Season 4 hasn't always hit the standards that I'd like it to (looking at you Carrie/Aayan storyline), and while the last two episodes have been steps in the right direction, 'There's Something Else Going On' shows clear evidence that the show is on the right track heading into the final few episodes of the season.
To recap a little, Saul got recaptured by Haqqani last week, which left Lockhart and Ambassador Boyd with no choice but to agree to the prisoner exchange demanded by Haqqani. This week's episode spends a lot of time dealing with that prisoner exchange, and it's seriously tense stuff.
Elsewhere, after the big reveal as to the mole at the end of last week, the secondary story deals with the idea of Dennis actually being the mole. Considering it's something we as viewers know to be true, the episode does a great job of keeping things interesting.
Teasers:
- There's two fantastic, emotional scenes during the episode that I really loved.
- Carrie actually becomes likeable in my eyes for the first time this season, which, given that she's the main character, is quite an important thing. Claire Danes is, as usual, excellent.
- "This is how the other side behaves."
- "This doesn't feel right."
- You do not want to miss the final 15 minutes. "What the f*cking f*ck?" is a line used in the episode, and you will no doubt be repeating that line as the credits roll.
There really is nothing more that I can say without spoiling the episode. 'There's Something Else Going On' is easily the best episode of the season, and is right up there with the best the show has done to date. Do not miss Homeland, Sunday 23rd November at 9pm on Showtime.
