this was a hell of an episode i didn't expect that much emotion to come out of me at the end, this is becoming one of my favorite shows, DC's rocking it with their shows
Best episode so far, this was really dark and twisted in all the right ways. I admit I figured out the ending once we had the Shaman trip but I wasn't really sure they'd go there, no last minute happy ending. I was glad Constantine gave Gary the choice, I admit it wasn't much of a choice, figured he'd do it no matter what Gary said but it worked for me.
Im really digging John and Zed is growing on me but I missed Chas. We also need more from the Angel, Im really curious about him and find his interactions with Constantine interesting.
The bug special effects were exceptional. Gary Lester was really well portrayed by Jonjo O'Neill. I thought everyone would love this episode as much as I did.
The scale of the episode was incredibly grand and with such an amazing score by Bear McCreary.
First of all! Thank god that Psychic Paper is back. I don't know how he got it back from the homeless dude, I don't care as long as he has it back.
And woa, what and episode, usually when episode bio mention a character will have to make a sacrifice, its some soft core one, but here damn Constantine made a big one and it was nice to see Angel Manny come for support at the end. Seems like the Angles in this one may act a little hostile, but take their work and moral good seriously.
This episode was pretty good. I am glad to see that they made the show scarier!! It was definitely needed. I think they also need to now work on the backstory and character development of the characters....provide some why should people care moments.....
I really enjoyed this episode, it allowed us to see the more compassionate, Constantine, I found out a lot more of his past from his friend, that he forgave the past they shared, besides the star of the show has the same name as my favorite QB, yea I'm an Atlanta fan, off topic but, I am loving this show!!
I really liked this episode and the fact that it was so character driven. It took the powerful story from early Hellblazer issue to give us an insight into the character of John and it succedeed, even if the TV Constanine is significantly different form the one we were introduced to in comics. I kind of have a soft spot for the utter bastard John from Hellblazer, who coldly sacrifaced Lester without his consent (!), while the NBC makes the character more comassionate, but it works too. And the final scene was amazingly shot (although I loved the comic version with John geting totally wasted while waiting through his former mate screams in some dirthy alley), somehow highlighting how the sacriface that saved many and kind of gave Gary a chance for redemption (or at least the impression of it), dammned John's soul even more. I only hope the show will continue with simmilar calliber of episodes.
Either way he got it back which is cool. I mainly said he got the original back because he said it had a long story to it. So maybe it was a a unique item. But even on that I have a theory about re creation of unique items but no need to go in to that now.
I saw it myself as well but with the card it shows what the owner desires and that homeless guy desired money lol. the card could basically disappear and return to owner lol
Actually, I remember SPN creators admitted once that Constantine's look (from the comics) was inspiration for Castiel's famous trenchcoat, shirt and loose tie.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
This show just keep getting better and better ..
ReplyDeletemy favorite episode so far and the effects are amazing .

ReplyDeleteThe show has really improved -- wish it had started out on a steadier foot in the earlier episodes.
ReplyDeleteThat ending...just horrifying. Poor Lester. And Constantine. Sitting beside him unable to do anything. I like Manny for joining and praying.

ReplyDeleteCan ratings keep getting better every ep like the quality of this show? Pleassssssssse?
ReplyDeleteThis show is freakin awesome. Yet another "favorite" show that nobody is tuning in to. The other being Hannibal of course. :)
ReplyDeletethis ep blew me off .i can easily see me as a constantine fan in the near future if the ratings pick up.

Great episode. First one that felt like true Hellblazer adaptation, with no real happy endings an every victory having a terrible cost
ReplyDeleteBest episode to date. Better than the pilot.

ReplyDeleteThis show is getting so good, the last 10 minutes were among the most powerful of any broadcast show this season.

I agree with everyone's comments and damn Matt Ryan is so so so so good. The emotion he showed in that last scene, by doing so little..... So good.
ReplyDeleteI dnt think he got it back lol. all he needed was a different card with the same symbol and enact the magic to make it work.
ReplyDeleteKinda admit John dresses up like Castiel and i'm sure many on here would agree lol
ReplyDeleteEither way he got it back which is cool.

Or maybe the homeless guy never had the credit card in the first place lol
ReplyDeleteIt was in his hands. And he ran when zed came. So either he dropped it or like u said re created it.
ReplyDeleteI saw it myself as well but with the card it shows what the owner desires and that homeless guy desired money lol. the card could basically disappear and return to owner lol
ReplyDeletei would be laughing so hard if those two ever crossed paths lol

ReplyDeleteloved that final scene a lot...ticked to ep up a notch from very good.
