  1. I'm so happy I could cry. This is the start of the redemptive arc and he's hunting down Hydra agents for them and aldskdlksajf;aljsdf. And the shirtless shaving scene was an added bonus.

And whoa, a city? I'm scared.

  2. I'm going to be very honest, I loved the episode I liked the fact that Skye got some time making decisions, and we got some answers but after this episode I think that there is very little redemption left for Ward. Sure, he wants to give Skye hydra agents, but look at what he was doing when Skye was not in play. Anyone who is trying for redemption does not threaten to blow up a city block filled with innocent people. I am excited to see Skye's father back next week...and to get some more answers

  3. SHIELD is firing on all cylinders. It's the best comic book/comic book inspired show on television by far.

  4. Ward was my favorite character but after tonight all I can think of is 'yep, he's a sociopath'. So frustrating because I really thought they were going to go the redemption angle but now not so much...

  5. Oh, this is the start of the redemption arc. He was never going to actually blow up people - he just needed them off his tail.

And I am so excited about this.

    ReplyDelete
  6. But nobody without sociopathic tendencies even threatens to blow people up! like nobody does that!

  7. Well, he is mentally ill right now after a lifetime of abuse and never got treatment for it so that's still worrying me. He's still suicidal, I think.

  8. its about time we found what these drawing means.... now where is this city?
Ward is str8 badass. he is what i would call a Anti-hero
i'm glad everyone finally knows whats wrong with Phil

  9. Really liked the way the plot is going now. Love the reveal of the code being a city. And glad Coulson seems like he will be back to normal now I was worried about him in this crazy state.

Nice to see Skye step up this episode and really seem to take charge. And a plot that involves her and doesn't involve her dad for a change so far this season is great.

Still loving Mack and Fitz friendship moments. If they kill Mack I would be so sad I think it would break Fitz's heart. Sad to see the distance still between him and Simmons though. That being said neither of them are the most observant at times. Simmons was the only one who noticed Skye in the cage on the camera while they sat there for how long not even seeing it.

Ward is still an awful piece of garbage and I don't trust that man at all. I think he could maybe, just maybe be redeemed or go the anti-hero route at some point but not any time soon.

LOL at them questioning Hunters disguise as a cowboy and saying there is no way he wasn't seen.

  10. Sucks for the people that bailed on this show last season. 2nd half of last season was good and the start of the this season has been absolutely great.

  11. Great episode!

Coulson broke my heart a few times during the hour. Just seeing him getting worse and worse was pretty damn heartbreaking. Also, I loved that he finally got everyone together at The Playground and told them everything that is happening with him/with the Words of Creation. I've been waiting to see that.

Ward was probably my favorite part of the episode. His character is so damn interesting and he is definitely not loyal to HYDRA or SHIELD. And it looks like they are starting his redemption little by little with him kidnapping HYDRA agents and leaving them for SHIELD to pick up as a gift. That's pretty nice of him I think. Also, that scene where he instantly knew Bobbi was a SHIELD agent was fantastic. It shows that he is still a pretty damn good spy and hasn't lost any of it. Now he's going to have a little chat with his abusive ass brother and I can't wait to see it. It's going to be epic.

I continue to love that Skye is finally knowing what's going on with Coulson. She is a big help to the big mystery but I don't think that his compulsions are truly gone. We may see more of them in the future but who knows.

Now to the Words of Creation reveal! I knew that it was going to be something huge happening but I didn't expect a city! There are so many possible theories as to what the city is but many people are theorizing that the city is Attilan (AKA home of the Inhumans) which would be amazing to watch if it's actually true and so damn cool to explore.

  12. You took the words out of my mouth! I agree with everything you've said.

    ReplyDelete
  13. You know, I heard that they'd start dropping "Inhumans" easter eggs well in advance of the movie, but I was skeptical if we'd get some THIS early.

    ReplyDelete
  14. This show just continues to get better and better!!!

Much of what I was thinking has already been said so I'm going to try to highlight things that have not been said.

    1. Anyone else feel like BJ Britt is severely underused? It just seems like Tripp's only been used as a filler character and has had no real significance yet. For example: Mack, who was introduced this season, has much more of a presence than Tripp has, who was introduced last season. Hopefully that'll change and hopefully he won't be the agent down in next week's episode.

    2. As much as I like having the sane Coulson back, I feel a little sad that the crazy Coulson is gone. lol

    3. (This might be a little rabbit traily so bear with me.) If this whole theory of Skye being an Inhuman is correct, I think Coulson only has to look to her to see that, because she never got the urge to draw, she must already know (in her subconsciousness) what city they are looking for. And, if she is an Inhuman, that must mean that the city that they are looking for is Atillan!

    4. If the Inhuman theory is correct, I wonder if they are going to mention them in Avengers: Age of Ultron considering how much they are being discussed on the show.

  15. Ward's a psycho... unfortunately, characters like that are always going to have fangirls willing to make excuses for them.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I totally agree with you on Tripp and it's very likely that the mission to track down the Obelisk could cost him his life :/ He needs to have a big arc or at least some more backstory on him other than his grandfather being a Howling Commando which is unfortunately, the only thing we know about him personally. He's a great character and deserves to be explored more in a couple seasons or so down the line IMO (well everyone in Coulson's team really).

    ReplyDelete
  17. Absolutely and, beating a dead horse here, if it gets canceled people are going to be kicking themselves for not watching it.

  18. THIS SHOW IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!, ward taking down HYDRA whoa that's freaking awesome and he's on his redemptive arc and the Writing is a freaking city didn't expect that now the question is is it on Earth or... hmm and fitz and jemma damn it it's like she hates mack because the way he's with fitz

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think the show is suffering from too many characters Syndrome. Its creating some issues for character screentime.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yeah, Simmons had like what? Two scenes at the most throughout the episode? It was definitely noticeable.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I actually prefer him like that, makes him interesting, Brett Dalton could really play a complex super villain vigilante-esque anti-hero well, and it would be a great foil to the SHIELD team

    ReplyDelete
  22. BD is very talented. Any time you have a visceral 'I wanna punch that guy in the face' reaction to a fictional character, you gotta give props to the person portraying them.

    ReplyDelete
  23. exactly! this new side to his character really gave him the opportunity to sink his teeth into the role, where as "SHIELD AGENT WARD" with a dark past etc. was pretty generic as a crafted character tbh

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think next week's episode is make or break for Ward. We'll know exactly what happened with his brother in the confrontation and we'll see what he'll do about it now. From there we might be able to get a grasp of where his character is going. My fingers are crossed for anti-hero because that's the most interesting path.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I like Tripp, I really do and I hope I'm wrong... but I think they might kill him next week :(

    ReplyDelete
  26. From a writing standpoint his character's development (for lack of a better term) is pretty brilliant. The fangirls wanting to turn him into their woobie is something I can do without.

    ReplyDelete
  27. On the speculation side here is a photo from the on set live tweet...taking a break...but look at chloe 's makeup she looks pretty beat up, I think they must be filming 2x11 now so stuff goes down

    ReplyDelete
  28. Loved the ep! we finally got a close to the manic carving plot and the reveal of the map to a city plot (and with the recent Marvel movie reveals, I'm going to guess that it's a map of the city of the Inhumans? perhaps as that is one theory of what Skye's father/and presumably Skye are...) really enjoying how the season has gone and am looking forward to seeing where things go

    ReplyDelete
  29. Good thing the Random Etchers are out of the picture now. The Writing on the Walls have a meaning. Its a Map to a some Mysterious City, that the Blue Alien came for during or before the times of the pyramids. The whole crew knows now, and I guess the search will be in the back end of the episodes. That's ok.

Best part of the episode was Ward in Action tho. That was fun to watch. And by the end of it he was ready for some action. Skye basically has the phone superheroes give to gals they like so they can call for help.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I like him more now.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Its called a Tactical advantage. A bluff only those not trusted by the good guys can pull off.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Just thought I'd point out that they never mentioned whether or not Ward killed those agents that were transporting him at the end of the last episode. I was really curious about that. :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. Another awesome episode.....this show is getting better every episode:)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wow I love seeing bakshi in jail huh that's gonna be awesome
The alien plot is over thank god it was sorta boring me
Jemma hates macks guts lol which is very funny proves you don't always need a girl to bring out jealousy mack and his pal turbo (I love the nickname suits fitz to tee) playing video games warms my heart he's doing it because it helps him focus that's also great.
Ward ugh no comment the guy has his own agenda and that's never good but was fun him coming back to the team dont seem possible this season and i hope never hes great as a baddie

    ReplyDelete
  35. It does bother me how we get like 2 minutes of fitz and Simmons these days hunter had 2 big episodes its OK though I do want to see my favourites in action too.

    ReplyDelete
  36. So is the city Attilan or somewhere else? The Inhumans makes the most sense right now, but could it be a place the alien was searching for rather than his home town.

    ReplyDelete
  37. AoS just upped its game. I loved this episode. The whole mythology of carving and Tahiti came together very nicely. I am not a fan of Coulson. He is too cartoony for me sometimes but man he was awesome this episode slowly loosing his mind. That last team meeting was very satisfying to see. To see our heroes get one step ahead of Hydra. Comic book fans any idea which city that might be?

Ward lost his beard. I cried for the beard. I loved the beard. :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. I agree. Hunter and Bobbi are/were great but I think those two have kind of overstayed their welcome. Don't get me wrong, I love the characters; I think their characters have been very well written and their scenes together. It's just time that they leave and allow the other characters who have been there to have more of air time. The only new character I don't want to see them depart with is Mack, simply because I love the scenes he has with Fitz.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Excellent episode, I love the clear the way to show more of the writing, now I hope the city is a Inhuman city, I think we will find out next year by the end of the season, actually the answers could be come early with Age of Ultron and than AoS end with a big cliffhanger.

    ReplyDelete
  40. That is my fear too and I hope it's wrong.

There are two other possibilities that I can think of as to who goes down next week.
    1. Hunter. While I would hate to see him go like that, it would open the door for Tripp to become a lead on the team again and for BJ Britt to have more screen time. And, for those who are complaining about the fact that Bobbi belongs with Hawkeye, this would free her from the possibility of a relationship with Hunter.

    2. Mack. I really don't want him to be the one simply because it would devastate Fitz. But, it would open the door for more Fitz and Simmons interaction which has been lacking on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I agree. I don't think it would have been right for the producers to have him come back in Season 2 only to sit in the back seat and then die. There has to be more to his story and I hope we get to learn more about him in the episodes to come. Preferably with him alive to tell it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think Tripp is safe...remember he was spotted on the Avengers set? So he should be OK until the spring at least! Unless that rumour was a plant, in which case I think Tripp is the most likely to go. That would suck. I love Tripp and they need to use him more, not get rid of him.
I don't want them to kill anyone...I'm really liking all of the new characters. I do agree that they need to focus more on the originals, though.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm far from a fan of Ward or the idea of redeeming him, but I'm going to play devil's advocate: he could've easily been bluffing about blowing up a city block. He knew they wouldn't take the risk that he wasn't.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Unfortunately, B.J. Britt (Trip) having been spotted on the Age of Ultron set is just a rumor at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm not one to defend Ward, but I think we're supposed to assume that he didn't kill any of the agents on the transport. He could easily incapacitate them without killing, and trying to get back in Coulson's good graces by capturing Hydra agents would be pointless if he had just killed some innocent people.

    ReplyDelete
  46. So I guess everyone is getting their own Lost-style scene of getting ready for their day with retro music in the background? First Simmons, now Ward. Anyone want to guess what songs they'll pick for other characters?

    ReplyDelete
  47. You know Marvel won't introduce Inhumans storyline into the show after the movie airs which is a pretty long time lol.

The show is part of MCU and pretty sure the city will lead up to Age of Ultron and the after math of the film will continue on in S.H.I.E.L.D

    ReplyDelete
  48. If the city is really bout Inhumans then only way they will introduce them is if the episode of the discovery of the city leads up to the film and that won't happen till 2018 and pretty sure AOS won't be on the air that long lol.

Also i getting the feeling this city will be tied in with Avengers 2 seeing as Thor 2 and CAWS was tied in and also the fact Marvel likes to use the "it's all connected" for the MCU also the aftermath of the film will continue on AOS as usually.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Since they didn't say anything about it, I'm assuming Ward let the agents live, but them not addressing it made me raise an eyebrow.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm not sure about Ward, he could go either way, I'm fine with a redemption arc as long as he earns it (which he hasn't), but doesn't Bakshi being there worry you? One interpretation of Ward saying he'd bring him close enough to shoot Coulson could be an "exact word" situation and he did play him OR Bakshi asked to be put there deliberately... if Simmons, unbeknownst to her, is brainwashed, then what better chance would Bakshi get? We technically didn't see Ward and Bakshi's full conversation.
And even if Ward isn't planning on that and he really did just want to hand Bakshi over, there's still the chance that Simmons is Hydras's secret trump card. Either way, I don't like the ideia of Whitehall's right hand man being there. It spells all sorts of evil for me.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Agreed 100% If Ward is going to hit rock bottom and begin his long and arduous redemption arc, if he's going full on crazy or full on villain than it'll probably be with next week's episode. Either way, I know it's gonna be an exciting one!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah, after this episode, I don't know why ANYONE would think Ward is on the path to redemption. Sure, he's a man on a mission, but certainly not on a mission to heal or improve himself. Anyone who thinks that he's turning "good" is a VERY poor judge of character. Or just living in a delusion.

But I'm just gonna try and ignore the fans and shippers and just enjoy villainous, I'm-gonna-fuck-your-shit-up Ward. He's good at being bad.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It's freaking ATTILAN! I'm so excited!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  54. i really like how instead of the (kinda cliche) way of redemption, Ward, away from anyone's supervision and direction, is proving to be kind of a sociopath! :)
