This surprises me, but it is a pleasant surprise!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice when networks give mature shows a planned final season to go out with a structured series finale!
14 episodes split over two years is absolutely ridiculous. I'm glad it is being given room to finish properly, but just show it all next year FFS.
ReplyDeleteThis all started with Breaking Bad, and splitting the season in half in order to win more Emmys, but at least with Breaking Bad it had the added benefit of the show blowing up in the ratings for the final 8 episodes. Mad Men is being split in half with 14 and at least that is a legendary Emmy winning show. Splitting up the 14 episode final season of Hell on Wheels is ridiculous. It is amusing that posters were complaining about Royal Pains doing a two season 8 episode a season renewal, but at least USA is not calling that one season and airing the final 8 episodes a year later.
ReplyDeleteSad to see it go, but glad this show is getting a proper final season sendoff.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if any network will create a drama set in Old West? Hell On Wheels is the only one airing currently. Before that was Deadwood. I love that type of setting. Maybe we will get a Django series?!? Lol.
i planned finale is great but only 5 seasons hurt im gonna miss this show badly
ReplyDeleteFor awhile Ron Howard was talking about getting the Dark Tower series on HBO. Would love to see Roland Deschain on tv!
ReplyDeleteThere are also talks about bringing a comic book series on tv called Scalped. It is about an Indian Reservation and all the crime that goes on there.
I was going to comment on The Dark Tower! That is my favorite book series! I would love to see it come to series and heard about Ron Howard being involved , but I don't know anymore. I wish they would create it. Ever since Game of Thrones came on the scene (Which I love too) I thought that the powers that be are waiting for that series to end before doing The Dark Tower.
ReplyDeleteI loved Scalped too. I'm a huge Comic Book Fan. I would have loved if NBC picked up the pilot for The Sixth Gun for this season. That would have been awesome.
For me it's the same thing as with Lost Girl: They could have done another season!
ReplyDeleteI definitely think Dark Tower would be good on HBO as well. A movie series may be too much investment for a studio so a tv series would be best. Game of Thrones shows that bigger budget shows can become big so hopefully it will eventually happen. I personally would love to see either Timothy Olyphant or Demian Bichir as Roland.
ReplyDeleteScalped and The Sixth Gun also would be better fits for either FX or Showtime. That way they can show the more mature stuff. Glad to meet a fellow comic book fan!
Yeah glad to meet you too! I think I have close to 60 books on my pull list each month, Lol.
ReplyDeleteAnd to be honest Timothy Olyphant is my favorite actor and I always pictured him as Roland. He is great on Justified.
Keep it going. We look forward to it starting every season and the season goes too quickly. We don't want to see it end. Great show. Every episode is excellent.
