NCIS - Grounded - Review: "Snow angels"

We finally met Bishop's husband on the latest NCIS episode as the couple was stuck at the Dulles airport with Tony. Togther, they also investigated a possible terrorist threat at the airport.

Bishop and Jake head out to celebrate Thanksgiving with Jake's family while Tony waits at the airport for his father to arrive from London, but all flights are grounded due to heavy snowfall. At HQ, the team is alerted of chatter of a terrorist attack at the Dulles airport so they immediately tell Tony and Bishop. A suspicious Bishop had earlier seen a man whom she recognizes, but when they see a gun and stop him, it is revealed he is an air marshal. Still not satisfied, Bishop sends some pictures and a fingerprint to Abby, which reveals that he is indeed not the air marshal he says he is. When the trio attempts to arrest the imposter with help from the TSA, they find him pretty dead in the bathroom. The killer also took the imposter's gun, which makes the threat even bigger.

Meanwhile, the terrorism chatter has changed: it is now said there will be an assassination attempt. The team finds out that the arriving London plane has two agents accompanying an unknown third person. That person is later identified as a drug cartel member, and the team deduces that one of the waiting flight passengers wants revenge on him. Fortunately, Tony shoots him before he can hurt anyone. Bishop and Jake leave for their destination while Tony has to come back a day later because Tony Senior missed his flight. Also, Gibbs agrees to making one snow angel after being persuaded to do so by Abby.

This was a good episode. I liked the introduction of Jake and loved seeing him work together with Bishop and Tony. It's clear that Jake was surprised to see how Bishop's current line of work changes her. Also, because Bishop is no longer NSA, they can't discuss these things at home anymore. Jake wasn't of much help during this episode, but I'm hoping in future we will learn what he does at the NSA exactly. Another plus of this episode, is that it's always nice to see Tony in action mode and in charge of an investigation. The case was refreshing and it was really fun to see so much of the story on the airport. The only thing that was missing was Gibbs making a snow angel, but besides that this was a nice Thanksgiving episode!

There is one thing I'd like to mention about the season in general: I miss Vance! I think the last time we saw him was episode 4, which is like five episodes ago.

What did you think of this episode? Did you enjoy the case of the week? What are your thoughts about Jake's introduction? And would you have liked to see Gibbs make a snow angel as well? Sound off in the comments below.

The next NCIS episode, "House Rules", airs December 16.
