refreshing how absolutely unpredictable this tv show is!
By far the best episode right now!!! Skyes father is going to kill Whitehall. Ward murdering his parents and Christian... WOW! December 2 needs to hurry up and come.
Skye's father is by far more scary than Whitehall.
I agree I actually think the Doctor's primary objective is to kill Whitehall, and maybe show A.C who Skye's actual father is. And I agree on Ward, I think its hard to ever think of him as a hero again, when he keeps making some awful decisions, over and over.
I was so upset I missed the murder-suicide part. Maybe Christian did have a meltdown once he saw his abusers again? And Grant maybe encouraged it and that's not good either way but I'll take it over him killing them.
And it's going to be a long, long, long road to redemption and I like that they're taking a different alternate route from most shows.
I think you may be right. I did find it odd when, after Christian confessed, Grant just took the confession, patted him on his back and said "let's go home".
that, and the way Whitehall brought it up and he didn't deny playing a role, the suicide tape was the same as the conversation at the well which also meant that someone had to record it, he was just too chillingly calm the whole time
That Grant/Christian confrontation was awesome. I have been waiting to see these two meet since season one and I was so damn satisfied with it. Grant's abusive ass brother finally got what was coming for him and Grant finally learned the truth about what happened at the well. But something is very fishy about Christian's death. I don't know, all of a sudden he just breaks down and kills his parents and then himself? I can't wait to see where the show is going with this because there is definitely something more than meets the eye here.
Kyle MacLachlan continues to be such a great addition the show. The scene where he accidentally told Coulson that he knew who he was was pretty damn great. The man is one creepy fellow. They will definitely see each other again and I can't wait to see it. Papa Coulson is going to protect his daughter Skye in every way that he can. "We'll find you. And when we do, you and I will finish this conversation" Oh yes you will! And I was so glad to see that Triplett made it out alive (though I was pretty sure he would anyway). Now give that man some more backstory!
There was always chemistry floating around between Lance and Bobbi since they reunited and I'm so glad that they finally gave in to their temptations. Damn, that was a pretty hot scene! I had to fan myself after that XD Also, Rheinhart/Whitehall removing all the bone marrow, blood, and organs from that woman had to have been the most gruesome scene the show has ever done so far. Yikes! Looks like he had to do everything he can to de-age himself.
Fitz being able to go back in the field again was so awesome to watch. I smiled so hard when he was able to get the system online. Great job, Turbo! He was sorely missed. Now what is the city called?!?! Ohhhh, they just had to end it there! And was Whitehall the person that caused Skye's mom to die and that's why The Doctor seems to be going after him?! Can't wait for December 2nd!
Really enjoying the engaging layers of story telling, action, mystery, mythology and character development that SHIELD continues to deliver each week this season. It's by far the best network comic book/comic book inspired series on television that actually feels like it was written with adults in mind.
Yup, I'm on The Doctor's(Skye's father) side. Right when it said 44 years, did the math, I was like oh shit that's gotta be Skye's mom. That's messed up what Whitehall did.
The Ward situation wow just got even more interesting. That end! did he do it, or was it another ploy. And now he will be working with Skye's dad. shit. These 2 dudes I like em.
Glad Fitz finally got back on the field. Tripp didn't die, thanks to the Mad Doctor haha I liked that scene.
Lance and Bobbi damn their trust problems, If I was Lance I would said OH, when she said her lies stops with him; and said lets be together forever oh lalala...
Holy shit holy shit dichen lachman played Skye's mom I would have never wondered that in 1000 years that Whitehall and her mom are connected. The doctor wants to kill Whitehall which is awesome Ward will never be redeemed yup after this episode I can't see it he has a lot of blood on his hands Christian was abused too both become abusers together what an awesome family!. Fitz atta boy!! He didn't stutter and was able to complete the job so proud. What angle is Bobbi playing she's behaving so suspiciously .Overall amazing episode.
why not she's asian and let's be honest dichen lachman is no small potatoes casting speaking of they did a great job of making the Doctor look young which makes it confusing since he ages but she didn't
christian ward finally got what he deserved, and ward still looks weird with his really short hair and shaven lol, The Doctor is completely insane and Coulson IS skye's father you're nothing to her Doctor
Also aren't they teasing the brainwashing too much Simmons coming in front of bakshi might just pull off the brainwashing switch though I really hope not she's too adorable to be evil.
Posted this elsewhere, but honestly I'm trying to figure out if I still like this show without "FitzSimmons," since that hasn't been a thing since May. They were the best, and I cannot express fully how much I miss them. I want it to be romantic too, but at this point, I'd take anything.
Also, the Doctor is amazing, and I love him. Best villain they've had so far (no offense to Bill Paxton...).
Aside from the recording and Ward saying they were going "home" he had all those matches and accelerants in his duffel bag at the end of last week's episode.
I do miss them when I rewatch old episodes I'm all like why??? Why did they do this you destroyed their relationship but them growing apart was needed to match the darker tone the show has taken Also when they do get together after all this I believe the chemistry will be hot there's nothing hotter than angst.
I really like him to, as a character; he is a horrible human being. I do hope he gets a redemption arc still, but burning your abusive family to death is not the beginning of a redemption arc.
I'm not ashamed to say, Fitz's Tenacious D-style powerslide made me grin like a jackass. LOL
However, the fact that we're only two episodes away from the mid-season hiatus and Fitz & Simmons are STILL no closer to addressing the elephant in the room has me more than a little frustrated.
So Anya died and became Skye's mother. Awesome. This was a solid episode. The show has picked up pace now and I hope they keep this up. I did not want Christian to die. But it was good to see a resolution to the well story.
Skye's father is really amazing. The actor is so great. His whole scene with Coulson was wonderful. So he is against Whitehall. Will he help Shield or burn everything down and go down with it. I wish they had shown how Whitehall got his youth back.
Bobbi and hunter. It was bound to happen. I hope they put a sock on it now that that is done. A great episode. Can't wait to see what the mystery city brings to the game.
This was such an awesome episode. I love how they did the brother against brother scenes - like seriously, WTF is Wards deal? He's just coming across as more and more deluded, and I don't believe we are expected to believe that the Senator 'snapped' on his own - either Ward manipulated him into killing their parents, or most likely he killed them himself - and both options are just so effed up I love it.
Fitzs recovery in the last few episodes was awesome of course he was practising with his bad hand only that's the type of guy he is. They have deliberately keeping them separate for like 8 episode only one episode were they spoke I'm pretty sure we r in for a huge confession/confrontation in the fall finale.
This was EPIC. I've loved this show from the very first episode and it just keeps getting better. Ward is definitely up to something, but what, I have no clue. They really like to keep us guessing, don't they? So now we've seen a glimpse of Skye's mother and we know how Whitehall looks the same as he did in 1945. Fitz is getting his mojo back - yay! :) Loved the bits with Hunter and Bobbi. For all their bickering, they clearly still love each other. Can't wait for the next episode!
Oh yeah, now I'm absolutely convinced that Grant killed his abusive parents and brother and set his house on fire and blamed it all on Christian as a murder-suicide. I knew there was something fishy going on.
This show just get better and better, another strong episode. The best part was the Coulson and The Doctor conversation and of course the reveal of Skye's mother destiny.
At this point, I'm so frustrated with the way they're handling Fitz and Simmons that them brainwashing her wouldn't surprise me at all. Though I'd probably stop watching and let the episodes build up on my DVR at that point.
That's assuming they do get them together, which I kind of don't think is going to happen anymore. If the writer's wanted to build a following for them, they're doing a better job losing support than gaining it with this.
I certainly hope so. I'm getting pretty impatient here. At this point, though, I'm thinking the first half of the season will be about Fitz's recovery and Simmons keeping her distance from him while he heals, and then the second half will be about them finally addressing why she left and (hopefully) Fitz's love confession at the end of season one. But we've got a three month wait for new episodes coming up. I hope they'll throw us throw us a bone at least to tied us over. They've got to give us something.
Oddly enough, even though murdering your parents and brother sounds like the greatest evil imaginable, it doesn't really bother me that Ward did... at least this time he took revenge on the people who tormented him. It's the innocent blood on his hands he needs to pay for.
It would be such a waste if they tried to redeem Ward. He's a lot more fun as the rogue, unpredictable wildcard. Once you aren't committed to making a character a "good guy", you have more freedom in how you write them since you can have them do anything, however immoral.
Not really similar, but I'm thinking of Nyssa al Ghul from Arrow. She can be either an ally or an adversary to Team Arrow at any point, and she's an unrepentant assassin. Imagine how stale she would become if the writers decided to redeem her and have her permanently join the good side.
I floved the end scene, where Skye's bio dad makes it clear that Whitehall is the enemy that he will be taking down and then Ward echos this.....crazy crazy good epi.
This episode had so many twists and turns. I still don't know what to make of Skye's father. The thing I am least interested is the relationship between Hunter and Bobbi Morse. It was fun only for one episode. Now they annoy me. I like both characters separate.
For me...it became clear that Skye's father is obsessively trying to reconnect with her....good or bad....so he is all about his own motivations to that extent. He is definitely using Whitehall and will probably try to kill him, given the way that he found his wife....He is not a good guy for sure, but he is also not totally bad either....
I am with you on Bobbi and Hunter....I like both characters....but separately.....Hunter is hot tho.
Yeah. Ward is definetly crazy. if he really killed his brother and parents. I hope it's just a play he needs to do to get Hydra's trust. Anya is SKYE'S MOTHER O:
I just saw the promo of the next episode and fitz is not there while the whole team is standing in the bus my guess from the interview of Jed and the next episode he's left behind and decides to use that hell machine to fix himself although I dunno why but then they can begin with the Fitzsimmons dynamic PS as much as I love Bobbi and hunter after rewatch I saw they were given 10 min of screentime in almost all episodes whereas Fitzsimmons combined barely got anything in the 8+ episodes and yup its starting to piss me off now.
Both Bobbi and Hunter are extremely likable character. I loved Hunter's scenes with Fitz, Skye and Tripp before Bobbi arrived. And during Bobbi's first episode she had fabulous scenes with Simmons. It was refreshing to see our beloved characters interacting with new blood like Mac and Fitz. Now it's all about Hunter and Bobbi and their sexual tension. The problem is we don't know enough about these characters to give a frack about whether they want to jump each other. I hope now that they have jumped each other and it is out of the way we get different team ups.
I rewatched the promo. Fitz is there in that shot of the whole team standing in the bus. He's on the left side of the screen near Mack. His back is to the camera, so it's hard to make him out, but it's definitely him. And I don't think they'd leaving him behind after he just got back in the field successfully.
I feel bad for him (although I wasn't surprised) but he turned it around on his siblings and became an abuser himself. He was still trying to gaslight Grant in Tuesday's episode so while I have sympathy for him, I still don't like him.
I doubt that, as this is the kind of thing that writers do all the time with couples, and it doesn't usually lose the couple much support. I'd be surprised if they didn't get them back together; the only question is if it will be similar to how it was before, or if it will be romantic.
They were never really established as a couple to garner support in the first place though. It's more of an unrequited love affair right now, and I just honestly don't see it anymore. Believe me, I am an ardent FitzSimmons supporter and I would love nothing more than to be wrong, but right now, I just don't see any signs from the writers that they're going to romantically pair them up.
Suppose that's true, but I don't see how they can go back to how it was after all that's happened. Plus, not in the mood to root for a couple that has a fifty percent chance or less of happening.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I was so happy Christian was exposed for who he really was and then they did that. Damn it, Ward, he was supposed to live with what he did and have everyone know it! But I still think this is just the start of a very long redemptive arc. Christian was just one of his abusers, after all.

ReplyDeletemy honest theory is Ward forced him to kill his parents, just like he was forced to almost kill his brother, as the "suicide tape" was from the earlier conversation which indicates pre-planning
ReplyDeleteYeah, something seems off about this. Maybe Ward faked Christian's death or something?
ReplyDeleteand where is he now ward i mean
ReplyDeleteLove tonight's episode. I'm wonder what game Ward is playing. He is a wild card. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI was literally lmao when Hunter said an argument with Bobby could lead to suicide.
He's playing Hydra and Skye's biological father at the same time and I can't wait to see his plan.
ReplyDeleteoh so wow this guy's got balls doesn't he
ReplyDeleteLoved the episode. I want to believe that Ward can be redeemed but he definitely is going to have a hard time doing it. Um I'd say there's a pretty good chance that Grant killed his brother and his parents, and staged it...
ReplyDeleteReally enjoying the engaging layers of story telling, action, mystery, mythology and character development that SHIELD continues to deliver each week this season. It's by far the best network comic book/comic book inspired series on television that actually feels like it was written with adults in mind.
ReplyDeleteThis was a very intricate plot and they weaved it all together masterfully. The pacing was perfect and so were all the characters.
ReplyDeleteYup, I'm on The Doctor's(Skye's father) side. Right when it said 44 years, did the math, I was like oh shit that's gotta be Skye's mom. That's messed up what Whitehall did.

why not she's asian and let's be honest dichen lachman is no small potatoes casting speaking of they did a great job of making the Doctor look young which makes it confusing since he ages but she didn't
ReplyDeleteyeah the timeline adds up, now we get the possibility of a Princess Bride Scene "Hello, my name is Agent Skye you killed my mother prepare to die"

It always unsettles me how you speak of Ward.
ReplyDeleteI really like him to, as a character; he is a horrible human being. I do hope he gets a redemption arc still, but burning your abusive family to death is not the beginning of a redemption arc.
I think Ward killed them all; he told Christian "we are going home" and then everyone but him shows up dead, house burning an all.
ReplyDeleteIt's more plausible that Ward just took Christian there to kill all of them than pretty much every other scenario.
Amazing episode and awesome one also. I can't believe everything. And so we now know who her mother is.
ReplyDeleteI'm not ashamed to say, Fitz's Tenacious D-style powerslide made me grin like a jackass. LOL
ReplyDeleteHowever, the fact that we're only two episodes away from the mid-season hiatus and Fitz & Simmons are STILL no closer to addressing the elephant in the room has me more than a little frustrated.

ReplyDeleteMy theory? When Skye's Dad turns on Whitehall it will turn out he has been brainwashed and Whitehall will tell him to attack Skye.
This was such an awesome episode. I love how they did the brother against brother scenes - like seriously, WTF is Wards deal? Fitz is getting his mojo back - yay! :)
Loved the bits with Hunter and Bobbi. For all their bickering, they clearly still love each other.
Can't wait for the next episode!
I'm upset about it myself but they're taking the long, long, long, long road to redemption and he has a plan and I'm excited to see what it is.
ReplyDeleteAnd LOL, I hit an impressive wall of denial last night about several different storylines.
I had my hopes way up for May to be her biological mom.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, now I'm absolutely convinced that Grant killed his abusive parents and brother and set his house on fire and blamed it all on Christian as a murder-suicide. I knew there was something fishy going on.

Oddly enough, even though murdering your parents and brother sounds like the greatest evil imaginable, it doesn't really bother me that Ward did... at least this time he took revenge on the people who tormented him. It's the innocent blood on his hands he needs to pay for.
ReplyDeleteI find them scary in different ways. Whitehall dissecting Skye's mom like that was terrifying... he is truly the MCU version of Dr. Mengele.
ReplyDeleteExactly, Grant wouldn't have bothered to record Christian if he wasn't already planning to kill him & their parents and then pin it all on Christian.
ReplyDeleteIt would be such a waste if they tried to redeem Ward. He's a lot more fun as the rogue, unpredictable wildcard. Once you aren't committed to making a character a "good guy", you have more freedom in how you write them since you can have them do anything, however immoral.

He is definitely using Whitehall and will probably try to kill him, given the way that he found his wife....He is not a good guy for sure, but he is also not totally bad either....
ReplyDeleteI am with you on Bobbi and Hunter....I like both characters....but separately.....Hunter is hot tho.
Yeah. Ward is definetly crazy. if he really killed his brother and parents. I hope it's just a play he needs to do to get Hydra's trust.
ReplyDeleteAnya is SKYE'S MOTHER O:
Man the ending was great to know what happen too Skye's Father and mother it was just Wow .
ReplyDeleteYes. I love evil Ward. So happy they didn't go the "forgive and forget" route!!!
ReplyDeleteI just saw the promo of the next episode and fitz is not there while the whole team is standing in the bus my guess from the interview of Jed and the next episode he's left behind and decides to use that hell machine to fix himself although I dunno why but then they can begin with the Fitzsimmons dynamic
ReplyDeletePS as much as I love Bobbi and hunter after rewatch I saw they were given 10 min of screentime in almost all episodes whereas Fitzsimmons combined barely got anything in the 8+ episodes and yup its starting to piss me off now.
ReplyDeleteI rewatched the promo. Fitz is there in that shot of the whole team standing in the bus. He's on the left side of the screen near Mack. His back is to the camera, so it's hard to make him out, but it's definitely him. And I don't think they'd leaving him behind after he just got back in the field successfully.
ReplyDeleteI think you are on to something.....I think it is a set up to fool Hydra......
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think of Christian being an abuse victim himself? That was interesting.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for him (although I wasn't surprised) but he turned it around on his siblings and became an abuser himself. He was still trying to gaslight Grant in Tuesday's episode so while I have sympathy for him, I still don't like him.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting for you to say.
ReplyDeleteI doubt that, as this is the kind of thing that writers do all the time with couples, and it doesn't usually lose the couple much support.
ReplyDeleteI'd be surprised if they didn't get them back together; the only question is if it will be similar to how it was before, or if it will be romantic.
ReplyDeleteSuppose that's true, but I don't see how they can go back to how it was after all that's happened. Plus, not in the mood to root for a couple that has a fifty percent chance or less of happening.
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying, I don't think they'll lose a significant amount of support. Also, I don't think it's that unlikely.
