NETFLIX ORDERS FOURTH SEASON OF LONGMIRE
Rousing Western Thriller from Warner Horizon Television to Premiere Exclusively in US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand
Series To Return for 10 New Episodes in 2015
Beverly Hills, Calif., November 19, 2014-- Netflix, the world’s leading Internet TV network, has ordered a fourth season of the hit drama Longmire, from Warner Horizon Television. Ten new episodes of the series will premiere exclusively in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand in 2015.
“When Warner Horizon Television came to us with the idea for a new season of Longmire, we were intrigued because the series is so unique, and consistently great. We are thrilled to help continue Walt Longmire’s story for his large and passionate following,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix.
In a joint statement, the Longmire executive producers said: “We’re excited and honored to have the opportunity to bring this show that we love so much, and all its devoted fans, to Netflix.”
Season four of Longmire picks up moments after season three’s exciting finale. Walt Longmire (series star Robert Taylor), having found out who was behind the murder of his wife, succumbs to his darker impulses and takes off in pursuit of the killer with murder on his mind. Meanwhile, Branch Connally (Bailey Chase), the deputy who Walt fired for erratic, violent behavior, believes he has already figured out who the real culprit is. But during his confrontation with this suspected killer, a gun goes off. Now the audience will finally learn what happened, and whether Walt can be stopped before he makes a fatal choice.
Longmire, the contemporary crime thriller set in Big Sky country, is based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson. The series stars Australian actor Robert Taylor (The Matrix) as Walt Longmire, the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, along with Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Riddick), Lou Diamond Phillips (Southland, La Bamba), Bailey Chase (Damages), Cassidy Freeman (Smallville) and Adam Bartley (Justified).
Longmire is produced by The Shephard/Robin Company in association with Warner Horizon Television. Hunt Baldwin (The Closer, Trust Me), John Coveny (The Closer, Trust Me), Greer Shephard (The Closer, Major Crimes, Nip/Tuck) and Michael M. Robin (The Closer, Major Crimes, Nip/Tuck) serve as executive producers.

ReplyDeleteYay! Love this show
ReplyDeleteI guess WoEE are campaigning to Netflix right now?
ReplyDeleteOh YaY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! It would have sucked to end it like that!
ReplyDeleteDon't watch the show, but happy for the show's fans. Congrats everyone. :)
ReplyDeleteHIP-Hip-Hooray!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletedon't watch it, but happy for the fans :)
ReplyDeleteYes, my mom was upset about the cancellation.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope A&E is on everyone's naughty and not nice list.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!!!
ReplyDeletethey already did when the possibility of Longmire came up
ReplyDeleteIMO WoEE would be a good fit for syfy
A&E, Lifetime and every network that puts cheap reality crap above scripted dramas.
ReplyDeletethanks netflix, really, this place has become a lifesaver.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of hoping for a "final season" fund from netflix, in exchange for the exclusive rights to finish the show netflix produces a final season. Sounds like a fair deal, right?
i'm so happy right now!!! you guys cannot believe how much! *-------* <3
ReplyDeleteHoly shit awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's not the way Syfy sees it lately. They're trying (probably in vain) to bring back respected, legitimized sci-fi/genre fare like they had with Battlestar. If this were the channel that still produced shows like W13, Eureka, and Almost Human I'd agree that it would be a good fit. Nowadays, the brass at that network would likely thumb their noses at a show like East End... which is funny considering some of the crap they've put on their network.
ReplyDeleteFantastic News!!!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I support Syfy bringing back hard sci-fi I hope they don't leave out fantasy and horror, which has been a staple of theirs since they began. Not that I think there's a chance of them considering bringing back WoEE but say, they have The Magicians in development, and I hope they don't pass it over on the basis of it being fantasy. And to be honest if I were to rank their original series based on preference most of the top ones would be the ones with a supernatural/fantasy bent. :p
ReplyDeleteAwesome News!
ReplyDeleteNot a show that I'm interested in, but this seems like a good move and I bet this will gain them a few new enthusiastic subscribers at least. And my mom has told me it's well written and enjoyable, so, I am very happy for the fans. I know how I elated I would be if Netflix un-canceled a few of my personal faves right now and I'm a bit envious of you guys. :)
ReplyDeleteThey won't eliminate shows based on genre so whether it's fantasy or horror it's still in play. The thing is if it's horror they want something like The Walking Dead, if it's sci-fi they want another Battlestar, and if it's fantasy they want a Game of Thrones type show that people will take seriously as high drama and not shlock like they usually settle for.
ReplyDeletegreat news... love this show
ReplyDeleteNetflix, I will never bad mouth you again. For awhile anyway. This makes me so happy. I love Walt Longmire. Bailey Chase in those jeans doesn't hurt my shallow heart at all either. Plus, Katee Sackhoff.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy about this.
ReplyDeletethis is my latest gripe with syfy, Helix isn't a terrible show but a rather "high" approach at science fiction. Not that I disliked shows with smart undertones and arcs but syfy has been my go to place for dumb-but-fun entertainment.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the minority here but I loved the insanity and simplicity of Sharknado and while having a pretty cool background Dominion isn't a smart show either. It's basically angels vs. humans.
Not saying "smart is dumb, I want my dumb sh*t back" but...no that's exactly what I'm saying.
As long as we don't get a new Star Trek show I'll be that shallow ;)
"you can't copy success, you have to make it on your own"
ReplyDeletethe only way knock offs work is with a light approach, if I had to do a GoT knock off I'd simply put in the simplest arc of all "brave knight saves young princess" and put that into action heavy but lighthearted scenarios.
People will expect a 2nd GoT, they won't expect something easy to get into. That's how to be a leech, I'd do it if I were syfy
Something with guts, smarts and balls? Gotta find your own genre syfy. Maybe unicons
All we need is Netflix to bring Dallas back. But i'm afraid it ain't happening 😢
ReplyDeleteYeah, and I'd love to see that type of stuff, but I'd like to see a few things on a somewhat smaller scale as well. Like Haven, which I think is an excellent example of how to handle a complex mythology. Too bad it's so underrated, even to Syfy.
ReplyDeleteI think they're trying a similar concept right now with Z Nation. I'm not a fan but others seem to like it.
ReplyDeleteI like Haven too but man those ratings are brutal.
ReplyDeleteI have not yet seen this series, but I'm really glad for you guys! :)
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it. Reality shows are the spawn of the devil.
ReplyDeleteI've only got one thing to say...
ReplyDeleteYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! TAKE THAT, A&E!!!! IN YOUR FACE!!!!!
Hell yes!
ReplyDeleteJust no.
ReplyDeleteThank God.
ReplyDeleteI think the original cancellation by A&E ( Avoid & Exterminate Network) hit such a nerve with viewers because it was so undeserved and surprising. Quality programming deserves life. My remote knows what Network's channel to skip from now on. Thank you Netflix.
ReplyDeleteDon't watch the show but i'm glad for the fans. I never understood why A&E cancelled it, it performed solidly.
ReplyDeleteI could see that with their only original good scifi show remaining is Haven, s I don't count continuum or Lost Girl(considering they only have the rights to air them).
ReplyDeleteIncluding 60 Minutes?
ReplyDeleteI do not include news shows in that category -- just a personal choice- not sure of the official line on that .
ReplyDeleteyes! yes! yes! best news of the day!
ReplyDeleteHope A&E crashes and burns - figuratively, of course.
ReplyDeleteBecause the viewership skewed too old........so they said
ReplyDeleteJust found out. HELL YEAAAAAA!
